Update II: Chris Van Hollen is on MSNBC announcing that they’re extending the voting until 9:30 in Maryland.
Update: MSNBC calls Virgina for Obama.
Markos
analyzes the three things he feels are necessary for a successful primary challenge and concludes:
1. We’re the main attraction on the ballot,
2. We have the money to get out our message (duh), and
3. Turnout remains low.
Weather here in the DC area is horrible, it’s 26 degrees out, the roads are icy and there are accidents everywhere. If low turnout favors Donna Edwards today, the weather will work to her advantage.
Matt Stoller continues to man his polling place in MD-04. He says there’s no Al Wynn person there. I guess money can’t buy you love after all.

Go Donna!
Come on Donna!
As icy as Al Wynn’s heart eh?
I sent Donna some dough- really hope she takes it.
Enough hooky- back to work now.
Donna!
13 mins til the VA polls close…
i hope donna kicks al’s ass from here until tomorrow… but i can’t hope for low turn out.
If low-information voters keep returning bad Democrats to office, how do we reach them?
I voted in VA today, I wish I coulda’ voted in MD today.
I NEED to see her win after Pelosi’s poor behavior regarding the netroots support of her. I can’t remember who she turned her back on, a kos guy?, and walked off when he told her we were wanting to see Wynn GONE. It was Matt Stoller, i think? after that, Donna had ME!
Since I can’t be there to help, I just sent a little contribution to Donna … GO DONNA!
and bravo Matt!
By definition, the only real way to reach them is very expensive media ads.
Donna, Darcy and Dr. Wulsin one of my Four D’s for the US House – along with Diane Benson! I’ve sent Donna more money than ANY candidate outside my home state ever. Got my fingers crossed.
My heart is your’s, Lahoma. ;0)
“I guess money can’t buy you love after all.”
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMwZsFKIXa8
When Donna wins, I’ll smile today.
That’s a solution for today. How about tomorrow? I’d like to break up the media conglomerates and allow free air time for political ads. I’d like blog video content to be easily available on TV, so users can tune into it (that only peels off people interested enough to watch, though). I’d like to bring back something like the Fairness Doctrine to get real liberal talk generally available on radio.
I’m in the MD 4th district, in the Northern Montgomery County section. There were no Edwards or Wynn poll workers at my polling place this morning. But I got there at 7 a.m. and voted by 7:20.
Go Donna!
Barak in Va
MSNBC calls Virginia for Obama, based on exit polls.
Yay Virginia!
I wish Donna well, but how can it be good for democracy if there is a low turnout?
Based on MSNBC exit polling, Clinton did not achieve her goal of keeping it “close” in Virginia.
These expectations games are amazing.
Maybe Tomorrow
Keith Olbermann on early today and Obama wins Virginia. Moron reporting Obama set a record turnout in VA.
EG what up?
ABC called it for Obama…
THANK YOU, VIRGINIA! Virginia is for Lovers. I’m lovin’ there myself right about now!
Well, if were dreaming, I’d like to see public financing of elections and/or a constitutional amendment (with the Supremes ruling that $=free speech, that’s what it would take) to force the media to provide free access to candidates in return for the piece of the airwaves they receive.
thanks! you saved me from Wolf! i owe ya.
Hey Raven, mighty strange to watch the Virginia race from the other coast. Voted with a provisional ballot here. They give you a phone number, you can call after 30 days to see if your vote was counted or not. Never heard of that before.
It’d be the only thing worth smiling about today!
Steny Hoyer just gave Al Wynn $150,000. They only possible use for the money was to buy votes.
Hmm, I wonder if it is automated?
MSNBC calls for Obama as well.
If anyone is going to be in Milwaukee for the Founders Day dinner, please let me know, my wife and I will be working the registration table and would love to catch up with some of you!
Hillary and Obama will both be there.
Michelle was speaking outside of Green Bay today, I’m waiting for reports from former students about her and the crowds.
Matt, “you da man,” leading by example.
All about the delegate shakedown. Obama’s got to win big, I mean BIG today. TX and OH are gonna be tough, so it’d be nice to have a big lead going into March 4th.
Go Donna! (I did get a fundraising letter from her today…a little late)
I think it possible to call it for Obama. I will have to check that assumption with the VIP. Naturally.
Well, Jane did say it was good for grassroots primary challengers, not that it was good for democracy. However, there is an argument to be made that difficult conditions select for more motivated supporters, which counterbalances the advantage of incumbency among less motivated and “low information” voters, and therefore better for democracy.
We can track the Edwards / Wynn race here:
http://projects.washingtonpost…..istrict-4/
Karl Rove. You nasty little piece of work. You’re almost toast.
Redshift, what was your polling place like today?
Was shocked to learn absentee ballots are not counted unless the precinct votes are “unusually low” here in Monterey County. Kind of gives new urgency to the ole bumpersticker “question authority”. :~(
Good thing that Obama is a constitutional lawyer…
Go Donna!!!!
I think we may be surprised in Ohio and Texas. Somehow I cant see things turning on a dime for Hill
I can’t wait to hear the turnout numbers in Virginia. At my precinct about thirty minutes before the close, there had been 670 votes in the Democratic primary, 152 votes in the Republican primary.
In political terms, those races are an eternity from now.
FYI, Rachel Maddow up on MSNBC!
Maryland & DC polls close 45 minutes from now.
I am so encouraged by the massive Dem turnout all over the country. We are engaging people once again.
ah – Mrs. Greenspan makes her first appearance tonight. Since things are looking less-than-peachy for Hillary, she appears to be happy and serene.
Hey – Mr. Greenspan – this could be the night…
I cannot say I ever hope for a low turnout. I am of a mind that I like high turnouts, and let the chips fall where they may. Traditionally low turnouts have favored Republicans. Am I wrong on this? And I think I understand the dynamics of the Donna Edwards election. Wishing for a low turnout almost smacks of cheating in my brain.
I sent her $$$ three times – I think tonight will be our night!
LOL !
I agree with kiddo.
L.
Pat Buchanan just called Arlington & Alexandria Counties “marxist country”
I don’t know about Ohio, but I believe Texas will break for Obama. He has huge support here…at least in the cities and with the youth.
That is so uncalled for.
We are pulling for Senator Obama. ;0)
Obviously he’s gaining fast, but a SurveyUSA poll today (the most accurate so far) has Hillary up 18%. We cannot underestimate the political machine machine Terry McAuliffe built up in the big states. That was his very vocal strategy when he was DNC chair, and now that he’s with Hillary he’ll be able to pull a lot of strings in those places. Of course, where Terry closed or starved Dem offices like MS, ID, and so on, Obama’s totally cleaning up.
Hillary won pretty big in the big states on Super Tues, and I attribute much of that to this. Obama still has a lot of catch up to play in the big states beacause of this. I think he’ll get it much closer, but not sure he win in those states. Anyway, he’s doing so well in smaller ones, he might not need those big three…just keep it as close or closer than California.
It was great, probably record turnout. From the opening at 6am to just before noon, there were never less than a dozen people in line, and for most of the morning, it was a thirty to forty minute wait to vote. The freezing rain started in the middle of the afternoon, and 395 South was basically shut down during rush hour because of ice on the ramps and a bunch of accidents, so the evening rush was not as big as it might have been, but there was still a steady stream of people.
oh my – Pat Buchanan is in full-goose, balls-to-the-wall, I’ll-say-anything-if-it’s-stupid-enough mode tonight.
Ahem – Mr. Buchanan – that’s Rachel Maddow sitting next to you… (just tryin’ to help)
Mark Penn is still in charge.
Pennsylvania governor Ed Rendell says Barack Obama is going to lose votes because some white voters are not ready for a black president:
“I think there are some whites who are probably not ready to vote for an African-American candidate.”
Rendell also said he thought race cost his Republican opponent, former NFL star Lynn Swann, around five points in the 2006 election for governor.
Quite a bit of shennanigans are possible given the state of the selection process for either of the two parties. Delegate count, super delegates, not counting absentee ballots under certain (most?) circumstances, caucus states, primary vote states, open or closed primaries, and god knows what all. It sure as hell is not a true democracy. The system insures that we the people are not the dominant force in the election process. It is fundamentally flawed.
Woo-hoo! I’m so honored. That’s almost as good as a few weeks ago on Stephanopolous, I think, where he called John Edwards “Trotsky.”
Guess Pat finally saw the light on corporate socialism via Defense appropriations.
That’s my Governor. :( He’s a long time full-on machine Democrat who gave us a conservative Senator to replace man-on-dog Santorum. He’s also an ass.
We had to go pick Marcy up at the metro. There were accidents everywhere, freezing rain, icy roads, a real mess.
We’re back now, lying on the bed with the dogs watching the returns. Kobe has declared for Obama, Katie confided to Marcy that she supports Clinton and Lucy wants to be the new Obama Girl.
Katie is moping and saying “it’s all about Ohio.” Everyone is waiting for the pygmie returns.
Obama projected to beat Clinton in Virginia
Race between McCain, Huckabee is too close to call, NBC News says
Got 2 tv’s? Westminster is on at 8.
Hi Marcy! Hi Jane! Hi original FirePups!
I have been accused of being a socialist.
NEW YORK – The owner had just the right touch, trying to soothe her French bulldog’s trembling paws.
“There, there,” Patty Hearst said. Far removed from the days when her image as a machinegun-toting revolutionary captivated the world, Patricia Shaw Hearst was in more genteel surroundings Monday. She was tending to Diva at Madison Square Garden, petting her soft head on dogdom’s biggest day.
62% of Virginia GOP voters listen to conservative talk radio. 68% of Virginia GOP voters call themselves conservative. Per MSNBC.
(McCain’s gonna get smoked.)
It’s an open primary, right? Looks like all the independents have abandoned the Rethuglican party.
I have been accused of being a socialist.
Boy, I wish that was the worst thing I’ve been accused of.
Hi kiddo – how’s tricks?
And a standard poodle won the non-sporting group…
Open Left with 1% of the VA vote has Huck at 64% …
I so want him to win … ;->
Nope. The system is fully adherent to the designers’ core objective:
Preserve corporatist rule.
OT arghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and 3rd day with viral fluuuuu
I’m glad you made it home safely. I’d like to go to the Obama party, but no way am I going back out in that stuff.
Here’s a question for the gang: Should we Democrats switch to winner take all primaries?
The only thing worse than what they do to cockers is what they do to standards!
You gotta love what the wingnuts are doing to Saint John.
“(McCain’s gonna get smoked.)”
Thanks Teddy – you never fail to cheer me up! Always thought McCain was over the top and oh so embarrassing.
This has been a great day for us. Sunny and warm. Hope the same for you.
teh kewl, thanx
Timmeh – Obama wins Independents in VA 66 to 33…
I agree 100%. My mom used to raise cockers in the 40s and she was starting to get horrified then. She probably wouldn’t recognize the breed today.
You have the flu too? It’s just all over the place! I wish you well…
i cant rest with this hacking cough!!!!!
hiya, egregious!
Go, DONNA!
I love watching people whine about weather that would make an Alaskan pull out the dog team for a 100-mile romp…
Thanks for the updates … I can’t bear to watch Timmeh’s smirk or AC’s squint …
McCandyCain is getting licked!
I just got back from working the polls in northern Montgomery County MD. My legislative district contains part of the 4th CD (Wynn) and part of the 8th (Van Hollen). For those precincts in the 4th, I didn’t see any Wynn workers, only Edwards. Turnout was a little lighter than expected, although it was steady throughout the afternoon. I think the rain and ice may have put the kabosh on the evening voters, though.
Obama is skewering Hillary in Va. almost 2:1. Dayam. The 30 percenters will be shitting nickels in November.
Hey ET!
Fingers crossed for Donna…
I think people been catching it on the net, the ultimate biological-tech warfare agent. ;)
I came down with the flu the day after we got back from the Delbert Cruise. Still have a cough but I’m better. Kicked my ass, though.
honey and lemon
If we get any more snow in Toronto (already as much as the last 2 years combined) I’ll be calling you about those Dogs … *g*
thank yee… i went to the doctors office with a uti,and left with the flu virus……………why do they put EVERYBODY togeyther, smashes head on wall
Before that, gargle with warm/hot salt water.
Being in a predominantly female family, I can vouch for the effectiveness of Pure Cranberry Juice for UTI …
Put some sugar in a little bourbon and drink it. Cough will stop and you’ll sleep like a baby.
ive grown bumblebee wings……… headache is amazing
According to an OpenLeft commenter: CNN says Obama won Latinos in Virginia 55-45
MSNBC: Voting extended in Maryland until 9:30 PM
i cant rest with this hacking cough!!!!!
honey and lemon
maybe with a shot of rum and melted butter… smooth + after a few … what cough…who cares about no dam cough
MD polls now will stay open until 9:30pm due to the weather
i have no bourbon, will scotch work?
KO reporting Maryland polls will remain open late due to the bad weather hintering voter turnout.
Yes, it will. This remedy has been around for 100 years or more.
I hear you…I lived in terror two weeks ago 24/7 with Mr. LS very sick — everyone at his job(s) have/had it…it took about 3 days and then the fever broke and he got better quickly…still coughing and his ear is plugged up. I made the most potent potion of Chicken soup I could conjure up…I swear that is what turned the corner for him..everything except the kitchen sink…
I ate it too, and I didn’t get it….
Jack Daniels is the prescription
gargle well with it before you swallow!
Experiment and see :)
Sadlyyes, I owe you an apology for yesterday. Forgive me for being so judgmental?
okey,my head, jaw, and eye socket are about to explode
Sure. Just don’t put too much water in it.
I wonder where that judge is and if he’s in Wynn’s pocket too.
Yes! Honey/Lemon/Scotch…whiskey…whatever you have…remember cough syrup is made up of alcohol. Licorice is good also.
I like your remedy better than mine … *g*
alls forgiven
sorry to hear that – no good home remedies, unfortunately, from this single guy – I guess I *could* call my mother, though.
In Indiana, we’ve been struck be the 1 1/2 week-long colds. Last week, literally, I called into some courts who said, upon hearing what was left of my voice – “don’t even think of coming in here!”.
I blame
global warming,Bill Clinton– BUSH!!She’d recognize ours!
I agree Good hearty home made chicken soup is clearly of the best cures for what ails you… I make it often even when not sick…. lots of fresh veggies + Herbs in it helps
He voted in the Senate for the Constitution today.
Thank you. I’m really sorry. Hard day, am going thru some personal stuff.
i wonder if it will exacerbate the attending headache,oh what the hell,i might just go soak my entire head
Nice thing about it is if it doesn’t help your cough, you don’t care. Actually, it was my grandmother’s remedy for me when I was a tiny thing.
My Puerto Rican friend swears by this to get rid of a fever:
Cut an onion in half….attach each half to the bottom of each foot…cut side against the foot. It draws out the heat, and the onion gets really hot…
Weird, but she swears it works.
I put a picture of us with our rescue, Lil Bit, in her stroller on FB. She has a bad back so I push her on our morning walk.
I’m glad I don’t have to choose between the two Republican fascists. McCain and Huckabee.
My granny made her own … um … medicine (or so grandpa told me)
i was 100% perfectly fine…TILL i went to the doctors office for sometin else
be careful peeps of pens, telephones, and peeps sneezing
I’m in Indiana and have one of those colds for 4 days now. Maybe it’s done tomorrow.
{{EG}} Better days ahead!
Good! How’s the little one doing?
For colds – a shot (or three) of something called “Rock and Rye”.
(in a previous life, female bartenders made all important decisions for me – that particular one worked).
At the moment in Virginia, Clinton has more votes than the top Republican. Obama has more votes than the top two Republicans combined.
Wash hands often, and don’t touch your face until you do.
I don’t think so. I hate the fact that my vote in the general election for president has been essentially meaningless for most of my life because I live in a “red” state, and I wouldn’t want to see more of that. You may get results quicker, but at the expense of less accurately reflecting the voice of the people.
no harm .no foul….id slit my wrists,if i couldnt share a few laughs here…specially on a day like today, what a dissappointment
A less smelly remedy is to cut a lemon/lime, rub the open end several times over both soles, 2- 3 times a day.
It draws the fever out, results usually with 15 – 30 minutes …
Awesome!
She’s a nut! The “bad back” hasn’t flared up since the one incident and I am not going to lock the little critter in her pen when she feels as good as she does. If we can figure out the constant paw chewing/licking we’ll be in business. I had her on my lap while I worked for 3 hours today. No, she is not spoiled!
Oh, she’s adorable! (I also mightily approve of her name — I used to have a miniature schnauzer who was too small to show named Little Bit. Only wonderful dogs have that name!)
they were good at it, too. When I was small they had none of the great things they have now. I can remember when sulphur was discovered and it was a wonder drug. Don’t think they even use it any more.
warm irish whiskey cures it all …
Thanks brook.
Probably not, my friend. I’ve noticed that I’d feel a little better, a little better, and then – boom, crap – feelin’ like heck again.
Lots and lots of water, Vitamin C, and echinaccea (sp almost certainly mangled).
mebbe if i can muster the energy to rise, ill put some ginger in canned chisoup
That is another good one!!
I also know that meditation/visualization if extremely effective. Sitting completely still for about 45 minutes and literally affirming to your body that it is leaving works. The body follows thought. (Yes, I know)…How’s the book coming?
This is nasty business. And I resent it.
HARRISBURG, Pa. – Gov. Ed Rendell, one of Hillary Rodham Clinton’s most visible supporters, said some white Pennsylvanians are likely to vote against her rival Barack Obama because he is black.
The exit polls from Virginia in the Potomac Primary aka Champaign after Chesapeake Tuesday are interesting from Kos:
African Americans 90O 10C
Whites 51C 48O
Women 58O 42C
The numbers of White Men went heavily to Obama.
Virginia is the 6th Highest state for college educated elegible voters; Maryland is the 5th highest state.
resourceful :)
Obama winning voters with incomes under $50? did they say that? and latinos?
as your attorney, I advise that you find a liquor store which delivers…

A view inside Hillarys campaign.

Good story. Raven was our wonderful little cocker that we lost in April. We were at a yard sale and a sweet little old lady asked what his name was. I said, “Well, his name is Raven but we call him Boo-boo but he’ll answer to stinky”. She said, “my vet told me that if a dog had more than one name he was truly loved”!
Yes, actually canned chicken soup has also proved to be very effective. Ginger, garlic, horseradish.
Powerful stuff.
eggselent idea!
Doesn’t chew through them?
Ahhhh…the good old dayz.
Would love ta see McBush lose another one to the Huckleberry.

Firepup Freedom Fighters:
I think that after today’s debacle in the Senate it is time ta listen ta the Norske and make war inside the Democratic Party on the Blue Dogs, corporatists and DLCers. We ken do this by organisin’ demonstrations and pressure points in the remainin’ primary and caucus states to make the war and Blue Dogs an issue for Mrs. Clinton and O’Lieberman. If we ken succeed in gettin’ the war back into the campaign right now, we ken force the issue because Ohio, Texas and Pennsylvania are gunna determine the course of history for the Dems and if the war becomes an issue and if enough folks are mobilized over it, we ken insure that the oligarchy doesn’t buy the Party in the backrooms of the convention. The only way we beat these bastards and get the Democratic Party back from the fascists and their toadies is to bring the pressure of the anti-war sentiment in the country from the street so no amount of Clinton larceny ken steal the results in Denver.
KEEP THE FAITH, IF DONNA EDWARDS LOSES WE MARCH ON THE FUCKERS!!!

No surprise here. But I’m glad it has been quantified.
Cool, you are great! :)
no use the thick bobby socks, and if it is an itch situation…i use tooth paste underneath the sock,it is an anti itch remedy
That triple name thing is true! I’ve got an old black cat who tore across the street when she was a kitten, marched up onto the porch where we lived then, and said “Hi. I’m your new kitten.” She’s known variously as Penumbra (she shadows people…), Penny or Sweet Pea. Two insulin shots a day and lots of snuggling and she’s one happy kitty.
im not,but they are!
We in this house are getting more intense in our support of Obama.
Buncha softies on the lake!
homa haiku’s
No.
There used to be a number of Dem “Winner take all” primaries which lead to the candidate getting 35% of the vote taking all the delegates. Proportional distribution is the only way to go. Fairness and all that.
Lahoma and I believe Norske to be one of the good guys.

Meditation is the most powerful self remedy … the only one that truly comes from within us …

Thank you.

Really? Toothpaste is anti-itch??? I’ve never heard that before. Any particular kind, or will any of them do? I’m fascinated…
McCain has pulled ahead in Virginia. :(
Damn straight.
We in this house are getting more intense in our support of Obama.
ditto, if ya just substitute “me” for “we”…
It’s a
majorityplurality of one…Well that fallacy has been shot down…
I love it when they pontificate… ;-)
My daughter swears toothpaste gets rid of zits too … no comment from here.
Raven. We think you are one of the good guys too.
Hey — puppy and kitty blogging! There’s nothing like it!

We in this house agree. We are trying not to get TOO excited, though…
Yee hah! I’m in luck because peppermint is what I buy. Thanks for the tip!
I can attest that it does work but I find that the paste works much better than the gel

I discovered the power of that meditation when I was sick about two years ago, I just sat like a statue, completely immobile and literally “willed” it to go, and dayem…it worked!
I’ve used EFT too, and it is effective for some things. I used it with the horses.
… cont’d
more for my meditation course than for my book though …
yes has to be the thick sludge like paste
Gotta try it, the poor thing really goes at it. She makes this squeaky noise that is disturbing. We have her on Dinovite but it says it takes 3 months to kick in.
home today recovering from bronchitis/sinusitis which is the aftereffects of a cold. Great seeing all the remedies here. I also made huge pot of chicken soup. My folk cure, Hot Garlic Lemonade: 2 tbsp fresh lemon or lime juice, 1 tbsp honey, 1 large clove garlic (minced), 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper, and an optional 1/2 tbsp grated raw ginger. Put in large mug, add 1 cup boiling water (or to taste).
Raven, lil bit is a cutie.
{{{ Petro }}}} good news about the first book! i’ll keep my fingers crossed.
For all those upper midwest folks out there, Biodun & i’d like to have a Minnesota Firepups meet-up. If you’re not on facebook, we’ll keep putting info in the threads

AND bf AND 3 dogs!
chalk up another “Red State” victory for Obama.
I mean, I’ve very happy to see that nearly half of the white voters in the Democratic primary voted for Obama (it shows a lot of progress among democrats and their supporters) …. but the fact remains that since 1952, the only time that Virginia voted for a Democratic president was in the Johnson landslide of 1964.
Biodun, don’t leave me hangin again!
Check out Petrocelli’s cool website.
If you have anything for a diabetic cat with skin problems who can’t take the steroid shot that used to work please let me know. Anything for itchy cats???
You might want to try channeling energy to them as well and see if it works … if you’re developed enough in your meditation ability, you already have this ability.
I do it all the time on unwell people …
This golden look soo young to be in this show.
My oh My, you guys all have the ‘crud’ too? It swept through my daughter’s family starting with the 6 yr old, and went up. Everyone here in my extended family either have it, are just getting over it, or showing signs of coming down with it.
I read here, blow nose, cough, drink fluids, read some more…

*mwaah* ((((( Loo Hoo )))))
ya know …ginger root is very anti inflamatory,i wonder if putting some in her food ,might break the itch cycle, cant hurt
I would like to come. I tried once before but couldn’t make it. I live in the neverland of Zimmerman. But keep posting info and will see if I can get there. Thanks for putting info in the thread so us non-facebook types can see it.
I’m a little surprised to hear Rendell say that. He’s always been “shoot from the hip” since his days as a cop, but I’m not sure what he’s basing that guess on. CW is that Clinton has had an entrenched organization in Penn–we’ll see.
You seen this stuff Dinovite
Dinovite
whats in it,do you know? a little olive oil in their food, gives them a VERY shinny coat
It’s often been said that Peppermint toothpaste helps an itch. Medically though the lit shows HC cream or benadry do better at controlling IgE mediated histamine release from mast cells and eosinophils, etc.
Tapered prednisone will do better than any of the home remedies at controlling itching fast.
Thanks for that tip! I’ll give it a try. I’ll bet she’d be pissed if I sprayed her! Here’s hoping it works for her…
Can’t do pred while she is on Rimadyl for her back.

150K buys a lot of robocalls. I got about 8 Al Wynn calls on Saturday and Sunday, about twice as many as Donna Edwards calls. All of which suggests Al was worried. I did not get this kind of attention from my representative last election.
If Dinovite is working well for you that’s good. We have a million dogs around here, and people are always coming up with remedies that work for them for itching.
In a person, I’d see Remadyl as just one more anti-inflamatory like the Motrin group and the 20 something other NSAIDS, (as many as there are teams in the NFL) and as long as they didn’t have an active ulcer, I wouldn’t hesitate to use it for intense itching–it’s a pretty safe glucocorticoid. Remadyl gets used by vets all the time as an ANSAID–it’s fairly expensive as well.
Prednisone worked well in my dog for itching the one time he got dermatitis from fleas until I got a quick handle on it using Advantix or if you prefer Frontline–pretty much the same although they both claim primacy.
The vet didn’t think of it, but I didn’t need a vet to figure out how to treat my dog. 99.9999999% of human medicines get on the market by being tested in dogs before they go through NDA’s to get to controlled hospital beds and then later to controlled patient trials in physician offices.
Whatever’s going on, I sure hope your dog(?) gets better.
say for something like intense itching from poison ivy tapered pred can
The Rimadyl is for the bulging disc that we discovered when she woke us up screaming in the middle of the night 2 week ago. The itch is weird, she really goes at it but she also will chew on rawhide and such for hours on end. The vet thinks allergies but I think it may be a combination. Like I said, if I hold her on my lap she falls asleep. Gamin me maybe?
Go, Donna! I’m pulling for you. We need more of the right kind of Democrats!
Itches can be tough to figure out in a dog; and they aren’t always that easy in humans. There are a lot of people with intense itching where no lesion can ever be seen and some dermatologists have spent their careers researching the inflamatory response–I know one of them.
I’m sure sorry about the bulging disk–I have a Basset and they have long backs and can have back pain not infrequently–a substantial amount may be due to disk disease.
Mine had pain several months ago that made it painful for him to walk and he stopped jumping (he likes to jump on walls all the time when we walk, and is good at it with those huge hips and shoulders. I used some Remadyl my neighbor gave me, although I had tons of Ansaids around of all types, and it seemed to help him. He got better before I could work him up, and I thought he had torn a back muscle or had a severe sprain. It could well have been disk impinging on nerve root–I hope it wasn’t. It hasn’t come back since–I hope it was a muscle sprain that got better.
I wish you the best of luck with yours.
same here. Somehow the letter took a month to get here.
