To make some of GWB’s friends rich.
Love John Prine!
On their road to pundition? (Maybe, extraordinary pundition?)
I sure like the framing of this Poll..
AP Poll: Exiting Iraq would boost economy more than stimulus
WASHINGTON (AP) — The heck with Congress’ big stimulus bill. The way to get the country out of recession — and most people think we’re in one — is to get the country out of Iraq, according to an Associated Press-Ipsos poll.
Pulling out of the war ranked first among proposed remedies in the survey, followed by spending more on domestic programs, cutting taxes and, at the bottom end, giving rebates to poor people in hopes they’ll spend the economy into recovery.
The $168 billion economic rescue package Congress rushed to approval this week includes rebates of $600 to $1,200 for most taxpayers, the hope being that they will spend the money and help revive ailing businesses. President Bush is expected to sign the measure next week. Poor wage-earners, as well as seniors and veterans who live almost entirely off Social Security and disability benefits, would get $300 checks.
However, just 19% of the people surveyed said they planned to go out and spend the money; 45% said they’d use it to pay bills. And nearly half said what the government really should do is get out of Iraq.
Forty-eight percent said a pullout would help fix the country’s economic problems “a great deal,” and an additional 20% said it would help at least somewhat. Some 43% said increasing government spending on health care, education and housing programs would help a great deal; 36% said cutting taxes.
Nice big wave to RGB…. how the heck are you?
that’s an average of 491.4 soldiers per year and 234.478.6 iraqis per year – now if mccain gets his 100 year war…
Who sent it, the Repugs?
Eureka,
the only thing that would’ve made that better would’ve been
to give us the live version where john has some choice words for El Jefe
before he starts strummin’.

What no one has been able to answer if this “tax rebate” will come and bite me in the butt in 2009 when a bright shiny new DEMOCRATIC President only has been in office a couple of months…
That’s another reason McCain can kiss it good-bye.
Could we make that a life-time term, please?
Maybe it’s the rightard’s answer to global warming. Less people.

Nite CT…
OK,Whew!
Clinton, Obama and Crazy Train were all here in WA campaigning today,
The Primary IS on the 19th.
Fork, I just about had a seizure there!
Are you talking about the state, or D.C.? I thought the state was tomorrow…

No way. Valley Fever while in recovery? Dang. Enjoy your trip to Greece. Sounds loverly.
Lots of us here are determined to survive!
take care. be sure and use sunscreen …..
They are caucusing tomorrow.
Hey Katy—much better, thank you. After reading yes it is….no it isn’t….yes it is….no it isn’t, it seems that commenters were ultimately able to come to agreement that some show called “Pimp My Ride” is not about celebrities.
Somehow, I don’t think I’ll even get that time back so if we could leave it at that, I’d be most grateful.
g’nite CT.
Great, Suz. I will do my v. best to be there. Won’t see you tomorrow nite: we’re having a big bday party for my better half, who’s turning 60. Big doin’s here. And of course, our range died Sunday, the vacuum cleaner died today, and tomorrow morning…SOMEthing will go awry. Makes the fun sweeter when it finally comes together. Hope you all have a great weekend.
Thanks, ES!
(Hi RBG, Newton, ET!)
thanks, i went there already. there’s also a website to collect signatures but it was down earlier. i wanted to add my scribble but couldn’t.
They gave you a ballot? Good grief, it’s all down hill from here.
Hey ES did you this email today from him??
Dear Bill,
Our Constitution is under threat and the most basic principle of checks and balances is being undermined. Not since Watergate has a president so openly disregarded the will of Congress.
During hearings in the Judiciary Committee yesterday, I told Attorney General Michael Mukasey that I called for impeachment hearings because of the stonewalling and blatant abuses of the Bush Administration. He responded by stating that he will NOT enforce a contempt of Congress citation against Harriet Miers and White House Chief of Staff Josh Bolten for refusing to testify before Congress. The video is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7M9sjRLCtQ
Alberto Gonzales may be long gone, but the Bush Administration continues its executive overreach with the new Attorney General.
We can debate the need for Impeachment hearings. We can argue its effects on the election or our agenda. But one thing is abundantly clear:
If Congress’ right to require testimony is undermined, then our country’s leaders – Democrat, Republican, or Independent – will be immune from accountability.
The power of the subpoena – to call officials before us – is one of the most fundamental safeguards in our system of government. To have it effectively discarded – by virtue of the President instructing Administration officials to ignore a congressional subpoenas and not even appear before Congress – is unprecedented. The idea that the Attorney General would willingly defend this position – despite Congress’ constitutional right to call such witnesses, is outrageous.
Impeachment hearings could render this moot: The President, Vice President, and all officials under them would no longer invoke executive privilege. There would be no more smokescreens.
In one week, I will be delivering my letter calling for impeachment hearings to Chairman John Conyers. Already, 16 Members of Congress have joined my call, including 3 Judiciary Committee members. I am hopeful for more in the coming days, but it is important for you to reach out to your representative in Congress to express how you feel. You can view the current list of signers, here: http://www.wexlerforcongress.c…..ItemID=230
I do not know how Congress will react, but I do know this: I will pursue this course aggressively. I will not compromise away the constitutional role of Congress. Your support is invaluable. Please know that I am working everyday to ensure that the Bush Administration is held accountable.
Please continue to support this movement at http://www.wexlerwantshearings.com.
Yours truly,
Congressman Robert Wexler
Hey, Laura!
sleep all good and stuff
I had to miss most of that thread, did my link convince anyone that Pimping something IS actually in the mainstream lexicon?
Dude, aren’t you caucusing too?
After I mysteriously got purged from the voting rolls I had to make a personal appearance to get it.
SASQ…No.
Here you go. Wexler’s Impeach Cheney petition.
But there is thought of impeaching Bradbury.
See my 73, I am not on the voting rolls and they won’t be updated till next week and my voters registration card has to be mailed to me so I am kinda forked there.
OMG, Busted. Imagine missing an election.!
Night, CTuttle

ok pups, time for me to try to bust the forking back spasms with another soak in the tub. g’nite all
Kind of reminds me of the Super Bowl strike where they said there would be 12 utilities BUT only 6 showed up and it rained cats and dogs…. mud bowl type of rain…. glad I was too busy with DFA …. great candidate running in AZ CD-03 Jack Lord…. running against SHADEGG
I always say the only difference between a pimp and a whore is where they wear their feathers. /s
My dog is better than than Bush. We love the earth and her smells he is much better now no limpimg he is loping around happy as a clam. 4 months ago the vet wanted to operate on his shoulder…he also believes in plasma as the basic building block of the universe…Zappa last check, believed it was stupidity…anyway Blackjack is fourteen he likes liver, chicken, yeast and a hot dog which he happily inhales every night under the starry central california coast skies…after of course a jog around the bay with time of leach for sniffin and peein. I call it reading the paper as he gets all the news through his nose. Now I think that is a nice pleasant little post. Hope you enjoyed a little humanity with your politics.
it is in the lexicon. how mainstream is very much in question. associating it with anybody’s daughter is unquestionably derogatory. as far as i know, Chelsea Clinton has lead a reasonably careful public life, much
more so than any number of other sons and daughters of current political figures.
Good night, Laura Doty!
Nite Suzanne…. may the healing waters do its trick…

Fourth Branch is at it again:
BTW, Thats how I found out I had been purged, looking up the location for the local caucus, the first step is to confirm your on it.
Gnite Suzanne, good luck!
Ok… heading off to bed too… night all… {{{{{{{FDL}}}}}}}}
Good night Suz.. take care of that back
Yes.
;)
Hi everyone!
It very much is in the lexicon, Busted. But the original connotation hasn’t been lost as it’s still very much an insult when associated with a person in particular.
Jumping back and forth I almost missed your post.
I agree completely, you don’t pull that.
That was not the angle of my dangle.
Busted… if are a elected PC, I get access to the voter rolls. I know if I am on the rolls. WE had over 40,000 provisional ballots here in AZ on the Feb 5th primary in Maricopa County….. what a mess
Can I take my comment back?
I got purged here, too. Didn’t get to vote- not that i’m bragging about it. But there wasn’t much to vote for, seein’ as how we have no delegates. Just one referendum – with which I was very familiar – baseless suggestions to the contrary notwithstanding.
enjoy ……..
Hugs to you bigbrother, i loved reading that!
I see my dog going around sniffing doggy butts next door, and equate it to little old ladies gossiping over the fence.
White flag?
I didn’t mean to pick at it!
Honest.
RGB… let me know when you are coming to the valley!
Will be on a project in NYC so…. so not want to miss seeing you… !!! (ok get me)
You can if you want. It’s just one of those more or less parts of slang that i didn’t like when rap/hiphop became THE huge thing, bigger than anything again. That’s how it entered the lexicon in the first place with that ‘glam’ life of Jay-z and all the rest.
Thanks katymine, sleep well.
That’s how I just found out too! Wasn’t a caucus though, I was looking for my polling place so I could vote in the primary – baseless accusations to the contrary notwithstanding.
alias – how IS the music business?
Add a shrug and a grin to that too. *grin* I don’t like that particular genre of music, but after going clubbing for quite a bit in my late 20s, i’m familar with the origin of that one. You had no choice but to hear it played. I just wanted the techno dammit, and the europop.
Probably won’t be heard until tomorrows news cycle but I found this leaked Memo very revealing Manuel Miranda Says Iraq “Diplomacy” Utter Failure
And read the actual memo, it is an utter repudiation of the Bush assertions that we are “winning” if the measure of that is a stable, democratic government.
Miranda Memo
It also reveals that Bush Plans Permanent Bases in Iraq.
That Bush lied about progress being made inb terms of the oil law and “Baathification”.
That there has been no actual progress in establishing courts, a trustworthy police heirar5chy, non-corrupt politicians or a system of checks to prevent US money from being embezzled, a lack of success in establishing basic utilities, the list goes on…and on…and on!
He states that Condi’s State Department is incompetent, Crocker impotent, and State is incapable of succeeding in a wartime “stateless” climate. He makes the Statement that Roosevelt (I assume FDR…and his successor Truman) was at least prepared for pacifying and establishing systems of government [in Japan and Germany after WW2]. I suppose he’s suggesting that we should have continued a military government (or maybe he’s forgotten that we actually DID have one in Iraq…that also failed). And his “fearless leader” never had a plan in place to actually have a successful government, not did he analyze what the problems even were.
Not that Miranda thinks that matters…he, like his mentor Bush, thinks such issues as history, culture, and potential religious conflicts are simply “stereotypes” that should be ignored. He’s a firm believer in anti-Santayana-ism “He who doesn’t know history is able to escape it”….or, in other words, “History, Schmistory! F*ck the Intellectuals!”
This from a guy that was Bill Frist’s right hand-man, who apparently stole internal Democratic Party communications through unknown means (perhaps wire-tapping), an ally of Meiers, Bush, and Rove.
If I remember correctly, Transmiticate will ship the day your ballot is due.
This vid is for the Clinton wimminz.
well, as for me this weekend, i just spent the evening creating a flyer for a workshop i’m putting on on environmental activism next month – i’m really proud of it – it’s beautiful and … i learned how to change the background of a photo of me – as computer moronic as i am, i’m amazed i could figure it out. some other aspects of the the flyer apparently just took pity on me and miraculously jumped into their places.
tomorrow i’m going to an all day concert of music from all kinds of traditions.
and then sunday is doing homework and studying all day for a quiz i have coming up for my monday night class.
Shuster shouldn’ty have gotten suspended, though. First Imus. Now this. What is it w/ MSNBC?
Well, Radio Riel is growing fast in SecondLife. I’ve been out of commission with laptop troubles. Along with the studying for boards, cold and flu season working, and then getting sick. But we’ve got several more DJs, hosts and now a business manager. Our founder has officially quit her day job to run the station full time. Two streams under constant use, with a third one for the more adult material we have. (Like the genre referred to as ‘Porn House.’)
It’s a good thing I’m not paranoid between here and My blog, well, lets just say I am not real PC at my place.
You should see just who stops by.
The Sergeant of Arms from the Senate?
DOJ, all kinds of neat ones.
I have a big mouth
Thank you again for that, it wasn’t necessary but is way cool.
what subject the quiz in? Do you really need to study so much for just a quiz? I could see if it was a test or exam. But for a quiz?
not to worry.
my final word on the matter:
if he’d been more genuine and less puffed up about it, it could’ve been forgiven.
his non apology makes it just another example of an MSM figure showing how
oblivious they are to the poisonous bias in which they have indulged in toward
Hillary and anybody associated with her. for a while people thought that Shuster
might be a cut above the norm. apparently not.
Not being one to let sleeping dogs lie, so to speak, and having missed part of the “pimping out” thread, I thought I would look and see what the Urban Dictionary had to say. It has 211 definitions for “pimp” which pretty much run the gamut of meanings, but it has only 2 definitions for “pimp out,” both of which have to do with fancying up cars.
The opportunity is there for anyone who so desires to add an additional definition for “pimp out” which sets forth whatever they think Shuster was trying to say with his usage.
Keith O gave a far better apology than Shuster.
So, you’re pretty relaxed.
Wow.
It’s all my fault…..I won’t ever talk about car shows again.
it’s my totally intense arabic class at the university. i’m waaaaay behind because i was away for 10 days, so first i must catch up on a whole huge chapter, do it’s homework and then study the vocabulary from two chapters. that’s more than i can do in a day, but i have some time monday before class too. it still may be more than i can do in two days, but that’s what i’m giving it. a real test will be following, probably in about 10 days. aaargh!
Yes indeed he did. Shuster should be embarrassed, if not humiliated, for not measuring up to that standard. Keith could not have sounded more sincere.
btw that picture of macabre and bush from the previous thread really revolts me.
It’s fun, newton. *grin* I plan on getting back on air, as after i’m done testing for my Pharm Tech Certification next week. I’ll have time to play after that. The job hunt goes along with this, but that can only be done during certain hours of the day. Usually the ones in which i’m either working or not working. DJing happens after hours for me, most times.
I’ll be able to get my laptop back in order again, and then i can go back to work on my ’second job’ as i call it. ^^ I get constant messages that i’m missed, and really need to get back ‘on the grid’ as i call it. It’s half work, half play as usually i’m having a riot being on air and throwing together sets.
Excellent. Thank you.
Just in case you didn’t see nahant’s find.
It’s 63 degrees in the City Beautiful at 2:02 a.m. Gotta take some meds and hit the hay. I like MSNBC less and less.all the time.
oh yeah. I’m assuming somebody posted this link but I didn’t see it, so inj case not, here it is:
http://illinoisreason.wordpres…..ere-there/
It’s relevant to the Obama/Rezco situation.
nite.
Gnite BFL.
Yeah, okay…so do the people getting arms permits have to sign on with some kind of Cheney militia?
Caucuses are tomorrow in Washington, I think! The Primary is more of a beauty contest…so get the to a caucus if you are interested in having an input!
This is one of the sickest and most disturbing things I have seen in a while. America the good is dead and gone. What we have done, and are doing, in Iraq is not only no better than Sadaam Hussein, it is worse. Read this stunning article from Solomon Moore in Saturday’s NY Times and try not to cry for both Iraq and what is now the rotting festering shell of America:
.
But, hey, being the beacon of light, democracy, sanctity of life, truth, justice and accountability that we are under the
Pol PotBush Administration; we meted out fair and equal justice, because “As part of his sentence, Sergeant Hensley was demoted from staff sergeant”. Words just really don’t mean much here…Wax poetic anytime.
have a good night’s rest bfl
Oh. Catch up. Sounds like a lot to do. Also sounds – to me anyway – like a hard class. Best of luck.
That is such a perfect analogy!
You will also be happy to know I bring the soccer ball on these every day outings. He honestly thinks we are playing…to his great satisfaction as be believes that anything other than play is a gross was of his orbit time around the sun. The soccer ball gives the appearnace of play to all the locals you are the omly ones who know that I am actually execising to increase my heart and pulse rate to help metabolise all the natural nutrients I consume.
To be a bit more specific organic beans of at least three, Black, Red and Aduki with shortgrain brown rice on the top. I grow legume sprouts in the darkness of the cupboard and add some of each of the 9 to the top. The rest get stored in the refer for the next day once fully sprouted.
Next I add a homemade Thai sauce (no black sites allowed). This consists of a little olive and sesame oils, add hot cayenne powder, seshaun spicy stir fry, Thai fish sauces, soy and Dr. Bronner’s sauce, sea salt and pepper and a garlic mix that I am making fresh in large portion.
All of this is mixed together and munched down while lurking at FDL.
Today’s jog two girls who looked to be grade schoolers offered me some flowers they had picked from the motel flowers bed. I thanked them and bowed my head and hands together as I declined the offer. However I must say their sweet gesture lingers pleasantly.
thanks. i think I will. probably gonna go to dr. tomorrow. got blood in my eyeball. gross, huh?
thanks.
hardest class i’ve ever taken. math, physics, whatever, were all easier. thanks for the good wishes.
here’s wishing you a speedy and complete recovery of that eye of yours.
Bush can’t plan Jack Shit he’s outta hear…the countdown is less than a year unless of course the rumor that Conyers is seriously considering impeachment can be confirmed…in that case the whole administration will be occupied…(hmmm) with holding their assess with both hands and flusking the Ginko Loba and ordering the Staples special on shreders and magnets for their hard drives.
I must sound like a walking bacteria-and-virus laden hulk….but I am a San Joaquin Valley Fever (Coccidiomycosis) survivor. Back when they didn’t even know what it was, I contracted a nasty dose of it (either from building underground forts or having a secret hang-out in an abandoned squab ranch. I was about 10 years old back in the sixties in Southern California. It was a very nasty illness for a time, and I felt more like an experiment than a patient…they were trying just about everything on me. I guess they pumped me so-full of antibiotics that I recovered.
Jay Silverheels was in the hospital at the same time and would come over and visit me. That’s they only silver-lining. If it’s any consolation, once you recover from Valley Fever you generally are resistant. And recovery is pretty complete…I eventually became a pretty good cross-country runner.
I read that from your link earlier. Thanks.
This cat’s gonna find himself in some hot water. But he knew that when he turned it over to the press, so maybe he has other motives. Maybe he’s on McCain’s wish list.
Or, in Arabic, that would be: Salamtak habibi.
I can’t believe it. A Beatles song I’d never heard before.
Well, it quieted right down here all at once so I’m going to hit it, been a long week.
Good night Pups.
John Prine Sam Stone, in honor of all our Iraq war vets and in protest at the treatment they are being denied by the Bush-stunted Veterans Administration.
They have to go quail hunting this weekend at Armstrong Ranch.
KO said Darth’s been invited back this weekend — and that he’s going.
Yeah, I had it too, but I don’t know when. I was told I had had it sometime in the past, when the doc saw x-rays (I was a teenager) and he could see the scars from it.
Was this the case where the Rs stole D e-mails from a shared committee computer in which security options weren’t properly implemented?
IIRC, they made the argument it was ok because the failure to lock down access to the D’s mailbox constituted an invitation..
Lovely ethics. Amusing this fellow betrayed his own too. Wonder who will hire him next ;-)
I don’t know what he’s up to? But maybe he want’s to make sure that Condi isn’t selected as anyones #2…THAT seems the primary impact of this. I don’t think it’ll endear him to McCain…nobody likes a blabber. And it gives the Democrats too much ammo to say that there is no real progress in Iraq, politically.
Lights out close and lock the door when your done… Good night Firepups see you at the next late late late Night
he has diarized on dkos this evening. overshadowed by shuster talk. alas.
Yep…
Of course, there’s a book deal waiting.
nite pups
What have we become?
Late coming to the Late Nite thread…
Hi ES!
(This might be a case of Hello, Good night, but we’ll see…)
This whole Shuster business is kinda distressing for me… The only progressive reporter in MSM. He said something stupid. Didn’t he know that the bosses might just be looking for reasons to fire his ass, since he’s such a progressive? Why give them the ammunition?
I’m not quite sure; but I think the world might have been better off if Sadaam had liberated us instead of the other way around….
Miranda was involved in something called “Memogate” where he somehow penetrated Senate Democrats servers and stole over 4000 documents and emails. The DOJ investigated and – ahem- declared that they could find nothing illegal ( I wonder if the decision was made to Mukasey-him out of prosecution…following orders from a higher executive officer).
He was released from his Senate “service” and then given the Iraq job. Reward for a job well-done.
Memogate
Wonder if our *new* Swiss ambassador will be present. I continue to believe his trips are all bidness and the hunting just cover.
what’s on my mind is what’s keeping me up. the private deputies in the fbi and dhs with shoot to kill immunity when, yen when martial law arrives, reported earlier here based on dkos diary.
the mukasey tear up the magna carat, the king’w word id law now and forever. and a little joy from learning about th elatest BTHTBR, bad things happening to bad republicans, the travails of the former treasurer of the RNC. who when asked to provide an outside audit faked one. even the letter head was fake.
sheesh.
also relieved to see pups back defending constitution rather than flaming at flamers of fdl in primary debates.
reminds me to remind you what a harvard dean said to studnes in ‘68. You are here for 4 years, I for a life time, and the university forever.
the progessosphere is forever. let’s keep our focus on the enduring things. and that way the constitution will always have a friend eveb at this hour. 2:57 am in the bluestate.
nite all.
Oh…forgot to add. The ability of Miranda to penetrate the Senate Democrats server takes on a whole new interest now that we know there was an active program to intercept domestic communications without warrants.
Y’don’t think??????
I am with you 100 percent.
And hey Biodun..)
good. haul him before sen ethic committee instead of impeachment. Chair is the junior sh*tator from Ct. fogeddahoutit.
good nite.
you don’t suppose that the intercept was before it reached the server, do you?
Why would that thought cross one’s mind?
Iraq was generally a happy, educated and westernized place before W/Cheney.
J. Blige was awesome with U2 on Suzzane’s late post last night…has so much power in her projection… love that energy. The “Yellow Polka dot bikini that she wore” was hot energy too I remember the original version I think in the 50’s. The string bikinis are nice.
I studied French, German, Sanskrit and Spanish, hitch-hiked through East Africa where I picked up a smidgeon of Swahili. I did a study abroad program in Paris, south of France Avingnon, Aix on Provance, Bavaria, Munchen and Kassel Germany.
I love my planet and want America to love it or leave it. I became a citizen of the planet in 1970 and was a member of Green Peace and othe environmental orgs. Let’s clean up the mess we made for the next kids.
whee. what a vote of confidence. in me and my ability to be coherent and persuasive after 4 hours failing to sleep. despite 3 glasses wine. one chibota roll. (Carbs + red wine do things that sleeping pills dont usually. safely except for th e weight issues. traded off by extra gym time).
going to look at the muck for info on our last BR (bad republican) to have Bad Things happen to him. the treasurer of the rnc. now let’s see if his criminal trial discovery runs up against missing emails on their way to misallocated funds. he’s already faked an audit of his own activities, even the letter head was faked.
that’s sound criminal to me. Soames Oakley experts awake? Ecahn?/
will they use the rule of law to eat their own? Is the catholic pope, i mena the other way around.
really time to sleep.
Frankly.. The news and events of the last 48 hours from CSPAN hearings, the Senate votes on PAA, to the news re torture, memos, trials, police state, war, unitary executive declarations and the AG covering for them.
Impeachment investigations, war crimes, and revolution should all be exploding in this country on the last 48 hours worth of news and events alone.
That may be true, may not; I don’t know. Sadaam was not a good guy, and Iraq certainly had serious problems (many caused by our sanctions in addition to all of their own). Sure hard to see how it was not one hell of a lot better off before we invaded it though.
I do. Things could be getting fun. Sudden question marks in the house and senate, clinton saying no more crappola. Economic freefall. The fun thing is that the media didn’t realize how smart the Clinton (and Obama) has become wrt media bias.
And I just learned today that CSPAN is cable. I think this is wrong, and that CSPAN should be available to anybody with a television.
Here’s what I say about draggin out our candidates dirty laundry…don’t go behind their back ask them first…get a statement from their campaign. We have every right to know. Don’t just start whalin on their very public asses and giving dirt to the fascists pigs. You don’t like the term pigs tuff shit their are in the richest nation evah over 40 million citizens with full rights living in
P O V E R T Y
Those people have NO medical care. 200,000 went to war for us sent by the PIGS PIGS PIGS PIGS MFing PIGS PIGS who are getting rich of off the misery that they inflicted on others in our names!!! Giving those folks amunition for their coming smear campaign for our candidates (who are not my preference) is an act of supreme idiocy not the first time for LHP in my umble opinion. I believe America is the bet but she has to clean up her act before she takes it on the road again. I love my doge but I cal bullshit on LHP.
I am sure one and one eighth million dead along with six millions displaced Iraqis just might agree, given the chance. Crimes against humanity is what those figures suggest, on top of war crimes.
Yeah and the ladies had lot more freedom than now. Annd one million christians were kicked outunder Malaki what an asshole GW is.
America’s fingerprints are all over that one, no escaping the forensics there – I would add.
Well.. I think I will leave this fine thread the way I entered..
g’ nite you fabulous firedogs.
I am Already Against The Next War!
According to the Pickle Report Mr. Miranda and his accomplice Lundell somehow obtained passwords and downloaded the documents either from the hard-drives remotely or via the server. They argued that there was a security flaw and that any of the Senate computers were open to hacking “if one knew how”. That apparently was a failure by the sysop…but neither Miranda nor Lundell bothered to tell the sysop to seal the breach.
CSPAN got moved off our basic cable last month. I only see it on the toobz, or liveblogged here. How can CSPAN not be accessible to everyone?
Like every other piece of the commons, it’s private now. And owned by someone, I’m sure. Remember when CSPAN went after the Speaker for putting YouTubes derived from CSPAN clips on her own website?
Corporations own America now.
Night folks…it’s past the witching hour (oooh, sorry sexism!) on the Left Coast and I want to find out whether the Obama leviathan picks up even more steam tomorrow! Ciao!
Bambinos and Bambinas
What the hell are you talking about? LHP is one of my favorites. WHAT?
Yes. And I love the way Hillary Clinton is fighting it. If the whole of leftblogistan doesn’t give her credit for this, I will know that it too has been purchased.
Thanks, that is the incident I was thinking of. Didn’t remember the facts, but do recall major bs justification re: security settings was invoked.
Great question you raise in light of new info. Taking it one step further… Why did he leak this now? Reminder that he could?
Night night.
Hello, Lake!
Anyone still up at this hour?
FunnyDiva
Hola FunnyD, just in and out, getting the day started here
Teddy, if memory serves C-SPAN was the brain child of Brian Lamb and (unless something has recently changed) the cable industry itself owns/sponsors it as a public service. They asked for some concessions (re filming rules, etc) from this congress before it was even installed and Pelosi said no. They had also been denied such requests by the previous congress.
I complained to my cable co that c-span wasn’t on basic available to me, but was in the next town. They said their basic coverage terms were by contract with the individual municipality that granted them their franchise. Seems my town preferred a stupid local access channel to c-span.
Might be worth contacting your local govt, congress critter or Pelosi’s office for specifics. They should be sensitive to political repercussions.
Hi Funny Diva. I’m here off and on (mostly off) fighting major connection problems (dial-up).
Hi, Arnie and Sunny.
Sorry, wandered off to watch some KO clips. They didn’t post the John Dean interview, unfortunately.
Sorry to hear about the connection problems. Dial-up can really suck. But so can cable broadband–the signal will randomly get so weak the router/wifi card don’t pick it up.
Anyhoo…I’m going to take a quick wander around some other blogs before bed.

Mornin all.
Mornin’, pups -
Would it be too much to ask for a week in which events finally break in *our* direction, for a change? This misery is gettin’ real old, real fast.
Good morning, pups. It’s Collins and Herbert today. In a column titled “The Revenge of Seamus” TOMC says she is going to miss Mitt. She says Mitt Romney always seemed surprised, and a little hurt, by the very clear contempt the other Republican candidates had for him. Well, it wasn’t just the other Republican candidates, you know… Mr. Herbert asks “Where’s the Big Idea?” He says that what’s missing in this presidential campaign is a bold vision of where the U.S. should be heading in these important early years of the 21st century.

The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I was at the bakery yesterday and picked up some croissants. I’ve got chocolate croissants for most of us, and some regular ones for the poor folks like my boss who are allergic to chocolate. Have a great day. I’ve got tons of work to do, so I’ll be an occasional lurker.
Obama’s vision of “change and harmony” isn’t sufficient? Hmmmmm.
Marion -
Wasn’t it you who introduced me to doghouseriley? If so, got a tidbit of info you’ll enjoy.
Any further local news about the explosion/fire? Seems to be totally off the radar screen on national news.
It probably was me. I’ve been a Doghouse fan for some time now. Info? Do tell…
Here’s a link to the local paper. As of this morning there are 4 confirmed dead and 4 still missing.
Checked in there earlier today and found the best analysis (or, at least the one closest to my own views on the subject *g*) of the MSNBC/Schuster brouhaha. There was one comment and, this is too freakin’ weird for words, turns out the guy is only 30 minutes over the hill from me. One of those woo-woo-woo moments and I’m gonna be forced to follow up and track him down in person. What fun!
Thanks for the linky; so sorry to hear about the casualities but rather expected something like that when they kept reporting six missing yesterday….not a good portent for the non-confirmed.
Oh, to have Doghouse and His Poor Wife in the vicinity…!
Judging from the pictures in the paper I’m surprised that the immediate casualty count was so low — the destruction seemed awfully wide-spread in the plant. The rather grim news is that there may be delayed casualties because many of the injured were severely burned. They airlifted some patients to the burn center in Augusta, and they brought a team from Augusta down here to work with our docs at Memorial. We’re a Level 3 trauma center, but don’t have a specialized burn unit, hence the team coming from Augusta.
Heard on the radio about 16 hospitalized with very severe burns. It sounded horrible.
Not doghouse, it’s the commenter who lives nearby but, from the way he writes, a most excellent individual to meet; award-winning educator.
Dog, that pic is frightening! Heard the part about the Augusta burn center on the news and it. does. NOT. sound good.
Very good. Thanks.
I owe Marion a big debt for pointing me in doghouse’s direction; the guy can flat out write. But, come to think of it, that’s how the old “political” bookmarks list turned into a tome….people whose opinions I trust saying, “Go check out so-and-so.”
A few minutes ago, I ran across a very interesting Dkos diary:
We are so blessed to be living in an age where all of this is right at our finger tips. I’d be going crazy without it.
Amen, friend! Problem is, I’m goin’ crazy even with it *slight tongue in cheek there*. Having the nets makes the reality of the cr*p that’s floating in the sewer of MSM realllllly obvious. What scares the spit outta me is how easily an administration like the one we have now could shut it down; and it don’t take no tin foil hat to visualize that!
Good Morning, Firepups! [waves hello to Marion and the early morning crew!!]
It’s overcast and cool in central Jersey, with rain mixed with snow in the forecast. I’m finally on the mend from the flu, which is good, since Mr. NJP has come down with a truly awful sinus infection, and needs me to take care of him. May be they should just quarantine us. I’m headed in to the office this morning, to try to catch up from missing 6 days of work.
I just had some cereal, and another mug o’ tea. But tomorrow–I’m baking a batch of buttermilk biscuits. Be good to one another.
Work for peace, every day.
Our access to all of this is admittedly fragile. We really need to get rid of this administration and discredit those who brought it forth, i.e., the mainstream media. In their case, the word “pimping” truly applies.
And a double amen to that one!
Good morning, all…
President Bush, CPAC-2008
“Listen, the stakes in November are high. This is an important election. Prosperity and peace are in the balance.”
Let’s sincerely hope it’s not the same predictor as President Bush’s redux-2001, inaugural address…!
http://www.theonion.com/content/node/28784
We truly can’t afford either literally or figuratively, any more of his, “prosperity and peace”…!
