Joining me talking about the record, which releases on Tuesday, February 19th, is my longtime drummer and partner in crime Lady Dee Plakas. My band The Stellar Moments and I want to thank everyone here at Firedoglake for their support. We hope you like our baby.
Part Two of the listening party will commence next Friday here as well, whilst my band will be in Brazil playing some shows. Thank you so much, this has been a long time comin’.

Donita!
Listening to “Need to Numb” — loving it already.
Welcome Donita!
Got my copy of the album today. AMAZING!!!
I’m enjoying “He’s Got the Honey”.
Thanks for sharing this with us.
Great song. Very Donita.
Lucy’s rocking out.
Hey hi howdy Firepups! Donita worked her tail off on this today, she did an awesome job dontcha think?
Got it in the mail today and have played it twice so far! It’s a sweet ass-kicker. And somebody wrote my name in cursive on the envelope; nobody ever does that!
Great Young Jess, you???
Thank you Jane!
The same, feeling good, enjoying the podcast :)
By the way my mom is registering right now so she’ll show up here in comments in a while
I quite often have a Need to Numb but He’s got the Honey is seriously rockin’!
Fini worked his tail off today too. Thanks Fini!
I’m loving “He’s Got the Honey” It’s great to hear Dee again! Good Luck Donita, have a fun in Brazil!
This is great, Donita, thanks!
Fini, we’re running smoothly thus far (knocking on wood). Ha, the player is awesome, you can just cut to the songs if you don’t want to hear Dee and I blabbing. Good job my man!
Thanks, I love it when you do these podcasts :) I especially like the Scottish guy’s question in the 4th convo segment.
Best of luck, Donita…and don’t let the XLR’s bite.
;>)
Saucey lad.
I’m taking my baby (Lahoma) out tonight. For dinner and dancing. TGIF.

Hi everyone.
In response to Donita Sparks @ 16
You’re around today, cool! Not at all scared of us hobby music critics?
In response to finifinito @ 7
Of course.
Appearently my mom is having some troubles signing in on her computer, she says hi and she can’t wait for the CD we ordered to arrive in our mailbox and also right now she’s enjoying the podcast with me :)
Hi YJ’s Mom! Thanks for listening to the podcast with us!
I’d also like to thank my co-producer of the record Ethan Allen.
Head-bangin’ goooood!
Thanks!!
PS: I have recently discovered “Bootie” at DNA in SF - are you aware of the mixes that feature Donita’s great songs - Like “pretend that we’re dead” and “infancy of a disaster”???
I got copies if you want to hear them, Fini.. just send me an email
Very cool. Tell her I said hey hey.
Donita, thanks, and thanks for the education, I get stuck in my own listening habits..He’s Got The Honey, way good. I am excited today, just ordered a new amp,and now your music..My Skin’s Too Thin..Music is always the best.
Donita,
Here’s the wiki on White Elephant
Great music!!! The sound is excellent on my toobz.
I love “Infancy of a Disaster” and “My Skin’s Too Thin” too. I love them all. Great job!!
“‘Snake!’, the monitor mixer cried…”
;>)
Hi Jacqrat, did someone do a mash-up with Infancy of a Disaster?
Hello YoungJess, hello Mrs. Jennifer.
I’m waiting for the CD as well. It’s probably being examined extensively at the custom office. Could take a while.
And..How big a venue do you play in..we have some places to play here in Bend, Oregon, but they are not big and a outdoor amphitheater in the summer.
Don’t forget to come back next week for Part 2 of the listening party with more segments with Dee and 4 more tunes from the CD. And don’t forget to get your copy directly from Donita’s Store on her website.
Thanks, Fini. Great work as always.
I’m off to order my copy from Donita’s store….
Hi Donita,
You know, I coulda sworn I heard it - but in looking at my “best in bootie 2007″ folder I only see the pretend that we’re dead one… could it have been done live last Saturday night????
“And the stage ran black like sackcloth with electrical tape, the curtain rose and the audience was horrified to learn Joe Lieberman would be entertaining them this evening with selected hits from the Pat Boone catalogue” - Revelations 20:10-12
Hey Donita, in your tour will there be any Canadian dates? Preferably Ontario
Your sales have increased by +1-thanks for making music Donita
Thanks for letting us do this here! Ain’t no party like a FDL party cuz the FDL party don’t quiiiiiiiit!
Me? I play clubs about 300 to 500 capacity. In Brazil bigger I think.
thanks to donita, finifinito and jane. brilliant!
Not sure yet. Those border crossings are a big drag, but we’ll try.
Howdy Selise! Great to see you here, thanks for coming by!
Donita, Thanks, it is always such a pleasure to lurk when you are here.
Is Dee from Michigan? Her accent is similar to that of my secret boyfriend Iggy Pop.
“My skin’s too thin” Rawks! Really a great tune. Thanks for the peek into the machine. :-)
long time finifinito!
been a bummer of a week an i thought some good music would help. and it sure is - got the stream playing really loud on my stereo.
TGIF Donita!
wow! i look forward to every friday’s “Spin I’m In” but this one is by far the best! so much fun to listen to you & lady dee chit-chatting, laughing, & having fun. of course, i love all the songs! can’t wait till your gig on feb 29th!

nora
My mom says you can always come to our place if you need a place to stay. North Bay is *cough* beautiful all year round (her words hahaha) ;)
Lurk as much as you want.
hey donita & D
love the 2 new songs! i’m ordering my CD today!
podcast was cool too. sad to hear you won’t be dropping your knickers anytime soon…..haha!
are you going to tour on the east coast anytime soon? pleeezzee?!?!
al
Wait a minute, I thought Iggy Pop was MY secret boyfriend?
Dee is from the South Side of Chicago, as am I.
Music always soothes my inner beast when Ive had a bad week. Glad you came by to rock out with us!
Thanks JoFish, glad you like it.
thanks, finifinito, i really should make a habit of it… sounds like i’ve been missing out!
We’re hitting the East Coast in June, with our knickers.
congrats to donita and D!
How about Europe? Don’t feel pressured by the question though, I’m not even sure if I could find the time anyway as I have a lot on my plate right now. :-/
so do we have any votes for which song should be “the single” from Transmiticate yet?
I think Dare Dare should be the single. But that’s just my opinion
A fine choice indeed!
Donita! I’m late late to the party but this sounds great so far!
Congrats, and Thanks for keeping us on the download.
I loved it! Great tracks, Donita.
Need to Numb is great.
Are you gonna bring Transmiticate to sell here in Brasil? I really can’t wait to buy mine!
I’m in a roller rink mood, and man would i love to skate to Need to Numb. That is a great song!
For once I disagree.
I think “Need to Numb” or “Infancy of a Disaster” would make the best singles. (My personal favorites though are “Curtains for Cathy” and “My Skin’s too Thin”) I don’t think “Dare Dare” would be a good choice to boost the sales. But then again, I don’t really know enough about music to make statements like this one here. So it’s OK to ignore what I just wrote.
Dang, DarkBlack, were’ve ya been? Hadn’t seen ya here in quite awhile…! Aloha, Donita and fini! Nice job!
You can buy your copy directly from Donita’s store if you wish! There is a specific link for international orders you need to click to pay for the extra shipping charges but you can order it right now if you like!
Aloha right back at ya!
Yes I’ll bring some copies to Brazil.
OK.. The podcast rocked.. and the songs were all really kickin’.. But I don’t do paypal (or paypal doesn’t do me). Waaaaah!
It seems that you’ve gotten your groove back! Are ya still planning on relocating?
clears throat…
umm… My opinion is that Infancy would be a good first single - familiar song; idiot music directors not willing to embrace anything “new or un-formulaic” would go for it -
Once you have their attention, curtains or dare dare (love em both equally) as a follow-up. But, of course it’s only an opinion.
You all are wonderful human beings for supporting Donita’s art like you do. Thank you all for coming today to listen to the first part of the podcast and be sure to drop by next week for the conclusion!
OH! I forgot - need to numb would also be a great second release
Thanks Eureka Springs,
I will send you a copy of course. Can you get your address to Fini?
Yeah, my roommates and I are discussing our options for where to move and keep coming back to looking at Las Vegas. Its a fast growing city and pretty progressive. It also has a ton of music/audio and internet jobs available too. Sounds like my kind of town, besides, anyplace you can get a crab buffet dinner at 4 am is really pretty effing cool.
Really great tunes, Donita. Wishing you all the very best with this angle..
Hi Donita,
Your music ROCKS
Have fun in BRAZIL. Just got back from Rio myself.
Ok everyone, I’m out for now. I’ll see you here next week for Part Two!
Thanks very much.
Well.. I would much rather pay until things kick in for you all, really. Maybe you or fini could give me snail mail addy.. And yes.. fini is at his all alert status in my chat now..)
Bye! See ya next week!
Well I’m late, work, chiropractor and traffic. What a treat, thanks Donita. Sounds great!
Heh, that’s where my sister moved, she’s an elementary teacher there…!
Hey fini!
I’ll try to buy it next week here in Brasil ’cause it’s cheaper for me ;)
Thanks for answering me!
Best wishes from Brasil!
