John Kennedy and Abraham Lincoln also had unimpressive legislative careers and were thought to be somewhat shallow but with speaking ability.

By way of comparison I watched Obama in the debates. It wasn’t inspiring. Reading a speech is one thing, but handling a debate or press conference or other think-on-your-feet situation is different. Obama is the slow-footed guy.

Hillary made some very poor choices when choosing her campaign advisors and strategy.

Yes, you would think that with her inevitability she could’ve gotten John Kerry to let her do the 2004 convention speech.

Where in the world did Kerry find Obama? Why do we have to now be stuck with another nominee who is almost identical to Kerry (Mr. Hair)?

No matter how hard they work or try, they just were not blessed with the gift.

Maybe if they had asked Deval Patrick he would have also given them the gift.

But, even moreso, it was the stolen gift of repeating things John Edwards wrote and said which was obvious earlier in the campaign.

Clinton & Obama are far from gifted thinkers. The nice voice is a fluke of nature. It hardly indicates great leadership ability.

I admire Hillary Clinton and feel somewhat badly that I’ve decided to vote for Obama in the March 4 primary. But the advisors and representatives the Clinton campaign has put forward, and the strategy, or lack of it with which they have conducted the campaign, are major reasons for my decision.

To those of us who were watching closely, it was apparent she should have been out after Iowa, after the debate when Edwards landed a clean blow to knock her out. But, those darn Diebold machines in New Hampshire seem to have saved her.

I wonder, if Obama hadn’t ‘won’ Iowa, would people favor him this way?

That’s admirable. However, the point was that Matthews didn’t ask what specific legislation she had authored. That was the question he asked the state senator from Texas. She should have had a better shot at listing them, since she would have dealt with the House counterpart bills, but the question was never asked.

I’m starting to understand why Clinton is losing this thing. If you and your strategists can’t recognize that having Lanny Davis speak on your behalf is a bad idea, you’re out of touch.

She’s done most of the inside political manuevering right, but that’s only going to net her 20 percent of the delegates. Most of the rest watch news channels to get their information.

It’s a long time, and the way for him to keep up the momentum is to go to the border battleground states to energize the base and get the vote-grabbing machinery organized and oiled. If he lays back, he will be attacked. If he keeps pouring money into local organization and anti-McCain ads, he can continue to develop the base. He can work for the down-ticket slots we need so badly.

The main point is that he needs to attack Bush-McCain, hard and often. It will force the thugs into making errors that will be fatal to their chances in November.

On no account should he wait until the Convention to start the campaign. No quarter!

*g*

If it was Hardball and Tweety gets 6-7 figures for doing it, why couldn’t Tweety pipe up with any of the substantive legislative history on Obama or Clinton–I mean that’s only 2 Senators, and Tweety did do a stint as one of Tip O’Neil’s top guys in the House.

I met someone with the last name Fitzhugh.

    that is all.

IIRC that is a patronymic form from the French fils “son” so son of Hugh.

All of the Irish “Fitzes” descend from the Norman English nobility, sent over to tame the wild Irish.

As is the case throughout history, the Norman nobility became more Irish than the natives.
