Now given that Edwards was polling well below the 15-25% needed to win a delegate in most districts ~ and that was back when he was actively running a campaign I have to admit I am a bit suspicious about this “stealth campaign” to bring votes to Edwards?

Who benefits from people making a “protest vote” that is unlikely to pick up a single delegate?

I’ve heard that almost all Edwards supporters in California are supporting Obama and that while Hillary’s voting polling numbers are staying steady…Obamas have shot up in the weeks since Edwards suspended his campaign.

I can only harbor some strong suspicions that this is a ploy by Clinton supporters to deter Edwards supporters from supporting Obama, since ANY votes shifting that direction would potentially lose delegates AND perhaps result in a defeat in California.

None of them carried any information about who was involved…no phone number, no Edwards campaign address or email. I called them and they said the Edwards Campaign is suspended and John isn’t seeking votes. “Students for Edwards” said that they were not involved either.

Who knows. I sure can’t figure it out. But Dobson’s photo over at TPM sure looks like Larry Craig.

If we followed this logic to the end then we would still be waiting for the release of the IA, NH, SC, FL, MI, and NV results until the final primary and/or caucus sometime in May or June.

The Students for Edwards group on campus said they didn’t know who might be involved (there is nothing illegal about it in my mind…simply strategically odd). The Edwards students said that they actually discussed whether they would continue to campaign for Edwards at a meeting last week, and most came to the conclusion that the campaign was over and that they were free to support other candidates. Some discussed which at that meeting and the vast majority leaned for Obama. There was discussion as well as to whether continued support for Edwards would serve as a “spoiler” to the candidate most likely to be supported by others, given the delegate distribution.

His view was it wasn’t someone who was a member of their group, ’cause he would have likely have heard about it.

No, that’s not from the Clinton campaign. Check out the JohnEdwards.com site and read the blogs. Given the chance, I would vote for Edwards becasue my conscience won’t let me vote for Clinton or Obama, particularly after confirming Obama’s views on and ties to the nuclear power industry.
I think the Democratic powers that be told Edwards to get out of the picture, that they wanted to make history in this election. Of course, early in 2007 the Repug pundits were saying that Edwards scared them the most so the media had to marginalize him. There’s no way big business was going to allow Edwards to be president.
