It’s the dems to blow.
Shhhhhhh………..
CNN’s playing Hillary’s speech right now.
wow…. two in a row…. from someone who has already voted, getting tried of the nitpicking…. look at the vote numbers…. Holy cow….. Dems blew away all the Repugs…
Dang, katymine, you’re quick!
epu’d:
Good evening dear friends.
As a Texas Dem who reads a fair bit of political news each day (and blogwhores it towards this site), I was surprised to hear Obama mention that we have a caucus as well as a primary on the 4th. Anyone know about this?
reply
I hope this doesn’t sound too harsh, but the entire purpose of this long grinding exercise is to beat the Repugs into total and complete submission. It is quite obvious who can accomplish this.
Keep showing that photo. It is going to take us to victory in November. As to WI, it is Hillary’s Last Hurrah. She will fight the March 4 primaries for form’s sake, but her money is drying up. Nobody wants to be on the short side of a bet, and her bet is now long odds. People who have wealth at stake have an interest in not antagonizing the next POTUS. They can’t afford to take chances. She’s cooked.
Norah!
The GOP is dying. Someone tell the media.
-G
I’ve heard Edwards doesn’t care for Obama. What happens if he gives his delegates to Clinton?
Just a little comment about the concession speech (controversy) by HRC that Obama should have waited for before he made his victory speech.
HRC did not make a concession speech.
Obama had every right to make a speech at any time.
YA YA YA YA YA
They can’t hear you
Rachael’s on MSNBC
If Clinton was scheduled to speak at 8:30 and was late, is it really Obama’s problem?
Awesome – now we get to watch the Clinton camp get even sleazier! And lose by even greater margins!
Question for the upcoming days: will we be able to discern any difference between what Clinton says and what McCain says? They already sound identical in their pooh-poohing of hope.
Let’s not get overconfident. Do you really think the GOP is simply going to roll over and play dead? This will be a full contact election for every post that matters! Swiftboating works.
Boxturtle (Bill Clinton is dating your granddaughter!)
And she’s looking fine tonight!
The Democrats clearly don’t give a red shit about the race or gender of their leaders.
Look at the numbers.
-G
P.S. Sen. Clinton took a real hit for negative ads according to exit polls.
Good point, and that could definitely happen.
In response to the pre-emption of Hillary’s speech by Obama, when did MSNBC cut in? Hil’s speech was scheduled for 9:00 to 10:00. Did she run over?
this is an important point … the GE will be nasty. and the thugs will pull out every stop … keep yr eyes on the ball, folks!
Found this at the Orange Lord’s site. Hope it’s useful.
Rachel is amazing and beautiful.
It was scheduled for 8:30 and started late.
Pat on MSNBC is saying that McCain can get Hilary’s voters he never says why? I’ve yet to hear any Hilary supporter say I will vote for McCain rather than Obama.
I hope Pat, Karl and the GOP is believing the Magic numbers of the ”math”.

OT.
Iraq update. Al Sadr has reportedly called off cooperation with SIIC the other large Shiite political group. This may be a sign that he’s going to pull the plug on cooperating with the US.
McCain and Bush have left the US troops in a very bad spot.
-G
They plastered WI with negative ads the last few days — the article about Mark Penn that I linked up earlier in my piece on Clinton campaign strategic errors talked about how they were worried about spending that money just to keep things close there.
interesting to see that obama got a higher percentage of votes than mcbushain did. add that to clinton getting more votes than all thugs and it’s looking pretty encouraging for us …
Wisconsin came through, saw the negative campaign and the really stretched move to the solutions argument. For the moment, it is a good time.
And, the plus is that the republican turnout was abysmal.
Get used to it, we’ll probably run it a couple of thousand times before November.
Will the MSM talk about total GOP vs Dem numbers?
and we do want negative campaigns to be negatively reinforced, no?
I should scan some of the lit pieces Hillary sent out and post them. I only have a couple because we’re not in the demographic most of them targeted. I wonder if my parents kept theirs…
no, that’s waaaay too scary. And sets things up wrong for the inevitable vote fraud come november …
Last I saw, he had 26 delegates. Not significant.
Check this out, too:
http://www.burntorangereport.c…..aryId=4877
Not likely. They want McClusterfuck to win.
I suspect that there would be many that would “rebel”. And I’m unsure if a candidate whose campaign is suspended can insist his delegates vote for anyone but HIM on the first ballot, thereafter they are released from that committment. But it is their own decision.
I Can So Not Keep Up Here Tonight.
But, yeah, Rach’s wearing a lot of mascara tonight. And poofier hair. Oh God, I just hope she doesn’t go blonde.
I’m just kidding y’all.
Too much speeches talk in my head.
Can someone help me please? I wrote a letter to Senator Stabenow after I was told (and looked – I thought) that she voted for giving immunity to the telecoms. Tonight I received a reply from her (below) Am I wrong? Is she wrong? Do I owe her an apology? Is she lying?
lol, I was downstairs rattling of to myself. I better lay off the ‘happy’ tea
Good for America. Homelandians….well, that’s their problem.
Got a link?
I would posit that Hillary’s ads have a net negative affect on her numbers. 2/3 of Obama’s victories come from his campaign message, and the other 1/3 comes from Hillary’s inept and narrow message. I bet that Obama’s staff enjoys every last stale and useless ad that Clinton puts out and racks it up as a net positive for them.
Maybe this is easier for me to see because I am not really a Democrat.
OK, so I am registered as one in IL so that I can vote in the primary, but, honestly, if the Republican party would ever field anything other than total idiots and really big time crooks (as opposed to persons with petty ethical challenges otherwise known as human beings) I might consider the option.
That said, is there anyone in the room who doesn’t think that the next SCOTUS appointment is crucial. or who doesn’t think that their least favorite Democratic contender would not be a quantum improvement in domestic and foreign policy implimentation.
It’s all about magnitude.
NAFTA emerged under the Clinton Administration, and there was 8 years of ineffective Iraq policy, and a heath care reform iniative which went nowhere.
But 8 years of RNC/Bush/Cheney have made those shortcomings look like a friggen Golden Age.
And I will work my ass off to return mediocrity … or empty suite platitudes … or if we are lucky, real progress from eiother candidate.
Because the alternative is simply unthinkable.
So
Hillary is has the potential to be the best President this nation has seen in…oh 50 years.
And Obama has the potential to be a true uniter of a divided nation and an inspirational leader.
I gotta like both choices.
Neither will pick a cabinet of misfit losers and idiots.
We win either way.
That will certainly keep you warm … *g*
Or share it around!
here’s the nyt also worrying about the propriety of “competing” speeches between obama and clinton …
Stephanie!
Been there, done that! I’ll probably be ready to start the “happy tea” tomorrow, the way my cold is progressing… Glad you came upstairs!
Um…yeah. Which is why I did a whole article earlier today on strategic blunders.
Okay, I only watch “Law & Order” and “The Wire”, so I’m not clear on what all of this unfair “attacking” is that they’re talking about. Hillary’s ads saying Obama wouldn’t debate her? I guess that’s an attack. An inept one, but still an attack. But I don’t see how it’s “unfair”. Ditto for the plagiarism accusation. Were there unfair attacks that I missed?
That’s funny. Been there.
The WI exit poll (in which a vast majority of whites and women supported a mixed-race, male candidate) actually asked if race or sex was a factor. Almost no one said it was a deciding factor in their vote. 86% said race was not a factor in their decision (of the 12% that said it was one of many factors the vote split evenly). Only 15% said that gender was an important factor (65% of those went towards Clinton).
Is the peanut all better now?
Thank you.
of course, if they ran someone else, they wouldn’t actually be republicans? if you want to be corrupt and on the gravy train, but not a total idiot or big time crook, don’t you run as a DINO? < end snark >
McCain is a VERY reckless man. He’s saying that Obama says he’ll ‘bomb Pakistan’. That is really an outrageous and dangerous thing to say.
Obama said nothing of the sort and McCain is lying and spreading dangerous news in order to prop up his pathetic campaign.
Obama better slam this shiny headed warmonger poste haste.
-G
Well said.
And I love the way,he lights up the young people.
Can you name anything he’s accomplished?
– Tweety
Ah, the Gray Lady has taken to the fainting couch, clutching her pearls…
Negative ads do work. Sometimes they work on the attackee and sometimes they work against the attacker.
-G
which I didn’t see till now. as always, thanks! your’s are always among the must-reads. greatly appreciated.
Glad I got the chance to vote for Edwards, even in a non- binding primary…I remember reading HRC’s book when it came out, and reflecting on how much I admired her, when I was done…I so want to support her. But man, the negative ads (Thou Shalt Speak No Ill Of Another Democratic Candidate), the telecom money, the healthcare money, the war…she makes it freaking difficult!
Hey demi
happily, I have a few bottles of cachaca left from my christmas visit home and would gladly share the wealth lol
List Barack Obama’s accomplishments as a US Senator– now.
-Tweety
Republicans decided to stay home besides their big fireplaces and watch porn.
Chris Matthews is now being a raging dickhead.
-G
Obama or McCain?
I don’t believe Sadr was ever cooperating with the US. He had ordered a ceasefire, but not even the sort of “cooperation” that the Sunni tribes have had.
Tweety just set up a state senator with Stephanie Tubbs Jones and has embarrassed him badly.
Tweety should be ashamed
You’re most welcome. It seems an awfully confusing process to me…
and worrying about her investments. oh my god! don’t these people know their place!
Keith’s going to kick Tweety’s ass during the break!
Tweety is using Bill O’Reilly dickhead tactics.
-G
Warning…Feel Good Story Alert!
This, from the guy who obviously thought it was cute to sing “Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran?” Feh.
That was an interesting bit.
He asked the question about legislative accomplishments about four times and man, the blank look. The uh, uh, uh was so embarassing.
He’s gotta be slamming his forehead on a door on the way out right now.
Here’s a quick (not exhaustive) county wide breakdown for my CD. Real noticeable difference between rural/urban.

Outagamie 86/90 11,013 39% 16,997 60%
Looks like I will need to arrange for a ride for that evening. May need a ride to the polls themselves as well. Do I call the Obama campaign? Or the local dem party?
Rachel (Maddow)…*g*
Is there a pool for when the MSM is going to turn on Obama to provide cover for their man, McCain. They’ve been nipping at the heals a bit but it’s going to turn darkly serious before too long. My guess is in about 6 weeks. If you hated what the MSM did to Gore in 2000 you haven’t seen anything yet.
Point being that anyone residing in Chicago who thinks that Dems are inherently more honest or intelligent thatn Republicans is blind.
Local politics is thick with corruption and idiocy.
But the trash gets picked up and the streets are plowed
Reliably.
Shit, my representitive is Rahm Emmanual – who I assure you is even more repulsive in person.
I have zero personal identification with the Democratic Party.
I just vote for em on a regular basis.
Wow. Keith O basically called Matthews an asshole, which he is.
-G
I turned them off but even Keith was disgusted with that one.
I liked the way KO smacked down Chris there. “This isn’t Hardball”.
No Change McCain!
tweety is an ass for all seasons and never fails to live up to pure assiness
Noron, my love…*g*
“McCain is a VERY reckless man. He’s saying that Obama says he’ll ‘bomb Pakistan’. That is really an outrageous and dangerous thing to say.”
Is McCain nuts its his base that does not care about international rules and wants SOMEBODY to go after Ossama.
Ok to be fair if it means getting Ossama I don’t care either Bush has certainly given Pakistan enough Billions in bribe money er aid to pay for the privilege to go after Ossama in Pakistan.
I think you have just found the one issue which might get us 30%er votes:).
70% Wi precincts

He was in the guy’s face. But it was a legitimate line of questioning. He should be able to offer up what Obama has to show for his time in the Senate. I’m sure there are talking points for the question somewhere in that Texan’s pocket.
Rachel!
Norah!
Betsy, you can call either.
-G
That man was a Texas State Rep and was probably asked on to say he supported Obama.
Negative campaigning in the primaries=opposition research for Republicans.
that is interesting. we live in a rural part of the front range of Colorado. and in our precinct caucus, the split was 50/50 clinton/obama. while obama won CO 2/3 to 1/3. interesting to see it play out the same way.
*putting on nomex and kevlar lined mod suit and climbing into mod tower. strapping in with 5 pt safety harness and firing up the troll zapper*
g’evening all
as i said on skippy, clinton’s accusation of plagiarism, even if it can be construed as accurate, smacks of desparation on her campaign’s party. if, as she implied, obama is “all hat and no cattle,” why is she making such a big deal of where he got his hat, instead of pointing out his lack of livestock? also:
“he’s a plagiarist, for sure. jayson blair told me so.”
I gotta say that I am impressed with Obama’s effectiveness.
Well, some of them may have been out cross-dressing… You can’t make this stuff up, you know…
50% of precincts later and numbers shift by 1%
hey there suzanne
He made the point and then shoved the mans face in shit. Like the slobbering bully that he is.
He should be relegated to calling Jello wrestling matches.
-G
That’s for sure! He’s good at it, though. I watched him slap Eric Cantor around, and that’s saying something. Cantor is also a world class ass, but Tweety is in a class by himself.
Yep…yep…yep…I loved it! What a putdown, and the people in the studio lapped it up…humiliating for Matthews, who thought he had scored over the state senator Obama supporter…and then ZAP!!!
hey wobbly
Well Hillary has used bits of others campaign speeches in her stump speeches, and she certianly has uncredited speechwriters. Do you believe that she actually writes all those things she presents.
Lastly the fact that Obama and Deval Patrick had used, mutually, much of the same material has been known since last year. It was published in the Boston Herald that they cooperate on message strategy…with each others permission.
So the fact that Hillary does the same thing, and that it’s been well known is an “unfair” attack. It wasn’t plagiarism any more than her not crediting her speechwriters makes her speeches plagiarism. It was done with Deval Patrick’s permission and knowledge.
I believe you are going to need all of it.
Hi there…some night, eh?
Actually, as it turns out, she was talking about Bush being “all hat, no cattle.” Apparently (but not surprisingly) media outlets pulled that quote out of context and misconstrued it to stir the pot. SIGH
Some weeks, it feels like all I’m doing is chasing down improper media errors. I think Media Matters had this earlier…but I can’t remember for sure if that was where I saw the full quote or if it was elsewhere.
Pat just said that the Dems? Obama got more votes than McCain and huck combined, catch me I think I’m goin faint:)
i meant, “on her campaign’s part,” not “party.”
sorry.
hey fern
hey biodun
certainly not crazy about ol’ chris, but interesting to see the clinton campaign trying to argue that super delegates should decide the nomination contrary to primary / caucus results … don’t they realize that the super-d’s will follow the money? and the money is not looking good for the folks from arkansas right now …
Correct. He ordered a stand-down.
Al Sadr’s followers allege they are still under attack. If he calls off his cease fire it could get really bad, really fast.
-G
Now THAT’S a Republican nightmare . . . 1000s of (likely) democratic voters, unwilling to put up with games being played that put their ability to vote in jeopardy.
Just a hunch, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see this picked up over the next couple of days, including KO’s “Best Persons” segment.
And I love the fact that because there are only two voting machines available, they may force the elections officials to keep the office open way past 5PM.
Wow. And the article didn’t say he was a Puke. I mean, besides saying he was cross dressing.
Yey!
egregious on the ground in WI…the state that decided it all for Obama… *g*
Pat Buchanan causes me to have panic attacks…I’m not joking…his
“shrillness” sends me over the edge…
Mute!!
And that is after years in Raging Dickheads Anonymous. What a sorry man.
Link, please.
Reagan Democrats are in their 90’s. Get a new talking point Pat.
-G
Jeebus, Howard Fineman is getting his leaks from Mark Penn. I’d bet money on it. Lovely.
If the message he’s pushing is that negative shit works, and it catches as the lesson learned today, I swear I’m going to have to start drinking heavily to make it through more primary coverage.
wow, scary … you mean, like admitting what actually happened? but, but, but, that’s not our reality, and like, we create reality …
he just makes me itch….allergy?
Missed it, dangit. Hope Amato grabs that.
He sounds like a barking miniature poodle.
he also makes me itch
The exit polls showed a similar trend Urban 62% Obama Suburban 54% and Rural 53%. I wonder if a couple of those rural counties you cite are from the Northwest, though. That far reach abutting Canada tended to lean Hillary.
so, when are hawaii caucuses tonight? I probably can’t stay up late enough to see results (on east coast this week …)
You might want to get some tips from Keith…see my 109…*g*
Well, since Egreg has taken my role in updating results (/highfive egreg) I’m off to bed. It’s been a long day/week.
Hope the Pups on the Islands are having fun caucusing!
“And whether she’s willing to do that frontally, I don’t know…”
– Fineman
Bottoms up!
I just don’t understand why so many people seem to take more joy in piling on Hillary than in celebrating Obama’s victory.
Yep, no argument there.
Catch you? Nah… I’ll send you here so you can see for yourself that it’s crowding 3:1 turnout. (I have to stop an fan myself after typing that!)
Matthews looked like an amateur blabbing ‘This is Hardball’ and Keith said…”No it’s NOT!”
-G
I think you are right on the money on that point.
Too bad for Hillary she is getting her info from Mark Penn as well.
No, we’re NE Wisconsin, abutting MI, not Canada, eh? :)
That is it. I’m allergic.
and what’s w/ the thugs having both caucus and primary in WA state? Are they going to steal the primary for mcbushain the way they did the caucuses?
amazing to see them steal from themselves …
Off to bed. I’ll probably wake up around 2 and check in on Hawaii’s results.
I don’t get that, either, to be honest.
The longer this race goes on the more press we get which I hope we use to talk about ideas.
The GOP is talking crazy win the war but not raise taxes? Nobody believes that, we want their contest to go on as long as possible too!
you are incorrect – my celebration is entirely centered on Obama’s victory.
I think the Obama people…as they will be organizing the supporters for their candidate and will give you a ride if you need one. The party committees have to remain “neutral”. I suppose that you could call the Clinton campaign too. But they might not be too happy if you ditch them.
I wake up at 3 CT every frikkin’ night.
Well, he was appointed in 2004. I presume W did that…
He seems to be on Qua*l*des most of the tine he’s on hour, yet MSNBC has him on just about every night…
I agree. Its all been about how Hillary can trick him and win or go negative and win.
Obama won shouldnt he get a minute of congrats.
zap me, momma, zap me!
Petetrr, you think they’re voting for Hil?
hahahahahaha…sorry, I couldn’t hold a straight face.

I’m doing neither, I’m bemoaning a cold
trolls do not operate with the same finesse as folks on KO but thank you anyway
no – you want me to :)
Wow! That’s a much bigger spread than I expected and really could mean some delegate differentials for Obama. Any word on delegates being allocated based on the votes yet?
Did he say that?
If the shoe fits…
At his point it is looking like Dems eating their own.
Please dont let them damage what we have achieved.
Christy, in the last thread you asked me……in substance at least… if I wouldn’t think it rude if HRC won and Obama started to speak first and she interrupted him. I don’t know. I don’t know that what BO did was rude. My take is that whomever wins can make the rules. for that night at least. So, I would have no problem with her stepping on BO. Assuming she ever wins again. I’m sure that there’s enough pettiness to go around but I don’t think grabbing TV time for yourself while at the same time taking it away from your opponent (and at the same time giving yourself an opportunity to rebut what the opponent just said) is petty. It’s smart. And if HRC did it, I’d say the same thing. But enough of that, no?
Me: 2 AM CT…
Well, what actually happened was a bunch of people jumped on Obama about the speech timing.
Yes, it was hilarious! I hope someone posts it on youtube or crooks and liars!
Thank you. It does.
cnn just showing 20 to 14 delegates now, but delegate count tends to lag behind voting percentages significantly. will be interesting to look at it tomorrow and see what the real diff is.
If Hillary hasn’t figured out that Penn is a problem by now…well, that is a question of judgment..
Republicans are surely salivating over the thought of live sex shows with donkeys in old Habanna.
Yes they can! Yes they can!!!
Except it may only tell them what DOESN’T WORK. But why do their work for them. And certainly avoid quotes that they can use on the air…although for some reason having Hillary Clinton in an ad satying bad things about Obama might not convince many independent and crossover (”runaway”) Republican voters!
It sure ain’t McCain or Huckabee.
Brain bleach… brain bleach… I need brain bleach!
LOL..Of course. I hope you got my snark earlier…or did I fail at that again…I just never know…
Nuthin’. She’s a loser. Can’t see why he’d give them to a loser or why they’d go to her even if he tried.
betsy,
if you’re here, i was epu’d:
precinct caucus starts as soon as the primary voting closes at 7pm. march 4. our precinct caucus is at the elementary school where our voting is. i’ll bet if you check with travis county dems, they’ll guide you to your precinct’s caucus. it’s multi-layered. and delegates go to the county or state caucus from there (a different date)
Agreed that the commentary is very much what can HRC do…and overly so. But in the end what he’s doing is working nicely, he doesn’t need to do anything differently.
andrea mitchell makes me itch as well but her voice is like nails on a chalkboard
It is weird…happening for years..what is up with that????
brain bleach containers (55 gal drums) located at each entrance and exit to the lake. one gallon jugs are located at each power strip.
i stocked up
Wisconsin is the tipping point!
Obama’s got both momentum and traction. The Democratic nomination is for all intensive purposes over.
This Nov the Dems are going to win big time with a massive popular vote majority. A nice governing majority to get things done.
It’s finally going to be fun after 8 years of darkness!!!
this is for texas march 4: for all texans, the precinct caucuses for delegates start when voting in the primaries is over at 7:00pm.
Exit polls there showed a pretty close race 51% Obama – 47% Clinton. So one might think that the Urban-Rural differentials were more intense than in the areas around Milwaukee and in the South (where Obama did a little bit better 53%).
Worse is that she snuggles with Alan Greenspan.
-G
What we were saying earlier, yes?
*
Biodun: fb
Are you kidding? What else do they have to run on?
Ew. Suzanne, would you pass me some of that brain bleach?
Buchanan is a knucklehead. The idea he was pushing was that BO couldn’t get whites, especially white males. Wrong. So I guess he’s recycling it for the general. The assumption appears to be that HRC’s voters voted for her because they won’t vote for a black man. Um…. c’mon Pat. Enough of the race warfare. it’s not makin’ any sense.
Agreed. It’s hard to come to a different conclusion with the results looking like 57-42 in a state that can’t really be rationalized as unrepresentative or otherwise unimportant.
so ….
the thugs know they’ll lose in nov. so they put up mccain who will get slaughtered, so they can say that any deviation from the party line doesn’t work and then they can run someone nice and safe next time around. and that candidate will know that he has to pay off all the right people in order to win … meanwhile, they repeat the obstuctionism of the clinton years and just hope things get worse and worse …
meanwhile cheney is on life support so he can be vp again in 2012 …
Good night all
Thanks pups
Is there absentee voting for these?
Oh. Good answer.
election fraud?
Trying to keep it all straight for the historians. FDL will be primary source material for people wanting to understand the influence of blogs on politics as the country pulls out of our neoconservative nightmare.
I loved Jerry Brown, but I’ve never forgiven him for going negative on Clinton in ‘92, and leveling a bunch of charges about Hillary and Rose Law…IIRC, that was the origin of the charge.
Thanks, Jerr.
just put a fresh jug under all the chairs – self service
Thanks for that. Now I will have to stay up hours to put that out of my mind before I can go to sleep.
Woo Hoo, too close to call in Washington State!
Yeah Hillary! Take it all the way to the convention!
Buchanan is actually pretty ‘mart fir a douchebag.
;~P
Why is Noron calling Washington “a beauty contest?” I’m obviously missing something…
Well, yes, but that’s technically not in the party platform.
bio time-clock, and it has nuthin’ to do with my name…)–(but for me, not years but 4 weeks–new assignment with the UK. Have to be up before their day is over…speaking of which, gotta listen to Enya and then hit the futon…guess I’ll be seeing Eureka Spring or Attaturk later..or maybe Suzanne even…)
See you all…Nighty night Jane and Christy: I suspect you’re both out there…*G*
Sure hope you’re right but I still think the wild card is the MSM. The bulwark to the status quo.
Because she’s beautiful!
ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww but then again, everybody needs lovin lol
I don’t think so. They want to reward those who are committed enough to actually participate in a caucus. If one could absentee ballot the caucus then why not just distribute all the delegates to a Primary election. They expect physical, in person attendence for a period of time.
Pups…I’m heading off to sleepy time.
LS and Biodun, I guess I’ll be talking to you guys in the middle of the night.
:)
cnn shows mccain in WA at 47% w/ huck and romney getting 44% between the two of them …. thugs are not exactly following the instructions to line up behind mcbushain …
I heard that on MTP this weekend. Sounds possible, that they think they’re gonna lose big so drop it on McCain’s head.
Because no delegates are awarded. They were all awarded in the caucus for that state, for the Democrats.
Obama is running the identical campaign that Deval Patrick ran in MA in 2006. Look at Patrick’s poll numbers today–they’re sinking fast.
The voters of MA bought the “change” meme then, and they’ve got buyer’s remorse now. They have a governor who was all talk and no action. He hasn’t passed any major legislation to support the promises he made the MA voters in 2006 and now he spends a lot of his time on the campaign trail with his buddy Barack.
You Obamapods can hope all you want, but I can’t wait to see what happens in the GE [McCain will make mincemeat out of him when it comes to national security]. Remember in the GE, everybody is voting, not just latte liberals and cross over Republicans who became Democrats for a day. How many of those who voted in WI were Repugs encouraged by their local party to vote for Obama because McCain had it locked up??? They’re doing the same thing in TX! How many Independents did the same in the various Dem primaries and caucuses??
Obama hasn’t been tested in the MSM–they’ve loved him so far, but they adore McCain. They hate Hillary with a passion, so Obama was a convenient tool to wipe her out. They’ll rip him apart because they don’t need him anymore. Aren’t you all a bit tired of the MSM destroying our better candidates [Gore, Kerry, etc.]???
Don’t be too cocky, Obamapods. This election was robbed from the Dems by the Repugs and you all will be crying in the fall and we Hillaryites will be there to tell you [like the MA voters already have about Deval] WE TOLD YOU SO over, and over, and over again.
huh? no delegates are awarded on the dem side
did MTP mention vp-for-life cheney in ‘12? hard to imagine that guy letting go of the reins …
Thank you Mark Penn.
Don’t forget-there’s a new thread….
Feel free to post comments — but knock off the “Obamapods” crap. We’re all Democrats, and the name-calling is not appropriate. Capice?
Obamapods? can’t someone come up with an original insult? You can’t compare the two candidates well except that they’re both black and we know that’s not what you’re doing, right?
yah, well, she didn’t really pinpoint whom she was referring to, but you are correct in that the media inferred she was also talking about obama. (however, it was the texas media, and she made the remark in texas, so i guess that counts for somethin’)
still in all, i never metaphor i didn’t make a joke about, and i still wonder why her campaign resorts to nit picking about something she’s already established as insubstantial (ie, his speechifying).
again, let me add the caveat that i’m not supporting either obama or clinton, i hold ‘em both in disdain equally.
Obama is gonna put a beating on McCain … though I would caution all of you to watch out for Diebold …
Pat Buchanan was Nixon’s speechwriter, so race and racism has always been something he’s tried to use to create fear in people. But that’s something that has slowly been declining as a successful tactic with each generation (73% of White voters b/w 18-24 in WI voted for Obama). In addition Obama isn’t someone defined on racil politics. He’s not a niche player, or someone that uses racial identity as the centerpiece of his campaign to target specific issues of injustice. It’s not a tactic, he communicates the broader interdependence of economics, opportunity, and justice to the benefit of all Americans (well almostr all).
wise words … we gotta win the nov GE big cause they’re sure gonna do everything they can to steal it … only chance is waaay big margins.
oops .. meant to quote Petrocelli at 225
Oooh! We have a new impolite visitor who likes to call names. “Obamapods”? Wonder where that’s from?
you can early vote anywhere, just about anytime. check this website for places and times: here.
for precinct caucus on feb 4, call obama campaign to get a ride to your precinct. or vote right before the caucus and do it all at once.
so far, Hillary has more votes than McCain, Huck and Paul combined in WI. And thats without even considering that Barak has yet more than that.
A problem with your reasoning is that I’ve been hearing the exact opposite from friends of mine that work at fairly high levels of campaigns, including some in WI, and the word is out to vote for Hillary in open primaries if you’re a Repub. I saw a video online from WI that exit polled a bunch of voters in a “red” district, and nearly half said they were Repubs voting for Hillary since the Repub Party told them to. They seemed giddy about it.
Poll after poll is now showing Obama opening up double-digit leads over McCan’t across the country, while at the same time, Hillary loses to St. John almost across the board. My own anecdotal evidence backs this up, and most people that leave comments here as well.

Some people are having a hard understanding what’s happening with Obama’s campaign. The old tricks don’t work anymore. People are tired of it. It’s a whole new era in America. The more Hillary tries to “go negative,” the more ground she loses, so it logically follows that if someone tries to get more negative, they’ll fall even farther.
Only time will tell how Obama will actually be as a President, but that’s true of anyone. And Deval Patrick has done some dumb things already, so if as you say he’s dropping in popularity (any proof of that?), I’d say it’s about some petty decisions he’s made. Deval and Barack are two entirely different people with radically different backgrounds.
Hawaii Caucus Report:
I just got back from my Democratic Caucus in Honolulu (District 25), and it was a phenomenal night! We had a huge line of new voters, and another huge line of people registering as Democrats for the first time– so many that we ran out of Democratic Party registration forms! If we had designed the influx better, we would have had a third line for registered voters who are already members of the Democratic party, but weren’t sure which precinct they were in (we would have processed everyone faster.) People had gotten word of a possible huge turnout. I brought a friend with a disability and arrived early, about 5:30 (voting was to begin at 7 PM). At that time, almost everyone there was a volunteer worker, but soon people coming to vote were arriving early. Some came expecting to vote early, registered, and then had to leave before voting even began.
Everyone had to go to their precinct table to await the official time for the caucus vote, 7:00 – 7:30 PM. The procedure was that everyone had to sign in at their precinct, get a ballot and vote. Unfortunately, we had no microphone or loudspeakers in the room full of hundreds of people! The poor district president had to try to shout over the din to move us along to the next point on the “agenda”.
It was then up to the precinct officers (like me) who had to match up sign-ins with votes in order to validate. We didn’t have to match each vote with each sign-in, but the totals had to match. We basically had to trust that people would not vote unless they had signed in, and that they would only vote once! Some precincts quickly ran out of Precinct Sign-in forms, and I barely had enough. Our tables were filled to overflowing. Once balloting started at 7:00, there was mayhem for a while. In my precinct, everyone left as soon as they voted. No one in my precinct stayed for the “party business” that was supposed to come next. But even after my tables had voted and emptied out, there were still long lines with new voters, and newly registering Democrats who needed to know what precinct they were in. Consequently, I was kept busy with a trickle of voters long after the voting was supposed to end. Finally, about 8:00, we got the call (or “shout”) to start counting ballots. Of course, the ballots in each precinct had to be signed off by two people. By this point, I was the only person left in my precinct, so I had to get help from another precinct.
There were FOUR names on the ballot: Clinton and Obama, of course, but also Kucinich and Edwards, even though they had dropped out, and “Uncommitted.”
My precinct, most of which was easy walking distance from the school Obama attended, went heavily for Obama, 56-8. All precincts in our District went heavily for Obama, about 3:1.

Report from Wisconsin from my youngest brother’s wife:
Curiouser and curiouser!

Of course more people think Hillary Clinton makes unfair attacks than Obama does. They’ve been told so over and over again. Media headlines “Clinton Attacks” and “Obama Responds”. I honestly believe it’s all over for Hillary Clinton and I’m heartsick.
I’ve watched my candidate take a pounding from MSM and most of Left Blogostan and it has made me sick. I’ve been excoriated on “liberal” blogs for being a Hillary supporter with more vitriol than I used to get attacked by Rightwing Trolls.
The Primary is probably all over but the shouting and I think Obama will win.
I don’t like Republicans and so will never vote for McCain. But I don’t like sexists and their surrogates any better and thus my conscience and my integrity will never allow me to vote for Obama.
Talking to a different kind of exit pollster after casting my vote in the Wisconsin primary. The young woman who interviewed me on a cold Wisconsin night was an Iraq War vet. She wasn’t conducting a survey for the media but about the media.
