Joebasic tips us to this at Corrente:
From NBC/NJ’s Mike Memoli
CANTON, OH — Robert Holeman came to Timken High School here today with a message to deliver to Bill Clinton. He did — and he said the former president wasn’t happy about it.Clinton spoke to a capacity crowd in this Northeast Ohio town, the third of five events today in the Buckeye State. He told voters that the contest was “the power of speeches against the promise of solutions by a world-class change maker.”
Throughout the event, as Clinton made his case for his wife, Holeman’s dissenting voice could be heard. At times he simply shouted Obama’s name. When Clinton would set up a sure applause line, Holeman could be heard heckling. As soon as Clinton finished speaking, the Canton native made a beeline to the ropeline to give Clinton a piece of his mind.
“I asked the president to please stop the bickering between the campaigns,” Holeman said in an interview afterwards. “All this name calling is like the bully in the yard. He can’t get his way, he can’t get nothing done.” Holeman said he thought Clinton was “gasping for air.”
“This is the last hurrah. After March 4, Hillary Clinton will be out of the race for good, and Obama will take the commanding lead,” he said. “She should back him with her delegates immediately. That’s what I’m asking them to do.”
Holeman said that Clinton responded by saying Obama came after him first. Holeman also described Clinton’s reaction to him as “irate.”
“I think he even hit me in the face with his hand,” he said. “He did give me a little pop. It was okay, because I understand his tenacity for his wife.” Clinton did engage Holeman for a few minutes, at times pointing directly at him. It was unclear whether he did make physical contact, however.
Drudge has this up right now with the headline "Bill Clinton Lashes Out at Obama Supporter." Mark my word, if Obama gets the nomination and the same thing happens with McCain the headline gets instantly rewritten to "Crazy Obama Cultist Heckles War Hero."
I’d bet you but I don’t want to take your money.

Is it November yet?
Not soon enough.
Good grief.
Is it January yet?
November is not enough.
I want the cabal out of residence.
Holeman needs to STFU. Arguing on the blogs is one thing. Disrupting another democrats’ campaign speech, and, for that matter, a republican’s, is stupid. Besides, it just wins votes for Clinton.
Why does FDL let Drudge drive their coverage?
In this house we are supporting Sen. Obama. But it’s going to get nasty. McCain is a nasty man and will employ all the dirty tricks known to Rove and the GOP.
Well, my wife and I were hoping to see Obama one more time today, but he got snowed out and headed off to warmer climes. Guess we can hope for one more time before November…
The heckler seems aptly named.
We think that HRC or Obama will eat Mr. McCain’s lunch in the coming debates.
I’m going to listen to classical music and soothe my soul. Enough already. Madness. There is too much serious work to be done. Oh hum!
I don’t necessarily think it will ‘win’ votes for anyone, it may just turn people off the whole process, period.
Sometimes it’s too good to pass up! ;-)
What’s going to win the slime game? “Black child” or “Muslim childhood”?
Pres. Clinton is coming to Marietta, Ohio tonight. It’s quite a bit south of me, and it’s a very stormy night.
We’re sort of the northern Tornado Alley.
“black child with Muslim childhood”?
This sounds like bullshit. He “thinks” Bill Clinton hit him in the face today, but he’s not sure? Gimme a break.
Ironically a ‘madrassa’ in Indonesia, which happens to be the most populous Muslim nation, is not the same as a madrassa in Saudi Arabia or Pakistan, in fact it was a secular madrassa…!
I’ll be glad, so glad, when we have our nominee.
It is occurring to me that all of this “Clinton has a bad temper” stuff is probably coming from the McCain people ultimately to offset McCain’s reputation for a bad temper. There was a story about Chelsea being “mean” to a mean student who approached her in a pretty disrespectful way. If you get in a candidate or surrogates face and you are really disrespectful and rude, you deserve to be rebutted.
This is all Rovian tactic crappola.
That sort of Republican-Rove-McCain hatred is coming. Full blast.
And end this circular firing squad mentality amongst us…! *g*
Republicans advocate torture and spying on US citizens.
First one – the slime in SC about McCain in 2000
Second one – Obama today
the meaning of the word ‘madrassa’ in arabic means ’school’, the same way we would use school, as in elementary school, junior high school, high school.
Yes. We will vote for the nominee of our party. And we will throw our support full force behind that nominee. Be it Hillary or Obama.
But madrassa in contemporary usage is an Islamic religous school.
Obama can handle these jerks and so can the Clintons…the Pukes are a bunch of old chicken farts.
The Pukes are on the defense, and the best defense is an offense.
I meant to mention that as well! *g*
God knows what Rove and his relics have planned for a possible HRC nominee. You go ahead Karl. And we will fight you with everything we have.
The Pukes are getting scared…I can see the whites of their eyes.
that’s contemporary western media usage to skew our perceptions of anything arab or muslim.
Sure it does. Just the way the word sounds tells you everything you need to know. Madrassas are clearly for brainwashing the next generation of jihadi warriors and preparing for them for The Great War of Civilizations.
Get ready to fire.
I heard part of an HRC speech today, and it was very good.
I dedicate this to the Loser Pukes…you better run on:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5aV_FAC9F4
I believe that’s the way it is also used in the Islamic world.
http://www.sourcewatch.org/ind…..e=Madrassa
the root of the word also means learning or teaching or just about anything to do with learning or teaching.
what our MSM does with the word is for brainwashing us for the war you are describing.
True if this happened to McCain the MSM would spread it all over the news with the title Negroes are dangerous just look at how they treat a war hero. Heck I bet this incident gets a lot more coverage in the South than in the North.
No wai! Why do you hate America?
Lahoma tells me she would like to see me in the ring for one 60 second round (I love to box) with Karl Rove. This is surprising. My lady is usually non-violent. She mostly tries to keep me out of trouble. Especially when we go dancing at these cowboy clubs here in Oklahoma.
Yes and NO, depending upon the country… Technically you’re right, but, as I’d noted it’s a generic term in many countries…! The secular school that Obama went to, was well attended by the US Embassy’s family members and other anglo foreign dignitaries’…!
I think she has improved as a speaker over the past month. Similarly, Obama has improved as a debater.
Why do I have to listen to comedians to get a reality point of view? George Carlin on voting.
the arab-speaking world uses the word madrassa to mean school, pure and simple. i am studying the arabic language and culture at the university of texas.
what western media has done with this is similar to many of its other perversions that we already know about because we live here and see what they do.
I do have to point out that argument being put forward by the Clintons is bogus.
“the power of speeches against the promise of solutions by a world-class change maker”
Both candidates will bring about change. It’s a ridiculous and empty charge.
We were very pleased with Obama last night.
i don’t hate america. why do you trust the media?
Which news outlets journalists are pushing Karl’s talking points on the Clinton’s now.? Is the MSM still repeating questionable news headlines word for word from Drudge Rush etc without fact checking or calling Bill up for his opinion of what happened first?
The time is coming to unite.
Time for us to collectively find our Gi, Ki, and/or Qi…! *g*
Kiddo@50: “The time is coming to unite.”
Yes. Down the road. AFTER we choose a candidate. And the other one drops out.
Not a minute before.
Other than Olbermann….
The talkers don’t come from Drudge…Drudge regurgitates what it is told to by the corporations…whoever controls the corporations, controls the media, controls the people (or at least tries to)….This time though, they have miscalculated the preferences of 70% of 300,000,000 people who consume what they have to sell. What we support as consumers is what dictates who has the power. Therefore, we have the power. They don’t want us to realize that in the true sense of the word “realize”. They have a “bottom line”, however, that bottom line is in serious jeopardy considering the state of the economy. JMHO.
I love that one of his. Thanks for sharing it.
Great catch!!
Kiat!!! Kiaiai!! ….whatever that phrase is we need when we release the forces….
We have to “get this”:
Rove
Rumsfeld
Wolfowitz
didn’t go anywhere!!!
Notice how the Republicans are no longer fighting among themselves. They have there nominee. McCain. The Bush family guy.
Correct.
And was not called a madrassa in any of the news reports I saw. I don’t watch Fox.
PhysioProf trust the media? Surely you jest!
John McBush!
Did you see Jane’s Botox article on McCain? As someone else (sorry, can’t remember whom to credit) pointed out, watch his left arm.
That would be correct, I like Aikido’s use of your opponent’s action against themselves, by redirecting it back…! ;-)
Ding!!
Our dreams will start to become reality come next November. Mr. McCain: you will be overtaken by the progressive express.
Hey…there’s no #57 comment…? It wasn’t mine.
Why choose.
“in his childhood as a black muslim.”
MUCH scarier that way.
excessive blinking = stroke
the botox post involved excessive blinking
his left arm looks rather stroke-ish.
There should be Clinton (or Obama, for the Obama campaign) video recording EVERYTHING so that it can’t be distorted in the general election.
Drudge’ll put that up right next to his screed that 60 Minutes is out to destroy the American Dream…happy Danes who wouldn’t want to raise their children in America’s greed culture; a Venezuelan conductor who could be the next musical “rock star”…what’s the world coming to….
And his adulthood as a white Christian…
Goddess, I hate the racism/religious framing….
Yes. That was pretty good. Lahoma liked it too. After reading it we both said, whew!
Hope your Sunday evening in San Diego is great. My daughter lives in La Jolla. ;0)
Snagged it from C&L. I’m a big Carlin Fan: The Real Owners of America
I completely agree. How much flak is the candidate supposed to put up with? All may be a set up anyway. Where’s the exit?
Particularly when ya have both… I think only an African-American Woman would be more challenged…! 8-(
Arm problem from VN torture Here’s from wiki:
I believe his left arm problems stem from his years in concentration camp. He has had it ever since I can remember . . .
Ooh, I left out the Muslim part…!
Mr. McCain’s physical behavior was, to speak kindly, bizarre. My lady fled the scene. She couldn’t take it.
More from McCain’s wiki
And I recommend that everyone read that section of McCain’s wiki before posting any more comments.
And now McCain says torture is okay.
Was it you I should credit, Mary? Unfreakingbelievable that the republicans would put up someone in this frail health as the candidate. They must have some sinister VP in the works. Thank you!
Jane’s video is really creepy.
Great Carlin video! Thanks!
I believe when he was beaten, as he was dragged out of the Lake in Hanoi, he’d had both arms badly broken, one leg and some ribs too… He’s truly lucky he survived…!
Mrs. Obama’s intellect can take on anyone.
Anyone.
Anyone.
Hey! Bill Clinton came to La Jolla on Tuesday. Was your daughter able to attend? ($2000. per!)
It’s all detailed in his wiki.
I may be wrong ofcourse, but it seems to me that anyone who has suffered the effects of torture should be dead set against torture.
Sorry to dissent, but what on earth is a former president doing engaging a heckler face to face? He can’t possibly look good doing so.
Another good one. I’m a big fan of his too. I hadn’t seen this one.
This might be worth checking out– a new song by Roy Zimmerman called “Superdelegate“
Considering he was forced to sign a bogus confession…!
Yeppers, torture really works…! 8-(
Wow! Huckabee is running TV commercials in Wisconsin, I haven’t had the chance to watch any yet.
I don’t see how anyone else but Bill Clinton is responsible for the stories about his temper, which have been around since he was the President.
The left arm is a residue of his war injury.
I swear, he’s determined to sabotage her dreams…!

I got a million of ‘em. Links that is…I wish I could write reality that well.
Yep McCain’s shoulders were dislocated and he can’t raise his arms above his head.
I think it gives credence to the theory that they have written off 2008.
Not publicly mind you, but given how image conscious we have become (to our detriment, of course) as a nation, I find it hard to believe they couldn’t come up with some tall, Byron York-haired candidate to run.
This has occurred to me.
Geez, there’s 3 or 4 echoes in here.
I think it could be time to roll out that “Clean for Gene” memo. But the kidzzzz would mock me for it.
Michele is a class act, similar to Elizabeth Edwards…! 8-)
I love it!
My little girl (she’s grown) is a liberal Demo and votes. But that’s as far as it goes. She’s not exactly what you would call political. She says politics are mama’s and papa’s department. She calls us her two hippie parents. She wouldn’t have gone of it was free.
This is just insane…
‘Britain’s overstretched Armed Forces are to send as many as 1,000 troops to the Balkans in a move that will see the military’s last remaining reserve unit deployed on operations.’
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/new…..rmy117.xml
Exactly, which is why logically he should oppose war in all forms and torture in all forms. But, he’s not, which is illogical. He must be operating from a mindset of revenge and/or some form of Stockholm Syndrome. Nothing else makes sense…at least to me.
Heh, my eldest is in Grad School for psychology, and very liberal, yet, I don’t believe she’s ever voted, even tho I’ve actively encouraged her to do so… Maybe because of it…! ;-)
DING!!
Once the general election campaign starts I think McCain, like Bush, will retreat to campaigning at closed events like military bases and VFW posts. Places that will be strictly off limits to democratic candidate, anti-war supporters. I expect the anti-war folks are going to be out in force after McCain and the campaign is going to want to avoid that kind of publicity at all cost.
I’ll bet you but I don’t want to take your money.
So why would he now support torture?
I think that’s between him & his family & his therapist. As for me, he’s completely unqualified to be prez for oh so many reasons, reagardless of what he went thru in VN. Being tortured in VN is not a qualification for being prez, IMO.
I didn’t know about McCain’s signed ‘confession’ until recently (or else I forget). I’m surprised Rush, O’Reilly and Coulter aren’t all over that. That’s just the sort of thing they usually criticize. I suspect they don’t really want to destroy his chances or they’d be using that against him.
He did for a while, but know he’s going for the basest of the base.
By that same kind of logic, a person would think Israel wouldn’t be doing what it’s doing in the occupied territories either, but it’s doing it. As a Jew, who’s got Israeli citizenship (as well as having been born here and lived most of my life here), not much causes me more anguish than to see what Israel is now doing.
People being oppressed, unfortunately, doesn’t seem to mean they won’t go and oppress others.
Exactly.
In some ways it’s hard to criticize McCain without crossing the line of proper respect for an older gentleman who was tortured as a POW.
You can’t criticize him for the afflictions of age or physical suffering.
You CAN criticize him for his statements that: we should stay in Iraq for a hundred years, that there will be MORE wars if he’s in charge and that somehow he’s been talked into saying (if not believing) that torture is not bad.
Don’t attack the man. Attack his positions.
That is asinine, as far as Britain’s forces are concerned , but, I think it’s a good idea strategically, since Kosovo is about to declare independence…! Serbia is none too thrilled about it…!
“now”, not “know”
Whenever you see St John McBush…remember this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSk9toKfrwo
No wonder the wingnuts love this guy…HE’s NUTS!
Male Menopause…? ;-)
My stepdaughter is in college (freshman)…she is an Obama fan…all on her own and with her peers. They can’t wait to vote the bums out. They know that the democracy and the earth are in danger. They pay attention. They love Jon Stewart and KO. They’ve been following along.
They know.
I guess the question is, I haven’t asked her, but the question is…what if Obama doesn’t become the nominee…
Will the youth just stay home or will they vote for HRC? They definitely won’t vote for McCain. I think she’ll vote for HRC if Obama doesn’t make it.
Israel/Palestine analogous to battered children who then go on to batter theirs. Much more complicated to be sure, but that’s part of it.
These behaviors are complex. I try to stick to evaluating outcomes. I’m not a judge who must determine a reasonable sentence, or a foreign policy advisor who must determine a productive interaction, so I don’t much care what the rationale is.
Ding.
One would think.
Would any HRC supporter care to explain the value of her experience vs. her Iraq war vote and not reading the NIE that was relevant to it?
What good is all that experience if it leads to such poor decisions?
My belief is her vote was made for political cover, which if true makes it ever worse.
Again, I’m not looking for a fight- just an answer.
Basically, I agree with you, however, I think that his choices reflect his mind-set.
We can know his choices. We probably don’t know his mindset.
I will vote for the Dem Nominee, irregardless, I’ve finally learned my lesson after voting my conscience the past two cycles for Nader…
I’m going to ask my friends who are refugees…one is Serbian and one is from Kosovo, and they are married…
Their family was severely tortured BTW.
They are amazing people.
That’s what I see in my classroom as well!
It’s hard to talk about the election and have the kids want to talk about anyone other than Obama. I was just poking around on Facebook and I don’t see anyone posting pics from any other rallies than Obama’s.
Considering I have students than run the gamut from Paulites and HuckaHeroes (I think that’s the term) to some that will vote for Gravel… no one is generating the interest, concern and discussions but Obama’s followers.
I don’t mean that as an insult to other candidates’ supporters, it’s an observation. The groundswell of support he has managed to turn into votes is simply amazing to me.
I don’t think a President McCain would allow torture. It’s like Hillary supporting a ban on flag-burning. Just trying to get elected pres.
I do believe, however, that he’d stay in Iraq for as long as he was pres.
He hasn’t gotten over losing in Vietnam. Who can blame him? All that pain and suffering, time lost, fear, and permanent impairments..for nothing. I think he doesn’t want that to happen to the guys in Iraq now. Of course, that isn’t rational but I can see him thinking that way.
That is an inspiring relationship, Mahalo! It is a positive result from a sordid saga…! 8-)
Uh, that should’ve been “even worse.”
Thank you. The Sierra Club Political Committee has very few guidelines for who they will support, but one of them, for sure, is electability. And, many of the candidates they support do win their races. I’ve always considered that a wise use of resources.
Kosovo declared today
Can we? His choices on torture have been reversed..now that he thinks he has some power backed by the Neocons.
He’s was once a Maverick…now he appears to be a patsy.
Whichever way the
mindwind blows….Book title waiting for a book to be written:
Wrong Lessons Learned From History
Surely it is. Their stories are horrifying yet inspiring. Sigh.
They all voted for it. It was 9/11 shock syndrome. Only a very few congressfolks voted against it.
We now know his latest choice and he should be judged (severely) on it. It’s probably the lowpoint of his life. And he deserves full responsibility.
I so totally agree with you.
I’d think better of MCC if he’d actually voted against torture. Voting for it (and doing it more than once) makes me wonder if he’s fully connected to the real world. (Rhetorical question – he’s a Publican, isn’t he?)
Mahalo, for the update! I knew it was only a matter of a day or two…! ;-)
An Obama supporter heckles the FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES to tell him to stop bickering between the campaigns and name calling? WTF? (I guess the dude never stopped to ask himself whether his own behavior amounted to bickering and bullying). When is someone gonna call BS on the fact that Obama’s people are just as partisan as anyone else — they just don’t own up to their own behavior?
We try not to ‘generalize’ too much about supporters understanding that you are going to have a few that make the rest look bad.
Trying to understand or figure out a person’s physical/emotional issues is important if they want to be president.
Catching up on MTP and its references:
Inside the Clinton Shakeup
Please Nominate this Couple by Kate O’Bierne
Say A Prayer for Hilary
I’m sure that Obama’s people are just as partisan as anyone else for a candidate.
And Bill Clinton made many positive contributions.
He draws huge crowds, and if I were the Clinton campaign I would use him a ton, but some of his comparisons don’t fly like the analogy to Jessie Jackson that Obama was a niche candidate, when as Frank Rich points out today:
Why would he support torture now? Because he’s running for the nomination of the pro-torture party.
Hi Margot,
As a graduate of Marietta College I think that’s kind of cool to hear! Hope all’s well at the intersection of the Ohio and the Muskingum.
You can be sure the Drudges of the world will position any and every Dem as a crazy leading crazies. This shouldn’t surprise you.
Come summer, as soon as the Dem nominee is named, that person will become the personification of all evils if these thugs control the conversation.
But there’s one small problem…America is fed up with the status quo of incompetence and incompetents who have delivered us into an unwinable war, ruined our reputation around the world, spied on us, chipped away at our constitution, invested in torture, handled a natural disaster like a third world country, and tanked our economy.
And the man they plan to nominate has been hugging and kissing the King of Incompetents for all the world to see.
And all King’s Drudges and all the King’s Tweetys can’t put that compromised soldier back together no matter how twisted they write it.
LooHoo@141: “They all voted for it….Only a few congress folks voted against it.”
You are very mistaken.
21 democratic Senators voted against it.
In the House, 126 democrats voted against it.
I understand you guys’ desire to try to wipe the blood off of Clinton’s hands, but you’d better get your facts right before you try it.
Claire Shipman showing why TV is by the dumb for the dumb. 4 reasons why Texas is not California with the Hispanic vote:
1) It’s later.
2) They don’t vote as a block.
3) HRC will have money problems compared to Obama as to ads.
4) Most importantly delegate proportion is entirely dependent on turnout for the midterms in 2006. It was rock bottom for Hispanics and very high for blacks.
Whoopsie Claire. Details’ll get ya every time.
Bill Clinton is so full of shit, one day he’s just going to float away.
Some have pointed out that “madrassa” means “school” in Arabic. However, what they didn’t notice is that they don’t speak Arabic in Indonesia, except when reciting from the Koran, which means they use Arabic the way Catholics used to use Latin.
In any case, no one in Indonesia ever called the school Obama attended a madrassa. When you explain that madrassa means “school”, you’re falling for it. They just made that crap up out of whole cloth.
It’s hard to understand the denial.
Obama is going to shred John McCain’s ass. Because he can.
And Hillary Clinton cannot.
What’s she going to say, if she debates him?
“It’s terrible, John; you supported the surge.”?
At which point, the GOP will drag out the clip of her applauding lustily at the SOTU, while bush was making his last koolaid sales pitch.
I believe that his range of mobility with both arms is impaired. The result of torture while a POW.
LooHoo:
He has limited range of motion in his arms from torture while a POW.
As I recall, films of him at liberation revealed an odd gait that is noticeable now as well and also from torture while a POW.
Injuries incurred in youth come back to haunt as we age but muscular/skeletal injuries do not necessarily otherwise effect general health.
Please remember, our greatest President was paralyzed from the waist down.
McCain went through terrible physical trauma in his youth, but that doesn’t mean his health is inadequate or that he lacks adequate vigor for the job.
I don’t think he’d do a lousy job because of his age or the injuries he suffered in his youth.
I believe he’d do a lousy job because he’s a Republican.
And as soon as Hillary is dispatched, Dowd will re-discover “Obambi”.
Wasn’t his arm broke when he was tortured? And hasn’t he had limited use of his arms since that time? I read somewhere that because of what he was subjected to at the Hanoi Hilton he never regained complete use of his arm(s). If true, making fun of him for not being able to use his arms is both repulsive and a sure-fire way to get him support based on sympathy for what he endured. Just saying…
Couldn’t agree more. Alienating potential voters seems a really stupid thing to do.
More like “Heroic Hero McCain Demonstrates Heroism by Single-Handedly Smacking Down Demented Obamazoid.”
