Though he’ll have to pull a Falwell to appease the angry wingnut mouthpieces and flat-earthers that comprise the GOP’s lunatic base, those bunch of crooks that gave you the past 8 years is firmly behind St. McCain.
WALLACE: Is John McCain a true conservative?
PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH: Absolutely. I know him well. I know his convictions. I know the principles that drive him and no doubt in my mind he is a true conservative…Look, he is very strong on national defense. He is tough fiscally. He believes the tax cuts ought to be permanent. He is pro-life. His principles are sound and solid as far as I’m concerned.
Jeb:
Jeb Bush endorsed McCain, saying in a statement, "John McCain is a patriot and devoted conservative leader. Like no other candidate in the field, John McCain has made tremendous sacrifices for this nation. He is beholden to no interest other than that of the public good. He is determined and steadfast in his commitment to reducing the burden of high taxes, restoring the people’s trust in their government, and winning the war against radical Islamic extremists. It is with pride that I announce my endorsement of John McCain for president."
Karl:
Former top Bush adviser Karl Rove recently sent McCain a $2,300 check…McCain said he would welcome Rove’s counsel as he tries to wrap up the GOP nomination and take on the Democrats. "Nobody denies that he’s one of the smartest political minds in America," the senator said. "I’d be happy to get his advice."
If you want another 4 years of Bush, St. McCain’s your man.
UPDATE
Arianna has more on St. McCain here.

And yet another wonderful McBush photo. Thanx, BT.
FISA,
Bond and Whitehouse agree on first amendment regarding minimization.
Albatross, meet neck.
This could be the kiss of death for Crazy Train.
Did he have to get down one one knee and kiss Stupies ring in fealty?
What was Whitehouse’s amendment? Does anybody here know?
He did that in 2004.

George, Jeb, and KKKarl – the Republican Bordello.
*laughs heartily* And why would anyone believe a word those three slugs had to say?
roll-call
Let’s not forget all those great pix of McBush/Huckleberry either, in their stylin’ vests. St. John/Lindsey ‘08? Warmonger blue plate special:

Liarman is with the Repugs right out of the gate.
Obama is in the Senate.
Where is Hillary?
Mr. Obama -aye
good, i’m glad he’s there
Jeb Bush as vp to McCain. What a nightmare and maybe a likely scenario. What are some of the names being floated as vp? Anyone know?
NO more Bush. Isn’t the endorsement of Bush a kiss of death?
Whitehouse amendment was to Rockefeller-Bond substitute #3911, to provide procedures for compliance reviews (#3920).
(Mr. ReddHedd and The Peanut are both home sick today, so I’m quasi-following along and taking care of them at the same time…)
FYI, Feinstein’s is: amendment to Rockefeller-Bond substitute #3911, to provide a statement of the exclusive means by which electronic surveillance and interception of certain communications may be conducted (#3910) — and it requires a 60 vote threshold per the UC agreement.
Yes.
Simple answers…
Load all three of em up on a plane. Send em to the middle east to fight the terrists, and bring all the rest of our troops home that same day.
When our 3 American “hero’s” have made all the terrists are dead, and they have Bin Laden in a cage, then let ‘em come home.
George, John, and Karl – terrist fighter’s club
The hubrius of the moment. The entire landscape of the election has adopted the ‘we really need to change’ message. To assume that a Bush endorsement wouldn’t is basically providing pure ammunition for the Democrates in the primary.
Only hubrius gets you there.
Snowe and Collins, both “Aye”.
That’s a surprise.
Good morning Blue Texan
McBush’s problems go far beyond the fundies. The third coworker in a week has shared that he will vote for whomever the Dems have on the ticket in November. For all three it is the war and healthcare. He also asked if he could vote for Obama in the Texas primary. As he is a life long repub I am surprised but pleased. We have been hearing this alot down here.
does McCain live in some kind of alternate universe where water is wet and fire is cold/
rove has proven to be a moron, he is responsible for the biggest political failure and embarrassment in the history of American politics
what kind of fool thinks he can get away with that statement?
Come on, don’t you realize her personal ambitions of becoming President are more important than any constitutional duties of being a Senator?
P.S. I said the same thing about Obama when he missed the Kyl-Leiberman vote.
Since my congressman won’t answer, I thought I would ask here, Why do all HDTVs come with a tuner now, insead of the orginal way were some were HD-Ready meaning you needed a cable box or a dish box, which most people have and a few were HDTVs with a tuner for those without cable or dish? It costs more to have the tuner in the TV and I don’t need it, since I have cable. My congressman is Dave Weldon (R-FL)Medical Doctor who voted against expanding S-Chip and is retireing at the end of his term. Yea!
FYI, they are now voting on the Feingold amendment.
And Sununu and Hagel.
Not to mention that Rove was behind the smear campaign about McCain’s wife and child in 2000.
Specter and Craig Aye on Feinstein amendment
“PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH: Absolutely. I know him well. I know his convictions. I know the principles that drive him and no doubt in my mind he is a true conservative.”
Ahhh, the kiss of death. For we know every thing Bush touches turns to utter and complete Ruin!
Yesterday, there was this comment, which claims that:
I’m trying to verify that claim. Unfortunately the link associated with the comment doesn’t work for me, and my attempts at googling up verification have failed. Does anyone know whether or not this comment is correct and/or how to verify it? Thanks.
amendmen withdrawn
Hard not to enjoy this little item.
From TP:
High Schooler Spars w/Rove over Gay Marriage
57 votes for Feinstein’s amendment — withdrawn to potentially pop back up again later.
Tester presiding = come to order take conversations outside please
more cr*p from Jonah:
Jonah Goldberg: Obama can win blacks and he can win whites; he just can’t win blacks and whites.
I wrote the LAT (not for printing) and asked why he’s still writing for them, because this is arrant nonsense.
That’s not true. I heard the entire interview.
Obama said that violence was down, but a reduction in violence wasn’t the goal of the surge.
My guess is that it’s because all TVs need to be digital by IIRC, sometime in 2009. The networks will no longer be broadcasting analog so even those few folks without cable or dish, will need digital capability. Supposedly, for those folks not into buying new digital TVs, there is a fund to allow for help in purchasing converter boxes.
Thanks for the clarification. It sounded wrong to me.
I’ve heard Jeb’s name come up in the MSM every day for the last four days in one way or another…they are softening us up…but, when someone was asked about Jeb for VP, they said he’s “not available” right now…whatever that means. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they just try to cram the whole Bushco regime down our throats again..with no shame.
McBush (I will not use McCain again, unless it’s to explain McBush) was the only chance for the GOP to take the whitehouse. Now they’ve got him. Badness. He’s got a reputation amongst the political center that he does not deserve and it’s going to be tough to overcome that. Plus, the idea of “losing” thie Iraq vietnam doesn’t sit well with lots of folks (Can’t they see we never had anything to win?)and he keeps talking victory.
We need to make sure that McBush runs on his record. And Bush’s record. That’s the best way to beat him.
Boxturtle (Goooooo Obama!)
I’m listening, but can’t hear the votes – is Clinton in the Senate today?
Does this mean that I won’t be able to plug the cable from the wall directly to the TeeVee anymore?
Oh, Mr. McCain, please ask Jeb to be your VP. Please, please, please!
Carmen asked about Rethug veep names. The one I’ve heard most often is Minn. Governor Tim Pawlenty. He’s been cosy with McCain for some time now. And the site selection of the Twin Cities was rumored to be all about assuring Pawlenty on the ticket and Minnesota in the Rethug column on election day.
Until the trip was scrubbed for McCain’s CPAC appearance, Pawlenty–and Lieberliar–were heading to Munich with McCain for a security conference.
Prairie Today: Greed’s Gravy Train
No! Goddamnit!
I saw McCain on the news this morning and he said Democrat Party instead of Democratic Party. Sound familiar? People are fooling themselves if they think a McCain presidency won’t be a continuation of Bush.
For cable people there will be no effect. Only for the free antenna people.
Not after next February, unless you have an HD tuner in the TV.
Didn’t hear a Clinton vote announced – so I guess that answers my question.
Comment withdrawn due to my own idiocy.
Wigwam @ 32, That comment was totally taken out of context. He said that the incresed troops had lowered the violence but that the Iraqi government was not doing what was required of them. The interview should be onling but that’s what I remember.
Find out here
Hillary is in El Paso, today I believe.
Damn, why doesn’t she realize there is no more important place to be than in the well voting on these amendments??
Thanks. Obama has been pretty consistent on that point.
leiberman – no
Dodd’s amendment to remove immunity is next up for vote!
Good morning Firepups and of Blue Texan. Just getting to my first cup of the West coasts Peet’s coffee…. mmmmm good..
to imagine how many blowjobs are being done on how many by so few, on both sides of the aisle
makes you proud to be whatever it is we are?
or what we have become?
Dam her this is more important than any campaign stop …
WOW! After THOSE endorsements I guess we can invoke the three strikes an yer OUT rule huh?
From the world-wide innernet
For what it is worth the ReligonLaw listserv for legal academics has spent the worse part of a month embroiled in a fight about this. Marty Lederman suggests that the “Democrat Party” term was pushed partly because it sounds more grating and partly because of McCarthy’s original idea to deny the Democrats the positive associations (democracy) that come with “Democratic” as opposed to “Democrat”.
Was 3920 (Whitehouse) voted on?
http://www.woub.org/tv/index.p…..8;page=153
here is a link from my local pbs station about digital television.
and there is a site being advertised called http://www.dtvanswers.com, i think……..
Something’s seriously wrong with a movement that has to spend time debating who is ‘true’.
Just called Blue Dog Salazar’s office – he “Hasn’t made up his mind” how he will vote on this issue. Staffer gave me the runaround on why he won’t oppose it. At least I was born in CT, so I can claim a little bit of Dodd.
FU BOnd… you guys just want to give these pric*s a free get out of jail pass
From GlennZilla’s post today:
When Bill Frist was running the Senate and Pat Roberts was in charge of the Intelligence Committee, Bush and Cheney couldn’t get this done (the same FISA and amnesty bill that the Senate will pass today stalled in the 2006 Senate). They had to wait until the Senate belonged (nominally) to Harry Reid and, more importantly, Jay Rockefeller was installed as Committee Chairman, and then — and only then — were they able to push the Senate to bequeath to them and their lawbreaking allies full-scale protection from investigation and immunity from the consequences of their lawbreaking.
To think that all the hard work to win back control of congress and the Senate was a big farce. We need a new progressive party.
Rockerfella is a shit head…. he needs to be defeated next time around he is not providing us the protection we deserve….
Unfortunately the telecom money goes pretty far into all their pockets.
a good time to listen to Feingold again.
I hope Democratic activists, pundits and talking heads will begin referring to Republicans as Repubs. They will get the point pretty quickly. The Repub Senator. Teh Repub Party. What is the phrase Jane uses: Pivot and attack.
OT Irish Jim
Are you in Iowa? Rove speaks for $40000 next Sunday in Iowa City.
Just to be clear there was a law that mandated HDTVs with tuner, and outlawed HDTVs without tuners, does anyone remember when or why this happened? (about 2 years ago)
Yes. I read that. I am still trying to find out if any of my state tax dollars are being used for this. It says that he is being paid out of the F. Wendell Miller fund. So, I imagine it is funded out of an endowment?? I cannot believe one of my state universities would find any value in having Rove speak. Pathetic that we are lining his pockets. Any ideas on what to do??
I posted it at Bleeding Heartland and was hoping for a response from Evil Dr.Puma who teaches there. I am in West Union so am 2 hours away. I’ll check into the funding. email me @amyfencl@msn.com
Four More Years!
Talked with Tom Noe
No public funding, gave the false equivalency of him taking tha same calls when Bill Clinton spoke, told him it was a false that one was an unindicted co-conspirator and in contempt of Congess…He blew me off…I am pissed…lets do something
I have a feeling that they agreed to JEB for VP… can you imagine that? Jeb did endorse over the weekend. You know Jeb was an original signer of PNAC? Does that scare you?
“The house of Bush and Rove”
I tried buying the latest fashions from them, but they only seemed to have orange jumpsuits, and these weird pointy burlap hoodies.
I guess orange is the new black.
