No, we can’t bottle Donna Edwards. Somehow, though, the progressive movement needs to figure out how to make sure we wind up with more victories like that one we all had on Tuesday.
Many are asking themselves why did Donna succeed where so many others didn’t? Clearly, it starts with the candidate and that’s pretty much the biggest part of the ball game. In Donna’s case, we bought into a candidate with a vision, with a world view and a world of experience, a candidate with the background– intellectual, spiritual, existential — that was compelling, inspired and inspiring.
Our Blue America community donated more money to Donna in this cycle than to the next three most funded candidates combined. Clearly she struck a nerve with us and clearly it wasn’t just because she was running against someone more villainous than anyone else. Rick Noriega, Andrew Rice, Ron Shepston and Vic Wulsin have far more detestable opponents (respectively John Cornyn, James Inhofe, Gary Miller and Mean Jean Schmidt) than Al Wynn.
Within an hour of Wynn’s concession Donna had written an e-mail to Blue America to say thanks. The next morning she had sent us a video thanking the community for our 3 years of efforts on her behalf. Of course, those 3 years are a two-way street, a crucial one, and one where lesser candidates may well have given up and said the odds were too steep, the chances too slim. Donna never gave up.
Today I’m 100% confident that we’ve helped elect not "more Democrats" (the hell with that) but a "better Democrat." And a leader, a leader for a national, values-based progressive movement. It’s with the greatest pleasure that we welcome Donna Edwards back to Firedoglake this afternoon, a friend and a pathfinder.

About Firedoglake
WOW
Congratulations Donna!
Congratulations, Donna! Well done.
Yay! Donna!
We’re all so happy you won – well done!
It was so lovely of you to send thanks right away … wish we all could have been there to work the polls for you and then cheer in person!
We are so proud of you.
Congratulations, Donna.
I hear that your district is heavily D. May we now start practicing calling you Representative Edwards?
Welcome back Donna! We’re all so proud of you and all so happy for you, for the lucky residents of Maryland’s 4th CD and for America. The first thought in everyone’s mind on Tuesday night– or the second, after “thank God”– was how do we replicate triumph this all over the country. Any ideas for us?
YayZ Donna and Howie!
Thank you
I love your spine inducing victory Donna, congrats!
Kiddo and I like Donna Edwards.
Lahoma.
Congratulations, Donna! Your victory is an inspiration to progressive Dems everywhere.
Dear Donna Edwards, You are my hero! We had up at the lake the video of your debate and I am/was so impressed with your strength, eloquence, passion, compassion, energy and intelligence – and everything else. Thank you for running, for tackling the hard issues (even with Hoyer sitting right behind you). If we as progressives had more candidates willing (and able) to speak out as you have done – and run – we would be in an even stronger position.
My questions: How has Hoyer responded to your victory? And, how can we get more and better people to run?
Here is the video for those who haven’t seen it: http://video.google.com/videop…..;plindex=2
This is so inspiring Howie, and a real cause for hope and we do need some good news.
I hope Ms Edwards takes some time to read some progressive values into ”the program” over in the people’s house. Those critters need some edgemecating.
Congrats Donna and the Blue State Project and all contributors.
We need to keep the long view, even while we are working on the current election cycle. Donna won the second time around. We can find candidates that might take a whole cycle to get the necessary name recognition and support teams, who can them go on to victory the following election.
Further to Richmond at 12… which dems have come forward to embrace you in this election win and which ones have screamed out in silence?
And, thanks Howie.
I just spoke to Stoller on the phone. He’s with Donna and they’re having trouble signing on. I asked him to call Jane. Be patient and I’m sure we’ll have Donna with us in a couple minutes.
Actually, the number were pretty stunning, but the women was the same in both elections.
What changed?
We’ve got some tech glitches, Donna will be here momentarily.
Forgive me if this is inappropriate but I have to say that Donna is teh hawt.
Congratulations, Donna Edwards — thank you and thanks to your family for the sacrifices you have made in achieving this goal. I really appreciate your efforts and look forward to watching you achieve greatness in Washington.
PS You do know there’s an Effect named after you, already? It has to do with the courage and stiffness of spine our DeeCee Democrats seemed to find with regard to PAA, FISA, and the contempt citations for Miers and Bolten in the wake of your victory Tuesday. I simply imagine that when Nancy Pelosi, Steny Hoyer and Rahm Emanuel think of straying from the people’s agenda to enable another BushCo atrocity or feather their corporatist supporters’ nests, they hear a whisper from the northeast, from MD-04: Al Wynn.
And, suddenly, they do the right thing instead.
Best wishes to you.
I agree 100%. It’s rare for someone to just waltz into a district and beat an incumbent out of the blue, especially in a primary. I have always felt that Donna actually did it in 2006 and that the election was stolen at the ballot box at the last second. I knew she would have to build a massive tamper-proof lead this time. She did– and Wynn conceded early in the evening. He knew what his machine was capable of and what it couldn’t do.
Woo-hoo, Congratulations, Donna! I hope to see your name added to the Congressional Progressive Caucus!
http://cpc.lee.house.gov/
A change is coming, America.
Well Donna is teh hot, that’s fer sure.
this is just the beginning!
America is tired of fascism.
Ms. Edwards,
You’re a beacon of hope for us right now. Thanks for staying in the fight. I’m sure you know how much we need people who are truly progressive and want the disenfranchised of America to have a voice in the government.
Great points, both of you.
We need people like Donna to come in and kick the Progressive Caucus’ butt and make it into a powerhouse in the Congress. It’s way bigger than the Blue Dog Coalition and doesn’t have a fraction of the clout
Now we must defeat McCain. And all that this man stands for.
Meaning both Howie and Egregious – not that Howie is some how Janus-headed, bi-polar, or defined by multiple personalities. Whenever Egregious is on the scene, my fingers run out ahead of my brain. :-)
Thanks to everyone at FDL and throughout the netroots! This is as much a victory for MD-4 as for the country. And, it feels terrific.
And so are you, Jane!
Richard Rutowski says “Hi”
This should give us progressives tremendous steam to complete this Congress and then to get some new blood in the White House and the Congress — a little more backbone to undo eight years of harm.
I bet it does. You earned it, Donna. Of course you earned it last time, but we won’t talk about that….
;)
That’s a good point! There’s 72 CPC’ers and what, 35-40 Blue dogs?
Progressive compassion. The new horizon.
Ms. Edwards, I’m wondering if you have some priorities for your first year in the House and what some of them might be.
President Obama. The new hope.
Donna where are some places you look to IRT foreign policy?
I know it’s premature, but I’ll address you as Congresswoman Edwards. I knew nothing about you, except that Jane Hamsher told me to send your campaign some money. I sent you $100, I’m sorry it wasn’t more. I always trust Jane, but hearing Steny Hoyer sent Wynn $150,000 at the last moment
to engage in criminal vote buyingonly confirmed my faith in Jane’s judgement. Joe Lieberman had to spend $350,000 to buy votes in the CT Democratic primary to keep his candidacy alive in the general, so I was stunned you were able to overcome that. It’s really important for us not to simply rest on our victory. Though, I could really use a couple of days rest. We must stand by progressives in the Congress, get some more, and hold their feet to the fire. We have to take care to continue to support progressive members financially so that the K Street lobbyists don’t get in the way.
Another question Ms. Edwards: When/what was the lowest point in your political career? Was it the first loss? How did you handle it in personal terms? What did you learn from it?
Whoa. Anyone watching CNN right now? Obama just referred to Bush’s presidency as “the era of Scooter Libby justice, Brownian competence, and Powell politics”. You know Colin Powell’s star has dimmed when he’s put in that company.
By the way — Jane and Howie — you rock! I’m so excited to be surrounded by such good people — this win brought together the best of the progressive coalition — labor, women, enviros, civil rights, and the netroots — when it works, we win.
Wow! Donna’s in the House! :)
That sounds GREAT!
Congratulations, Donna and thank you for being the proud patriot and dogged determined woman you are for us!
I had a chance to meet Donna for a few minutes at last year’s Take Back America – and I can think of no one who better exemplifies a great progressive candidate.
I’ve been smiling all week since the win … it just feels so very very good to see such a great candidate win!
Don’t worry, we will.
Victories like this should not inspire us to rest (okay for a couple of days), but rather to work even harder. You are like adrenaline to the progressive movement.
My wife and I are teachers in a rural, not so wealthy southwestern Oklahoma public school. Would you care to comment on the idea that education is key to lifting folks’ children out of poorness, and to that end, what we, as parents can do to help?
Donna, your victory was such a lift to those of us following your political career here at the lake and man, we really needed a lift at that time
we had a week where the senate caved to the corrupt, the president promised more dismantling of our government and it just didn’t look like democrats were going to even make an attempt doing the job they were elected
then you won against the odds
and all of a sudden, other democrats took notice, that if you want to sit back and not do the work, that if you wanted to rubber stamp this administration, you would loose
your seat to your office
loe and behold, democrats came out of the woodwork proclaiming their indignity for new proposals from the bush administration that tread deeper into our lives
even Nancy pelosi stood before the world to defy the administration, saying loud and clear, “the surge is a failure”, where for some reason before your victory it seemed as if she became another rubber stamp for the depravity that is in the office of the administration
and loe and behold, congress refuses to submit to the requests that did nothing but allow the administration and it’s cohorts to keep the booty of their depravity
congress stood up to say loud and proud, “if you broke the law you will not get immunity, “if you didn’t break the law you already have immunity”
Donna, glad to have you on board in this fight to save our republic
we hope to see more of you and that you become the heart and conscience of congress
best to you from here and forward
We really should get in the game early to recruit, train, and bolster progressive candidates. It’s not sufficient to sit on the sidelines and cheer — $10 here, canvass there, telephone too — we can do all of this.
Ms Edwards, what WAS the reason that you won so decisively this cycle? What changed? Are there any lessons we can apply in other races?
Interesting..Powell has been making nice noises about Obama..IMO, Colin should be the first in the dock for War Crimes.
Good point! And let’s not forget Stoller, who I believe is in the house right now too. He was our boots on the ground. People kept calling me on election day saying “what can I do?” I said go find Stoller. Thanks Matt!!
Sometimes I wonder if we believe in our own politics. I hope that even progressives in Congress are bolstered by the prospects of building a winning coalition that acts in concert to stop the bad stuff and promote policies that make a difference in people’s lives.
Thanks, Howie. This win took all of us, and in my opinion you at Blue America were more important than you know.
Congratulations Donna! After losing the FISA fight in the Senate that day, it felt great personally to watch you win that evening.
Do you think it makes sense for you guys to write a “manual” for progressive candidates with the help of the likes of Klien and Hamsher who are such good strategists?
I would like to see a more structured challenge from the get go… as opposed to finding good candidates to get behind.
Does this make any sense?
So does Donna now get a break to rest a bit … she’s been going nonstop and seems to be working even harder now which is so classy and inspiring but I sure hope someone is making sure she gets some time to kick back too
And Stoller did us all proud … and deserves big thanks esp for that long night in the rotten weather!
Thank you for your kindness. I know that I’ve had such tremendous support from around the country — we even had people come in from California on election day to work in the snow, rain, sleet, and ice. It’s a tremendous support to know that so many people have my back. With this support, I will never be afraid to stand up for what’s right.
I understand the importance of working together, but not at the expense of our values.
Congratulations Donna!!
Thanks for coming by to visit today. I look forward to the great things you’ll do in the People’s House.
Donna can we clone you?
We need some of that spine stuff.
Just curious, what is IRT foreign policy?
Hey, there’s Stoller.. You wanna talk about “teh hot”?
That time he was on Washington Journal and tore that idiot righty apart!
::Swooons::
The priority list is short and sweet — but daunting.
Get out of Iraq
Single payer, universal health care
Investments in the green economy and alternative energy sources
Heh, in regards to…! ;-)
Let’s all keep that in mind when we have future candidates here at Blue America to talk with
IRT is short for “in regard to”
In other words from what input influences her thoughts on foreign policy.
Was he wearing his [swoon] pink tie?
Maybe it is because Hillary (and McCain) may have wanted him as VP so Obama is addressing his problematic history now.
i knew you’d have a good one, and i don’t mind at all that kiddo got the credit for the question! *g*
I feel so upbeat about the opportunities that are ahead of us. Accountability, Integrity, and Good Work. Now, help me figure out a couple more progressives to support in the bids to be sworn in with me in January 2009 — ideas?
Now that’s the right list!
Thanks. Belief in our own possibilities and effectiveness, you are right. And for this we can all thank Jane (and Christy, Siun, Egregious, Biodun and everyone else here) for bringing the power of the Lake to us and inspiring us to act and put failure behind us as we keep going. (How many times did we contact Congress on FISA? And, well, the House finally listened.
I’d nominate Darcy up in WA … you’d two make quite a team of clear spoken real progressives!
Is there going to be a coordinated strategy to do this? Is this something you plan on taking active leadership in? It would be pretty great to have that kind of connection, reaching down from the House to bring in new progressives.
i think Colin should have to stand in line behind Rumsfeld, Feith and Elliot Abrams, but enough of that OT stuff.
[Mod Note; Agreed, let’s hold on the OT stuff while we celebrate with Donna.]
I still wanna know how you beat him so handily?
Is there some lesson here we progressive can use in other DINO challenges?
With the best one on top! Get out of Iraq! 8-)
I take my cues on foreign policy from the folks at IPS and Foreign Policy in Focus — Center for International Policy — and, others who believe that we live in a global community, who are committed to social justice, peace and diplomacy — first.
Will you be “mentored” by some congress critter?
In stategic terms, Ms. Edwards, how can we/you handle the problem of the lobbyists. I like Obama’s idea of open government (the nation’s business under the lens of C-SPAN) but there are so many more lobbyists now than a couple of decades ago (a hundred fold, I recall) it will be hard to negotiate around them.
Rahm Emmanuel
FWIW, Social Security has a great idea called TICKET TO WORK. It’s a win-win proposition to get people who are “disabled” back into the work force. Given the Bush administration, much of the execution is terrible, but I still think it is a good idea. I know you have a lot on your plate, but I hope you have someone on your staff investigate this program. There might be circumstances where physicians, particularly psychiatrists, could get people qualified, who are really disabled in terms of their inability to support themselves.
A monthly check from Social Security gets them off the streets, they have some income, they might be able to get a rent subsidy, foodstamps, and Medicare.
Then TICKET TO WORK, theoretically gives them the option to rejoin the work force. Also, right now the way TICKET TO WORK is written (and the way it should stay) is that entering TICKET TO WORK in no way endangers their eligibility for Social Security.
One of the many structural impediments to TICKET TO WORK actually getting more people earning, is that in the case of unscrupulous psychiatrists, TICKET TO WORK isn’t in their financial best interests. Per the New York Times Psychiatrists Top List in Drug Maker Gifts The pharmaceutical manufacturers pay them to shoe horn patients into the most serious psychiatric diagnoses, so they can prescribe the pharmaceutical’s most expensive medications.
No wonder we love you – these are the best sources around!
bravo!
As I said up front: Wow. This is so true, and so important.
Thanks, I’ll look them up. It is hard to find relevant content that is left of center.
Bite your tongue!
It will be interesting to see how fast Pelosi warms up to you, Donna, and recognizes you as an ally. Fast I hope
I’d love for you to make a general statement about the importance of solid progressives like you willing to take a chance to run. I was just trying to convince someone in these parts to challenge a particularly nasty incumbent whom I believe may be in legal trouble by November, but she is dissuaded by the fund-raising.
Can you do a PSA for running, no matter the odds?
Yay, Donna — congratulations on the primary win! We’re so thrilled for you, and for your constituents — because you are going to be such a thoughtful and compelling voice in Congress.
Well done!
(And thanks to Matt Stoller for the tech help and for braving the icy weather to poll watch, too. Yay, Matt!)
Well, I sure hope I’m joking… :)
First, we had a great team and built off of the momentum of the close loss in 2006. It was really important to build a solid progressive coalition — people who know how to knock on doors, make telephone calls, and stand at metro stops at 6 am. This was a very solid coalition — League of Conservation Voters, Sierra Club, Clean Water Action, Friends of the Earth — the best of labor SEIU, UNITE-HERE, UFCW local 400,– women, NOW, Fund for the Feminist Majority, Women’s Campaign Forum, EMILY’s List — and obviously a lot of volunteers — this is how I know we can do this.
Great idea!
The beauty of not needing any of them to get here — I don’t owe anyone but you — real people. So, please stand with me. Donna
Sounds like a great plan. Obviously, you win should help convince more of these institutional donors that progressives are worth supporting because they can run hard and win. And having you in Congress helping out can’t hurt either. Hopefully, you’ll be the first success story among many.
I wanted to say Congratulations! We need manufacturing jobs in America, how about a program to make LCD TVs and Monitors in the US, where the company would not have to pay any tax and the employees would not have to pay income tax on their wages, to keep costs down. No US company makes LCDs in the US, so there would be no complaints from them, of course Sony and Samsung would not be happy.
I think that would be awesome, too.
Congratulations, Donna. Your victory gave us hope.
Congratulations, Donna, I donated quite a hunk to yr. campaign. Hope it helped get the word out.
OT but worth it- Carol Lam’s (former) cohorts are trying to do Carol proud by nailing Brent Wilkes good & proper. Per the SD Union Tribune:
Prosecutors Blast Wilkes, Seek 25 Year Prison Term
I think you can count on FDL for all the support in the world. This group is intelligent and committed and knows how to pick the right people to support.
You need? You ask us and we will take to the phones, fax, email and paypal, whatever we can. We must get this country back from these crooks. People are suffering miserably from their policies.
I urge everyone who feels that hope to go to Blue America and take a look at our candidates and think about making a $5 or $10 donation today to the next Donna Edwards-type victory. I love the idea of Darcy Burner. But think back to our sessions with Dennis Shulman and Alan Grayson and Sam Bennett and Andrew Rice… and whoever impressed you.
It’s given us a lot more than hope. It’s given energy, resolve, and a great sense of accomplishment.
Donna, I think your victory may be more significant than even you realize.
We want the $46MM back too.
Did I hear that Andrew dropped out? Or was that another Andrew?
If the IRS leaves me with anything, I’ll toss in. They are leaning hard on me. ICK
Congresswoman Edwards, please feel free to ignore this one. Did Sen. Feingold’s Progressive Patriot’s Fund give you any money? I contribute to that and Russ asked us for the names of candidates we liked. I gave him your name.
All right Donna! One down, a couple of hundred-odd to go! We know we can get one good Democrat up there — let’s work on getting a few more.
Schumer chased Andrew Horne out of the race by drying up his funding– a typical DSCC/DCCC tactic. It takes a very very strong candidate– like the one we’re talking with today– to withstand that kind of tactic from inside the Democratic Establishment. That’s why it’s so important for grassroots progressives like Donna to be supported by folks like us.
Now that Christine Todd Whitman, former EPA Administrator has tesified before Congress that the Clear Skies Act of 2003 actually allows more pollution including mercury, I hope that is something you will revisit and fix, Thanks!
Whether you’re in rural Oklahoma or here in the 4th CD in Maryland — we need an education system that works for all of our children. My son had learning disabilities — no test would have worked for him. I believe we need an education system that engages parents and educators in developing learning and teaching tools to teach in the way that children learn. And, we need resources to invest in 21st Century technology for all our classrooms.
$25.00 to Darcy, sorry it can’t be more.
Is Darcy back on the “good” list?
That’s how we wound up being helpful to Donna– lots of $5 and $10 and $25 contributions. Thanks BooRadley!
YES!
Public funding of national elections is legislation we have to have. The idea that the Telecoms can buy themselves immunity is the tip of the iceberg. Sara over at tnh had a neat idea. IIRC, each registered voter could contribute two dollars. If candidates want to get elected, they have to appeal to registered voters. I’m not saying it’s the last word, it just struck me as a good idea.
Howie’s pointers to Alan Grayson, Dennis Shulman and more is a great start … we need to make sure Donna has good colleagues to work with in Congress!
Schumer… a piece of work. Just look at his posture and body language. What senators I have. Oy And Eliot too. Oy Vey
Did she fire that pompous fool that dissed the netroots?
Congratulations, Donna. Yours was a campaign to which I was proud to contribute. I was glad Blue America was there for me to channel funds in your direction. OpenLeft/FDL did a great job encouraging me to contribute, and convinced me it would make a difference if I did. A collaborative effort at its best. Maryland may be your home, but perhaps you’ll forgive me if I claim a little bit of you here in Colorado.
Well done, Ms. Edwards. And, best wishes.
I’m sure Shumer is really proud of his boy Mulkasey, too.
There’s a reason I call him Chuck the schmuck.
Yeah, I heard about that. Howie said she was. YMMV
I believe in original sin (not in a fundy kind of way) and the absolute worst about politicians.
I believe in progress, not perfection.
We’re never going to get perfect candidates, but I’m happy to support the less bad ones.
Schumer gave a speech yesterday at Yale Law School and attacked me for mentioning that he has a reptilian brain like a Republican. He touched a sore spot. I just posted a response to his attack.
Claim on Colorado.
As Barney Frank said, “I only voted for a perfect candidate once in my life, and by the time I was running for re-election I wasn’t so sure about him, either.”
Bad link, Howie. I don’t want to edit your post.
Thanks, never heard that one. LMAO.
Howie, that links seems to be no good. Can you fix? I am very interested in what you had to say to Schumer.
Actually, the best thing about the netroots is the pure democracy. As a candidate, it can be scary because you can’t control what happens. I’m willing to sacrifice the lack of control for the total democracy. The Internet has given so many of us a voice. That’s why it is so critical to stop the telecoms from controlling our access and our content. So, even when you’re critical of me — and you will be — I’ll swallow it because it’s little “d” democracy.
Sorry, Donna, I was referring to one of Darcy’s campaign staffers, who claimed Darcy wasn’t beholden to the netroots, etc… It was a stupid and callous remark!
Ms Edwards,
Now the hard part starts. Please remember, we got yer back!
Rus
Sorry. Here’s the Schumer link
Uh, that one gives a 404 error.
nope
Dear soon to be Congresswoman Donna Edwards – we’re all so happy and proud of your brilliant campaign and success. And everything Howie said at #22! It is an honor to pledge continued support through the fall election and your public service in the House of Representatives. Woo Hoo!
Ummm… Maybe the third time will be the charm…! ;-)
Sorry, Howie, that ones wrong too. I get a 404 message.
Well, it looks like I need to go. Thank you again for all you continue to do. I know that we can do this together. I can’t wait to be sworn in — January 2009. Accountability, Integrity, and Hard Work.
Donna
Donna – that’s what makes us support you! You see democracy as a shared people process not as just for the elite.
Thank you!
Great to have had you here. Congratulations, good luck and we know we will be proud of you!
I fixed them all. I’m sorry. I’m so excited having Donna here that I can’t type straight
Thanks Donna! Looking forward to great things come November.
LOL. Hit a nerve indeed.
Sorry I’m late.
Nothing has made me happier in politics since I started blogging than seeing you win, Donna.
I don’t quite know what to say, but thanks for everything, and thanks for coming by today.
Congrats, once again! Mahalo for being here today, Donna! Aloha!
If I read Edwards correctly above, she will fight for net neutrality. We will need her in this one.
Heh. I still like Chuck the schmuck.
No idea you went to Madison. Erasmus Hall boy here. You know we creamed you in basketball every year.
That is so spot on.
The most democratic institution / tool since the invention of the printing press. The WWW
“Accountability, Integrity, and Hard Work.”
Thank you, Donna Edwards.
Thank you Donna! We’re so happy for you.
Thank you so much Donna Edwards for being an incredibly great candidate. I am convinced that your win over Wynn caused Pelosi to actually look around for her spine. The FISA thing, you know.
Thank you, Donna Edwards.
Matt, if you’re still here, can you show everyone the video clip of Donna talking about the importance of new neutrality?
Big hat tip to Matt Stoller. IIRC, you were boot-on-the-ground in one of the precincts.
I’d be curious to know which dems called to congratulate her.
Thank You Donna,
If we had governance in your spirit, all of us here would be at peace.
He did WHAT?? Oh dear.
Thanks Howie and Jane for having Donna Edwards here today.
Donna, we are so proud of you!! Good job, nice strategy, great grassroots and great messaging. Plus you had a great canvasser on Primary Day out there in the cold and ice, who goes by the name of Matt.
I know that you are gone by now Donna, but I hope you will return and read all of the loving and cheering words being written here about you.
I stayed up late Tues. night and the only thing I really cared about was this race. It made my day . . and the next and several since then. I truly believe that your election is what gave a long needed injection of spine into the flaccid dems in the House causing them to do the right thing on Thursday. You may not want to take credit for it, but I think they got a wake up call late Tuesday night.
THANK YOU!!!! and Howie and Matt and everyone who worked to get the vote out.
Congratulations Donna, what a great victory for the country.
IIRC, Howie, Chuck, Norm and Bernie are all Madison grads.
Thanks! I also would love to see this subject (net neutrality) as the topic of a post here. Lots in it, I am not sure, I don’t understand. What I do get, convinces me that it is one of the scariest things out there (i.e. the potential to stop access to sites deemed inappropriate (not so much porn :-) but politically provocative sites).
And a big +1=1 with all of you
I am sure – jeez.

Oopss….what about that possible endorsement?
Major congratulations, Congresswoman Edwards! Congrats and more congrats.
As I’m a fairly poor progressive (monetarily speaking) although I am heavily educated!, $10, $20, sometimes $25.00 donations found their way to your coffers.
I’m sad to be so late, but I have to add my congratulations, Ms. Edwards!
Great agenda you will have lots of help from nay coalitions!!!
FWIW, and directed toward nothing visible on this thread, some subjects are best left on the wingnut sites where they originated.
They are particularly not appropriate as an off topic comment in a guest thread.
Thanks.
My guess is that the Obama camp doesn’t think a Powell endorsement right now would be such a great idea. The primary contest isn’t over, Obama’s consistent opposition to the war is an advantage, and an endorsement from the guy who sold the war to the liberal hawks wouldn’t be much help.
