Sen. Thad Cochran, on the idea of John McCain getting elected:
"The thought of his being president sends a cold chill down my spine. He is erratic. He is hotheaded. He loses his temper and he worries me."
Captain Mustache John Bolton:
Revealing information that he said had never before been made public, Bolton discussed how McCain secretly tried to shepherd his nomination to the United Nations — a nomination that was held up in Congress over Bolton’s controversial anti-UN statements and policies.
"He was very active behind the scenes," said Bolton, who was ultimately sent to the UN via a presidential recess appointment. "He thought I was the type of ambassador that ought to represent the United States at the United Nations."
"We will face other challenges ahead that will require new energy and before long, new leadership. I’m absolutely confident, with your help we will elect a President who shares our principles. As we take on the challenges, we must be guided by the philosophy that has brought us success. Our policies are working. The American people support our points of view. They share our philosophy."
Y’all ready for another four more years of craptastic Republican Bushery? Because with McCain, it’s gonna be "less jobs, more wars" as far as the eye can see. Boo yah…what a legacy. Carrying on the Bush/Cheney agenda, piling more failures in the corner on top of the others?
No thank you.

Barbara Ann!
Hmmm… the worst Prez calling his Veep the best in history! Serious credibility issues there…
Well, better now than later -
Good evening, Christy. Hiya Tut.
Sorry for off-topic, but Sam Seder fans can catch him live on air starting now for the next three hours:
http://samsedershow.tv/sammy_cam.htm
Just what we need, more hotheads in charge.
pppbbbbbttttt!
Howdy, Ma’am!
Thanks, Rob.
Evening to you, Christy…
Evening all. Have a snoring old dachshund sleeping beside me here on the couch — cracking me up. *g*

This is either evil or delusional.
Sounds like McCain gave him wayyyy more than a hug. I wonder if it involved a roofie, because Bush sounds like teh delusional.
Delusional. Absolutely nuts.
Both! ;-)
The evil part will catch up later on.
299,000,000 people (and that is just in our country) disagree.
Either that, or the rest of us have just been declared not American.
Oh my. I notice that all three of kiddo’s computers are running in the downstairs bedrooms. My guy tells me it’s easier for him to run all his computers than to go from site to site on just one. He sort of plays musical computer chairs. I see him do it every night.
kiddo amazes me. He seems to be correct almost all the time. One thing I am sure of. He’s right about this: McCain must be dealt with and beaten. Once again, good night. Time to for more pool. kiddo is my partner. L.
Freaking John Bolton likes McCain, because he is better on IRAN than Bush.
Regardless of the faux “polls”…”they” are only a really, really, small, tiny segment of the population that rants and raves about their “supposed” powers…
Reminds me of that Twilight Zone or (Outer Limits) epizode with those tiny creatures on the staircase that said, “bite them in the ankles”….or something like that…
Have a lovely evening, Lahoma.
I sympathize — the Siamese and the black cat snore in stereo!
They must feel oddly powerful to be so disliked…both of them. Psycho…
How cute!
That’s creepy in the extreme. Where is it from?
I’m finding the Neocons….really tiresome.
John McCain:

Christy – Didn’t get to the last thread on time to comment – but I very much appreciate how you take the temperature of the lake and then give us the kind of posts that help to keep folks on a bit more of an even keel. Expecially the last post – skillfully done.
It is from the post above quoting Boooosh.
Thanks Fern — it’s more taking my own temperature, I think. I needed a pause, and thought everyone else might appreciate one as well. Glad you enjoyed it.
Redd’s got a weiner dog- Redd’s got a weiner dog.
I’ve got a dog that looks like a walking bear skin rug. If she lays down on the beige couch- she disappears.
Ahhh… Duh… (I guess I’ve gotten into the habit of ignoring anything he says as a self-defense mechanism!)
I’ve got a couch potato mastiff, and when he lays on the couch…he takes up the entire couch….but he’s a big baby. He says “wa wa” for water!
More than that, she’s a 9 pound, 10 and a half year old miniature weiner dog who thinks she’s the biggest damned dog on the block. And she’s old and arthritic and cranky…and got me through a couple of miscarriages and a pregnancy full of bedrest, and still my baby after all these years. :)
LS – I guess I am sort of sensitive to that sort of exclusionary language. I’ve been doing some geneaology on my Grandfather’s family in Poland. Their whole village ended up being taken to Belzec. My grandfather and his brother did not come to this country in 1905 to have their grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s rights under the US Constitution destroyed by a bunch of people who decided that THEY are the American People … and the rest of us are …the enemy.
That is precious.
Whoever the Democratic nominee is they need only one slogan to answer McCain or any Republican on any issue:
“If you want more of what you’ve had for the last 8 years, vote Republican.”
Say early. Say it often.
OT – Keith Olbermann issues an apology to the Clintons and specifically, Ms Clinton for David Schuster’s remark.

Damn straight, Hugh.
I couldnt sleep last night and was listening to AM radio. Boortz started with “Its not the economy, its Islamist Fascism” I switched…Mike Ray gun was talking about the same thing.”Economy wont matter if we are all dead.”
I guess the word is out but the question is… are they expecting another attack, planning one.
Redd
We got this dog a year ago. She came as a fluff ball- and ends up weighing 60 pounds. She’s a water retreiver on both sides- standard poodle and golden- and she cannot stop running after things. Wouldn’t give her up for anything. Best dog I’ve ever had- and I’ve had many.
A second Schuster apology.
Amen, Hugh.
I used to walk in the country playing a trombone while a mastiff would follow and sing. We were quite a pair..)
When I refer to “they”, I am only referring to the powers that be that aim to take away the rights of the citizens and disregard our Constitution and our laws….you know, the one’s that condone things like torture.
Redd- you should run a fashion magazine great eye for photos of beautiful women dressed to kill.
I am repeating myself, but can’t help it. I will always remember the day shortly after the Iraq occupation started turning into a bloody civil war two or three years ago. McCain was on some talking head pundit show. He had a very accurate and insightful criique of the Bush/Cheney blunders, and of the bleak road ahead in Iraq. Then he clearly articulated all the problems with seeking a military solution in Iraq, and how small the chances were of any good outcome growin out of military approach.
Then, to my amazement, he went on to advocate a military solution. He droned on saying we had to grind along and continue with military only policies that were indistinguishable from the ones he had destroyed just a few momments before. This was a corporate big media news show, so the ignorant blowhard idiot moderating it did not mention antything at all about the stupifying contradiction in McCain’s words.
Ever since then I have viewed him as a deluded man with little insight and no common sense or judgment at all regarding anything involving foreign affairs or the military.
And let us face it -he was a pilot, and his suffering as a POW do nothing to change that. He really has no life experience that qualifies him to claim any special insight into strategic military or foreign affairs. He is no Wesley Clarke, no Eisenhower, no Marshall. He is not even a Teddy Roosevelt or Truman, since he shows no sign whatever of being able to educate himself to overcome limited views and attitudes from earlier in life.
Some have been relatively friendly (me included) to McCain compared to most of the other GOP candidates. Certainly McCain, along with Huckabee, do not have obvious sociopathic psychological disorders. But he will be very very bad news.
He is an extreme conservative. He is violent, bloody, unthinking and unimaginativem self-righteous and extremely narrow minded and deeply unclever and uninsighful and simple minded militarist.
And over the last four years he has destroyed any claim to his rather flimsy claim to maverick and straight talk status.
So, let us take political aim straight at our fell foe for the next election, good old (very very decrepit and old, in spirit and mind, if not in body)
‘Less Jobs More War’ Dishonest John ‘The Straight Talk is Crock’ St McCain.

The horrifying Bolton endorsement speaks for itself.
It’s all they have. The economy sucks — and if people focus on that, they know they are screwed. Word is out: scare them shitless again for the next few months, or the gravy train is pulling out of the Cronytown station.
“trombone and a mastiff”
Now THAT’S a great picture.
I need a picture of that!
And don’t forget to tie Bush around McCain’s neck like a millstone.
Didnt someone say he was at the bottom of his class and I read that Bolton will be AG.
Mine sings all the time…led by “Wolfy”…their conductor…I have a bunch of dogs and a wolf. They are hilarious!! They each have their own voice…sigh.
You must have been an adorable pair…Mastiffs are really special beings.
Dog thread, oh good! Lil Bit got another check up and her bladder stones were infection related so no special diet, here little eyes are better but will never be healed, her back is better and her allergies are still awful. Progress I’d say! And the bodhi is slowly warming up to her.
I just watched “Rescue Dawn” and one of the first things those commie rat pathet lao did to Dieter was to waterboard him.
I’d love to see the video of that! *g*
LS
Mine’s a far cry from a Mastiff- but I don’t try to keep her off the couch any more. It’s too amusing to watch her “relax”.
I too would like to apologize on Schuster’s behalf. I didn’t follow the story but having seen a few of the Friday roundup shows, I realize now that knowing what I’m talking about is vastly overrated so I feel comfortable weighing in.
I want a dog so bad. As soon as I can afford to take down the big old dangerous dying tree so I can put up the fence, I’m getting one!
McCain=Bush, McCain=Bush, McCain=Bush… ;-)
Great news. Don’t know how people get along without a dog around.
And let us face it -he was a pilot, and his suffering as a POW do nothing to change that.
What does this mean?
So, here’s this evening’s fashion question: do you think a deep wine red dress would work with my red hair? I love the color of this dress, but I’m wondering if brownish-auburn hair would clash?
Thoughts?
His main strength among well intentioned independents and centrist Dems and Repulicans is his reputation as a maverick straight talker.
That was always a rather flimsy claim, but not entirely false… until his ambition drove him to his despearte pandering, equivocations, flip-flops and lies of past four years. Need to nail him on that.
He has bald faced lied several times on TV lately. Need to start posting those clips, with smoking gun evidence that he has become a conscious liar.
My bride is a color expert, unfortunately she is at one of those “women only’ parties so she can’t help!
Not only Bush – Cheney, Gonzalez, Addington, the works. Let’s see John McCain campaign carrying that load.
My feeling exactly…to the detriment of the couch….I just hate to “harsh their mellow”, which they do a lot better than I do….
I have a great picture of “Arthur” and “Arty Bell”, the cat…but I don’t have anyway to post it, it is really a nice picture.
I generally avoid red, because it’s like neon hair and neon coat, ya know? But deep wine red is such a pretty color…tempting…
Sorry to say, no photos were taken. I was house/mastiff sitting at the time. We were miles from the nearest neighbors, which is why we could pull these tragic and comical marches off for miles at a time. The trombone spent several years on the Harvard Band prior to my corruption of its sensitivities.
I agree. Life experience does not translate into wisdom. McCain is as you describe him.
Go for it ! Anyone who writes like you do can wear whatever she pleases. I think it would be great with your hair. I also love Coldwater Creek clothes.
Christy – I think it’s more the color of your complexion. My mom had red hair, but also was one of those freckly-redheads. She had no problems with that sort of red. But purple????OMG.
Also read something that claimed Bush said McCain is best person to continue and Bush policies. I am very confident that is true, if Bush is thinking about foreign policy. In that case, I am sure that McCain will continue policies of stupid mindless killing, that in addition to being immoral and expensive, are counterproductive and in all but the most short-sighted run, endanger national security.
McCain will also be more humorless and self-righteous about it, too.
Christy, wear it. Are you thinking of a special night out or daytime wear or what?
CHS- The cut is wonderful and the color could work. Hard to be sure with a photo.
that dress + CHS = yes! in my opinion. but then with regard to fashion, the common sense rule is usually to do the opposite of anything I say. I am a classic rumpled slob. so that is the warning label for my advice.
Daytime wear. This would be something one wore around the shanty whilst chasing the p-nut?
The other thing you can do that will mitigate is to find a printed scarf with that red and some other color in it…like..(this depends on your complexion) forest green or blue or perhaps chocolate brown. that will give a neat segue to your complexion and then the whole “red hair thing” won’t mean a thing. My two cents.
Nice dress!! Hmmm…you have to do that “color” thing…winter, summer, spring, fall…
The dress is “winter” blue tones….if you have blue tones in your hair (deep auburn)…it will look good…if your hair has “fall” tones…hmmmmm…might clash.
Hold up color to your face/hair and figure out what is an enhancement…it is pretty evident when you do that.
McCain has so much rage inside him that I think he would like to get rid of a lot of people no matter who they are. He is very scary. We also need to tie his remarks about the Vietnamese people to him once and for all.
Has anyone compared and contrasted the GOP and media response to the following:
Hilary Clinton’s defense of her daughter compared to the Dick Cheney defense of his daughter.
The response to Mrs. Alito tearing up to Hillary Clinton tearing up?
-G
I have to do a panel coming up at the Take Back America conference. Was contemplating a new outfit for it. Thought the cut of that dress might be nice on…
Hmmmm… I was envisioning more of a burgundy from your description, but that dress is fabulous. Go for it!
He also went way out of his way to help pave the way for relations with Vietnam.
John McCain, the worst pilot in the Navy? The man who probably was involved in the loss of more Navy assets than any other person actually on our side of the war during Vietnam? Neocon Warmonger. Leader of the Keating Five. Last in his class in Annapolis (or very close thereto). The man who walked out on his first wife and children (at a time his wife was terribly disabled from a tragic car accident) to take his carpetbag to Arizona solely out of sheer ambition to be on the political dole somewhere. The John McCain who then shamelessly immediately started an adulterous relationship with the decades younger daughter of the local Anhueiser Busch distributor who was politically connected in the Arizona GOP? That John McCain?
Pardon me, I have had the pleasure of Saint John McCain as a public representative ever since he plopped his carpetbag down here. He is an extremely intemperate, fairly slow witted, belligerent, pompous ass. But I’ll be willing to keep him here if that is what it takes to keep him out of the White House. I have met him and been around him numerous times, as well as seen him in action for almost thirty years now. He is a total jackass.
Don’t be a goof! I’m sure she has meetings during the day where she might dress up.
Buy the dress. Buy the dress. It will look great on you.
STAPLE SINGERS- Uncloudy Day (audio only)
McCain’s rehearsed, quiet tone is telling. He has to “tone it down” to not sound “angry”, but he is angry, and he has every right to be angry. I just don’t want a president with repressed anger in the WH.
I love the cut. However in comparing your pic (above the post) with the page from the catalog, I’d say no.
Yes, he did but why all the anger? It flashes in his eyes sometimes and it’s creepy.
It sure is a pretty dress and I think the cut would look great on you. I’d be inclined to give it a try. It’s not expensive – if it works, great, and if it doesn’t? *shrug*
Well, I have that weird Fall sort of tone hair, with blondish highlights here and there. But pale, pink-toned Spring skin with blue eyes. I’m hopeless when it comes to classification, I’m afraid. But I think I’ll buy it anyway. *g*
You go. Got black jewelry, purse and shoes? Silver or gold would be fine too. Very simple (but noticeable) jewelry. Share a photo!
Are we talking about the John McCain that demanded Bill Clinton immediately leave, in his words cut and run and wave the white flag of surrender, from Haiti and Somalia?
That John McCain?
-G
The great thing about Coldwater Creek is that it’s easy to return items you don’t like.
Well, we know where you stand on McCain…! ;-)
I do like their clothes — I got this dress for an evening out with Mr. ReddHedd and it was quite nice. (And Mr. ReddHedd liked it, too.)
Do I have to go to my room if I suggest that Mrs. McCain is sporting a strange Star Trek, beehive…rat’s nest..bouffant thingy..attachment to the back of her head.ummmm…that I haven’t seen since about…1960….??? Am I now banished for bringing it up?
the dress reminds me of the “Diane Furstenburg” style from long ago. You will feel so good in it.
*channelling Evil Dr. Puma*
What kind of Bushery is this?
I think it is a great dress, and I think it is the skin tone that is what does it….it will look great.
OOOOOO, Toby likes that a LOT!! And yes, i’d get the red dress — but I still think a scarf would help tucked into the v-neck ..it’s my story and I’m stickin’ with it.
Thanks for that. I am prejudiced, but you confirm my suspicions. Could you go undercover on his campaign? It would dangerous work, but you could do some good.
By the way, FDL, thanks for this note:
(YouTube of Diana Ross…seemed perfect for kicking back on a Friday night.)
I was sitting there like a goof trying to figure out what the clip had to do with anything McCain.
Ive been saying that for quite a while.
You are seriously asking why he has anger? Do you know many Vietnam Vets? I don’t care if he’s right or wrong and I sure don’t want to see him elected but I understand his anger.
Loved her clothes. Back then I had a waist.
It was a sort of play on the title…but the title was really an excuse for me to put up the YouTube.
And if there are people here who don’t think Jim Webb is angry you are dreaming.
Nope. I noticed that too… Not really a beehive, not really a chignon… Just weird.
McCains commercials on the radio sound like something out of a prayer meeting. Quiet music that has no relation to what he is saying…a mellow voise…attempts at calming scared people…grandpa
You should worship him.
Hmmm, I guess that depends if that is a comment on the mind set of the McCains, or that is your two cents on fashion advice for Christy. If the latter, then STRAIGHT TO YOUR ROOM!
I like that one too!!
No. Didn’t mean that. It feels as if it’s directed at individual people. Like, how dare you disagree with me. They don’t have anything to do with his past which is tragic. I just have never understood anger at people who have done you no harm.
Anger comes him many shapes and sizes. McCain’s is of the asshole variety, nothing deep or introspective about it.
OK thanks. I guess I shoulda tried LISTENING to clip. That would provide a clue, huh? It’s late on Friday… that is my excuse.
OMG…
Christy should not do that hairdo!!Think how easy it will be for Barack/Hillary to push John’s anger buttons during a debate.
I’d say there are some seriously unresolved demons there. He strikes me as *still* fighting the Vietnam war — “If we hadn’t have pulled out, we would have won . . .”
Hmmm…interesting.
I so want CrazyTrain to pick Traitor Joe as his VP.
That would be too much fun…A ShrubHugger and ShrubKisser.
Traitor Joe says there’s no way that’s gonna happen, so that basically means it’s already a done deal.
Doesnt Mc Cain have melanoma and isnt that hard to cure even with surgery. How long has he been cancer free?
Moyers was talking about how important it is to know our Pres health
now….back to the bargains *g*
Hugh and Twain
OK, I’ll buy that.
Sam Seder was just saying that McCain had flirted with the idea of switching party allegiance in 2001, but, Jeffords beat him to the punch…
I saw that too. David was wrong, but they are piling onto to him way too much. Matthews has committed far greater transgressions. David is so talented, I hate to see him scapegoated. I think the Clinton Campaign is applying pressure and MSNBC is throwing David to the wolves as a scrifice. David apologized. Keith didn’t need to weigh in. I really like Keith, but sometimes it’s best to remain silent.
Ooh, that could be entertaining.
She’s just sporting in general!
Actually, in my old age (55) I look at hair pieces and such as good fun. Don’t own any, but I’m just chicken.
Hmmm.
Webb’s angry, but you can see the level of control in his bearing and his eyes. With McCain? It’s nonexistant.
Thanks, Raven. I would really hate for you to misunderstand me. I really feel that he is endangering his health when he get so angry. I don’t like his politics but I certainly don’t hate him.
*channeling Jane*
Go ahead — make my day.
*G*
He’s had it twice.
re the dress. You’d look stunning, Christy. If you pick jewelry that has a stone or beads that’s halfway between the red of your dress and the red of your hair, it will bridge the two colors. (part of what i do as a color person in graphics *g* ) Email me if you want more specific help with the chroma-bridging.

Oops! Wrong thread.
My bad.
LOL
If McCain picks Fuckeryman as his vp that simply demonstrates how out of fucking touch he is.
Did I just use the F word? I shocked my own self.
I do disagree with that. Sampley and the Vietnam Vets Against Mc Cain have not forgiven him for helping to normalize relations with Vietnam. Now, do I think his experience with the North Vietnamese color his perspective on “Islamofacism”? Sure it does. I know we have a tendency to view the Vietnamese as peace loving freedom fighters but they won at all costs. Mind you, I don’t agree with him but I think I know where he’s coming from.
Speaking of Sam Seder — I’ll be on his show on Sunday at 5 pm ET. FYI…
Alright…you wanna go all fashion and stuff…try Miracle Whip as a mask – 10 min. wipe it off…insane.
It strikes me that David understood that he screwed up.
This, of course, is in great contrast to Tweety and others . . . Still, David’s integrity doesn’t depend on Tweety taking responsibility for his ridiculous statements.
MSNBC’s integrity, on the other hand . . .
I like that better than a scarf – emphasize the pretty neckline on the dress instead of covering it up.
Lord woman, I love you. This is for you:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v…..38;search=
kiddo
The color of the dress does lend itself nicely to many a stones. I also thought the right scarf could bridge many issues.
Doesnt the country need to know this?
No, I’m cool.
Is Schuster fired or just suspended?
I just don’t want a president with repressed anger in the WH.
“Serenity now! Serenity now!”
Right on! Any particular topic on the agenda?
But perfectly funny!
Suspended!
The soul of a dog gently cradles your heart.
I appreciate his work at normalizing relations with Vietnam, and that was not an easy thing for him or anyone who fought in Vietnam to do. That’s not what I was referring to. When I hear McCain talking about Iraq and Iran, I hear too much of the “if we hadn’t pulled out of Saigon, we could have won.”
Let’s not forget a whole new generation of men and women coming home with lots of shit from this horror show in Iraq.
-G
There is also a case of group thallium poisoning in Iraq:
“This is a disturbing incident,” said Mohammed Abbas, a police official. “The use of thallium in this way appears to show that someone in Adhamiya is reviving the techniques of the mukhabarat [the Saddam-era secret police].
The Mukhabarat is getting the band back together.
I believe the apology was enough although I really hated the remark. Can we now see about getting Tweety off the air?
beautiful.
I hope you’ll be wearing your “extreme blogging” attire: feather boa and tiara.
I’m not forgetting them for a minute and we haven’t seen shit yet. One way or the other they are going to figure out they were suckers, just like us.
with pjs.

Presidency and rule of law issues, I believe, but not fully set in stone as yet.
You know, it certainly does…because he would be the leader of the free world…
The country should be informed.
Someone tell McSurge that there have been 13 US troops killed in the last 5 days in Iraq.
Fucking sickening.
-G
He fucked up. He apologized and he’s taking the rap. Hopefully he’s be a better person for it.
Aite, ya’ll be cool.
Oh, goodness. I forgot mayonaisse as a beauty treatment.
We used to put that in our hair, in the 60’s.
But, I think I’ll stick with the vicks for my chest tonight.
ha ha
That dress looks like it has a similar fit. So if you liked that one, you would probably like the red one.
David Shuster made a mistake.
Tweety is an asshole who routinely has suckie judgement. He should be drawn and quartered.
“I appreciate his work at normalizing relations with Vietnam, and that was not an easy thing for him or anyone who fought in Vietnam to do.”
Problem is that I have no confidence that any of that McCain still exists. There was a time I could find something to recommend him. Not now. Not one single thing. He has sacrificed whatever maverick integrity he ever had to ambition. I said the other night he had a nano-shred of integrity left, but it’s been a couple of days and I cannot think of anything that is left.
If he had more brains, integrity and courage, he could have refrained from the pandering, waffling, flip-flopping and lying and be where he is today. CPAC wouldn’t hate him any less. But he didn’t. He is 100% bad news now.
Heh heh. Yeah, no that wouldn’t work very well. I was born and raised here; there are plenty of folks that know me and know that I don’t belong anywhere around McCain.
Good night precious people. You are doing the work that needs doing.
Yea. I have chest hairs, too.
That’s a good reason to get one, too. Mostly I need someone to keep the cat in check. *g*
Thank you Christy for putting out the truth about McCain… there is a whole lot more stuff out there.
Besides the Keating Five scandal…. we need to have a peek at all those documents that were part of the Indian Gaming investigation in the Senate that was the start of the Abramoff take down. If I remember there was around 750,000 pages of documents that were never turned over….
Then there is the fact that AZ has gotten over 91 million dollars in defense contracts since 2001….. what part has McCain played in funneling money here…
That’ll take up all your time… I shall be watching/listening…!
Well, too bad. Thanks for the info on McCain, though. I didn’t know if those rumors were true, but I’ll take an FDLer’s word!
Aloha, Raven!
So are you and Lahoma. Thanks for keeping us centered.

I lost all respect for McCain when he gave Bush a public BJ.
Mustard plaster, girlfriend.
Chemical weapons have been located.
No, no.
I don’t have chest hairs.
You weren’t here earlier, we were talking about my chest Cold.
you don’t really have chest hair do you?
It’s okay if you do, I mean, oh golly….
McCandyCain is gonna take a lickin in Nov.
Provided it’s Obama. Not trying to ruffle any feathers, just honest opinion. The head-to-head polls already reflect this. TPM has one out today showing Obama beats hime by 5% and Hillary losing to him by 3%. Plus, this is just simple fact so far, the more people see Hillary, her numbers go down, and the more people see Obama, the numbers go up…rapidly.
I never followed McCain’s financial issues very closely. If he has always been a total fake, I will perform due diligence on such claims. But I think I will survive the horrible truth.
I hope to see a close analysis of McCain’s claims to integrity, and hope to see them start right now.
We have had wonderful politicians in the past. Carl Hayden, John Rhodes, Mo Udall, even Barry Goldwater was a great man personally, in spite of some of his political tendencies, and did simply a ton of amazing things for this state. There is a lot of defense type of stuff here, so there is going to be funding. McCain hasn’t done diddly squat, with the exception of helping keep luke Air Force Base open.
With all of the empty headed blabbermouths on cable news, it was inevitable that they would go after one of the few people with some pretense at being an actual reporter. CNN has a stable of anti-immigration racists. MSNBC has a slew of goofs like Matthews and Carlson. Slurs and vitriol out the gazoo, and it’s Schuster they get upset abut. O tempora! O mores!
I’ve spread the picture of “the hug” all over the place where I work. It made almost everyone laugh. I now refer to McCain as “Snuggles.”
Interesting observation

No disagreement with that, either.
Over the last x number of years, McCain has seemed to move toward the far right wing’s version of Vietnam, rather than what he lived through. Now, as you say, he’s somewhere else.
Okay, I bought the dress. And this wrap…because I always get cold at drafty hotels.
I won’t argue with ya on that! It is BS, I thought it was a honest and sincere apology, certainly a lot better than Tweety’s…
He hasnt made a single vote this year.
Rats. Too bad they don’t have that one in large-lady sizes.
Cliff Schecter’s world is probably getting really busy. He’s been on McCandyCain’s trail for a while now…Good stuff!

I still use mayonnaise…it works great… the Miracle Whip on your face literally wipes your face off….hahahahahhahaha…exfoliation and all….guys could use it it too!!! hahahahahahaha…crazy stuff….google it….I’m scared to eat it after I read about what it does to your skin!!!
Ooo, sequins and beads. That is a gorgeuos wrap!
Gorgeous I wish I had some where to wear it.
That is true… met Goldwater when I was a kid…. living in Wickenberg…… I remember the old real conservatives…. the ones you could sit down and have an adult reasonable conversation. I wish the Repugs remembered them too and tried to take their party back.
No but I do have Irish underwear.
Are you serious?
Around your shoulders? *g*
Trying to dance your way out of that one? *g*
OT and not permalinked but you can see two Southern Hemisphere Indian Ocean cyclones with their clockwise circulation here. They sort of look like eyes. It reminds me of pictures I’ve seen of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Oooo…snuggles. I like that! Might have to repeat….a lot.
I love “live action shopping.” Go Christy!!
maryfuckin’mccurnin, you absolutely crack my shit UP!!
Not a one? I know he has missed over half his votes in this past congress, only one Senator has missed more, Johnson, but he’s medically excused…
The topic comes. The topic goes.
I read that somewhere…but there havent been many votes. He didnt vote on the stimulus package and we lost by one vote after he said he supported it.
Unless Diebold steps in…McCain can’t hold a candle to the debate talents of either Obama or Hillary or Hillary or Obama. He has no “fire”…unless he’s pissed off, and that would work against him, because he would have no substance in his arguements, just noise….no way.
The Pukes own policies and the results of their policies have already defeated them…it is an exercise of ego…nothing more…unless the election is either fixed or suspended.
So, we will see a pic in the fancy new get-up, right?
Have you decided yet on the Mrs. McCain beehive? If its a no on that, break it to LS gently. I think it was LS’s idea.
Yeah, my mother knew the Goldwaters pretty well. They were friends in spite of the fact that she was a bleeding heart liberal educator through and through, and consistently poked him on all things political. I remember and knew him from my earliest childhood and went to his funeral. On a personal level he was a great man and far different than most people think.
Just back from walking the dog. Feel the need to express an opinion about “the dress”. I have the fashion sense of a bear- but I like it.
He speaks like he’s on anti depressants
My very stubbornly wavy hair doesn’t behave well enough to do a beehive hairdo. Thank God.
Lady in Red
Is dancing with me….
Christy, you’ll be the belle!
Can someone tell me what the heck is Irish Underwear?
And, do I really want to know?
McCain is unresolved. His experiences as a prisoner of war plus the rejection by the “cool” dudes in power have tweaked him beyond his ability to function. By normalizing relations with Vietnam perhaps he was trying to make peace with himself. I don’t think it worked since he is willing to kill and maim innocents in Iraq and Iran.
‘Tis true.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
Stunning.
We will have to meet someday.
Mocking works — use it to good advantage!
I read today that McBush, I mean McCain was Bill Kristol’s man in 2000. McCain wants to do the war thing himself and he even told us so.
That bomb Iran stuff was no joke at all.

Yes we will!
WASHINGTON : US conglomerate General Electric has decided to relocate the headquarters of its key consumer financing business, GE Money, from Connecticut to London, a GE spokesman said Friday.

Well, so much for representing your state. Maybe all the people of Arizona will be angry at him for this. My daughter lives there, is a Dem, and says that most people seem to dislike him.
Put my margarita into the freezer to keep the ice from melting while I was walking. Now it’s frozen solid….SHIT!
Abandon Chimp.

Time melts all margaritas.
And then there’s Mrs McCain . . . Saw a shot of her and her hair on the evening news tonight, and wondered when Chet Huntley was going to return after the next commercial.

You mean he Thadded Shrub’s Coch-and-ran? Idjit.
Wonder if anyone told Clusterfuck that his own party is about to abandon him like a new born bastard in a Sligo churchyard.
Naw- let him find out on his own.
Mr. Doodle is in the living room watching the DVD that came with the Zeplin Mothership CD I bought the other day. I’m back in the den yougling Cher.
Where I found out she was on Good Morning America yesterday.
(As long as we’re on diva music.)
LS? rwcole has a margarita problem. I’d call OKK and Lahoma, but they’re busy.
Redd- re reading your post. I don’t think anyone wants to look under McCain’s skirt.
hehe!

good night all
Thanks Christy for reminding me how great the lake is.
He will never make that realization. He is soul-dead.
Guess I could microwave the thing- but that just seems WRONG!

OOOOOHH — he’s a cross-dresser? Just one more reason for the fundies to hate him. /snark
Add more tequila seems simple to me … done that been there :>)
I think rwcole did the whole bottle of Cuervo I sent on…*G*
We’re almost through moving into a new house- went for a walk and my wife found one she likes better. ENOUGH!
Ewwwwwwwwwwwww.
Oh, that is wrong. What nahant said… more tequila.
LS- Was that from you? Much obliged. I’m into the Sauza now- but that left great memories.

Thanks for doing the work I was too lazy to do.
I love that song.
And, why did I get tears listening?
Something. Some long forgotten memory related to that song?
And, yeah, I’m ready for Pull Up A Chair too.
If I go to bed soon, I can make it.
Its Friday night!!

Hey, Katy! How’re ya feeling?
Regaining your strength. I did that pretty much from may to june, even though i was working again about 2 weeks after surgery. The weakness lingers a bit, but when it pays off? It pays off. *hugs*
Stuff with enough alcohol is hard to freeze for long. Enjoy!
Tomorrow!!
Yeah! It’s a miracle!
(((((katymine)))))
Loo Hoo,
You are not a chicken.
You fight the bad guys.
You deal with 4th graders all day.
You’re my hero.
Not a chicken.
Get a piece. It’d be fun.
And then, a scarf and sunglasses and go do something Wild.
Glad to learn that it has enough alcohol.
It is a near perfect margarita
Was reading Yeats last night about the temporal vs the eternal…wonder if there’s a margarita in Plato’s heaven.
Wow. Digby’s been having more comment problems.
aliasofwestgate @257…
It was almost 3 months after surgery before I was sleeping all night…. having hot & cold flashes (anesthesia affect) so I have a lot of catching up to do…. Doing great…. starting my second month of drug therapy for the Valley Fever they also found. (ya go figure)
Thanks for the link!
I listen to the measured monotone without the visual, sounds like a long time on the same meds
You can know that if you go to sleep, you will wake up with something to look forward to.
You need to sleep.
It’s okay.
Hey, as long as you’re healing, all’s good. ^_^
Usually I need to float a little extra citrus on top- but this one is holding up JUST fine. Am beginning to prefer Myer Lemon to Lime for the float. Never too old to learn.
Yes there is.
Also raspberries.
Julia’s upstair.
And Huckleberry Pie ala mode?
CRIPES! This is about the only place where I comment or read comments (other than Doghouse Riley and S/N) and that sort of thing is the reason why. I gave up on Kos about 2 years ago…
It’s all about the PNAC strategy, folks. The neo-cons will NEVER give up the gains they’ve made. NEVER! I’m ready for the worst, how about you?
Show Mc Cain your support for another 100 years in Iraq by strike /boycott on 3-18 -08 . No work, no buying- visit your congress critter office to express your displeasure or gather in DC . Armbands w/ # 5 to mark the start of year 6 would be nice. Peace is past due.
We keep all hard liquor in the freezer makes for great drinks or shots…ummm frozen tequila shots,,, goes down real smooth
The world of the eternal seems great- until you figure out that it’s inhabited by things like “the number four”. Not great neighbors.
Robeert Greenwald and the Brave New World film crew have two new videos emphasizing this very theme. Not sure if someone has posted about them at FDL yet, so here they are:

Yes, there is a very good reason we have moderators…
I put up this YouTube for Hillary and Chelsea tonight.
He needs leopard.
Issues aside, John McCain is just too old to be President, both chronologically and mentally. He does not have the energy to perform the job, and I suspect would not last long under the stress. This ought to be a big issue even before we get into the warmongering, etc.
