Aah, Suz, yer such a Tease…! *g*
Hey!
Fooled again!
Can’t Touch This
Sattiddy night…
I’m not dead yet!
Suz, from the last thread — that L7 song just occurred to me ;-)
I made it!
BOOM!
i shudda thought of it tho, LL. don’t any tell anyone k
g’nite busted – hope you feel better soon
OK, so I didn’t get the, ahem, first comment.
But I did get the first Digg.
Well done, Busted!
Saw tow movies tonight: Charlie Wilson’s War and Michael Clayton. Oh, George C.
Well- It’s hummer time SOMEWHERE in the world.
Obama time!
Suz, your secret is safe with me *g*
Cripes, TWO.
I LOVE merrie melodies!
thanks neuro
ET!
Suz – that last gag was great!
This is going to sound even better, the second time around…
well good night all. thanks for the wrm welcome over at the other thread. We all made it, the law expired and we’re still here. Kinda like Y2K.
thanks newton – so you gonna fess up what you thought that link went to?
g’nite Waiting, pleasure making your acquaintance.
Wasn’t THAT something Waiting in Texas.
night WiT. Welcome.
g’nite waiting – i’m still worried there is some west coast thing that starts it off – yanno, like on that 24 show that fearless leader is so fond of
John McBusah is in full shitheel mode campaigning and trying to get some GOP-er love.
He’s being very stupid.
-G
Has anyone noticed that despite Obama doing such a fine job getting African Americans to show up to vote that not one GOPer is talking about Condi as Vice President?
Knowing your sensibilities just a bit, I was certain it wasn’t a Jenna Jameson vid. But maybe a Hummer (vehicle) commercial.
Eggsactly! Aloha!
going to see Obama in Houston on tues. will let everyone know how it goes. can’t wait. nite pups
McBush——don’t know where McBusah came from.
-G
i thought her name was floated out last week as a possible VP for st john the torturer
Suuure ya did…! ;-)
I saw that on a few winger blogs. Someone even mentioned CJ Watts.
Hoofah.
-G
we will, of course, be needing a report when you get home. unless, of course, we are all dead by then. tuesday is what thers said was the day of the dead.
Maybe it’s because I so want change from the status quo, but Sen. Obama has me hook, line and sinker. I cannot get enough of hearing him speak, no matter the occasion or venue.
Yeah… boy can hope…
what were you thinking it was, CT?
I want a new chapter too, Lou. I’m a Hope Monger!
Hi Suzanne…
Kristol or one of the other RW pundits mentioned her as a VP for McCain…!
doodle — *clink* !
Suzanne!
I put up a poll at my place this evening. A week from now, the Anchorage Symphony will be presenting a concert sponsored by Exxon. Three days before the Supreme Court hears the class action lawsuit over punitive damages against Exxon over the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill.
When the ASO has a corporate sponsor for their concert, they ask the people in the audience to acknowledge the company’s contribution. My poll asks whether or not Exxon should be BOOED. Feel free to take part, pups…
I plead the Fifth… of Rye that is…! ;-)
hey biodun
I suspect that tuesday is the day the telecoms pull the plug on the whole spying thing or VerAtt is sending their hit squad after them.
I’ll give a full report on Obama rally.
I’ve not taken part in any of your polls since I’m not alaskan et. thanks for the invite to do this one.
Me three.
Hey Biodun, how are ya?
You really are one of us! Say good night and then stick around for 10 minutes.
Cool, I was able to vote Yes and moon them, too!
most excellent waiting!
that dayam new comments link sure is addicting aint it :)
dayam, i knew i forgot something
Boo and Moon, ET
ET, thanks — Exxon has been duly mooned.
Heh, only the Booing and Mooning have registered hits! I opted for the later…! ;-)
I’m cool…It’s been quite a day though, but right now it’s good…Thanks for asking…it’s cool..
Go, PUPS!!!
I wonder whether Homeland Security will have some thugs on hand to hustle out the booers and mooners and rendition them to Kazakistan to be tortured.
Siberia is only a hop, skip and jump away…!
Naden J Corinne has a biography of Condi aimed at toddler through kindergarden I think the White House press machine was getting a little to ahead of themselves. This kind of cult of personalty suggests a Presidential run.
Just who reads their kids political PROPAGANDA biographies even overbearing future genius parents wouldn’t read their kids propaganda or is this indicative of Mao like brainwashing?
http://www.powells.com/cgi-bin…..10911230-1
Biodun,
I so enjoyed your story last Saturday. And your posts are wonderful.
boosh is out scoping new locations in africa is my guess neuro
silence can be eloquent….. my two cents worth.
Really I saw Pumpkinhead today and the talking heads were all saying how she was to tied to the war now to be Vice President.
Good night Suz and pups, busy Sunday ahead for me. Going to sleep and listening (again) to our possible future President.
g’nite Lou
g’nite LL
fahrender,
I had three close friends who killed themselves in frustration in the Exxon Valdez aftermath. Over 20 friends have passed away, while awaiting their compensation. They are the silent ones, my friend.
oh, one more thing about Tuesday (such an important day), the Mega Millions jackpot is $200 million. BTW, I called my US Reps office in Washington(Kevin Brady)and pretended to be a really upset Republican ranting and raving because he walked out of the House vote on FISA. LOL :)
I wonder how Shrub’s soon-to-be new digs are coming along in Paraguay? ;-)
Thanks so much…
sleep well LL
You can moon in silence! Guten Tag!
Condoleeza Rice is the warmest, kindest most wonderful human being I have ever known.
-G
perhaps that was the result of her name being floated as possible vp. of course, i could be mis-remembering again but i think i remember seeing something – possibly the night of the Potomac primaries.
That is a travesty! My condolences to you and the families…! 8-(
That Christy thread was actually the most poignant for me at FDL…for all sorts of reasons…
Aloha, LL!
Yep. She does that.
Lets not forget that Tom Friedman wrote an article about a month ago suggesting that Obama keep Dick Cheney on as VP. I’m pretty sure a blood vessel erupted after reading that! Russert suggested that former Iraq commander, not Abizaid, but the other one, be Obama’s running mate. Help me here
Large explosion in Kandahar Afghanistan.
Also, Lebanese army deplys to end fighting between Sunni and Shiite factions.
-G
Considering that Condi’s pushing Iraq and cover up ever since the 16 words in the SOTU has been responsible for so many African Americans getting blown to bits in Iraq, I don’t know many African Americans that feel Condi is a drawing card for any election. It’s the opposite with everyone I talked to. They’d come out to vote against her if there were no other reasons as incentives.
betrayus?
Betrayus? If any generals should be Veep, I’d like to see Wes Clark…!
I was too late to contribute, but it was my all time favorite thread here ever. I learned so much about all my new friends. And some, heartbreaking. I’m just a librarian, but wish I was a writer.
Link?
I think Suzanne and GregB might be right bout Condi or JC Watts especially if Obama gets the nomination and the Democrats keep pulling in huge amounts of voters.
But will the idea of the GOP having an African American Vice President poll well? Will the GOP go for African American votes by scapegoating Hispanics to keep their numbers up in the South.
Will JC Watts and Condi go along with this? The GOP needs to win in the South and West with big enough numbers to maintain a filibuster in the Senate especially if it looks like the Democrats are going to get majorities in the House and Senate.
Nooooo! they are already brainwashing people! Damm I liked all the filth in my brain:)
night all. see ya sunday, if we’re all still alive.
Heartbreaking yes…and here I thought I was the only one!
g’nite Betsy
There is absolutely no chance. McCain is a singularly unattractive candidate, and more “Bush-Taint” only weakens his chances.
*praying he tries it, though*
g’nite tex – i think we are ok until tuesday – pain free wishes for ya, as always
Aloha, Ma’am!
Oh, no.
Anthony Zini is the name being floated as possible VP for Obama. As far as JC Watts, I don’t see it happening. The South wouldn’t have it. Sad, but true. I’d be thrilled if he asked Jim Webb.
st john the torturer is praying it works
nite TexBetsy
do you have a link to the thread? which one was it?
thanks y’all. minor electrocution is much better than darvocet in my opinion.
this one?
Last Sat. am., I think, Pull up a Chair. Help me Pups.
These life stories…I’m involved in one right now…Talk about heartbreaking…
Honestly, Obama or Hill should be the ticket, period… However, if they couldn’t mend fences, I think Edwards would be a fine running mate for either…!
I’m still hoping he makes his best choice, Gov. Rick “Good Hair” Perry (UberGooper-TX) and they both get drawn into that particular firestorm.
Love you Suz…
Yep–Pull up a chair…
Thanks that was the idea that I was reaching for. If the war is going so well then why isn’t anyone talking about Condi as VP?
Sure the GOP’s racist blame immigrants plan to hold on to the West and South relies on racists but if Obama is on the ticket as President or Vice President we can take the South from the GOP and maybe the West. I still can’t believe Obama won in Idaho.
The GOP might have no choice but to reach out to other voters after all who does Huck or Mitt bring to the table that adds up to a majority?
on larry king live tonight McCain said he would be proud to have his good friend boosh campaign for him.
what planet is he living on?
*blushing* thanks
Or, as they say in south, Mam? With respect.
This thread–of all times! No contest!
thanks, i’m off to read and then perchance to dream.
I really am going to bed now. Nite all.
Just read this thread–and weep. I did…
yeap, that’s the one i linked to at 107. thanks for the confirmation.
Moondance is also one of my favorite tunes of all time! An awesome post!
I think you’re referring to
Channeling Dick Cheney
This is one of Friedman’s dumbest articles. It floats the fiction that Obama is a naive Pollyana, and that Obama would be blown over by some ridiculous puppet like Ahmajinidad–the vaudeville 3 Stooges character that the Ayatollah Khamenei puts out front for amusement.
Anyone meeting with Iran with an IQ 1/16 the thermometer wouldn’t be meeting with Ahmajinidad.
TF also thought the Iraq fiasco was an excellent idea, and after he saw how it was working out, changed his mind.
Maybe that’s what happens to you when you’ve won a Pulitzer, had several best sellers and your wife is worth several billion bucks.
g’nite for realsies, waiting
I know this is unlikely but just who can McCain get who will bring him some new voters? Because the number of voters that he has now is not enough to win.
So either Bush wins in Iraq, fixes the economy and lowers the price of gas, etc all before he leaves office, or Bush declares Martial Law and Makes McCain President otherwise McCain needs a VP who can bring somebody new to the GOP tent.
I’m rackin my brain here and Condi is the best I can think of?
Your story is so amazing. My adult children did not study at NYU but had friends from Cleveland that did, and visited. Such a new world revealed when they visited NYC. As parents from the east coast, we wanted them to stay here in OHIO. And they almost did.
g’nite gw

What about SanderO’s…who was arrested and tossed into Manhattan Tombs by the cops for protesting against the cop shooting of Amadou Diallo… And MarieRoget’s…
Aloha, GW and Waiting!
I’m thinking he is going to go with a Hispanic r and may in fact be looking for a female hispanic former preacher now congresscritter. st john the torturer is gonna be trying to cover all his bases.

What the heck… It’s Late Late Nite…
Brain eaters.
About the only scenario available to save his sorry arse from serious prison time…!
What would “winning in Iraq” be–and what do you think is going to change significantly in Iraq between now and November?
There are a lot of ditzbrains like Republicans in the Senate, Elizabeth Bumiller at NYT, David Brooks, Cokie Roberts, and people like Timmie Russert who always float the phrase that things are militarily and politically better in Iraq.
Here’s a clue: Everyone that says that Iraq is doing so much better either from a military or political standpoint (Bumiller said it on Russert’s show yesterday) from Cokie Roberts to Bumiller to Saxby the Chambliss will blithely say it, and then never offer a scintilla of how or why they think things are better in Iraq.
It’s called the talking head bullshit head fake. They can say anything and Russert is too much of an airhead to call them on it. He never asks his talking head guests to shore up what they say or grills them.
Muqtada al-Sadr’s Madi troups lying low for a few months doesn’t equal political or military progress. A lot of towns are quiet because they’ve been ethnically cleansed and dead people don’t make a lot of noise on earth at least.
Iraqi troops and police couldn’t take control of the women from Cashmere Mafia in a battle.
See, and here I just clicked yes and then mooned my computer…
ha!
It’s all there on the thread by SanderO himself…and MarieRoget…
Similar to what is happening in New Orleans and the gulf coast.

I have an economic index for you. A gallon of milk, a gallon of gas, or 10 big oranges without seeds.
They all go up about a buck every six months with no end in sight and cost the same thing.
Do you got a name we need to start research.
FDL has been quite a powerful force in my life…and trust me, I’ve been around the block…around the world. But FDL is something else again, no doubt about it…
Heh.
Kristol is writing the comedy column on the op ed page of The Times.
we do work very hard at keeping things civil around here. the mod squad has a well earned reputation for taking down those fools who try to come here and hijack a thread for their own attention seeking reasons.
I’ve been crying most of the evening…for all sorts of reasons…But I’m cool…I’m quite lucid at the moment, more lucid than I was before I started to cry…not like dear old Mitt…
Has to get a Fundy. No room for trying to compete with the gender/racial thing.
Good nite folks, and stay alive.

my first week on the mod squad was when trex took on that trevino fool – and double dog dared him to come onto trex’s thread. the fool did. oh my, that was fun!
Me, too. FDL got me off my butt, out the door and working for universal health care.

the thing we must remember is that the primaries and caucuses bring out the fervent and committed voters. the election in November will include a much less partisan and knowledgeable group. how different the response of the general election will be from the caucuses and primaries is the great unknown. one can only hope ….
I only rue the fact that I’m geographically challenged for any Fire pup meet ups…! 8-(
I am just pointing out ideas however unlikely that might result in McCain winning er becoming President. I agree with you that yes the Press thinks that we are winning but after years of Friedman units the Press has lost the trust of the American people on that subject.
Bush could just declare victory and bring the troops home which would help McCain even if Iraq starts a civil war but the odds of that happening are to low for me to take seriously.
Suzanne’s idea of bringing in a Hispanic makes sense but disrupts the whole anti immigrant campaign the GOP has been mounting.
Even worse Rush, Coulter and Malkin then might endorse our Nominee.
WTF
I believe that Obama is unstoppable. The pent up frustration, anger and energy is being expressed through him. I saw his Wisconsin speech just now. It was great.

I found that video bec. Jane posted it at FDL.
I am teaching a Freshman Seminar. I immediately sent the link to my class, saying “science is everywhere. Can you spot the scientific content?”
I was actually thinking about neural diseases that are transmitted by eating brain/ nervous tissues: kuru, mad cow disease.
And, half the students got this. But, turns out this vid lead to a really really interesting discussion. Turns out that the cartoon people were from a violent video game. And, thus, we got into a lot more discussion, including how the army has offered a “freebee” video game for the purposes of recruitment. Horrifying. Here are some links:
http://www.americasarmy.com/intel/missions.php
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories…..9489.shtml
~~~”This is a fantastic recruiting opportunity,” says Lt. Col. John Gillette. “We would like to sign up as many as possible. We are looking for five to ten.”
One of these teens enlisted after playing the game, the other two are thinking about it, which is exactly what the creator of “America’s Army” had in mind. ~~~
But psychology professor Brad Bushman of the University of Michigan, a critic of violent video games, complains “America’s Army” isn’t real enough.
“War is not a game,” he says.
“The video game does provide a sanitized view of violence,” says Bushman. “For example, when you shoot someone or when you are shot you see a puff of blood; you don’t see anyone suffering or writhing in pain.” ~~
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/2438695.stm
~~A computer game devised by the US Army has come under fire from parents anxious that it glorifies violence. [snip]
“I’m the father of a 10-year old boy,” says Jack Thompson.
“Every day I drop him off at school I know that he’s at greater risk because even some of his classmates as well as others in the general population, train obsessively on these shooter games.”~~
Third link, and this is a “must watch” http://youtube.com/watch?v=iedBodvPLiY
~~~”The video gaming industry is a billion dollar industry”
“…. owned by the US government..”
“… 8 million registered users and 17 million downloads”
“…your online gaming data is being collected…”
“… Big brother is definitely watching, and so are some (At…? word) fundamentalists. They’ve taken the video’s propaganda idea and adapted it and created their own game where the US is the enemy..~~~
Dude, there is a HI contingent, or so I’ve been led to believe :-)

Fantastic!
I’d love to read that smackdown, if you’re up to posting a link.
I guess you’d have to swim even further than me. but you’d get warmer water to swim through, CT…
Two things about this cycle so far; 1) The turnouts have been consistently record shattering, and, 2) The Dem turnout has been virtually 2:1 in favor of the Dems over the Repugs! It can only be construed one way, the Repugs are so screwed…!
Yes it was!
it was last february and was a late nite thread and i haven’t found it… and right now, token needs to save a redwood tree – i’ll look some more when i get back in a few (unless someone finds it before i get back)

I do know some Republicans that are so pissed off with McCain’s nomination that they swear they aren’t voting. I’m having a good time with that. They’re so confused that they don’t have what they were sure they would–a Mary Matlin shaped candidate that Nike swooshes to success–someone like Romney; and they’re besides themselves that the Huckster is in their tweaking all of them.
I shall bow out, myself! I bid ya’ll a fond adieu! Aloha Oe!!!

Sorry, my point was lost in the haze.
The only thing more ridiculous than a McCain win, is discounting the possibility of a McCain win. That’s how we lose, if we presuppose.
If McCain had time to gather the many coalitions and pick a unique (by Gooper standards) Veep choice, he might. But he has one shot only and that’s to energize Chimpy’s base (since he doesn’t have one of his own), and the only way to do that is a Fundy. A white male Governor.
McCain is no gambler at this point.
Aloha, CT.

Good if they don’t vote for McCain that does help us. Still I can’t see any move McCain can make that can help him win, not that I want him to have any moves.
But it sure makes predicting difficult.
yeap, those were bumpy times that created quite a rip tide here at the lake.

i have that feeling as well. i jumped the shark and said so after Iowa. we’ll see. it troubles me to see all of the nasty goings on about Obama and Hillary. i wonder how much of it is ginned up by the Repub snakepit and how much is the dark side of the Dems. Probably a mix.
my other concern is, OK, who are/will be Obama’s advisors/policy makers/”soldiers”? who really will have influence? we know a lot more about Hillary and we don’t necessarily like it. Obama is more of an unknown.
It’s amazing what you can find on youtube.

my feeling is that they won’t be screwed as badly as we assume. eight months is a long time in a political campaign. we’ll see a lot of new stuff between now and November. some of it won’t be to our liking. i’d love to be wrong ……
mrbrat is supporting Hillary and I’m still reeling over Edwards dropping out and will support whoever emerges on the top of the ballot in Nov.
Newtonusr @197 ”energize Chimpy’s base ”
That is the safe expected play of a non gambler but to energize them he needs to please Rush, Coulter etc and have a Fundie VP. But Bush’s base wants more war which while McCain is down with that, us 70%ers think thats a nonstarter.
I don’t think that you are wrong about VP, but even if he energizes Bush’s base how does McCain get enough voters to win?
So far I see no logical moves for McCain in this position. Thats why Martial law looks so logical its the only move I see getting McCain to the White House.
Unless of course the war is won, the economy turns around and the price of gas drops.
a) we are astonished out that our primary has significance;
b) they say Hill has a lead, but Barak is catching up;
c) i remain skeptical of “they” who say:
polls haven’t been very reliable for these primaries.
i believe b) is true.
at our meet up it was three to one for Obama;
i am for Hill.
He doesn’t. But he can’t “take’ Hispanics, and he can’t “take” Blacks, and he sure can’t “take” Women. He doesn’t have much left, so I presume that he will take what he can get and battle on TV for the middle. And probably lose.
Again, as I mentioned the other night, I picked Frederick of Hollywood 8 months ago. So what the eff do I know…
yep. Edwards dropping out ruined my day for sure. i’m over it now though.
i’m a political slut. what can i say? i’m for Obama now purely and simply because he is less obviously establishment/old guard.
i’ll vote for Hillary if she’s the nominee and, unlike many others, i’ll wait and see what she does. many seem to think they already KNOW what she’ll do. i’m as skeptical of that mindset as they are of her.
i’m still neutral – just like FDL is. whomever is the D nominee is who i will support.

sleep well, all you late nighters. it’s sunny and bright here in Dresden at 09:20 …..
Somehow, somewhere this weekend, you’re going to be sharing cocktail
weenies with a congressman, a barbequeue with an inlaw, a pool game
with a fellow biker, or a spa in Palm Springs with the SO of a
Hollywood producer. And someone, not you I hope, will bring up the
fact that the PAA has just expired, and we are all in mortal danger of
a terrist attack. So, you need talking points, and here they are:
— On Wednesday evening, before recessing, the Democrats proposed
a three-week PAA extension. At Bush’s behest, it was voted down
with Republican voting zero ayes and 195 nays, while Democrats voted
191 ayes and 34 nays.
— Per DNI Mike McConnell: “It’s true that some of the authorities
would carry over to the period they were established for one
year. That would put us into the August, September time-frame.
However, that’s not the real issue. The issue is liability
protection for the private sector.“
— Per to House Minority Leader John Boehner, “The carriers that
work with our government are increasinly concened about their
liability and increasingly concerned about whether they are going to
continue to work with our intelligence officials.“
— In fact, existing law requires telecommunications companies
to comply with LEGITIMATE requests from intelligence officials and
immunizes them from liability for that assistance.
i find myself still in the same predicament as last year – waiting for my house to sell before i can make any plans.
excellent condensation – thank you
Please don’t promise that in public. The nominee must first assuage our outrage at their lack of true progressive values (or whatever).
fahrender – I am struck by the pressures Hillary deals with day to day including but not limited to my new theory that Bill and his old posse Carville etc., et al are sabotaging her campaign, consciously or not. Misogyny? My sense is Hillary needs all the friends she can muster these days and barring new negatives including Bubba wigging out completely she remains the most qualifed IMHO.
wigwam, i think the fact i am speaking as an r makes it an acceptable and even possibly powerful statement.
Okay, you Rs get a pass. But the Ds must fall in line. ;-)
Don’t forget that the patriotic phone companies didn’t like it much that the FBI didn’t pay their bills.
Boy, you did bring a pointy stick tonight :-)
How you doing?
Bubba has not done Hill any good at all. His ego is much in evidence, and that, I think, has had a negative effect on her campaign.
excellent.
thanks.
“He’s willing to let Americans die to protect the phone companies”
from Olbermann’s Countdown.
i so want that to be the nail in the metaphorical coffin.
Hubris.
Beloved and revered, he steps up for his lady and lands in shit?
Could be.
Niters all you amazing late late nite fire dogs. Simply great to have spent Saturday night in such remarkable company. ;~) Did I mention it is very good to have fahender back on on da lake?
Per President Bush:
Remember that this is the same President Bush who vowed to veto any extension of the PAA and at whose behest House Republicans blocked such an extension. Talk about cynical!
nite npb
Hey Newt! Great!
Let’s go after those cynical bastards. I’ve never seen them so vulnerable. It’s letter-to-the-editor time.
g’nite npb
Completely agree VG – and am grateful to you, LooHoo, Fahender and MaryMcCurren among others here who figured this all out long before moi. Sweet dreams everyone.
newt- I suspect that there is something more going on that his simply being “inartful”. I don’t quite get it, but maybe it’s a private power struggle bet. Bill and Hill. NBP said it might be unconscious on his part, and I have to give some credence to that idea. The “little soldier” has a hard time giving up power. ;)
I’ve long known how completely cynical the Republicans are, but I don’t think I seen it quite so openly and plainly manifested. But the media will report nothing but he-said/she-said, unless we get in their face. I don’t know exactly how to do that, but I see ammunition lying all around.
Yep. Time for the real pressure. They are quaking.
hiya, Valley Girl!
I’m in and outta the lake this evening. Shoulda forgot about it when somebody told me, “Go get you own Goddam blog!”
sheepish look on face – sorry et
green warrior was telling us how she could not listen to olbermann’s special comment from thursday because it was too much of a screed.
he was yelling.
i ate it up.
i want that mantra to be the common folks’ vibe for this election:
“the bastard will sell us all out for a dollar!”
speaking of which:
for what we’ve spent in Iraq,
couldn’t we have solved this whole thing peacefully
IF
we just hired a real estate agent?
For what we’ve committed to be spending
we could have BOUGHT the whole country
and simply served Saddam an eviction notice.
maybe.
the worst is how, in the time that i have known you,
the real estate market has taken the biggest hit
just while you’ve needed top sell.
like, dang!
i know, ydj – if it wasn’t for bad luck, i’d have no luck at all has been a family motto for generations
hiya, ET!
Nope, FDL has spawned many a good blogger. But, it takes real attention to do both. My students have pushed me into Facebook as a means of discussion for my current Freshman seminar. And, I gotta say, it is hard to keep up! Almost like maintaining a blog!
xxoo VG
posting here on tues, thur, sat and alternating sundays has actually pushed me to post over at my place more often. i’ve actually been putting up a post a day – which is a huge change.
on the other hand, my f/b page is suffering from neglect.
/bush
(this would be more fun if i could post the above,
inside the “< " and ">” angle brackets.)
em.
pose.
see.
blay.
so.
like this ydj: “< /bush >“
Why steal something when you could buy it for less?
heh…
Because why buy it when you believe you’re entitled to it in the first place.
ding
Indeed! That truly is the problem, isn’t it! God, how I want this nightmare to end.
I’m not sure that that sense of entitlement began with ChimpCo, but it sure did flower there. And the stridency with which they refuse to take “no” for an answer, is startling.
FORK – i gotta go clean for the public open house tomorrow. g’nite pups – thanks for hanging with me tonight.
nite suz
time for me to shove off too
I swear those fools get aroused each time they hear the word “sole remaining superpower.” Imperialists to their core. And, imperialism abroad requires a police state in the homeland, an Orwellian surveillance society.
In any case, I’ve got to get some sleep. G’nite all.
Big Dog is old and creaky now. he took a lot of hits from ‘92-’00. and then the heart surgery, and being out of “power” for eight years. The public stayed with him, which helped, but he was seriously hurt by all of the carnage and now, since he’s out in the public political arena, it shows. His instincts don’t seem to work any more, maybe they can’t work for somebody else. The world changing the way it has doesn’t help him either. It’s a little bit like things changed for Fuckwad, only different. W has been the anti-Clinton. The shelf life for that brand is so 2004. Hillary is connected to both! This, fairly or unfairly, yet I think such is the public perception, at least subconsciously.
i sense a lot of REM through the ether, across the pond……
Good morning and good news, pups!
Sibel Edmonds story hits the Dallas Morning News:
http://www.dallasnews.com/shar…..b446a.html
I don’t know if anyone has checked the Heritage Countdown Clock since the FISA extension expired.
Scroll down, bottom right side… …notice anything?
Asshats can’t even get their fearmongering right…
even with nice, big, easy-to-read letters ……..
That’s a plausible explanation, I think. Someone over at another blog brought up the idea that Bill was deliberately sabotaging Hillary’s campaign out of spite or something. His basic assumption was that Bill Clinton never does anything by mistake, which is a pretty silly assumption, frankly. Clinton made mistakes, and not all of them were named Monica. Anyone who does things that are the least bit difficult makes mistakes, no matter how good they are at it.
It seems far more likely that they’re just still doing what worked in 1992, and haven’t quite figured out that it’s not working any longer. Frankly, I don’t think anyone could have made Bill Clinton’s methods work except Bill Clinton. But that’s a thesis for when I have lots of time.
Goodnight all.
Wow, that is something!
Think anyone will care?
Morning all…
REM, we are talking about Athens this morning?
What’s going on in Athens?
REM is from here.
BBC News World Service just said Kosovo will declare independence in a few hours…I’ll dig up a link.
Here it is. From BBC News this morning (at least in Minneapolis):
I thought farender @ 271 meant that everyone is asleep.
Good morning, pups. It’s MoDo, Kristof and Rich today in the NYT. MoDo typed “Captive to History’s Caprice,” and says at the very moment when politicians should be on top of the world, embraced by the voters, enhanced by the toys and levers of power, their gremlins surface. Mr. Kristof writes about “The World’s Worst Panderer,” and says John McCain truly has principles that he bends or breaks out of desperation and with distaste, and that’s preferable to politicians who are congenital invertebrates. Mr. Rich is watching as “The Grand Old White Party Confronts Obama.” He says that trapped in an archaic black-and-white newsreel, the G.O.P. looks more like a nostalgic relic than a national political party in contemporary America.

The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready. To celebrate the first spears of asparagus from the patch in my back yard, and to give those of you in the northern climes hope for spring, I’ve got asparagus omelets for breakfast. Have a great day.
Not much jokin around here in the early hours!
Good Morning everyone. I’m going back to bed, way too early. Great news about asparagus Marion sounds yummy as always.
Morning Marion, Raven:
Any response to my 282? This is historic even if expected for some time…I believe some Americans died fighting for this independence…
I’m still too hurt over the hummer sham to joke.
And youtube is blocked so I can’t even watch the frickin cartoon.
*sigh*
Good Morning, Waccamaw, thanks for the link to the Dallas Morning News. Marion, I read Kristof earlier and obviously I do not agree with him. Kristof seems to think that flip-flopping McCain is an ass but has the courage to act like an ass. I personally don’t think it takes courage to act like an ass.
I read the piece, I can’t really decide if it is good news or not.
WTF is Putin gonna do and how are we gonna deal with it?
Putin will do nothing…Trust me on this one…*g*
What will Russia and Serbia do against the whole world?
Listen to live BBC News World Service here for breaking news about Kosovo anticipated declaration of independence this afternoon.
Like I said, I’m glad you read MoDo so I don’t have to, some palaver there.
But Kristoff!
and brr! it’s hot chocolatey here this mornin’
I agree. It’s not often that I vehemently disagree with Kristof, but as far as I’m concerned pandering is pandering and if McCain finds it all that distasteful he wouldn’t be doing it. To say nothing of some of the “praising with faint damns” that were in the piece, as in he “treated his first wife, Carol, poorly.” I wonder if the folks on Mahogany Row at the NYT put out the whisper that it would be good if some of their op-ed folks found something nice to say about the creature they’ve endorsed in the Republican primary…
I was hoping that BBC America on the tube would cover it, but no joy there.
and Good Morning!
here’s what’s on Washington Journal this morning
7am – Newspaper Articles & Viewer Calls
7:30am – Susan Milligan, Boston Globe, National Political Reporter
8:30am – Newspaper Articles & Viewer Calls
9am – Lisa Curtis, Heritage Foundation, Asian Studies Senior Fellow
9:30am – Avni Mustafaj, National Albanian American Council, Executive Director
check out the 9:30 Biodun
Chimpy was interviewed by BBC News World Service a few minutes ago talking about the US support for Kosovo’s declaration of independence…
Russia and Serbia say declaration is illegal…
Ah ah, I thought no shoutouts on oncoming posts…*g*
Good Morning, Early Pups.
It seems there’s always a breaking news event…
huh? I’m talking about 9:30 on Washington Journal, thought you might be interested:
9:30am – Avni Mustafaj, National Albanian American Council, Executive Director
Hey demi…
Interesting at FDL so far…*g*
Sorry about that…Jumping too much to conclusions and coincidences…
I’m still giggling over the Heritage Foundation FISA clock. 10 hours past the deadline, we are still alive, and they still can’t spell “extension”.
different rules for different pools?
Oh, Lawd! They actually spell it “extention.” It’s enough to make a cat laugh.
Biodun,
How’s your Sunday so far?
How are ya doing today?
I’m still at the end of this cold.
I wake up about now, all stuffed up and get up to breathe some steam.
Morning, all!
I feel guilty giving the website “hits”, but I have to keep checking it… …wanna place bet on how many hours past deadline the typo will
extendextent?Marion, is is asparagas time yet?
Kosovo’s my Facebook pal’s Wes Clark’s pet project…He’s happier than a pig in sh*t this morning in Little Rock…OMG, he’s on BBC World Service right now…
By the way, I’ve never tried an asparagus omelette, I’m intrigued.
Well, given the big banner thingy they have on top of their
sitecitesight let’s ask “What Would Reagan Do?”I’m cool…Sorry to hear about your cold…
You bet. I’ve got asparagus omelets for y’all this morning. Fresh out of the garden tastes nothing like from the market — sweeter and more delicate.
Maybe they’re confusing that word with extinction?
BBC (Auntie or the Beeb) is very good at this sorta thing…They’re into analysis now…quite thorough…
I’m going back to bed.
The steam cleared my head, and Marion’s asparagus gave me a much needed shot of vitamins. Thanks. And, ymmmmmm.
I’ll have to catch up on all the news later.
Bio – I caught Wes Clark last night at the Wis. speeches. He sure is a cutey.
I’m glad to find out that I’m not the only one out here who finds Wes rather appealing…!
at this rate, Reagan will have sprung from an immaculate conception by the year 2059, and have died the martyr by 2113.
Not only is he smart, but when he smiles, those eyes really twinkle.
Don’t you think?
Yes, indeed. I wonder if Barack or Hillary are considering him for a spot in the new administration? I would hope so. It would be nice to have a rational, competent Sec Def, don’t you think?
This is the same Clark who won’t rule out bombing Iran. Yep, just the guy for the job.
