Nooner spends most of her column today calling Hillary a psychotic, damaged, oversensitive, manipulative, controlling bitch:
She often talks about how tough she is. She has fought "the Republican attack machine" that has tried to "stop" her, "end" her, and she knows "how to fight them." She is preoccupied to an unusual degree with toughness. A man so preoccupied would seem weak. But a woman obsessed with how tough she is just may be lethal.
Does her sense of toughness mean that every battle in which she engages must be fought tooth and claw, door to door? Can she recognize the line between burly combat and destructive, never-say-die warfare?
All this hand-wringing about hardball politics, coming from one of the biggest cheerleaders for the Bush/Cheney/Rove machine, who approvingly quotes Lee Atwater. Excellent!
But here’s the kicker:
Deep down journalists think she’s a political Rasputin who will not be dispatched. Prince Yusupov served him cupcakes laced with cyanide, emptied a revolver, clubbed him, tied him up and threw him in a frozen river. When he floated to the surface they found he’d tried to claw his way from under the ice. That is how reporters see Hillary.
And that is a grim and over-the-top analogy, which I must withdraw. What I really mean is they see her as the Glenn Close character in "Fatal Attraction": "I won’t be ignored, Dan!"
Just beautiful.
It’s over-the-top to compare Hillary to a conniving, sexually-deviant religious charlatan, but perfectly fine to link her with the most famous female psycho in the history of cinema. All while accusing Hillary of being overcombative and paranoid.
Lemme get this straight.
- Nooner: Hillary is like Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction!
- Hillary: I know how to beat the Republican attack machine.
- Nooner: See? Hillary is so angry fighting off these imaginary enemies, she’s unfit to lead.
Nooner is seriously projecting. No longer relevant in wingnut circles, she’s the one screaming, "I won’t be ignored."

Nooner has long been know as a very needy, egotistical, drama loving nut job. If you have ever (I’m sorry if you have) watched her speak, 95% percent of the time she is slowly and deliberately dragging out each and every word, she can not make eye contact with the questioner. It is only in the beginning and end of each of her responses. It almost seems that she creates visions of your importance and appearance in her mind during that 95% of eye contact diversion. This person longs to be important and relevant … and she is neither.
Wait, I thought the GOP liked destructive, never-say-die warfare?
Nooner always confuses me so.
“She is preoccupied to an unusual degree with toughness. A man so preoccupied would seem weak.”
No doubt written with absolutely no sense of irony. How does this twit maintain a national forum for this horseshit?
I wonder how seriously the Secret Service considers Rasputin analogies, especially when presented in such loving and bloodthirsty detail. Surely Nooner isn’t advocating such a thing….
Saw nooner on one of the Sunday shows this past weekend. (PBS?) She truely is unhinged and very insecure. Realy creeped me out.
BILL PRESS: Hey, she’s working for her mom. What’s unseemly about that? During the last campaign, the Bush twins were out working for their dad. I think it’s great, I think she’s grown up in a political family, she’s got politics in her blood, she loves her mom, she thinks she’d make a great president —
And, on it goes. Sigh
this is off topic, and I rarely post here, but after yesterday’s Obama quote, I thought the subject appropriate here than elsewhere:
Here is what bother’s me: Why did the reports of Clinton’s staff not getting paid highlight that it was a woman, Patti Solis Doyle, as the person not being paid? Why wasn’t it that the men on her staff would do the same for the campaign? I find either the reporting sexiest or if is true that only Patti was effected for a few days of no pay in late January, then campaign sexist. the mere fact that Mark Penn, when asked, did “not know,” about the loan to the campaign, however hypothetical, proves he was unaware of financial issues, and one can assume he was recieving a paycheck. Is Clinton responsible for accepting Patti Doyle’s offer- and if so, why would she accept?
Yeah, and I believe she once said Rudy was “America’s toughness, personified” or some bullshit like that.
She really is a nothing.
Now we know who she was talking about when she wrote “surly bonds of earth.”
Self loathing hack with that oh so precious accent.
chelsea is being pimped out, but Tagg is serving his country?
Can the little Mittens sign up for service now in the war on terror…cause they dont have to campaign for daddy anymore.
Speaking of pimping, from the Raw Story:
Gee, is this sexist?
BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) — The images in the Basra police file are nauseating: Page after page of women killed in brutal fashion — some strangled to death, their faces disfigured; others beheaded. All bear signs of torture.
1 of 3 The women are killed, police say, because they failed to wear a headscarf or because they ignored other “rules” that secretive fundamentalist groups want to enforce.
“Fear, fear is always there,” says 30-year-old Safana, an artist and university professor. “We don’t know who to be afraid of. Maybe it’s a friend or a student you teach. There is no break, no security. I don’t know who to be afraid of.”
Her fear is justified. Iraq’s second-largest city, Basra, is a stronghold of conservative Shia groups. As many as 133 women were killed in Basra last year — 79 for violation of “Islamic teachings” and 47 for so-called honor killings, according to IRIN, the news branch of the U.N.’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
officially–I dont care which of our two heroes/heroines gets the nod—I wont trash either in the campaign to get there.
Just saw Nooner for the first time on a recent Meet the Russert appearance. What an insult to have Nooner sitting next to Doris Kearns Goodwin, as if they’re equals!
Luckily, Doris was totally in control and kept the discussion reasonable, but I really noticed the eye contact thing. I swear, she would talk for minutes on end and her eyes wouldn’t leave the gaze of the table for a second. It was really weird.
I mean, to put Nooner next to one of the great historians of our time was laughable, especially considering this brilliant passage from Her Noonerness, about how eleated she was that Shrub “beat” Kerry:
http://www.sadlyno.com/archives/8360.html
Perhaps Doris will be able to rise to that level of insightful commentary someday.
Pathetic!
Peggy Babe is a “Ahhhs knows my place” female. They are out there. They can usually be found front and center in the Right Wing corner. I can only apologize for such shallow women who allow themselves to be used and speak in the name of all women. Germane Greer is so perceptive. She called such women “transvestites” because they imitate being women.
I bet I know where you can get a great deal on a Winnebago. Might need a new paint job though…
No one, no candidate, no party, no heavy-breathing consultant, will want to cross any line–lines that have never been drawn, that are sure to be shifting and not always visible–in approaching the first major-party African-American nominee for president of the United States.
Has she ever heard of Willie Horton?/
No, no one would ever resort to racism. She’s delusional.
High Flight
by John Gillespie Magee, Jr.
Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds…and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of…wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there,
I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up, the long, delirious burning blue
I’ve topped the windswept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, nor even eagle flew.
And while with silent, lifting mind I’ve trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space…
…put out my hand, and touched the face of God.
Not Nooner
The brainchild of her beloved Lee Atwater, no less.
Nooner still swoons like she did when she drank like a fish, and like
little boots Bush, she will be drunk the rest of her life. Really nasty
mindset under that phony Irish “charm”, like her pal pumpkin head Matthews… the goal is to set the two large groups in the Democratic Party
against each other, there is no other way for her crowd to win, so for now, she just loves her some Obama because Hillary hating is second nature
to her. She just wants you to swing at a pitch in the dirt.
Or you COULD say- she knows how to win as a woman given the OLD rules of how the game was played- and still is in many circles.
*shuffling through jewelery box looking for silver crucifix*
Both characterizations end the same way….my thought exactly…that is really out of line.
rw -The reason we now enjoy the right to vote is because the women of the OLD days did not know their place and refused to play footsy games with the boys for approval. They marched, were jailed, beaten up, murdered, had their children taken away to mention a few abuses. It was ugly and they were publically degraded. For their toughness, I have many rights today. Hail to those tough women throughout the ages who refuse to know their place.
Would it be irresponsible to speculate on Ms. Noonan’s sanity?
It would be irresponsible not to!
Holy Shit! This is long past ridiculous. We have the predation of Foley, now this guy, a direct reference of Crist. Christ! WTF?!? We’re talking about kids’ lives being ruined and major felonies, yet these sick bastards can keep “getting off” with little repercussion since they’re politically connected, more importantly Repubs. Godammit, the next time any “conservative” starts lecturing me on “values,” let’s just say they’ll be sorry they did.
I think the SS approves as long as it is Right Wing motivated. They do nothing about the hate e-mails on Obama being spread throughout the South with relish. Their purpose is to incite hate and violence. I could trace the origins so I’m sure they can as well. They’ve done nothing.
…And if anyone asks me what I think the chief cause of the extraoardinary prosperity and growing power of this nation, I should answer that it is due to the superiority of their women.
Alexis de Torqueville
Projecting is right. A shrink friend of mine told me “we criticize in others that which we most dislike about ourselves.” Applies to Noonan. Applies to wingnuts. Applies to gay-hating conservative family values pedophiles.
This is Saint Peggy of the Magic Anti-Communist Dolphins we’re talking about, remember.
She’s the one who gave us “Is it irresponsible to
throw shit against the wall and see if it sticksspeculate? It is irresponsible not to.”that should be “women” Please could we have edit.
To be honest, one of the reasons I’d like Hillary to get elected is that her efficient professionalism could be teamed up with the fact that, after 16 years of insane attacks on her, vengeance is due.
Revenge, served coldly and with calculation, could go a long way in reshaping congress. And could effectively weaken that aspect of the Republican party that makes any “across the aisle” bipartisanship impossible.
Just my two cents.
It’s OK. I read plural knowing what you intended. :D
reaking: Hillary Campaign Goes To War With MSNBC Over Chelsea “Pimp” Comment
By Greg Sargent – February 8, 2008, 1:19PM
This is really something. The Hillary campaign has just gone to war with MSNBC, dispatching a top Hillary adviser to launch a lacerating attack on the network on a conference call with reporters moments ago.
at TPM
http://tpmelectioncentral.talk….._war_w.php
the first line is:
Breaking: Hillary Campaign Goes To War With MSNBC…
Having a pimp implies that she is a prostitute – now isn’t that a nice thing to call a pretty young woman who loves her family. Just awful.
Not surprisingly, the Obama craptastic smear e-mail began at Free Republic. (No link to Free Republic from me, thanks — you can find it on the Google.)
Considering that MSNBC is one of the networks to which Obama agreed to hold a debate — unlike the Clinton camp, he still won’t agree to any debates on FOX — the timing of this is interesting. Then again, it could honestly be that she was ticked off at the crap that Chris Matthews and Company have pulled for years and this was the last straw.
Cause Lord knows, littleboots can’t
(CNN) — A female student shot two other women and herself Friday inside a classroom on the Baton Rouge campus of Louisiana Technical College, authorities said.
Baton Rouge police Sgt. Don Kelly said officers responding to a 911 call at 8:36 a.m. found all three dead in a second-floor classroom.
”There was mass pandemonium, people running,” Kelly told The Associated Press. ”One officer — the first into the classroom — told me he could still smell gunpowder.”
I hope HRC sticks it to them, Matthews will never stop the “irish pol”
antics that make him giggle and suck his breath on the air. They both
should boycott Fox and MSNBC to show some common purpose.
This is one time I am really rooting for Clinton. I hope we see the “pimp” give Shuster a good “bitch slap”.
http://tpmelectioncentral.talk….._war_w.php
God, I wish she had magical lethal political powers to destroy conservatism.
Seriously, the misogyny-fueled hate of Clinton is getting goddamn tiresome. Seriously, this the GOP continues to define maleness as might is right and, thus, her very being–not just a woman but a left of center politician–has become the symbol of all things evil.*
*Obviously, they still adore the likes of Ingraham and Malkin so it’s not solely about being a woman, but using femaleness as a slur to represent all of liberalism (Edwards: “girly” man; Obama: Obambi).
Correction: not just Shuster, MSNBC.
So David Shuster makes a very sexist and ridiculous comment last night about Chelsea Clinton. Tweety Matthews does the same toward women in general over and over, just as he has for years. They both apologize. Team Clinton thankfully calls them out on it. Clinton is saying she won’t appear on MSNBC now because of this pattern. Fair enough and justified, just as Obama did all last year with Pox News.
But why would Hillary then go on Pox regularly and continue to do so?!? Pox has been following this same pattern for years, only times 10! Roger Pox Ailes was the producer of the disgusting “Chelsea the barking dog” cartoon years ago, and now Hillary holds fundraisers with Jabba the Ailes. If Hillary was so concerned about this issue, she would’ve stopped appearing on Pox years ago!
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/…..41823.html
Smacks of opportunistic tit-for-tat from Team Clinton. But this is just how Washington works, right?
MSNBC crossed the ultimate line in her eyes: attacking Chelsea (Shuster and “pimping” of Chelsea remark). But then again hasn’t FOX done worse or have they avoided targeting Chelsea in particular?
I don’t think Fox has targeted Chelsea lately, but they did their share when the Clintons were in the WH, as I recall.
HRC and Obama could pitch a debate deal to any of the others on the basis
of the response to their debate last week, where the viewers were treated
to an intelligent conversation for over an hour, a very rare commodity
these days, and impossible to fake… they both can deliver on that and
separate themselves from the Republican suicide club.
That is very refreshing. Thank you!
The word has different connotations in different cultures, like, if you are under 25 or over. Shuster, however, said ”aren’t they pimping her”? That is not like pimping my ride.
In the first years of the 21st century, however, a new meaning of the word has emerged in the form of a transitive verb which means ”to decorate” or ”to gussy.” The instigation for this new definition stems from Pimp My Ride, an MTV television show. Although this new definition paid homage to hip-hop culture and its connection to street culture, it has now entered common, even mainstream commercial, use
How about they debate on a broadcast outlet? PBS perhaps? Gwen Ifill is an excellent moderator.
Seems almost all debates have been on cable channels.
I think MSNBC meant put her on the street, more like the older definition
than the blingy new one, Shuster ani’t no brother, dig?
I missed seeing that, was at a school thing for Littleprop. But I am really surpised that a guy normally as sane as Shuster would choose that language.
Maybe b/c the Clinton’s did such a good job af not using her as a photo op prop over the years the way so may pols do with their kids, but Chelsea has a built mystique. A star quality all her own.
Also, after years of hands off Chelsea, I think the MSM feel weird about dealing with her. Previously it was easy, they just pretty much left her alone. She made that easy for them by not getting drunk and causing scenes inpublic–nlike some other president’s daughters we can think of.
The “pimped” out comment means- I suppose- that Chelsea is being USED by her parents for their own ambitions.
If she is being USED- she is being used willingly.
Even if this is to Clinton’s advantage in the campaign, and therefore by extension to Obama’s disadvantage, this kind of aggressiveness toward the media is good for Democrats.
I’m new to this blog. I have visited a few others very regularly, and even commented on them, but some have become so Obamacentric that I, still honestly undecided between the two Dems, felt like some kind of outsider or troll. And this among what used to seem like my “own kind.”
Somebody suggested that FDL and Open Left were two liberal blogs that hadn’t yet drunk the Obama-ade.
I know the post which this comment thread is attached to is about Hillary, but it’s refreshing to see that the comments aren’t all about Obama and how bad Hitlery and Bill are. I’m amazed at how quickly so many of my fellow liberals and Democrats have taken to sounding just like the Republicans used to sound in talking about the Clintons and the prospect of another Clinton presidency.
As I said, I’m honestly undecided as to just who would make the best Dem candidate in November. Of course I’ll support whichever is nominated.
The remfmeister speaks.
I’m aware of that connotation, but not gonna defend Shuster here, simply because there’s nothing weird about Chelsea hitting the trail for her mom. What a stupid double-standard he applied. The MittSpawn literally “pimped a ride” for the Tax Whisperer in a Winnebago. Did Shuster think that was “weird?” The Shrub twins awkwardly campaigned for the Death-Lover in Thief. Was Shuster on their case?
I don’t know what he found so weird about Chelsea’s campaigning.
Has Noonan ever turned her incisive pen on the sweetheart of her conservative movement, Ann Coulter?
-G
Methinks the petulantly unbalanced Noonan witch doth project too much. That is what she gets for giving it up to Bush the Lesser for so long.
Why are the bleating wingers attacking Clinton now? They are trying to build sympathy for her among her base, and feed their unwashed masses at the same time. The WANT her to be the nominee. It’s the only way they are going to get the winger base to come out and vote for McCain. Don’t fall for it.
Thanks Christy -
Frankly, my urge is to bury my head from this stuff. It is vile and it attracks the vile. Level of being attracks level of life. Some links I don’t want to contaminate my computer, either. How do people get so hateful? They make hostile street gangs look like nice guys.
I’ve requested that I be taken off a vile e-mail list that spews out this hate and I received an attack on my character filled with name-calling, from a stranger, no less. I still receive the e-mails which I delete, delete, delete.
I’m sure you’ll agree, but to clarify — this “pimp” statement is so rankly sexist because they would never say this about a young Bush or Kennedy male working on a political campaign.
Welcome to the lake, myroro! Hope to hear from you often.
Is it possible that Hillary’s fundraising success over the past three days has facilitated her ability to take this stand with MSNBC, given that her campaign’s financial situation previous to that may have led to her debate offers?
Methinks the petulantly unbalanced Noonan witch doth project too much. That is what she gets for giving it up to Bush the Lesser for so long.
____________
the Church Lady just wants “to stop the bitch.”
I’ve been lurking here forever (rarely comment.) This is a GREAT bunch of smart people. Enjoy!
“pimp”=sexual reference=remember Bill got a blow job?
Allow me then to refresh everyone’s memory about why Hillary Clinton is so bad: AUMF, Kyl-Lieberman.
I ain’t defending anything. People are throwing up definitions and I sought to add clarity. Now Hillary can get up with Billo on the anti-NBC express. . .whoo hoo.
The sad truth is that Noonan is only channeling the media. The MSM does view Hillary as Rasputin or the crazed Glenn Close character from Fatal Attraction, and they are only echoing what the right-wing conspiracy was saying during Bill’s terms in office. I am disturbed to hear of Shuster’s comments about Chelsea. The MSNBC frat house atmosphere makes it possible for their resident males to say just about anything when it comes to Hillary and her family. Except for Rachel Maddow, they are virtually all white males jockeying for the alpha position.
I only watch MSNBC for KO, but I’m now having serious second thoughts. Does he have to prey on Britney (or the vapid Paris or Lindsay) every day? Aren’t there disturbed and troubled male celebrities to exploit? Why add to the feeding frenzy in the first place? The background male guffaws during the Heidi Fleiss hit piece was sickening!
“pimp”=sexual reference=remember Bill got a blow job?
_________________
i heard that …..
I suppose some males have pimps- but it’s certainly more unusual than females. The comment is demeaning to Chelsea- comparing her to a whore- but the intent was more to demean the parents- one of either gender- or so it seems to me.
Only one?
Her incisive what?
If I tried to USE my adult kids for my own purposes, there would be a mighty protest. However, if I am engaged in doing something I believe in, they have no problem making themselves available. They’re smart and they choose. I see Chelsea the same way. She thinks for herself.
If anyone called my daughters a pimp or used that term any way to describe them, they would be very sorry.

“let he who is without sin cast the first stone ………”
The Shuster comment goes towards the rank unprofessionlism that the mainstream has been steeped in for decades.
Much of it having to do with the concept of infotainment.
Even Olbermann who I truly like has horrendous forays into that world with his incessant attacks on Brittany Spears.
I feel like that young androgynous lad screaming “leave Brittany alon” but it is true.
She is undergoing a serious mental breakdown and the media treats it like they treat everything else…they shamelessly exploit it.
To the folks in the media, enough with the hyperbolic and witty language and for God sakes stop paying the techies to bury your shows with cheesy, noisy graphics that add nothing to the shows.
Get some new stock footage too. We have seen the same tapes of Iranians marching over US flags and missiles on parade everytime you talk about Iran. Also, I am sure Al Qeda has upgraded from training on the monkey bars too. Enough.
-G
Just to be clear, they were calling Hillary a pimp and Chelsea a whore. I love that “transvestite” thing, by the way.
Agreed. One thing I liked about Obama was how he took the lead by shutting out Pox to call out how they aren’t actually a journalistic operation. He did it also with the flag lapel nonsense and didn’t back down. He didn’t give Bill O’Vibrator the time of day, even as Falafel boy was screaming like a whiny baby.
There have been several things now where Obama was first out of the gate, then Hillary gloms on to it (The Change theme, Underdog theme, this refusing to appear on networks stuff, etc.) Granted, I wish it was about something like Telcom Immunity, but Obama seems to be “leading” on issues more while campagining, and then Hillary tries to steal it, or in other words, follow. We are trying to elect the best “leader” after all.
That don’t sound too Quakery.
On the matter of AUMF at least, Obama is without sin and I’m hoping he casts a few more stones her way over the matter, as in that last debate.
But, generally, I don’t think the injunctions of Jesus Christ are good guidelines for politics or government.
“I’ll admit it. I don’t like you guys,” O’Reilly told NBC’s Andrea Mitchell during an interview 10 days agoin which he grilled her about alleged bias among her colleagues.
Scarborough, a former Republican congressman who has been trying to demonstrate his independence from the GOP, says in an interview that O’Reilly “really does toe the party line more than I ever have.”
“I certainly took offense when he said there were no conservatives at the network, we were all liberal stooges and Marxist sympathizers,” Scarborough says. The “final straw,” he says, was when O’Reilly criticized Richard Engel, NBC’s Middle East bureau chief, for “suggesting the obvious” — that the rushed hanging of Saddam Hussein had been “a PR disaster.” (President Bush told NBC’s Brian Williams last week that the execution video ranked just below Abu Ghraib in terms of the war’s mistakes.)
There is incredible energy among conservatives to dump Hillary- this rancor has translated to many other places. She may or may not be the best candidate- but she CERTAINLY doesn’t deserve the treatment she’s getting. Again, the media is becoming the unpaid servants of the conservative movement- carrying their water for them. Sad.
Personally, I’m really offended that McCain referred to anyone opposing his party as the “enemy”. I’m also really offended at Mitt Romney’s numerous insulting remarks in his “suspension” speech.
From the Raw Story
The Moral Republicans:
GOP lawmaker apologizes for calling unwed teen parents ’sluts’
Well maybe the teenage girls should have had abortions. The guy is an Elephant’s A**hole.
You’re right about the street gangs.
I used to work in an Albuquerque hospital ER years ago. Sometimes gang members would pack the halls and one of us aides would be told to take them to a waiting room.
They always went willingly when we explained and reassured, and they were respectful and nice.
But I wouldn’t ride an elevator with Noonan or Coulter.
By the same token, and just to show I’m evenhanded, Obama’s violated principles of Democratic solidarity with some of his “framing”. I can forgive him, because I think I recognize his tactical considerations in this primary campaign, but, to use the terms someone up above used, he’s not without sin when it comes to these things.
it would be good if the Clinton camp knew how to go about this. as it stands so far they’re being about as geeky as Shuster is dorky. Shuster has about as much street cred as Mitch McConnell ….
Peggy, ask your doctor if Lipitor is right for you.
That Romney speech was one big passle of wingnutty talking points, wasn’t it?
Noonan was also on MSNBC this morning, on “Morning Joe” with Mika. I was surprised to see her there. I only watched a minute or two of her appearance where she gave her oh so expert opinions on Reagan Democrats, how they were largely ethnic Catholics, and were winnable by the McCain campaign. I find (and have always found) her to be difficult to stomach, but she was particularly bad today. The Rasputin and Fatal Attraction references are over the top and I really hope there is blowback. We don’t have to put up with these tools anymore. Their party is completely discredited, and wrecked. They have little or no power going forward. It’s time to fight back.
I wonder if there’s any connection between the fact that Noonan had a hit piece on Hillary today, appeared on MSNBC, and Hillary’s campaign fought back against MSNBC for Shuster’s comment.
I agree with the Clintons calling out MSNBC for the comments about Chelsea, but I think it’s also that the problem with MSNBC has been multi-faceted and growing.
There is no way that Shuster would refer to Chelsea in the context of a whore. It is more likely that he was using the urban use of “pimping out” as in dressing up…or positive addition, i.e., that the campaign is using Chelsea to positively support the campaign of her mother.
He just couldn’t admit that he was tired of wasting his money.

The Clinton campaign has complained about Shuster and Shuster has apologized. Seems like a slip of the tongue- which may be underlain by some genuine dislike for the Clintons.
No NO NO
Oh yes, that’s interesting. It does fit into the delusional NBC theme that Pox pushes. Is this Hillary’s way of “reaching across the spectrums” to attract some Pox viewers? She does appear on the network regularly…
If the Democrats could calm down, we could help the Rwpublicans have their Jonestown, they are primed for it with Romney’s Nixonesque adieu.
Makes you wonder how George Bush can even keep his disasters straight in his mind.
Jon Stewart really nailed it last night when he pulled all of the insults out and played them one after another and then told him to go “f” himself. I’d like to see that segment on a video clip again. Unbelievable.
Glad to see Hill respond. The frat kids will probably just circle the wagons and become even more hysterical in their Hillary Hating – Tweety hardly skipped a beat after NOW earlier made him apologize. It is time for some incisive reporting on The Daily Show on Tweety’s coverage insanity and the MSNBC jock slime pit.

It’s impossible even for them to hold the ideas at the same time that conservative bullshit works, Clusterfuck used conservative bullshit, and everything has turned to pig shit.
They have to claim that Clusterfuck screwed up the recipe.
FWIW, I believe it was Edwards who first refused to debate on Fox News when the NV Dem party was setting one up with the CBC.
My preferred frame for McCain would be “Unfit for Command”, with the implication that he’s mentally ill and “Bomb bomb Iran” as the centerpiece of a national ad campaign.
Okay, okay…he called her a dirty little prostitute sent out to campaign for her pimp mother.
Standard caveat prevails:
Any Democratic nominee gets my vote and more enthusiastic campaigning than I gave Kerry or GOre
Because…
SCOTUS appointment
Plain and simple.
But, the question I have to ask is:
If Hillary is slammed by progressives, conservatives and feminists, is she an equal-opportunity target, or is she so successful in finding the ‘center’ that no one with strong convictions can stand her?
So far, the best arguments for Hillary are that the worst arguments against her are unfair or unproven in a court of law.
I think you are right. Edwards also took the lead on recanting his AUMF vote. Ahem.

I think Edwards and he announced their debate refusal on the same day, with Edwards a little sooner, so didn’t seem like Obama was following Edwards, especially since Obama had already shut out Fox for months by that point.
I was disappointed to see Obama do an interview there recently though. I hope Obama doesn’t let up on them. They’re not doing anything differently!
There are several people I pay no attention to. Among them are:
Noonan, Limbaugh, O’Reilly, Coulter, Ingraham, Jonah Goldberg, Hannity, Dana Perino, Ron Christie, George Will, and others. In terms of intelligence, none of these individuals can touch Senator Clinton.
We’re going to crush you Peggy, and Mr. McCain. And not incidentally Ms. Noonan. Reagan was one of the worst Presidents in history.
Mr. McCain. You’re very stale toast.
You’re not listening to his plain English, then. He was calling her a whore metaphorically, not literally — it’s a common usage, but he was still comparing her to a whore.
If you want a good laugh, pay some attention to the Doughy Pantload that is Jonah Goldberg.
Then disinfect your hands and burn your clothes.

Have you heard the news John McCain? Americans are weary of George W. Bush, war, and want change. And they are very tired of going broke. And Mr. McCain, you’re message of ‘more of the same’ is very tiresome too. Your ideas are way beyong the retirement age.
But the surge is working!

____________
you mean, she’s a whore, but in a good way …..
or, she’s being sold on the street but she doesn’t know what she’s doing ……
i prefer the latter (as his clumsily intended meaning,) by inference, of course!
MSNBC editors wouldn’t let him be so crass otherwise ,,,,,,,,
If Peggy is this far gone then should any of her beloved “Reagan Democrats” pay her any mind and continue their Republican-voting ways?
I think people should begin to think for themselves this time around — and then continue to do so.
John McCain — Let’s stay in Iraq 100 years.
Democrats — Let’s get out of Iraq and tend to the needs of Americans here at home.
Choose.
According to Media Matters, “MSNBC’s Shuster falsely claimed he said “Americans should be proud of” Chelsea Clinton before his “pimped out” comment.” http://mediamatters.org/items/…..f=i_latest
And this is after he apologized for his “pimped-out” comment. Clueless seems a little too charitable, especially in the context of this all started with mocking Chelsea’s calls on her mother’s behalf to the people on The View. To be fair, they were only echoing what Joy, Whoopi & Sherri said (and they were being no different from how HuffPo exploited this to also mock Chelsea), but that’s exactly what MSNBC has become; a cable echo chamber for anything that disparages Hillary.
I got this email from Eleanor Roosevelt’s Legacy Committee and thought I would pass it on.
Ok the Clintons will not release their tax returns until after they get their nomination. Gee that’s great. Now they lend 5mm to themselves, no rate of interest disclosed, presumably a demand note. Then if the Clintons tank and they can’t use the general election money, bingo, they have a tax deduction against Bill’s speaking engagements to the corporate payouts. Or is a bad loan to a campaign not tax deuctible if it becomes uncollectible. But I can’t deduct my generous contribution to the Clintons early on, an act of blind faith for which I have been duly punished. So Democrats, let’s all wait for disclosure of the Clintons’ tax returns after they get the nomination. BO has disclosed his tax returns but the Clintons see no real purpose in that. When are the Clintons going to stop.
Noonan misses the mark, as usual, in attributing the theme of toughness to Hillary, as if it originates with her. Just listen to endless drone of George Bush’s oratory legacy: “tough on terror,” “tough on Iraq,” “tough on Iran,”…tough on whatever or whoever the voices in his head tell him are out to get him or his parent’s wealth.
I’m joking, of course. Any voices Bush hears in his head don’t come from within. No. Between his large ears is an empty plain whose low winds are accompanied only by faint noises of animal itchings and scratchings; and those, the low-wattage Bush brain primitively interprets as the disdainful murmurs of unnamed enemies bent on forcing him to face up to his humiliating absence of authentic personal power.
Back in reality, the only distinct words George Bush hears in his head speak to him directly from an electronic earphone and were penned by a typical Republican speech writer who, like Noonan, consistently mistakes the intense fervor and paranoia of undiagnosed bipolar disease for patriotism.
Hillary’s only crime, if any, is plagiarism.
When are the Clintons going to stop
when are the clinton bashers going to jump off the GOPer bandwagon and stop?
i get so damned tired of the Obama mantra on AUMF when his senate votes ( you know, the ones that count?) are identical to clintons – or worse from progressive punch vantage point – regarding every iraq vote since he’s been accountable.
do me a favor, okay? stop trying to BULLY folks from supporting a Hillary Clinton campaign. if you only knew how desperate you sound beating that drum.
I am desperate, absolutely desperate about the Clintons. I cannot bear the thought of 8 more years of the 24 year Clinton/Bush debacle. The Clintons are an absolute waste of time. But I am not trying to bully you into doing anything.
Exactly.
Yeah and if only she was a man then well these traits would be……..AN ASSET? Oh peggy you are so confusing.
What peggy sasy about a man who is tough….supposedly:

He’s Got Two of ‘Em’: Why I can’t stop being happy about the election result.
Peggy Noonan right after the 2004 election:
“Well, I just can’t stop being happy. I don’t mean elated–it’s hard to get elated by big history, as opposed to by the birth of a baby, say, or a child’s being elected president of the debating club–but I continue to feel relief (the exit poll hives have gone down) and satisfaction (my countrymen, such good sense they have). So let’s just let the mood continue and have fun. […]
I think the people tended toward Mr. Bush because they saw him as a good American man, a man they know–an imperfect one with an imperfect past who turned his life around with grit and grace. That’s a very American story. It’s one we all know, and respect. […]
The American people arguably did not pick the more interesting man in the race. Mr. Kerry strikes me as a complicated and intelligent person, and the one time I spent any time with him he seemed to be bright, and to have an interesting range of thoughts on many issues. Mr. Bush, on the other hand, does not strike me as the most interesting man in the world. That’s one of the things I love about him. I sort of have a theory that Americans don’t necessarily desire terribly interesting men as presidents. “Interesting” tends to bring with it a whole bunch of other attributes–”complicated,” “hard to figure,” “unknowable,” “startling,” even sometimes “tortured and tragic.” A lot of us are Republicans, and we just hate tortured and tragic. […]
About a year ago I was visiting West Point, and I was talking to a big officer, a general or colonel. But he had the medals and ribbons and the stature, and he asked me what I thought of President Bush. I tried to explain what most impressed me about Mr. Bush, and I kept falling back on words like “courage” and “guts.” I wasn’t capturing the special quality Mr. Bush has of making a tough decision and then staying with it if he thinks it’s right and paying the price even when the price is high and–
I stopped speaking for a moment. There was silence. And then the general said, “You mean he’s got two of ‘em.” And I laughed and said yes, that’s exactly what I mean. And the same could be said of Reagan.
Regarding the Obama mantra of “HOPE”
Hope????HOPE????
WE DON”T NEED HOPE WE NEED HELP!!!
“Noonan misses the mark, as usual, in attributing the theme of toughness to Hillary, as if it originates with her.”
Ummm, I beg to differ. Hillary exudes a steely toughness, which is very different from any of the male candidates out there, including former candidates like Guiliani. Even W’s faux cowboy swagger and rhetoric is no where close to Hill’s steel. She’s had everything and the kitchen sink thrown at her, and she still manages to stay cool under fire. I still remember how she handled Tweety when he tried to diminish her by touching her cheek. She infantilized him very deftly and then brushed him aside. Contrast this to how Mitt lost his cool when he was challenged by the AP reporter.
Pray tell more about her “crime” of plaguarism.
Peggy who???
It is high time for Americans to grow up. To take the responsibility to know what is going on. I don’t want to hear that they are “too busy working 2-3 jobs to keep up.” That is a lie. They have plenty of time to watch goofy Teevee shows. After they get off work, after the kids are in bed, pick a couple of blogs — and find out what is going on. Don’t have a computer? One of your friends or family members do. And if you are really, truly, too busy with working 3 jobs, that, all by itself, should tell you to vote Democratic. (Either candidate will work.)
But the number of Americans who even believe this SH*T is unbelievable. We get mad at corporations for advertising on their programs/newspapers, but WHY do they? They get business for it. And why is that? You tell me. Ignorant Americans. No one wants to say it, but it is true.
Peggy Noonan is Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard:
