FDL, in this readers opinion, has, and continues present, an even handed and objective view on the plusses and minuses of Obama and Hillary. If I didn’t think that was the case you wouldn’t be seeing this. ‘Cause I would not be here. I intend to vote Democratic next November regardless of whether the nominee’s name is Clinton or Obama.

OT, but as of today, add the new AG on list of officials who should be impeached, convicted and removed from office. This dude is a glum moldy white bread version of the previous incumbant. How many corrupt pompous lying ass old gasbags like this are judges, anyway? Scary.

I think it is partly because FDL has historically been more catholic in its political focus (welcoming all). Kos, of late, has been very nasty, and the red hot poker attacks have come over here too, especially since Edwards dropped out.

I generally agree. I think the Rezko-Obama post slided over into insinuendo and lack of fairness. But on the whole, I think it is a mistake to get too wrapped up in any presidential candidate, and FDL along with a few other info sources, is doing a good job of being as objective as possible.

Anyone’s favorite hero/heroine predisedential candidate cannot do enough to save us from current problems, even were he/her a super hero combo of saint, angel and Boddhisattva (sp?)

Take my guy, Edwards. Was there a good chance he was an opportunistic sleazeball who latched on grassroots progressivism in order to keep his political career in the spotlight a little longer? (my ans: yes). Did he make some really stupid decisions during his pres campaign(my ans: yes, particularly his goof on public funding). Did his record suck in some respects as much as HRC’s and Obama’s (my ans: yes).

So what? I saw him as the best available political tool to fix what problems he could as president.

Our problems require not just a good president, but more important, a much better and much more aggressive congress. And a big upward swing in broad based grass roots activism. And also poltical extincton of the Bush/Cheney crime gang, and their corporate sponsors.

So, I think people who are getting too wrapped up in individual candidates are misguided.

I like it here. I know that I can hear the good and bad about ALL candidates. Therefore I can make up my own mind with good info without being preached to. Jane, Christy and the rest of the Scooby gang run a great site. Thank God they’re around.

1) new money to facilitate rewards for information leading to the capture of terrorsits

First, I really don’t think that LHP should go anywhere to defend the piece. That would imply that there was something wrong with it. If DK doesn’t like it then tough.

Second, about the tinder comment, by censoring ourselves to ensure that we don’t give anyone else tinder for slamming us is like Congress not doing the right thing because they are afraid that the Repubs will attack them or they might get bad press. If the info is correct then sc**w it. Publish the info.

I think one or more followups on Rezko-Obama here at FLD would be a good idea, one that addresses different sides to issue.

A good source of objective info and analysis on the two Dem candidates very much needed. I hope FDL can take on that job and do it well and with flair, as it has many others.

It may have just been the exhaustion of the post Super Tuesday, and the superbowl game, and the departure of Edwards, but emotions have been VERY high of late. Well, I’m a long-time FDLer, and I was deeply disturbed by LHP’s hit piece.

I would not have been disturbed by an article that just attacked Obama for his long association with Rezko, the house deal, etc. But sexing it up with Ken Starr tactics, and coming up with completely unsupported suggestions that poker games were used to hide bribes to Obama, or that Rezko got Obama his job, was beyond the pale.

Sorry, but that piece deserves to be trashed.

I suggest reading DailyKos for the front page articles and ignoring the recommended diaries. Plenty of good stuff there, as well as in Diary Rescue.

But there was something wrong with the piece, lots in fact. It certainly wasn’t up to FDL’s usual high standard.

LHP could start by answering the criticisms in the DailyKos diary. No one’s calling for censorship, but if you make serious charges you should expect people to ask you to back those charges up, or retract.
