20% reporting — Obama 56%, Clinton 43%
John McVain is already honing his new line of attack in his victory speech:
"I will fight every day in this campaign to make sure that Americans are not deceived by an eloquent and empty call for change that promises no more than a holiday from history and a return to the false promises and failed philosophy that trusts in government more than the people."
Networks interrupted Clinton’s speech because Obama was starting his.
Really tacky.

Jane!
Hillary didn’t acknowledge his win or congratulate him.
Jane!
Wait – “failed philosophy that trusts in government more than the people”?
Isn’t that modern conservatism?
Networks interrupted Clinton’s speech because Obama was starting his.
Really tacky.
Tacky on Obama’s part.
It’s time for Hillary to concede. It’s tacky for her not to.
Hi Jane
Just checking here, McCain has half the votes Hillary has received so far.
However, most of the rural returns are not in yet.
“We cannot wait!!!”
Let’s see who “plagiarizes” that!!!
Huh! He’s manning the cameras now?
Heeh heeh heeh he said “bottoms up!”
Hey Jane:
Some night, eh?
That’s what the joker I’m running against believes in.
This is the tsunami that will wipe the repugs away for 12-20 years.
How do you know? They cut her off.
I can’t be too upset, in Iowa he would schedule an event around the state and she’d schedule one in the same area an hour before. It’s been the tenor of the campaign. Still, he’s won. She’s not going to be able to do it and they both know it. Time for him to stop, it’s not necessary.
But Hillary is “in to spin.”
No notes or teleprompter…wow
No, he started his speech while Hillary was still speaking. If he had any class he would have waited.
Obama had nothing to do with that…besides…they’ve (the collective media) have been bashing his wife all day!! Who got Shuster off the air? It wasn’t Obama.
Don’t they all?
I mean, how else can they explain the “just trust us” Bush administration?
He has plenty of class.
Come on, hes in Texas, shes in Ohio…get a grip.
Maybe the network was rude but not obama
Going with stats, pace WI:
My ex, white woman over 40 making six figures, who lives in Minneapolis, is an Obama girl…like most of her friends white and black.
Methinks Obama will win this thing, judging from “unofficial” reports from the field…*g*
I believe Clinton has been scheduling her standard stump speeches (that don’t mention the election that just finished) in order to step on the story of the loss.
Are you saying Shuster should still be on the air? You think reporters should be saying that candidates are pimping out their daughters?
So Johnvez McSharraf is trying the same line Hillary has been using recently. Doesn’t seem to working to well for her. St. John, keep going with that one, please.
“I will fight every day in this campaign to make sure that Americans are not deceived by an eloquent and empty call for change that promises no more than a holiday from history and a return to the false promises and failed philosophy that trusts in government more than the people.”
Uh? McCain is aware that George Bush is not running for reelection right? Was John awake at all during the Clinton years has the even looked at the DOW lately!
Anyone with a brain who can read a stock chart is wishing Bill would come back!
Just who does he think wants 4 more years of Bush policy?
Tsunami warning…on the teevee..Obama.
Really tacky.
Those were the words I was looking for.
im thinking Obama is the correct canidate,he is part white man, part black…that represents the country best imo
This is about a win in WI not a stump speech. She certainly should have congratulated Obama first.

How do we know? We only got to hear the first part of the speech.
The victor usually goes last, no?
I kinda thought they had a time-delay thingy that they could do… I don’t know how it works, it must be magic or something… But, then again, it’s the MSM that forgot how to do that. Aren’t they the same group that’s taken to the fainting couch over “plagiarism?”
Typical up-is-downism — obscure the fact the the government IS the people.
Concede! Concede! Concede! Concede!
Good job! (spelling)
;~P
Bingo.
Wow, the WI 1st CD is very close as it is!
Must be some pretty strong kool aid around here!
Obama is breathtaking.
Yes Obama no more tax breaks for the rich give it to the poor!
I think Obama has been quite gracious in his total domination of late. Even in the face of all these attacks on him and Michelle of late, he has not taking the bait for the most part. Wouldn’t you expect to get a bit of swagger and a little extra spring in your step if you were accomplishing what he’s accomplishing?
Can we NOT pie fight tonight? BTW, good evening pups.
I’m going to disagree with Jane on one of her points here: I sort of like the new Frozen Forehead McCain. Yes, it’s a bad botox job, but it’s still a lot better than his Cryptkeeper face of two weeks ago.
I define class by how you treat other people, not by how terrific you look.
Raising the Minium wage indexing it to inflation! Obama is talking about ideas :) About time somebody did.
I guess I’m saying that Clinton got Shuster suspended, but when the very same people attacked and apparently edited Michelle Obama’s comments to make her seem unpatriotic today, nothing was done. No one was held accountable. Check it out. It isn’t true press, and it isn’t free press, and it isn’t ethical.
Hillary stepped on McCain’s speech, Obama stepped on Hillary’s. Of the three, hers was just a stump speech. All in all, minor league stuff, nothing to get excited about IMHO.
OK, that’s the second time we’ve been left behind tonite without notice!
Clinton hasn’t congratulated Obama in any of these last nine consecutive wins. After South Carolina, she had Bill give the concession speech. Now that’s tacky.
All children are valuable!!! Everyone No more NCLB
No teaching to the test!!!
Not true! Raven, we did notice you were left behind ;)
It is the networks choice to feed the different speeches live…. who know if anyone coordinated the different events on time schedules before tonight.
They could choose to have tape delayed someone’s speech but then they could be scooped by another network.
And a lot of sour grapes.
FYI, at the moment, Clinton has more votes than McCain and Huckabee combined. That pleases me.
Obama has run the largest and most successful primary campaign in the history of the U.S. while Hillary took everything for granted. Who do we trust to lead us to total victory in November? The question answers itself. How many states and voters wouldn’t be important then?
Good evening to you as well….and what a novel concept.
I thought it was a legitimate question, not a pie fight. I think it’s weird to think that Shuster’s comment was acceptable. Do you disagree?
Education benefits linked to community service! Way to go Barak.
Not really, just a group of people who have differing opinions but are still respectful enough not to name call. How are you doing this evening?
OMG…. he wants to turn is into Denmark…. OMG….. woohoo…. 6 weeks vacation sounds good to me :)
Ya know, he’s been talking details all along, and his plans have been out there and on his web site for a long time, and those plans are much more detailed than Hillary’s. This “all speech, no details” stuff has been really annoying.
I like that he has small children.
We’ll invest in you. You invest in America. Together we’ll march this country forward.
Obama’s framing of government much better than McVain’s.
Actually, if you look at the entire tape of the speeches, she did after South Carolina and after at least one of the other states that I know for certain — because I reviewed them after that claim was made previously. The networks haven’t always been showing it. So, don’t take what you are seeing as the whole speech…ever. It’s a buyer beware viewing.

Are you saying Shuster should still be on the air? You think reporters should be saying that candidates are pimping out their daughters?
It was a suspension, he will be back. He is paying the price.
Hey, I have a clip of him saying that on my camera! :)
Obama mentioned “native Americans” again. This speaks to us. My wife is full blood Cherokee. I am a half breed Cherokee. And I am not ashamed of that fact. Obama is talking about teachers again. And helping our children. He does not like NCLB. He is speaking to us. And we believe to you too.
“If you’re ready for change, we can stop using immigration as a political football”

Shuster is a news man not a pundit. He made a mistake and apologized..enough
What he said was poor but he has never been mean. She was going after Tweety
Ewww thanks for the image … *g*
I wasn’t addressing your question, just an overall greeting to everyone and an overall request to refrain from any nastiness.
Obama won the primary. Hillary knows damn well what time the polls closed in WI; she CHOSE to step on Obama’s victory speech and in so doing, continued her streak of not congratulating the victor – THAT’s tacky. I really wish this site would stop playing the “victim” card for her every time Hillary loses another primary.
Thanks for the Gazpacho recipe the other night … as soon as I get ripe Avocadoes up here, I’m making it.
Have you tried Juliano’s Raw Food Recipes ?
Well, Michelle misspoke and didn’t correct herself. Not quite like saying Hillary was pimping her daughter.
I’m ready for David Schuster to come back too. He’ll have learned a valuable lesson, as has the rest of MSNBC. He’ll be on top soon.
Fine, thanks. The kool aid comment referred to people’s unwillingness to simply admit that Obama should have waited. It’s not really that big a deal that he stepped on her speech, but just admit it- he shouldn’t have done it. Jane called it right.
a very NOBLE people
Well, the Danes are supposed to be the happiest people in the world – might be a nice change!

Re: Texas.
I live in Houston, and I’ve been here for four years now. Like Team Hillary, I had no idea how the delegates were divvied up after the vote. Unlike some of the talking heads, I don’t really blame her for not knowing. I don’t think anyone on either side of the race thought that we would get to March without having chosen a candidate, so I can’t really fault her for not knowing how it works.
My understanding is that delegate apportionment is tied to how many people voted in 2006, when African-American turnout was heavy and Hispanic turnout was low, so the African-American vote will count disproportionately more in this primary. I think that this plan is stupid, unfair, and anti-democratic. I also think it’s way too late to bitch about it now. That being said, if I were a leader in the Hispanic community, I’d be royally pissed about the whole scheme, and I’d be demanding some changes in the way we do things down here.
Ideas have to be communicated to voters if they are to be effective. Now that he is getting the coverage he is using it to effect with good ideas taking him even higher.
I guess I’m old but conventional political wisdom when I was in school was to avoid talking about ideas for as long as possible to avoid your opponent from using those ideas to attack you.
The normal course of business is that the victor waits until the vanquished stops the bulk of the speech before stepping on it. That’s the way it usually works. It hasn’t worke that way back and forth all year this year because they’ve been playing tit for tat with the timing. See Jane’s comment here. It has nothing to do with “victim,” and everything to do with both of them playing one-up. Tonight it was Barack, next time it might be Hillary — and either way, it’s tacky. Would you say we were playing the “victim” card if we called Hlllary on it on behalf of Barack next time?
Oh, you are more than welcome. I forgot to post the Watermelon/Tomato Gespacho but I will do so in the near future.
No, I haven’t tried his recipes but it is on my list of raw chefs to try. There are so many recipes and resources on the web as well, that I don’t think that I’m going to live long enough to try them all
OK, point taken. I like to spar a little but I don’t want to get nasty with my fellow ‘dogs.
We’re not seeing the whole speech? I’m shocked. Shocked, I tell you . . .
He said Constitution!!!
she pays people millions of dollars to know.
Ah. Thanks. The beauty of the blogs and collective conscious. I did see a report from TPM saying she didn’t for quite some time, but they must not have done their homework.
The vanquished never ever concedes defeat. It is as if the contest, just like the voters and states involved, never existed in the first place. Interrupting that is totally warranted.
Was she referring to Obama or the networks? Either way, we are all entitled to our opinions and though they may get heated, it doesn’t serve any purpose to insult others besides, the main goal is the presidency and the SCOTUS.
Let’s just say I’d be pleasantly surprised.
As has been mentioned by several posters, Hillary refuses to acknowledge Obama’s victories – this is a pattern of petty behavior which, IMO, precludes any considerations from Obama. He won – acknowledge it and move on.
It is now looking like the video quoting her all over the media may have been edited…leaving out “really”….which changes the meaning.
This is the speech he gave Saturday night. Just blew the crowd away.
When he got into this part about the Constitution, I almost reached over and smacked Kohl in the back of the head.
Here come quotes from JFK, LBJ and saying “are these only words” (unless I missed that part making some snacks.
Oh, god. Please, if someone here has access to Obama, tell him to stop referring to himself in the 3rd person. Like fingernails on a chalkboard.
great because on the other sites, it’s a flame war.
Should we be clutching our pearls yet?
John McCain changed his forehead.

Yes, my friend. ;0)
There’s a difference between stump speeches and concession speeches. Waiting for the “bulk” of a stump speech is a significant amount of time.
Geez, the whole Shuster flap was so obviously just a means to work the press.
Anyone who thinks Shuster should have been suspended should re-view the entirety of the broadcast, (which I saw live.)
Shuster actually has a high opinion of Chelsea Clinton. He was just commenting on the fact that the campaign had her call the female hosts of “The View”, on thier cell phones, on the morning of the election.
That is quite a departure from past practices, and while the words David chose were disappointing, the point he was trying to get at was certainly a valid one.
Well, that’s the great thing about Raw Food … eat it and you live longer … *g*
Whoo hoo!!
So does the media, and they usually can’t figure it out, either.
There isn’t enough botox in the world that can get McVain ready for a debate with Obama.
Interesting…My own family is mixed as well…
You are making us smile. ;0)
BTW, he’s speaking in an NBA basketball arena while she holds court in a high school gym.
There was a telling post at TPM about the ineptitude of Clintons campaign. Just one anecdote thats so telling: they missed the deadline to get a full slate of delegates in Pennsylvania. Thats with the Governors full support and even an extension of a week. Now in a race thats counting every delegate , is this the organization of a winner? Supposedly Texas is a mess too.
I remember distinctly that she did after SC because there was a woman wearing a lovely hat who was sitting behind her on the stage wherever she was in TN. I can’t remember the other tape that I reviewed on location, so I can’t at this point in the day pinpoint the other state. But the networks are not showing the full tape of every one of these events, so you don’t know for sure without seeing the very start of it whether it’s been there.
Plus, both campaigns have been calling the other to congratulate each other, depending on who has done what in what state. Which also isn’t exactly broadcast because it’s a private campaign call.
There’s enough animosity on all sides of things this year without making more of it where it isn’t factually warranted, and I’ve tried to be careful to look at the whole of things, rather than media snippets whenever possible, because it is in their interest to keep stirring the pot instead of calming things down — better ratings for them when things are riled up, eh?
It pales in comparison by a ton to me when compared with a Supreme Court that won’t review the illegality of warantless wiretapping, although I understand one of the first things most people would say is that the S. Ct. is loath to get into fresh controversy being legislated–but there is not much question that there was a valid issue they should have weighed in on.
It has seemed to me though Christy that she has acknowledged his wins in smaller venues, but maybe she has.
I’d like to be a fly on the wall in the strategy session that try to figure out how to count Michigan and Florida unchanged, and to cop pledged and superdelegates at ground zero Clinton.
LOL true, but at this rate, I’ll be pushing 200 before I’ll exhaust the various recipes from all over the world. I’ll die trying though :)
” They are saying Obama has good ideas but? ” Sorry the GOPers are batshit insane they Bush and McCain worry that Obama will go into Pakistan after Ossama and talk to Iran.
Ideas which I think are great myself its the last 7 years that I find insane.
Which is why many of us don’t go to those sites any more. The lake sometimes gets a bit choppy, but the sun always comes out again.
There were three tables worth of representatives from the local Nishnabi. He had them whooping by the end of the speech on Saturday.

Obama. Continuing to seal the deal.
Obama’s been talking specifics about Guantanamo and Habeus Corpus (sp?) for a long time as well. Very directly as well about closing Gaun and restoring Habeus, since it’s paramount to our entire system. In fact, when I heard say that two months ago, that’s when I started leaning in his direction.
Haven’t seen him get credit for this around the Liberal blogs very much.
Busted:
I sent you the Google info hours ago and it didn’t bounce back! So check again…(MODS: Busted and I can’t communicate by email apparently…, so apologies again.)
And McCain was in a broom closet.
Good on ya CT … bring it home ! *g*
Yes, I had a whole post on that here earlier today as well. See here.
Looking at the Exit Poll data and this is yet another strong win for the Obama image. Obama won 51% to 48% in Democratic voters (63% of turnout). 28% of the participants were Independents and he took 62% of those. About 9% of the Republicans came across and 70% of those voted for Obama. Oddly this may account for the 4% of those that voted for Clinton who told pollsters that they would be disatisfied if she were the nominee (sabotage voters)! No Obama voters stated that.
Hard to find categories where Clinton did well actually. Obama won almost every category. A large number of young voters turned out: 11% were between 18-24 years old (almost outnumbering 30-39 year olds -which is actually a ten year spread). 73% of the young cohort voted for Obama. 62% of 30-39 year olds. 57% (40-49) and 53% (50-64). The last category had the most voters (31%) but it is a 15 year spread. Hillary only won amongst voters older than 60 years (56%-43%). Hillary led amongst in regular, Church-attending Catholics (52%) but Obama pulled in more Protestants (both firm and non-attending) irregular Catholics, and the sizeable (37% of the total) of other/non-religious.
Obama won every level of education except those with only HS education which he split. His support increased the better educated the voter was (58% degree; 61% postgraduate degree).
They split amongst Union members. But Obama won over some of those with Union members in the family and the bulk of non-Union households.
Clinton did gain a majority of voters who decided at the last moment (12% of the total). But Obama won over those that decided within the last three days (54%), over the last month (67%) and split those that had decided before that.
Obama’s support was even with Hilary amongst lower income ($15-30K), but increased systematically by 3-5% every $20-25K above that.
Regionally Obama took Milwaukee (65%) and it’s burbs (59%), S. Wisconsin 53%; and NE Wisconsin (51-47%). Clinton took the far NW (51-47%).
More than half the voters said “change” was a driving factor and 3/4ths of those voted for Obama. About one fifth said experience was critical and almost all of those voted for Clinton (a possible weak point that Obama needs to allay) Most voters cited the Economy as the principle concern (44%), with Iraq (28%) and Health Care (26%) following. Obama won all of these by 10% over Clinton.
I mean, this is totally ridiculous. So if someone said you were pimping your daughter you would say “the words he chose were disappointing”? I don’t think so. It just creeps me out when people stick up for him. It was a totally outrageous thing to say, and our political discourse should be way above that. It’s just weird to argue about this.
Obama calling for ‘instilling excellence in our children’.
Bush says ‘is our children learning’.
I’ll take the Obama message.

This place has definitely become my sanctuary. We do edbate and yes it gets heated but it still remains civil.
If you want to understand why HRC’s campaign has never really got going, read this Washington Post opinion by James Carville and Mark Penn from July 2nd 2006.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/…..78_pf.html
Yes it is from 2006, so it seems they had everything figured out back then and nothing has changed since. And one can only wonder why some people still question her label of inevitablity. The best part though is her 35 years of experience in 2006 which makes me wonder if the last two years haven’t counted or her campaign was just to lazy to update it. Or of course it was just a number plucked out of the air. Maybe the polls can tell us?
Obama ROCKS!
Doors open at 6:30 and the caucus starts at 7:00…!
Didn’t Kagro have something on that recently? Or was I reading it somewhere else…can’t remember. So many blogs and news bits in a day, and it’s late for me to kick my brain into specifics. But I know someone had something on legal policy and Obama recently that I read. And it was definitely on a liberal blog.
I only heard her with the really. Really proud.
I don’t believe there is much good will towards Obama from Clinton, Ickes and Maggie Williams.
I think the central questions besides grabbing delegates who aren’t elected in the primary are how to steal Michigan and Florida, and a careful vetting and weighing of how the most negative campaign turn possible can win the remaining states. If she thought it could, she’d be there in a Chippaqua heart beat.
His breaking in to her speech does not feel good, but it is smart politics. Media outlets have deadlines and he wants to shape the narrative. In addition, winning elections does matter (hear that Harry and Nancy).
I must say that I have been impressed how he has improved his ability to express his theory of change and the importance of ongoing activism. He is making a strong case on Iraq.
I remain in awe of how much better they both are than Mr. More Was and Less Jobs McCain. Not to plagiarize, but it is hopeful to see Hilary and Barack as our two finalists to put forward.
But he is right – it will take continued heat to bring about real change. I’m glad FDL will be there to make it happen.

I don’t know that it was tacky. Maybe. I mean she started first. But she has LOSER stamped on her forehead, so they cut away.
For whatever it’s worth… my sis-in-law will be voting in an upcomming primary. She’s always liked Hillary and couldn’t wait tio viote for her for President. She’s now leaning to BO. Didn’t say why and I didn’t get to ask. So it’s not worth all that much. But she isn’t alone and she was a HRC supported pretty big time. Thought Obama just wasn’t ready. Guess that line didn’t work with her. Again, it’s not working with a lot of other people. If she’s lost my sister-in-law’s vote, it’s over. Hillary has a duty to the party and the country to concede.
Dang, he’s long winded, ain’t he? Dang, he’s going on and on! Whew, dude, give it a rest!
Seriously, where was McCain?
The MSM will be solidly in McCain’s corner. If you thought the media’s hit on Al Gore was a travesty in 2000 just wait for what they try and do to Obama in 2008. McCain will let the media do much of his campaigning. Fight McCain and his media lap dogs.
In virtually any competition, as you are moving toward inevitable victory, as it appears Obama is in this race, the the classy and smart thing for the apparent victor and his or her partisans to do is graciously salute the strengths of the soon to be vanquished.
This makes the victory more heroic and offers the defeated’s partisans an easier path to joining forces.
The other forehead was out of fashion.

Right on. BigMedia is gonna make sure this thing will last as long as possible. That $32 million Obama raised in Jan is going somewhere, and I bet a large percentage is going into all those TV ads.
Not sure, but I thought $32 million would’ve been considered a lot of an entire primary campaign, but they’re doing that 3-4 times overs, and again the TV stations must be salivating.
Hillary should never voted for the AUMF. Same for Kerry. Same for Edwards.

OK…
Reisz, in political parlance the word “pimping” doesn’t mean jack-shit.
When I had my dog go around wearing a Dean t-shirt, many people accused me of pimping Bo Diddley-dog out.
If Shuster had used the words with venom, or dis-respect, you might have a case. Personally, I think he was alarmed that his network was playing clips of The View’s hosts, basically mocking Chelsea for going over the line.
Let me know when pimp becomes a dirty word….
PS– I think Chris Matthews is a sexist ass, and that Scarborough is at best a typical frat boy. But why should Shuster have taken the fall?
Night OK&Lahoma.
-G
The update to the TPM story said that even if she didn’t have names filed to fill the delegate slots, she would still win the slots, so it’s more a story of “bad organization” than her not being able to get delegate votes.
My take: Sometimes people say some really dumb things on live TV. It depends on his response when he was called out on it. If he said, “Oh, my God, what I meant to say and what came out of my mouth were two entirely different things. I can’t believe I SAID that,” then I’d cut him some slack. I felt this way about the reporter who used the phrase “sloppy seconds” a while back, and was rightly mortified when he realized what he’d said. I haven’t listened to the original statement or the apology (and don’t plan to–I’m not a TV person), but I can see how there would be two sides here.
I don’t think there is a lot of love lost between either camp, to be honest — at least, not at this point in the heat of the primary battle. That may soften as time moves forward — and I don’t doubt that whomever loses will support the winner a lot against McCain.
But I don’t think there will be much tinkering on Florida or Michigan — the party elders have been making very loud rumbles against changing any of the parameters from what they were at the start of the race unless and until every other vote is counted and the delegates determined. And, at least what I’m hearing, there is a strong feeling that the winner will be determined before they even get to a Michigan or Florida vote question. Well before.
So I’m not even remotely concerned about it at this point — because a lot of heavy hitters have put their foot down at trying to tinker around the margins in the last couple of weeks. No hurting the party, no matter what, has been the message I’ve been hearing.
That’s enough. First Russert called me aging, and now he called me elderly. He can fuck off.

I’ve watched Democrats form a circular firing squad for 50 years. I can’t BEGIN to tell you how tired I am of it. Although I prefer one over the other either one of our candidates is 1000% better than “4 More Wars” McCain.
He annoyed me the first time or two I saw him – too preachery for my taste – but his style is growing on me.
Seriously, a broom closet.
No one is defending Shuster’s statement, but why is Clinton friendly with Fox News, when O’Reilly says things like this (to McCain):
He’s a potato head…he has a problem.
Edward! Good to have you here.
How about now?
Pimp is a dirty word, especially when directed at a mother and her relationship to her daughter. I don’t care who the mother and daughter are.
Russert: “White men who had been for Edwards are gravitating towards Obama in a dramatic fashion”
Yep, I R One ; )
How? I went to the damn website this weekend, and I couldn’t figure out how to do early voting down here.
Not a popular view with my liberal/progressive friends, but I think FCAT is good. Which doesn’t mean they should teach to the test. depends on the teacher.
What’s up, Jim. Today and tomorrow we’re having the weather i moved here for.
It’s a cracker apocalypse.
Poor Bildo.

I will agree with that, McVain is a distant third.
Sent…to gmail. Check again and confirm…on FB…
All things pass.
Thanks, it hit out of the blue today. Mr is doing his best to take care of me, the liquored tea is the best part :)
Pie fights are OK. it’s the pissing contests I try to avoid.
Sleep tight, you two.
If that holds through the general, I want you to imagine the cascade that will be for the down-ticket races in terms of a massive sea of voting change. How’s that long-term GOP domination of all facets of government working for you now, Karl? (Not to count my chickens early, or anything, because there is a LOT of work to be done on all our parts between now and then…)
The real story is total turnout numbers for voters GOP vs Dem in Wisconsin .
Yum
We had potato, home frozen corn and home roasted red pepper chowder.
Just need chicken broth and evaporated milk.
Uh…Hillary originally announced her speech would be at 8:30..she was LATE
she had put that out in the afternoon, so it actually was her fault, that her speech was cut off.

We have Fresh juice daily and even the kids feel warmer after a glass. The best thing is the warmth lasts longer … because Raw foods are filled with Prana Shanti (Life energy, in Yoga parlance)
“Let me know when pimping becomes a dirty word…”
OK, I’m letting you http://www.thefreedictionary.com/pimp”>know.
Good evening dear friends.
As a Texas Dem who reads a fair bit of political news each day (and blogwhores it towards this site), I was surprised to hear Obama mention that we have a caucus as well as a primary on the 4th. Anyone know about this?
Ooh, I’ll get my butternut squash soup recipe out as well – squash and coconut milk and cilantro and an obscene amount of fresh ginger.
McCain spoke about an hour ago — they called the GOP end of things in WI really early.
Hear, hear! And him with more wrinkles than me…
the county dem party site should have a list of locations.
where in TX?
Yum… We may have to beg for an “open recipe thread” once or twice a week so we can share.
I agree with him completely on that first part. Memo to Bill: You aren’t entitled to power just because you’re white, Christian, and male.
I love that we have some slightly older folks here.
Should have been “Prana Shakti”, although it does increase the feeling of shanti(peace) within as well … *g*
FrankProbst,

Good to go, someone moved the truck finally.
Many thanks.
My apologies to the Mods and Jane and Christy for the distraction.
Houston. If it’s on their site, it sure as hell isn’t easy to find.
((((( Loo Hoo )))))
Uh…gail — she was late because both she and Barack were waiting for one of the networks to make a call in WI before they spoke. And the Obama campaign was not only aware of when she began her speech, but were waiting for her to get through a portion of it.
Word is they were unhappy she didn’t immediately go into a congrats to Barack, and they decided to step on her speech from there. See Jane’s earlier comment at #16 where she explains both he and Hillary have been doing this to each other since Iowa. They are both acting like small children with this — it’s petty, and they need to drop it. Period.
Yeah, we’ll have to disagree on FCAT. Too many friends of Jeb making big bucks off that one.
A little chilly here today, had to wear a jacket on my mower.
Did you catch Obama’s speech tonight? Sure would have liked to hear him here in the O’Connell Center, if the Dems had been allowed to campaign here. Maybe during the campaign for the general.
:Sister Hazel”
Agree and disagree. Agree that they should show the winner. Tonight , HRC’sd a loser and beginning to look like a loser period. Disagree that the site plays teh victim card for Hillary every time she loses a primary. Even if it did, I figure they’re running out of cards. So no big deal.
…Man… I like the old stuff better. I’ll adjust
;~P
The mods were about to suggest y’all just get a room. :>)
it is interesting to see people so uptight about Clinton losing. It’s just not fair! She should be winning!
except …
…
…
there’s no particular reason for her to win.
I so hope you are right about the heavy hitters and the only important goal to unify and not factionalize the party. If there are open letters or folks to contact, we should all speak out for the “adult” position. Thanks
well, at least they’re finally speaking the truth out in the open …
These things are not scripted between the campaigns. I doubt that either campaign intended to have either a victory or a concession speech at that time (within minutes of the polls closing). These are stump speeches…a victory/concession speech would come later. If one had to script out every evening speech wityhout working with the other campaign to avoid cuttiung into anothers speech TO their supporters you could go crazy. Preliminary speeches run over, candidates get caught in traffic, folks take time to get into the arena, too many things happen.
On a General Election night it’s 100 times simpler since it’s usually hard-core supporters who have been there for hours and are just waiting for the votes. But these two are out on the campaign trail, wedging in media interviews, ad hoc events, and last minute speeches and visits to factories…
…and they likely aren’t communicating with each other very openly about their schedules!
voo da je?
Aw come on PetePierce – comparing Hillary to Leona Helmsley? Get a grip!
OT – I will be in Houston for 6 weeks starting March 12. Are there any FDL meetings in that neck of the woods? I would love to crash the gates of a Houston firepup meeting.
Back to regularly scheduling voting counting.
((( RBG )))
… busy night ?!! *g*
The Purple Porpoise, Burrito Brothers, and La Familia…:)
See ya’ll upstairs. Go Gators.
No Seminole??
It was rude of Obama to step on Hillary- but I like him the better for it- it takes some naked aggression to win at this game and he showed us some hair tonight.
His speech was incredible- won me over. Few humans can do what he does.
That’s good news if so. I think DNC should stick to their guns, and although it isn’t a popular “sexy” issue, I can’t see a downside to rotating primaries.
Oh yum, sometimes I really miss cooked foods.
Dunno. If there are, I haven’t been invited to any. I’d love to have coffee sometime, though.
I had never thought of that but you are right, I am warmer after eating raw foods even mr noted that.
Hey, we’re talking about msnbc. They folded on Imus. They weren’t about to do anything for Shuster when they felt a little heat.
your making me hungry!
And none of the is new news. Preacher, meet the choir! *G*
The question is, when will the MASSES figger out this simple stuff?
Oh, that answer ain’t new news, either . . . NEVAH!
We is what we is . . . disenfranchised, and 30% of the nation still fighting the Civil War and praying that slavery comes back.
It was one of those “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” things for the DNC. I saw something earlier on some of the backstage discussions. See here — I think this is the article I was reading earlier, butit may have been one from earlier than today. And also David at Calitics spoke with one of CA’s superdelegates as wel and published a bit of the discussion here.
If Hillary doesn’t want to have her speeches stepped on, she better figure out a way to win a primary. Period.
Well, that would be one way to do it, yes. But then, would you find it rude if she interrupted Barack in the first 5 minutes of his speech to give hers? (Because, yes, I would there as well. The tit for tat thing is just too petty for my taste.)
Wanna SMILE?
Yeah. It’s going to be over and they’ll get seated, if they pay their owen way to and in Denver or find someone to pay for them. Mauybe they’ll get reimbursed. But all of this talk about FL and MI is a time filler in a long, long, long campaign. But hey, this was a little too close for comfort and I hope the DNC learnt a lesson not to strip a state of all its delegates under similar circumstances. thay have to work out a national primary or regional primaries or just say screw NH and IA and let everybody go when they want.
Wow. Might be time to put the knives away.
Me am 2.
The ‘liberal’ blogs is the same misnomer as the Liberal Press is passed on to be.
*G*
Why? There’s plenty of differences amongst them to argue about!!
I think the BIGGEST debate should be to clear up the MISconception that democrats as a majority are liberal!
*G*
So the argument seems to be that it would be good manners for Obama to allow Clinton to give her concession speech without interruption. The only problem with this viewpoint is that Clinton hasn’t been giving concession speeches. She just launches into her stump speech, often complete with attacks on Obama, at a time when all the cable networks will give her coverage. I don’t see why manners obliges the Obama campaign to go along with that, giving her free airtime to get in her shots.
Some have suggested here that we don’t know whether there will be a concession later on in the speech, since the networks cut it off. Tell you what, just have your campaign put it up on YouTube and give a link to the gracious concession speech.
Eventually the real concession speech will come, and I expect that the winner as well as the loser will handle it with grace.
You said: “Tell you what, just have your campaign put it up on YouTube and give a link to the gracious concession speech.”
Whose campaign? you mean the Clinton campaign? I’m assuming so by context, but since we at FDL haven’t endorsed anyone in the primary — that’s been our firm policy so that we can do critique of all sides, that was a bit confusing. Don’t try putting words in Jane’s mouth or this blog’s either when we haven’t said them.
And then go and read her comment here about how Obama and Clinton have been trading the petty interruption trick back and forth since Iowa. Plus, the word from both campaigns is that the candidates spoke by phone. Yes, public acknowledgement is better — and more polite, and I’d certainly encourage the Clinton campaign to do so, but since we didn’t get to see the whole speech on the news, how in the hell do we get to know whether or not it actually did or did not occur?
Really, the nitpicky bullshit from all sides has got to stop. On teevee and in the comments by people who jump on the tiniest little thing to try and blow it up into some big, stinky mountain when it’s a tiny little molehill. It is getting on my last nerve.
“A holiday from history”, forsooth?
Can we please get a flap tomorrow about how John McCain is plagiarizing lines from Rudy 9iu11iani? Oh, I thought not.
Still, it’s warms my little Democratic heart that even after trailing Obama by 15%, Hillary picked up a passel more votes in Wisconsin than all the Republicans put together.
My friends in Wisconsin explained it to me this way. They are Republicans through and through and they state that there is an organized effort in Wi. to vote in the Dem primary so that Obama becomes the nominee because they believe McCain can easily beat him. How can our Democratic primary process allow this? What other states allow Republicans to vote in our primary/caucus? The DNC should worry about this more than any primary scheduling. At least ALL 50 states will be viable this time as far as choosing a nominee, but lets go all the way to the convention. I see the purpose of the Superdelegates now.
Brilliant strategy, McCain. Ask voters to discover for themselves how eloquent Obama is.
McCain started his Senate career a crook, and has ended it a kook.
