Ed Anderson graduates from choking Terry McAuliffe to providing compulsive commentary on the Mad Dog thrashing of Chris Shays (video) at Connecticut Local Politics:
6:04 pm:
Wow. Listening to Mike and the Mad Dog.
They say they are done with Shays, done, done, done, done, done.
Now they are doing an advertisement for Jim Himes. Reading his whole website on air, now like three or four minutes.
Mad Dog says “Shays picked a fight today!”
Man, I gotta get some money down on this fight. Like pronto!
And for the record, Chris “Mad Dog” Russo is a Republican.
6:23 pm:
Mike says Jim Himes is a Presbyterian, and is asking people to get out their checkbooks for Himes. Francesca telling people the most they can give is $4600.
Francesca: “We’ll have a Mike and the Mad Dog picnic for Himes up in Connecticut this summer…”
6:27 pm:
Mad Dog, “I’m embarrassed to be a Republican. Chris Shays was a disgrace, but he always is…”
I just talked to Edward on the phone. He tells me that Mike & the Mad Dog "own" drive time and Shays is toast.
He appears to be celebrating.

Jane! I’ll have one order of Shays toast, to go please.
Hi Jane. Good to have a new post, down stairs we were going out of our way to depress each other. Down with Shay. I also think, considering the recent Maine caucus, that we may have a chance against Collins by pressing the war.
Bad year for goopers. I don’t know these people, but they sound about as useful as warts.
Night all (no cocoa)!
Scraped burnt toast is what I’m hoping for. The man went off the deep end long ago.
Bonne Soir, Ma Cheri! I do like Melba Toast!
A recent photograph of Chris Shays.
If this Congressional baseball stupidity serves Shays up on a platter, I suppose it’s worth it, but jeez. The coverage the baseball player got compared to the death of the Constitution was really sad. Bread and circuses.
Like I said, I guess it’s worth it if it takes Shays down.
Will RGJoe campaign for Shays?
Oh, and — DONNA!
One can only hope…
Evening, Teddy!
Every call I have received in support of Obama this week, the person on the other end has gone out of their way to indicate they are/were a Republican. I’ve seen the script, that’s not in there.
One of Obama’s organizers for western Wisconsin is a Republican.
This could be a big sweep. 1932 isn’t out of the scope of possibilities if we can get the message out there.
Will RGJoe campaign for Shays?
pretty please with sugar on top
And before-and-after shots of Shays’ spouse.
You rang? *g*
Oh, I know you meant Donna Edwards. DONNA!
The message we need to get out there is: “Four More Years”
imho
hiya newt!
2nd!
Two Homeys…! ;-)
Works for me.
Umm, tinfoil hat started buzzing.
Donna! ;)
But will Obama have coattails? If the Rs who like him still vote for the other Rs on the ballot, the only effect will be a large vote count for the Prez, not a real change election.
teddy – do we know who the r is that donna is gonna be facing in the general?
Hey doodle!
I’d be really happy if my vote COUNTS.

Hi, Lou. I’m hanging by a thread.
I just read the earlier post. LOL. i can’t believe both these guys agreed on this and are getting into it like they have.
i grew up in the area and listened to those guys for a long time. Might be premature to say Shays is toast, but thses 2 reach a wide audience.
We’ve got Bob from Connecticut up next. Bob…
Hey Mike, hey Chris. Long time/first time.
What’s on your mind, Bob?
-(Bob fr. CT) This idiot, Shays. Where can I go to vote against him? Like, can anybody in Connecticut do that?
-(R)I don’t know about that. Mikeee, what’s the story on that?
-(F)Well, he has to live in Shay’s district.
-(R)What if he doesn’t, Mikeeeee. Can we get Bob an absentee ballot? ‘causae this guy Shays gotta go. OK. 1-800-555-WFAN.
Whew, I’d almost feel sorry for Shays, with two anchors weighed around his neck… For Shrub will most assuredly stump for him… ;-)
Heh, does it matter? *g*
Many of the races around here are close enough that simply bringing out new Dems will make the difference.
or wynn will cross the aisle.
That would certainly be good news, Richmond. I like Tom Allen a lot as a candidate.
You mean, FORMALLY cross the aisle? :)
Hey Jane, about your psot, Sunday night. I left a comment that sounded more stupid thatn most. I thought you saw that game at the Garden and later it hit me that you saw it in washington. Duh.
yes :)

Plus BFL seeeeeeeems to have cornered the market on e’s.
Seriously, from what I read, it would be a legitimate electoral miracle for anyone but a Democrat to with that Maryland seat.
Of course, it’s instructive to note that I picked Frederick of Hollywood to win the Gooper nomination 6 months ago…

Wynn got more votes than all the R’s put together. And even if you add the votes that Wynn got to the votes the R’s got, I think Donna still wins. I’d have to go back and look, but I think so.
According to Rove last night with Chris Wallace, the preznit will make many fundraising and base-rallying trips on behalf of candidates this fall. It’s up to us to ensure the local media covers these visits — and that demonstrators are out in force.

sorry, my earlier was in error. i was looking at percentage of the vote – peter won with 39% and i think that percentage is higher than the percentage wynn got. not votes – perecentage of the vote.
Don’t remember it BL so it probably went right over my head.
Presidential debate here tomorrow night, but I can’t get tickets. Bwah!
Looks pretty decisive to me!
Thing o’beauty, Teddy.
no ticket means you get to attend out front with a protest sign – so many to choose from – fisa, iraq, impeach…
doodle is rolling up, big luncheon at the new job tomorrow. Good lord, did I get lucky!
True. But now that Teddy has posted both counts it still comes out that combine the R’s votes and Wynn’s votes and Donna still beats them all.
How cool is that?
g’nite doodle
G’night doodle, will catch up with you on FB and find out about that new job…sleep well!

Kobe took a big steaming shit on the neighbor’s lawn this morning.
Said it was an act of political protest over the FISA vote but I’m not buying it. I think he was just cold and wanted to get it over with quickly so we would get in his car and drive for pumpkin loaf.
hmmm, sterling idea.
I should hope not… ;-)
CT, the Dems showed up in force yesterday here in the DC metroplex!
Oh I don’t know, Jane — I think Kobe is probably an activist at heart… *g*
Well, as long as he stays away from my yard, he can protest all he wants…*g*
Whatever Kobe ate last nite, feed it to him again please.
That they did! I’ll try to take pix and relate my caucus experience next Tuesday!
He’s requested steak for the Supplemental.
Just as well. Nothing really. Me talking about the Rangers fans and how you jinxed the Rangers and… just dumb stuff.
The more the merrier!
Kobe deserves the best – activism is sometimes a shitty job but one that can be done easier with the best tools possible. does kobe ever eat a prune danish?
Didn’t it snow up there? wasn’t the lawn snow covered? those are trcky dumps when the nsnow is almost right up to their butts.
Good evening Suzanne, fixed it for you, hope it’s to your liking.

Yes!!! Yes!!!! Beagle. Stomp. Them. OUT!!!!!
I love beagles. i can’t believe one never won before.

Yeah something like that. Hehehe.
That Beagle was something else, I loved his walk, and energy, great animal.
midnight hour. i gotta run. i know what’s ghonna happen tomorrow. it’s gonna be one of those thursdays where i walk around all day thinking it’s friday.
g’nite bfl
Aloha, BFL!
This whole baseball thing is making me ill. The Congress thinks they are doing something big, all the while they’re too stupid to smell the constitution burning in the corner. I’d love to see them question the members of bushco who are in contempt the same way. They didn’t hesitate to call bullshit and lies. If only the people who sit on this committee knew how stupid they made themselves look today.
Buenas noches, BFL.
Bonne nuit BL.
Suzanne, I noticed that on the sunset side of the lake a wonderful cliff rises from the depths. Would you mind if I went there for a dive? Wouldn’t want to intrude on your turf.
How does one ‘misremember’ a shot in the arse…? I’m watching a rerun of the House testimony…
we’ve not had a cliff diver – tis way beyond the scope of my abilities. just be sure to sign the waiver and.. do you want a spotlight shown onto the waters or is the ambient light sufficient?
Possibly the same way one misremembers firing US Attorney’s for political reasons.
CT, “misremember” sounds suspiciously like a Boosh-ism, don’t you think? *g*
The question I have is could one imagine these clowns questioning any member of bushco in the same fashion?
D’oh! Silly me…! ;-)
I believe it’s a republican thing.
Thanks Suzanne, no spotlight needed.
***drum roll*** watching the sunset side of the lake where quebecois plans his cliff dive
With Shays’ pattern of looking lame and childish in the clutch, he would fit in very nicely with the Democratic leadersheep group we currently have going.
bmaz — “leadersheep” — love it!
Hate to say it but you’re right. If I have to see that plastic smile of Pelosi’s one more time…
Well, Shays did take MacNamee to task, didn’t he… Didn’t he score a autographed ball afterwards? *g*
CTuttle – Who’s story do you believe?
BTW, bmaz, will Pelosi and Hoyer stand firm on FISA…? Bwhahahaha…
I believe Andy Petite…! *g*
The Clemens thing is now more than just baseball.
The committee members have aligned themselves completely on party lines, with the GOP lining up behind an obvious liar, and the Dems calling them on it.
Same old same old, for sure.
But this time, it’s done on a stage where the average joe can actually see what is happening.
Russo himself said today something along the lines of ”This isn’t the war or Iran or whatever they are talking about. They are talking about something that I understand. They’ve come onto my turf now.”
Yeah, it’s sad that it takes a huge waste of time and money and newsprint in the form of a ridiculous House hearing to finally drive the point home to the mainstream public.
But when a guy like Russo wakes up to what is happening with today’s GOP, then let’s not look a gift horse in the mouth. Rather than shrugging it off as some dumb sports thing, let’s embrace it just a little and grab these swing voters while we can.
Hug a baseball fan! Yeah, I said it!
(For the record, these guys don’t just own drive time, they own drive time from Boston to Philly on the radio, and they are simulcast nationally on TV. Plus they are on the air 5.5 hours a day. Shays has a serious problem on his hands, but so too does every other gooper within earshot.)
Lovely trek by the way, went in the water, it’s deep enough and I think I’ll be safe.
The climb up there is easy, I’m about 45 feet from the water. I’m on a small outcropping, facing the water.
I’m visualising the jump. Breathing in the sweet breeze.
Pushing off, in a reverse double, grabbing my knees to acelerate my rotation, I spot the water at one and a half, I open to interrupt, my body is straight, feet pointing to the water, and I drop to the water while doing a third flip by arching my back, little pike to adjust, squeeze the feet, and I’m in. Well, that makes my day… Thanks
Naughty bits?
YEAH! that was one hell of a dive, q. dayam, where did you learn that!
yawn

Civic doody.
-G
He seems to be the only believable one of the crop.
It is weird that it did split down party lines, I find it fascinating actually, maybe it’s because I’m a die-hard BoSox fan…?! Especially since Clemens had already passed over to the Dark Side… ;-)
Formidable!
Was he wearing a Rove battery pack and ear-piece?
-G
It’s no shock that the Goopers are with the owners, right?
Brava! Nice Dive!
buddhabrad- gotta say I never thought of this way, but really, you are so correct!
Was a trampoline competitior and I did some diving on a provincial level in my teens. Thanks for the platform…
I am a lifelong sports fan and a lifelong democrat, and I cannot begin to tell you how amazed I am at how today unfolded.
I can’t even think of a good analogy for how big a turnaround it is for Russo to jump on the GOP as badly as they did today.
In real terms, Bush is a former baseball owner, and the owners want to protect themselves and Clemens, so they are lining up to protect the business interests. (sound familiar)
Good night (and bonne nuit) pups.
Do you have the proper swimwear?
Whaa… Suz, no FTFY…? *g*
Hi Suzanne…
sweet. feel free to use it any night i’m on.
and keep an eye out for that blasted bulgarian judge – i saw him giving you the hairy eyeball during your dive – he’s over behind the potted palm trying to be sneaky with that cell call he’s making
Bonne nuit, LL!
Aloha, LL!
g’nite ll slleep welll
ct, that was your one pass – cause it aint opening day yet
hey biodun
Bonne nuit LL.
I’d be interested in seeing a few baseball owners testifying in front of Waxman. Could get interesting.
Cool dive!

“Hillary Clinton will take the Democratic nomination even if she does not win the popular vote, but persuades enough superdelegates to vote for her at the convention, her campaign advisers say.”
Will James Baker come on board to argue the case?

Swimwear! I don’t need no stinkin suit!
Thanks Suzanne, I might do this again one evening.
I love the photo that Peter James…Donna Edwards Republican Opponent…has up on his web-site!
The guy just oozes trust! “Wanna sub-prime mortgage, buddy?”
And what is that stuff on the back of his head…spray-on hair over a bald spot? A hibernating ferret? A woolen tea-cozy?
is why i was warning ya about that bulgarian judge…
Doesn’t Waxman have more worthwhile investigations to conduct? Priorities???
buddhabrad-
Well, baseball is the “all American game”
Where were you/ where are you- where did you listen?
Heh Suz,
That is so funny — hey, competition for diving?
No, it means that even if Wynn ran as an Independent and got ALL the Republican votes he still would be beaten in a landslide.
geez, whatta crappy site – it really does look more like a high school election site than a congressional one.
hey christine e
He’s already doing more work than most of the other committees. I doubt this was much of an effort, if he was the one in charge of the hearing today.
Yes, I absolutely agree with you. He could start by frogmarching Bolten and Myers into his comittee.(sp?)
I second that, speaking from Ohio. Where I betcha my last vote didn’t count.
I asked the poll worker about the machines in 2004. “How do we know the machine counted our vote right?”
She said, “WE haven’t had any trouble with them!”
Oh well, that makes it all better, then.
Hey, does anyone remember what happened in Afghinstan just before 9/11?
Masoud Shah was assassinated.
I get the feeling that the Mugniyah assassination in Syria is the opening shot of the war on Iran and Syria.
-G
Donna Edwards 59,462 60%
Al Wynn 35,590 36%
The Republicans got 11,000 votes total in their Primary.
If Wynn bought all of those votes he’d still lose to Edward’s by another 13,000.
He did put a lot of both time and effort into it. Many far more important issues out there.
*sigh*
Did you know that Obama has won only one significant state?
http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com…..62535.aspx
Christine, no competition at all, just fun.
yet another argument as to why we need to thin the herd
Hi Hi Margot!
We voted at the Board of Elections in 2006, downtown Cleveland. They had a person videotaping everyone who registered and voted. We had touch screens with paper receipts. Hmmmm.
Isn’t he the clown that lamented about how the ‘elites’ are supporting Obama?
-G
Baseball owners include ex-Sen. Mitchell, I am told on good authority.
Your dive was amazing… (sorry Suz, I luv ya!)
Penn should’ve been the first one to get the heave-ho from Hill’s campaign…!
pups, just a heads up (and warning) – i’m waxing floors (insert swear words of choice here) tonight for the brokers open house tomorrow morning

I’m sure that all of those voters will be quite taken aback to learn that they live in “insignificant” states. Crikey! What a completely arrogant statement.
I’ll put my suit on now…;-)
The commonwealth of Virginia, birthplace of the right to freely profess a religion and the Declaration of independence, not to mention a slew of presidents, begs to differ.
Politicos, tell me if this counts as a macaca moment for a political strategist?
From the other commonwealth, the only significant one in Mr. Penn’s opinon, I bid you all good night.
Ooh, but, I don’t think that Andy is misremembering as badly as his bud is saying…
In the spirit of Larry Craig and his reprimand:

cliff divers are a rare and special breed – i wish i could but i can’t. i’m gobsmacked at the thought of diving off a cliff.
Free market is a license…to steal.
I certainly don’t think it is okay for these overpaid drama queens to take drugs, but guess what – I really don’t care. If they want to destroy their bodies, so be it. Our country is falling apart and that Congress is holding hearing on this issue is stupid. ~~~ModNote: Edited for content. Intonations of violence are prohibited, even in jest.~~~
OK! I’m expecting great dives this winter to cheer us all up.
Bonne nuit!
Hey Chris!
I didn’t get a paper receipt in 2006; hope we get one this year.
Got Ms. ET an iPhone for V-Day. It is being activated at iTunes right now. I’m her hero once again – briefly, I suppose…
Bonne nuit, I’m out of here myself.
Merci Suzanne.
What does perplex me is the fact that Waxman stated that the testimony was ‘diametrically opposed’, yet, on a follow up ques. said he didn’t think Clemens lied…! WTF?
It’s very simple. There are pledged delegates, super delegates and insignificant delegates. :)
Well, I’m back to the local school for voting in November, and that’s fine. We’ve had, as you know, such a damn scandal for voting in Ohio. Bye Ken Blackwell, hello Strickland. Do you think it will help? Oh, for crying out loud, I’m not even from here. Does the state of Delaware mean anything for anyone?
Why is it the football coach dude can’t spy on the other team but our government can spy on us?

Superdelegates, be sure to ignore democratic turn out that snarled traffic and survived blizzards and exhausted supplies of ballots, them there ain’t quality folk, ain’t our type of folks.
If not a macaca moment, it’s veering on a Jesse Jackon won SC moment.
What was he thinking.
Wait. I am assuming he thinks.
Clearly a sleep-deprived brain.

I’m in Seattle, and either listen via the streaming audio or watch it on the YES simulcast. I work from home and rarely miss much of their show on a daily basis. Hate their politics, love the sports knowledge. Until today, that is. Now its all love.
Brilliant. Worthy of front paging in the Boston Papers, or at least published letter to the editor.

I thought Mitchell did as best he could against a stacked deck. Not like he could really do anything against the rock-solid players union, who refused to cooperate at all.
But the Mitchell Report may still lead to more federal charges, as will today’s Congressional hearings.

So Jane, I was taking you on about the MSNBC thing before, mostly because I think that Rachel Maddow is terrific, but tonight Countdown had an exclusively white male show (since Maddow and Eugene Robinson weren’t on). Olbermann could do better than that.
omg that website looks like something the rest of the internet vomited into a pail.
Too bad we couldn’t get coverage of FISA in a similar fashion…during drive time…The same “cooks” mentioned by Mad Dog have been pro FISA- retro immunity.
Maybe someone should point it out to Mike and Mad Dog…
