I think anyone would recognize that she and her supporters would have won this race without the “Obama factor” although that likely contributed to the scale of the victory a lttle. </p> <p>I’d like to say that one of her first tasks is to keep the organization running…not because she will lose the General (the Republicans don’t have a viable candidate really and don’t have a chance in that District, quite honestly). But every voter in her district will have an impact on the Presidential election. We need her to get out the voters just as if she were in the race of her life!</p> My Congrats to Donna, as well! But Ned was self-financed and you cannot expect many insurgent candidates to be able to do that. With Donna, the progressive alliance of MoveOn/SEIU/Blogs provided some real financial muscle (in addition to the PR value that got her earned media). The others were nice endorsements but they mainly served to legitimize the campaign (very important, I don’t mean to denigrate that). One thing I’ll add to your observations, Jane, is that, as I’ve said here many times, there are many in the Democratic party who won’t take the progressive netroots seriously until we show that we can hurt them as well as help. Now we’ve demonstrated that we have that ability. It will be interesting to see what the reaction is.</p> I did contribute, and I’m glad she won.
