Hi, Siun!
That the pundits will never STFU?
Hi Siun!
Obama up on MSNBC, now…
It’s a movement, and it’s a landslide.
Obama may not be the only politician with a sweep tonight!
“We are tired of being disappointed by our politics…”
Hi Siun!
All that matters is the delegate dispersal. We shall see…
LOL
I suspect that the Obama % in La should go up..53% seems a little low.
Isn’t that the bleeping truth!
Let’s just hope they count it that way.
Obama up on CNN addressing Virginia Democrats. What do tonight’s results mean about the race? Maybe that the rank and file voter is sick and tired of being told who their nominee is. Maybe that hope trumps experience this time. Maybe none of us know yet…
I wrote some time back that the trajectory of Obama is up and Hill’s is down. The longer this goes on the higher he goes and the lower she goes.
By Convention time it looks like Hill will have to take VP for the sake of party unity.
Obama wins Virgin Islands with “nearly 90 percent” of the vote.

I’m with your thoughts about the trends SanderO, but I really cannot see her taking the VP.
Ron - Thank you! I’ll add into next update!
Do you see that happening? I don’t mean that snarkily. I just don’te see her doing that. Him, yes. Her, no.
Just looked at the Thug results. Huckster could sweep all three races..Holy shit..confusion to our enemies.
We don’t want saddened Hill advocates to stay home and we need to get them and the full support of the ticket.
Obi just said he wants unity. Good on him.
I think that Obama is going to continue to sweep states and the Clintons are now realizing this, and trying to figure out how they can steal it after June by grabbing Super Delegates.
Obama swept the primary in Washington and the caucuses in Nebraska, Washington State, and the Island where the Virgins are tonight.
He will continue to sweep Clinton out of the way.
Yes Maam. The ball of snakes the Republican cause looks like right now, compared to what we are seeing today spells BAAAD news fewr them bastards come November.
America is standing up. Pukes need to get the hell outta the way…We the People are not going to take this anymore.
Bushco better start packing, because if they think they can stick around…well…I don’t think so, no matter how crazy it gets. The people are throwing the bums out….and it’s a whole lot of people…
Huckster could sweep all three races
I’m grinning ear to ear. :D
I can’t imagine she would really want the VP spot, but who would NOT take it if offered?
Especially this year?
If they steal it the democratic party will splinter and that is the end. The left will advocate for a third party and things will really fall apart.
We have lots of hard work to do and we need to be doing together not arguing amongst ourselves.
obama just thanked mccain for his “half century of public service”.
Interesting. He’s going after McCain not Hillary.
Obama sure nailing it in the JJ speech … I like the way he takes on McCain with humor but still hits him hard.
There should be a landslide at the polls this November.
The republican era will come to an end decisively.
The repukes may split apart. Wouldn’t that be a hoot!
I wanted to post this earlier but Hillary’s speech at the Jefferson-Jackson Dinner was really excellent. Kudos for Hillary.
And Bill will really have the VP spot and the chosen one wont have much to do.
It’s a whole lot of bums! ;)
Some of my entrenched neighbors I talked to today from several households who don’t want to call themselves Republican because McCain is the candidate, and insisted I call them either Conservatives or proud members of the “right wing conspiracy” told me that they have the great strategy of “voting for the Democrat in November” so they can sweep the Senate and the House and win the election after that.”
*g* What an enlightening plan.
Siun, the scene in this YouTube has been going through my head for weeks! Thanks for digging it up and putting it up top!!
But it begs the question: will John McCain get the Silly Party endorsement?
I’m really waiting for the Texas results. Hillary took CA on the strength of the Hispanic vote so I’m wondering what that will translate to in other states with large Hispanic populations.
Rachael was saying the same thing. Said Hill was using some of Obama’s techniques
… reminds me of Ali … smacking his opponents with words, softening them up …
Obama has mentioned Webb a couple of times (Webb’s state) but still…Webb for VP…go for it.
and he just pledged Universal Health Care …
proud members of the “right wing conspiracy” told me that they have the great strategy of “voting for the Democrat in November” so they can sweep the Senate and the House and win the election after that.”

Huh? What??
oh?
Obama is very good at taking note of the local pols. Here in MO, it was Claire McCaskill getting all the mentions last week.
I don’t want to lose Webb in the Senate! Especially in a state where a Rethug could easily win a Senate race, even in a down year for them.
yep - he said he’d work to pass Universal Health Care by the end of his first term and that Teddy Kennedy would not endorse him if that was not his goal.
In reality, not a whole lot - three are small population states, not that many delegates, and with the proportional delegates, won’t be too much impact.
The media will consider it an Obama love-in and hype the hell out of it.
I say Edwards.
Siun, thanks so much for the Python fix. I really needed that. *wheeze*, *cough,* *tears.*
(I missed Clinton’s speech while I was working on these posts … and I’m way behind in comments as we’re updating every 15 mins. THers will have a Late Night post in 15 minutes but we’ll keep updating in this one.)
Unless Edwards would be better for AG
You mean the 2012 election?
I think Allen Raymond alluded to that in response to my comment #153 in that thread today…the Pukes want to put Jeb in office in 2012…sounded like he meant “put” him in office….
So he is less kumbaya and more substance this time? (snort)Sorry, I hear that a lot
Will be interesting, I’m sure. We have a large Hispanic contigent here and I’m hoping they’re smarter than the average bear.
laughing … happy to oblige
I also really got a kick out of the Madonna one on the first results post … it is really funny.
I realize that Washington state is in a later time zone, but Mitt dropped out of the race two days ago. Why is he still getting 18% of the vote?
That would be good, too. Just want him somewhere in the new administration putting forth his policies.
he’s channeling Edwards one point at a time.
I’m still trying to understand Texas’ primary. It has a two step primary and a caucus that is open to all voters.
Rules in Texas
The Washington was also a caucus..There is a primary later; which makes no sense to me.
Yay for teachers
Yay for education
yay for poetry, art, music
I know, but Webb could appeal to “Reagan fans” because he was Secretary of the Navy during Reagan. He’s ex-Military…big lure.
Slam dunk.
I heard JFK in there
Yeah, that’s gonna happen.
Frank Rich’s Sunday column is up, opining on Hillary’s Hallmark Town Hall.
Money quote?:
Seems Obama must have landslides in every state even before he tries to landslide in November….
I hope you feigned horror. ;)
Siun, thanks again for keeping us updated, and also to everyone else popping in results and observations.
love your handle - I wonder if “naughtybits” is taken?
I’m open to change….
If there is a brokered convention, and it stays as tight as it is between Clinton and Obama, Edwards could be the king-maker. And I think Obama knows what he needs to do to get Edwards’ support. Am I understanding this correctly?
three are small population states
Washington has almost 6 million people and is the 14th largest state by population, according to Wikipedia.
Let’s not discount actual voters.
Whoever wins the Dem nominee will require a Southern white male as VP, to seal the deal, IMO …
I didn’t know that about Washington. That’s one more state I don’t claim to understand then.
What is really going to be interesting besides the large states ahead especially on March 4 are
1) Superdelegates
2) What will happen with Michigan and because if they count those delegates and it’s looking like they’ll have to be counted, a lot of people are going to insist those two states vote over.
(((((((((SIUN)))))))))
Thank you.
That would be correct.
Evening, petro.
He racked up three landslides today…!
I was, however, disappointed that you cut the scene just as the Spanish Inquisition entered the picture.
“No one expects . . .”
That could be the catch phrase for the whole political season.
*g*
I should have said besides Superdelegates and the big states on March 4, what’s going to happen in Florida and Michigan because if they are going to count, a lot of people will want those states to vote over.
It means the dems/libs/progressives are getting close to putting all of their not completely known eggs in one basket.
It is amazing seeing these Obamaniacs acting very Bushlike (you are either with us or against us). I am willing to take a look further.
If one more Obamaniac tells me they don’t need my time, money, or effort I may listen to them.
I wish Edwards had stayed in.
Edwards would be an excellent Veep…!
Notice he spelled DETAILS between his health plan and Hillary’s. This mandate thing has been one of the main reasons I decided to go with Obama, even before Edwards dropped out since Edwards called for mandates also. Obama said he would eliminate the “pre-existing conditions” BS that insurance companies use. That’s massive! I think he can get it done.
I hope we’ll stop seeing the “all speech no details” critique of Obama.
I’m just sitting here, watching this speech and I’m blown frickin away.
I haven’t seen anything like this since Bobby in ‘68.
There is something happening here. I can feel it.
Yep, or a surprise entry could fashion a coalition and win it all … are you listening, Gore ?!!
I was stationed in Texas many years ago and I’ve learned not to try and figure out what’s up in Texas. It’ll just give anyone headache.
LOL my husband is a Brit and it’s a term he uses quite a bit :) But it does refer to naughty bits LOL
They can do that? Starting to sound like Calvinball.
Fern- interesting thought from a Candian, as I used the word very word “Kingmaker” wrt to Edwards the other eve- in the case that there is a brokered convention.
That’s the truth, Ruth.
((( Newt )))
How’s it goin’, eh ?
My Deepest apologies …
of course
no one expects …
LOL Obamaniacs. I like the sound of that. But are Obama supporters any more loyal to him than Clinton supporters are loyal to her? We have a lot of Clinton signs up in yards around here, and they know I’m for Obama and ready to ring my neck every chance they get.
Edwards would make a great VP, yes.
From TPM:
TPM
If Huck sweeps, it is proof positive that the Jeebus hates the Republican Party.
Except for some of us of a certain age and construction, all the bits are wobbly!
Man, Obama is really coming into his own these last few months. Outstanding!
Great, dude. Got my “Save the Republic” Mojo going.
I’m just sitting here, watching this speech and I’m blown frickin away.
I haven’t seen anything like this since Bobby in ‘68.
yup.
For those interested in knowing who the superdelegates are, and to whom they have pledged themselves (if anyone), check out superdelegates.org.
Shee-it. Y’all moving way to fast for me tonight.
gotta say I don’t necessarily agree- maybe true in the past, but the terrain has changed. Hill needs someone who is NOT a southerner, but probably male. Obama, I dunno.
I prefer to be referred to as gatinha the ‘Barackite’ It sounds more like I could smite someone
Excellent !!!
As nice as it is to focus on the Presidential race, more work has to be done to ensure a bigger majority in Congress …
I hope that is the decision..any other option is will cause ill will and big problems.
Yeah, WA is the fourth one.
Notice how he was reading off cards at times earlier. Since he started freelancing, he’s just started killin it! Damn.
Tonight, he’s almost as good as Michelle at giving a speech.
Holy Tapdancing Christ what a speech!
I agree, that would be a great ticket …
That’s the other definition LOL any part of your body that might wobble
Thers has a few things to say to you upstairs …
and the latest update is on this page.
What a speech!!!
Rich is eviscerating Hillary
Ouch!
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02.....ref=slogin
wow.fantastic.speech
I guess no one can say he can’t give a speech lacking substance. i do believe he just stated his platform…
FWIW, my understanding of the 2025 figure needed to capture the Dem nomination presumes a total of 4049 delegates and does NOT include delegates for MI and FL in the 4049. So if those states are given a do-over and their delegates allowed to count, the number required for the nomination would go up accordingly. Which quite possibly would leave things exactly where it appears they are now headed.
quite something eh?
What a hilarious video. Loved the last guy’s name with sound effects and singing in the middle of it.
Obama’s speech - as “prepared for delivery” is now available here
(His new new media guy is fast!)
Results updates at 8:15 PM.
i think you’re all forgetting that obama said one of his hidden talents is that he is a good poker player.
think about it.
Ugh. McCain back up in Washington.
