One comment from this Larue.

This thread topic, Biodun, and the resultant comments, have been incredibly energizing.

It has been incredibly moving too . . . uplifting.

I’m so jaded about the 1% ruling etc, I easily lose all hope anymore, wishing for change, REAL change. And watching as any hope of that change is snatched in some Senate FISA vote, or a Pelosi capitulation over impeachment, etc.

And yet, here it is, and there it is. Hope. Digital age communications, the internet, an equalizer of equal participation.

ALMOST like our votes will really count anymore, again. Like our voices CAN shape change and enable it, if we shout enuff and often enuff.

Very cathartic and empowering shit, this is, Biodun. Well done by you, and EACH AND EVERY COMMENT!

I’m quite amazed, pleased, and humbled . . . thanks for the light at the end of a tunnel folks.

I was/am TIRED of defeatist electoral politics and a controlling and defeatist MSM/Corporate Structure killin the progressive voices, decade after decade. The shit wears ya down, while trying to educate yerself when young, hold jobs, survive, thrive economically . . . all the while watching as one’s values become less and less valued in the working world, and less honored and defended by our elected officials.

N cso, ongrats, too, Donna Edwards. ;-) Glimmer of hope . . . I KNOW it’s like Lucy And The Football. I KNOW it’s gonna get pulled away the minute I lift my leg and bring it forward to kick the ball . . but it sure as hell is better than NO hope. *G*

Here’s to progressive access and communication capability for the masses. *G*

Interesting. Put will he disappoint the people by showing that he is actually more establishment than he might seem? Judging from the polls before and after he withdrew from the race, most of his supporters already decided that they preferred Obama to Clinton. Obamas rise was largely the result of 70-80% of Edwards supporters shifting to Barack. His endorsement would not me likely to seriously alter those of his supporters who have shifted to Clinton nor to those supporting Obama…UNLESS he gives strong cogent reasons and distinctions between them.

Whether his endorsement would change those choices is unclear to me. Whether his endorsement would carry much clout in Wisconsin (Kucinich’s perhaps) or Hawaii is unlikely. If he announces now it’s likely because it’s actually the one time when his influence would be slightest…after Super-Tuesday and the Potomac Primaries. Or he could wait until after March 4th.

If he had wanted to make a strong PERSONAL endorsement it would have come right after he withdrew. Even if he does so just prior to March 4th…how much influence would he have on races in Texas, Vermont and Ohio is not all that clear.

Biodun:

Once again, you’ve courageously tackled a complex and difficult subject;
clearly displaying your consummate artistry, going straight to the heart of the matter and thereby educating the rest of us.

This post is an awesome and critically important piece of (exquisite) work.
Not merely for its substance, but equally significantly, for the questions it engenders, not simply for the moment, but in that larger philosophical sense of cultural purpose and social consequence.

biodun–

i read it all…….good post

here’s what i think-
the new time continuum only applies to things that are not tangible……….and things generated in this ’land’ eventually become tangible in order to be utilized.

once it’s made tangible, it is no longer in that realm…..

anything tangible has to be done the old, hands on way.

so i really don’t see it as revoluntionary, just another way to do things. things evolve, but a lot that is NECESSARY in our lives still stays the same……

a gallon of milk still has to come from a farmer who has cared-for bred cows, has to be milked, has to be transported, has to be packaged, has to be stored, stocked and sold and physically brought home………then you have to put it in a glass and drink it.

i don’t see how cyberspace is gonna deliver that exec any milk purely from his keystrokin’……….

there are people who are unaware of this ’new world’ but i don’t think it will affect them much……they don’t know how their banks do business, and don’ t much care.

they still gather at the dairy queen every morning and talk local and national. they call their politicians, hell, they know them because they show up and take them to task and let them know what their concerns are.

i think a lot of people who have the internet use it for email and to find recipes.

most of the young people-educated-i know use it to keep in touch with their friends and to download music and video.

i’ve said before, here, that i was doing the internet when it first started, then had a break for about 10 years, and started back a while ago, i don’t see much of an improvement………it was easier to pick out valid, accurate information back then….and you didn’t have to upgrade every three months in order to access a website just because they updated their ’ads’ section….lotta crap on here now.
