Update: Mike Henry of the Clinton campaign has now resigned.
MSNBC calls District of Columbia for Obama
Virginia pygmy race too close to call -- with 31% votes in, 1797 separate Huckabee and McCain
Virginia Democratic -- 26% votes in -- 62% Obama, 37% Clinton
Rumor had it that Al Wynn was not happy with voting being extended until 9:30 in Maryland.

DC for Obama, Too!
President Obama.
Representative Edwards!
Mr. Huckabee. Mr Bush. Mr. McCain. Mr. Cheney. Mr. Rove: the handwriting is on the wall. “President Obama”.
Whoa, Obama smoked Hill virtually across the board with the lone exception of Catholic voters…
Can you just IMAGINE a SOTU address from President Obama????!
and no longer being deeply embarrassed and wanting to hide after a speech in front of other nations! I CAN NOT WAIT!
Wow they called for DC already???
off to make dinners (my raw dinner and some meat product for my husband)
Nice ring to it. I, like you and Lahoma, will support the nominee and hope the ship of State is righted.
Looking at Olbermann with my girl and Swiss Miss. Lahoma is pleased. And so am I.
I’ve always been an Obama supporter. Always.
Wynn didn’t have much of a ground game, at least not in Montgomery county.
And media is just SWEARING Clinton will take Texas.
That does have a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?
lets not forget that Virginia is another “red state” victory for Obama — since 1952, the only time a demoratic presidential candidate won in VA was the 1964 Johnson landslide. Obama is racking up impressive numbers in “red states”, but for all intents and purposes, those victories won’t help him in the general election.
Maryland will be a real feather in his cap, however…
I don’t think Obama will need a Phonetic version… ;-)
Obama will trounce Rove and the rest.
What’s amazing is he’s winning VA in a lot of categories that CW claimed he couldn’t …
Looks like a shift in the race.
Then, Cellmates 43A & 43B …
I’m going to have to rely on you good people to keep me up to date with things political because the cats caucused and requested that we watch Westminster tonight. I’m allowed to look at politics during commercials, though…
Rumor had it that Al Wynn was not happy with voting being extended in Maryland…
heh-heh. I feel just awful for the guy - really I d… ok. I’m lyin’ again….
NOT BLOODY LIKELY! LOL! Wouldn’t that be just ASTOUNDING!???
and no more trying to figure out WTF he just said???!???
Tells me the Catholics may think she isn’t such an ardent fan of choice as i have long suspected with her fundraising for and support of folks like Senator Marx Pryor (anti choice Sen. D-AR)
Ok, done with supper here.
Got off the phone with one of the Party organizers. He’s saying that almost everyone he’s talked to in WI wants to hear Obama, in fact, people that had said they were not attending the fundraiser on Saturday ($100/head) changed their mind after Obama announced he would be attending.
Hillary, not so much of a draw.
Obama, they have to turn people away.
Look for the Obama sweep to continue next week as well.
I definitely think so.
I gave you hugs and kisses downstairs !
Don’t you understand the primary system? Of course a Democrat will always win a primary in every “red” state. The question is whether he will win in the General Election. That we don’t know yet.
The races are being called via exit polls, which are accumulated throughout the day. Obama’s results were just so huge they could call it immediately. Some actual results:
Virginia Primary 35% reporting
Obama 158,411 62%
Clinton 95,457 37% 7
McCain 68,289 46% (34% reporting)
Huckabee 67,063 46%
Paul 5,989 4%
Romney 4,468 3%
I’ll be caucusing for Obama on the 19th…!
55.9% precincts VA:
Barack Obama 197,145 63.72%
Hillary Clinton 109,165 35.28%
Wisconsin’s senior Democrat, David Obey, endorsed Obama after Edwards dropped out. Presumably, he has some heft in his home state.
tuna for them and some (dog) biscuits for the rest of ya.
I’m not so sure that the “red states” Obama is winning are certain wins for Republicans in the general. Look at the votes he is receiving in his primary compared to the total votes Republicans are bringing in. He’ll be competitive, at least, in states that haven’t been in the past. Make them spread what money they have and run up the score in bell weather states.
LOL
Virginia’s not really a red state anymore. It’s purple — with a Democratic governor and one Democratic Senator. Maybe another Democratic Senator, Mark Warner, this November as well.
Oh, my cats just fell in love with you!
okk and I like your your comments. We discuss them quite often.
L.
Oh yeah, Huckabee will be in Green Bay on Thursday too…like Matthews is talking about right now. There are enough wingers in this area to help him carry this state too.
Someone on MSNBC said the exit polls showed Obama pulling Rs away from McCain … not sure how reliable that is but it’s an interesting factor. For Rs who would vote McC as “maverick” - if McC can be properly slammed (Keating, Forever War) - there might be some openings.
Russert right now is saying Obama pulls which gives Huck a chance in VA.
I really like this Obama poster I saw today.
Pumpkinhead says that if McCain doesn’t win Virginia he can’t wrap up the nomination until May 6.
Go Huck!
Maybe I’m out of sorts but the only thing I can get excited about today is if Donna wins her primary.
The rest of it all . . . . . don’t care about the pres. race. Will vote for whomever gets the nod but I’ll have to hold my nose. And today’s senate cave in was just . . . I truly can’t find the words.
LOL Jane! Pygmy race….
*thumbs up*
But Democratic turnout has been quite high vis-a-vis the Republican primaries. So maybe these “red states” (and especially a State like Virginia…which is consistently electing Democrats due to changing Demographics) might actually fall in the Democratic column. Until Dean implemented the 50 State strategy, successful in 2006, these States were considered useless to compete within, giving them their solid red results. No Democratic money or candidate support was provided. Presidential candidates conceded the State without even an effort.
“Independent” voters - in red states, are trending, and voting for Obama about 2 to 1. Predictive - interesting to say the least.
Definitive - probably can’t be called that yet.
Our cats are somewhat conservative. It is a source of irritation. ;0)
Obey’s district is very safe. His biggest threat in the last election was from the Green Party’s candidate.
Like I said above, Hillary is bleeding support in WI. One of the Superdelegates I was watching as an indicator of Russ’ support declared for Obama. I still am certain Russ will stay on the sideline until at least after the primary here.
We’re an open primary here with same day registration. Watch the numbers of voters set records.
My wife actually registered as a Democrat just so she could vote for Obama in our “beauty-contest-means-nothing” primary.
I was impressed.
Heh!!!
Enough men talking heads on MSNBC—oh them and Noron.
How about some credible women?? Rachel where are you?? and certainly she’s not the only one out there.
Enough.
Apart from Hucksters apparent policies…I like his sense of humor.
That’s where I am. I lost my enthusiam when Edwards dropped out, and I found myself looking at the corporate candidates. I’m still hoping to see something that inspires me.
Is there any news on her race?
Love the poster! Spit my apple cider out, thank you. ;-)
Republican
REPORTING: 44%
McCain, John 88,713 47%
Huckabee, Mike 85,626 45%

Jane:
Check your inbox…(I know you’re busy. Frankly I’m surprised you got back to me that quickly…)
You’re just cracking me up.
Thanks for the laughs.
You heard it here first, I predict a 48 state blowout for Obama in the Electoral College… The two dissenting states will be Idaho and Wyoming… *g*
Republican cats? I’ll not publish my feelings about same…
(Ok, I can’t resist - I tend to think that *all* cats are Republican).
(ed note - don’t shoot - dog lover here)
polls staying open until 9:30 because of the weather
>>Obama’s share of black voters approached 90 percent.< <

Could this be considered a sort of reverse racism? I understand the appeal of a path-breaking black candidate for black voters; Jewish and Asian voters have previously favored their own kind, but when the numbers get as lopsided as 80-90% it tilts dangerously into race-based voting…I think. Wouldn’t the reverse be considered racism? I.e, If a black and white candidate, both equally competent, were running for office and 80-90% of white voters broke for the white candidate.
>>He and Clinton split the white vote. She led among white women, but he was preferred by a majority of white men.< <

And I would argue that this points to sexism among white males in VA. That they are willing to preferably break with racism rather than vote for a woman. The silver lining being we now know how to overcome white (male) racism. :-)
I suppose that white women could also be accused of sexism in this case (or is it racist-sexism because black women are not breaking towards the woman candidate); however, they are not breaking overwhelmingly (>80-90%) for the woman candidate although, understandably, they show a preference to their gender in this path-breaking candidacy.
oh thanks!
MSNBC projects McCain as winner in Virginia
SueN, Could it be that many, many more voters are excited about Obama.
Marion - My dogs voted with your cats. I would be in trouble if I didn’t watch The Garden as I have a few friends in the groups tonight and will be required to comment later. Particularily the friend currently in the sporting group who left her dog here yesterday to stay with me till she returns tomorrow. I went to the weekend specialties(even won a bit)and a party Sunday night but am happy to watch from home. Too crowded to enjoy. I appreciate getting the political results here at the same time.
Anybody remember 40 years ago today (Sgt. Pepper taught the band to play …) and going to RFK speeches and looking forward so much to having him in the White House? Then driving back across the country and hearing the news? And MLK. Those were blows to the gut.
That makes me laugh since we Mainahs went to the polls during blizzard-like conditions this past Sunday. But hey! I’d rather everyone get a chance to vote and if the pollsters want to keep them open longer, so be it. ;-)
RevDeb
I keep hearing about the Evangelical vote.
And, I Do know the exigesis of the word, but you can understand why I have this innate negative reaction to the word?
I’m still working on accepting the true meaning of the word.
:)
PS I think you really do care about the Presidential Race. *g*
Our Siamese is a Royalist and mourns the lack of a royal family. She may be tending toward Clinton… (I told her if she declared for McBush she’d never see catnip again.) The black cat, being diabetic, supported Edwards because of his health care plan. Now she supports Obama. She’s a sensible animal.
MSNBC says Mike Henry, “#2 on the Clinton team”, has resigned. How stupid do you have to be to announce this stuff when everyone is watching?
I would like to point out that the white woman vote may be split in favor of Hill, but, that begs the question of the General election, I seriously don’t foresee that vote being thrown to McCain if Obama is the nominee…!
Saw the smooch.
I do remember, though I was a kid. Shocking and incomprehensible it was to me then. Still. So much was lost.
A sobering thought, lest anyone get too excited:
is that the sound of an implosion?
I can’t even imagine what that felt like, but then again, I was only 11 days old when it happened. ;-)
the black cat, being diabetic, supported Edwards because of his health care plan. Now she supports Obama. She’s a sensible animal.
Do NOT let that black cat out of the house!! There *is* that whole cat-conspiracy thing goin’ on, ya know….
Are they supposed to beat each other with their canes? :)
Uh oh.
The first ones to notice…
Thanks! I love your comments too.
you have mail too
That’s cute.
kiddo and I absolutely love cats. Especially Siamese.
L.
I support the president because he protects the children from Osama.
I was in the field in Korea when King was killed and on my way to Nam when RFK died.
I remember, I think, Dick Van Dyke or somebody describing the difference between cats and dogs in relation to Thanksgiving dinner….If a dog gets into the kitchen unattended (you know who you are doggies) and steals the Turkey…it slinks and cowers out of guilt…the cat, on the otherhand, steals the turkey, looks at you right in the eye and licks its lips….no remorse!!
Marion …ask your vet about putting some organic cinnamon in her food…regulates sugar
Bobby’s assassination (when I was 22) was when I realized, really realized, that I was mortal too… Film clips of his speeches still make me cry.
the only thing I care about is the Supreme Court. That is why I will show up to vote. period.
As for the “Evangelical vote” I don’t think such a thing exists. As I explained yesterday somewhere, there is a difference between evangelicals and fundamentalists. The fundies are crazy—whether they are Christian, Jewish, Muslim, or Atheist. Any fundamentalism is hard wired and cannot see beyond cast in concrete doctrine. Not healthy. Evangelicals are not necessarily fundies. There are a lot of Evangelicals who are pro-environment, pro-immigration, pro-human rights. And any combination of the three and more. They are not an amorphous group.
sitting in a packed kohl center waiting for obama …in Madison
wow the crowd…
HA!
It is Obama fever though, huh? If he chooses an administration as competent as his campaign crew, I’ll be delighted.
I want David Shuster back.
that’s an encouraging sign, of course. but we mustn’t forget that McCain has been all but declared the official winner in the GOP (depressing turnout among republicans.) And as of right now, it looks like there will be about 800,000 voters in the Democratic primary — which is great, but when you remember that 3.2 million Virginians voted in the 2004 presidential election, 800,000 votes in the Democratic primary looks far less significant.
It’s all about the club in the senate. They just flushed our freedoms down the toilet and then had a nice hug. Feh.
It will be interesting to see them in debate which is neither of their fortés.
i’ve been fantasizing about that one myself!
WHAT IF there were a competent intelligent cabinet???!???
RESPECTED people, with RECORDS OF ACHIEVEMENT and who CARE ABOUT LIFE IN GENERAL????!!!!
I want David Shuster back.
What - you a truth-freak or somethin’?
I’ve spent my life in service to cats… You know what they say — dogs have owners, cats have staff!
Our cats are definitly conservative. But I don’t view them as neo-cons.
“Club Senate”. HA! i LOVE it!
I’ll pay attention when they announce that Mark Penn is out.
Well, okay, then.
I agree about the fundamentalists. Totally. I get it. Seen it. Believe it.
And, I do understand that Evangelicals are not an amorphous group.
I’m really on your side.
You can’t tell?
actually, its smart to get this “bad news” out in this cycle, instead of later, when that is what people would be talking about.
Stopped at the Dollar Store on my way home tonight. Louis Freeh’s book was there. So was John Ashcroft’s.
huh? I know I’m just a vegan tree hugger but how does a cordial conversation equate to a ‘nice hug’?
I’ll go get some more pineapple/cucumber gazpacho and await your response.
not neo-cats?
Neocats.
I am understanding (from Olbermann) that Sen. Clinton will be making a speech to her supporters in Texas in a bit. Don’t have a clue as to the content.
MSNBC says Mike Henry, “#2 on the Clinton team”
Is that like being the #3 in al-Qaeda?
Thanks for another great tip! I’ll do that. However, if she doesn’t know about that do you know how much and how often? She’s about 11 or 12 pounds of purr.
Jane…that loud and uncalled for and unwanted IPOD ad (I’ve gotten it twice) is irritating beyond belief…I nearly jumped out of my skin when it came on….PLEASE…don’t force it on your commentators and supporters!
Thanks…love your site otherwise…Carl
“Is America ready for a President with a brain?”
I laughed, then remembered that Hillary has a brain, too. A really snazzy one. The problem is what she’s wasted it on — IMHO of course. “Nice Porsche. Why are you using it to haul septic tanks?”
So I’m not buying the poster.
So what do you call your act?
The neocats.
His book is almost Freeh.
-G
Or they could go in the recycle bin.
getting their claws out? ;-)
[ducks]
snicker
When you’re done eating, please tell us that recipe for pineapple/cucumber gazpacho …
Thanks in advance !
Looks like C-SPAN2 will be covering Senator Cliton’s speech, by the way.
To those who responded to my comment, thanks. That’s why I worry about a candidate who might win by more than a tweakable margin and who (I hope fervently) has not been bought by Those-Who-Always-Hold-the-Cards. Pray hard, friends.
Lahoma and I are fundamentalists. We are fundamentially progressive and Democratic.
I’m neither so it is mostly lost on me. Not even taking sides except to cheer on folks on their journey toward tolerance and acceptance of the other. I’ve just spent a lot of time over the years explaining the dif. to those who confuse the two. Yes, you were the one I think who saw Moyers the other night.
But did you get your free Iphone?
That’s the ouster I’m eagerly awaiting…!
It’s like being the drummer for Spinal Tap.
Poof.
-G
My cats say they’d rather be put down than vote for a republican.
Animals, especially cats, to republicans, are just things to be used or exploited. Kitties are companions to be loved to most Democrats.
So are you Fundamental Bumpkins?
-G
Every time I hear the experience bell rung in this primary by someone on TV or in personal conversation, I smile because I’m trying to figure out the visceral reaction to experience.
It gets trotted out so much, and if you are spinning for Hillary, like Lisa Caputo or Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, the emails have gone out every day to be sure to tout the experience card, and don’t get off the air without saying “ready from Day One” I think until people just blindly soak it up like a mantra.
“Experience and Ready from Day One.”
And the minute I hear that I smile. I think experience at doing what more than Obama has? I want to hear them start enumerating what that experience is, but they never ever do.
These two candidates have 4 years in the Senate for Obama versus 7 years for Clinton.
Both of them have worked for many different causes and contributed very positively and constructively, but to me doing that type of work has been a draw.
I simply can’t see Tom Glavine versus a rookie pitcher out of college, although I’m sure that’s what the Clinton people want me to see.
That sounds delicious! Is it what it sounds like, pineapple, cucumber, avocado and seasonings? You’ve got me drooling here!
well, someone obviously owes someone else a Coke (or Pepsi)
I’ve never quite figured out how that deal works….
Ouch! ;0)
Lahoma and I like your stuff.
OT, sorry, but for all those upper midwest folks out there, Biodun & i’d like to have a Minnesota Firepups meet-up. If you’re not on facebook, we’ll keep putting info in the threads.
Biodun, i think i’ve designated myself social secretary of the mnPups *g*
Raven,
You had a question in the last thread about what to do for a dog who always chewed on her paws.
My dog did that, and I rubbed Badger Healing Balm on them. It took about 4 days, and she doesn’t do it anymore. You can get it at Advanced Auto stores, Cracker Barrel and online.
see 74 quoted from Talk Left. Just reporting someone else’s observation.
tell them (again) at letters@msnbc.com
I have never known what that means either. In an attempt to remain cool I never asked.
Channeling Punaise, are we??!!!
The time is arriving to unite. We think.
And where exactly is punaise?
FDLers Untie! oh wait..
Thanks!
Don’t count Virginia out in the general. We have been trending strongly blue for several years now, largely because Northern Virginia is now (depending on how you count it) up to a third of the population of the state, and growing. Plus, the Virginia Republican Party is riven with infighting over who is “conservative enough.” Yeah, a Democrat hasn’t won VA since Johnson, but with the direction things have been going, that’s going to change sometime, and it could be now.
Is it my imagination, or is MSNBC already leaving tonight’s votes behind (ceding to Obama) and moving on to freakin’ Texas?
Hi! Please let me know! I am on Facebook, but never look at it. Please email me at kfaricy at comcast dot net.
Thanks!
Here’s what Hillary said in an interview yesterday about McCain:
which simply supports his good ole maverick status
Also not Bill Clinton’s comments this weekend in Maine where he praised McCain, said Hillary and McC were great friends, travelled together and would have very civil debates in the GE.
sigh
I found the Virginia state elections this past November to be very encouraging. We are getting people in the habit of voting for a Democrat, the Webb victory especially sweet. The state’s 13 electoral votes could very well go to the Dem.
Lahoma advises me we are seeing the next president. A Democrat.
oooh, a moment of Rachel kickin’ Pat Buchanan right where his balls used to be - that was good….
I’m definitely not a fundamentalist. Liberal Methodist.
I try to be a witness for what I believe By endeavoring to act in a manner that reflects what I believe. Mostly in the way I interact with folks. Rather than preaching to people, I try to act out what I believe. It’s not always easy and I’ll probably not always see where I am successful.
But, it’s the path I’ve chosen and what I strive for.
recipe?
The thing about that is though, Sue, you have to know why each voter is voting for the candidate they vote for–and I’m not suggesting that’s easy to find out or that exit polls drill down enough to get accurate answers. I think sometimes we assume that say Hispanics are voting as a block, and Hispanic politicians I know in the state legislature say that’s just not going to happen. I know Clinton advertised heavily on the Hispanic stations so maybe it will pay off for her.
I talked to a lot of African Americans today, and they were evenly split–obviously not a scientific poll, but they each had their own reasons for going for Obama or Clinton.
How do you analyze the heavy white man vote for Obama in the three states today–versus the white vote in some states like South Carolina that Buchanan says won’t go for him.
Buchanan is suggesting that Clinton’s unfavorables are going to be huge with many white males in the general and are now in the primary. I don’t pretend to know accurately how this breaks down.
Hello marymccurnin in Rancho.
L.
I was shopping today, and was in the book isle when a woman somewhat older than I picked up “Audacity of Hope” and said to me I love Obama, Im Republican, always have been but Im voting Obama and went off with her book. Made my day.
Especially with Mark Warner downticket from the preznichal candidate.
When 2 people say the exact same thing at the exact same time one yells ‘owe me a coke’.
Worried about not being cool? Well, I guess it’s confession time. I don’t know how to play ‘rock, paper, scissors’.
You either learn these things when your 6 or you spend a lifetime catching up.
You’ve made me smile one smile that ran around my face two times…
Lord I love it when Lahoma is pleased.
Tom Brokaw sez Obama needs to “expand his circle of advisers and get more specific.” I wonder if Tom’s looked at Obama’s website for that specificity.
The “expanding circle of advisers” worries me, though.
Hillary live in El Paso, TX on MSNBC
Hello L!
that was for #138 Lahoma.
Hello Teddy, too.
That’s not how we did it…
You say something at the exact same time as someone else, you both say “Jinx!” and you have to shake hands using your pinkie fingers.
And that’s the truth. phllbt.;0)
Yes, that is going to be huge. Especially if ex-Gov. Gilmore is his opponent, and the Senate race is a reminder of how well the Dems have run the state and how badly the GOP has. (Gilmore left office not at all popular.)
I have lots of Methodist friends and lots more ex-Methodists in my congregation. Though the highest number of ex-es are ex-Catholics. Anyway I know where you’re coming from. I guess I get a bit defensive around here because we do have our share of anti-religion fundamentalists on the threads. I keep hoping for a little more tolerance and a little less dogma.
I agree everyone has their own journey in life no matter what it is. I just don’t like it when people say their journey is the only correct one… tolerance of others is an important lesson in life to learn, some learn young and some never learn.. what a shame.
I hear ya .
There are lots of different kinds of Methodists. ‘Cause of how our basic tenets lay out. Agreement on the general principals, and treating all else with Tolerance.
There are a lot of M. Churches who would prefer to pull away from the General Conference because it’s too liberal.
And, then there’s other churches who are Way Liberal.
One of my best friends at church alternates Sundays between the Meth. Church and the Unitarian one in the same neighborhood.
We’re on the Missions Team together. I love her. Except for the dog she encouraged me to adopt. He can be a love, but most of the time, he’s really testing me.
Decided to play Hillary advisor and look at where she did well in those Virginia exit polls. One glimmer of hope for her is that she took 59% of Western Virginia (losing the North 65-35%; the SW 69-30%; and East 62-38% though). Attention Christy! Could that mean that West Virginia might go to Hillary?
Hillary also took more Older White Voters. Marginally she won the 45-59 yrs cohort (=53%); but above 60 years she pulled in 61%. Obama won all the categories under 45 though. Hillary drew more White females (55%) but Obama more White Males (55%). Obama and Clinton actually split the White votes 50%-50%. Obama received 92% of Black males and 84% of Black females.
There seems to be some truth that Hillary would have done better if this was a closed primary. She actually won 58% of the White Democratic Voters (40% total)…but Obama pulled in 64% of the White Independents (16% of the total voters) and 88% of Black Democrats and Black Independents (29% of the voters). About 15% of the voters were Republicans, almost all white (71% voting for Obama!). However, even if you took out all the Independent and Republicans, Obama would have won 59% to 41%.
Interestingly, the small Latino voting cohort (only 5% of the total) went for Obama 55% to 45% (Clinton).
Hillary split the “late deciders”. And actually had a slight edge in those that decided within the last three days (54%). But those who had made up their minds awhile back supported Obama 64-36%.
Obama did better in Urban areas (66%) but won elsewhere as well (Suburbs and Rural 60%). He outpolled Hillary in all socio-economic categories, marerieds, unmarrieds, all ideological categories, all issues (Economy and Healthcare by @60%, Iraq by 66%)
Someone said earlier that Hillary won Catholics. Actually Obama did…but Hillary did win Catholic women, though barely.
About 7% of the participants were 1st time voters…71% of those went for Obama. Of those that voted in Primaries and Generals Obama won 60%, and Generals alone 63%.
I think it’s going to be about how she is going to vote against Telcomm immunity!
This is served best chilled (as any gazpacho) Oh and pineapple sweetness will vary, so you will have to adjust the amount of jalapeno and salt to your liking. Also this is a raw food recipe hence the raw macadamia nuts but you can always leave them out or use roasted.
4 c. chopped peeled cucumber (about 1 large English cucumber or a few of the regulars)
4 c. chopped pineapple (from 1 large or 2 small pineapples)
1 c. fresh pineapple juice (if you don’t want to bother add an extra 1 cup pineapple)
1 small jalapeno pepper, seeded and diced
1 green onion, white and 1 inch of green, chopped
1 Tbsp lime juice
2 tsp salt
1 handful cilantro leaves, plus a few for garnish
3 Tbsp avocado oil, macadamia oil or cold pressed virgin olive oil
1 handful finely chopped raw macadamia nuts
In a blender, add 3 cups each of the cucumber and pineapple, the pineapple juice (or the additional cup of pineapple as substitute), jalapeno (start with a little), green onion, lime juice and salt. Blend until smooth. Add remaining 1 c pineapple and 1 c cucumber, the cilantro, and 1 1/2 Tbsp oil. Pulse the blender quickly a few times — it should remain chunky. Taste for seasoning. If time allows, place soup in the fridge to chill.
Before serving, add the macadamia nuts to the gazpacho and stir to distribute them evenly. Divide among bowls and drizzle the remaining 1 1/2 Tbsp oil. Add a little cilantro for garnish.

Great! I love it. MN FDLers can’t let TX- and NYC-FDLers have all the fun!
Hey don’t forget the Bearcreek FDLers here in California we are meeting 3-2-08!! Suz would be disappointed in you Biodun :>)
We don’t know that. Obama may swing some border states if he can hold the Dem white vote and increase Black turnout. The exceptional Dem turnouts and my sense at least that people are feeling temporarily empowered changes the calculus. It is what’s doing in Clinton’s campaign. They didn’t sense the sea-change. In the near future Obama’s problem is to not peak too soon. He seems to have the savvy to handle it.
