Looks that way. It’s so strange, too, because despite being a serial flip-flopper on every major issue the Republicans consider important Morman, he’s run such a flawless campaign.
Who could forget the dog on the roof?
His sons’ noble sacrifices?
His father marching with MLK?
His call to "double Gitmo"?
His, erm, problem with the help?
Yeah, I’m going to miss Willard, if only because that means the end of Baghdad Hewitt’s "Romney Rising" posts.

BT!
Hey…
Hey Ann in AZ…Haven’t seen you in a while…*g* That one was close…
I’d rather today be the end for McCain.
Romney done gone!
man, I am hoping he stays in the race, you know he “raised millions of dollars” for his campaign?
BY CONTRIBUTING TO HIMSELF!
I really, REALLY wish he’d stay in and “raise” more money
plus, don’t forget, the sooner the republicans have a one man race the sooner they can start campaigning against the democrats and start polishing their platforms and talking points
it’s gonna be sad to see him go as far as I am converned
no
really
Poor Mittens. I don’t see him endorsing McCain, as they seem to cordially loathe each other… What’s a robot to do?
/agrees, mccain is a far tougher candidate to beat then romney
he will be forced into endorcing him if he wants to stay in good graces with the party
But Romney is sure to end up with the “silver.”
OT, or is it? Stocks are tanking even worse than usual this morning. The MSM is claiming it is due to a decline in the all-important service sector (http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/080205/wall_street.html), but I have to wonder if the smart money on Wall Street sees McCain coming full speed ahead and understands that he may be the only human on the planet with less of a financial clue than Shrub.
Heads Up
Open Senate Intelligence (LOL) Committee Hearing on C-SPAN3.
Which would, in turn, raise the speculation that the fix is already in and Wall Street knows something about next January…
Wall St. don’t know nuttin. It swings between fear & euphoria.
Jello Jay scolding teh Rs. My goodness gracious.
I hope Mitt lives to keep fighting another day. It would be nice to see McCain’s head explode.
I saw McCain telling that lawyer joke yesterday. The distinguished looking lady standing in back of him looked totally disgusted with McCain. Maybe it was his mom. LOL. I hope to see lots more of McCain up to November. With coverage like that, Mike Gravel could be next President after the brokered convention.
anyone see dole punsishing limbaugh for not supporting mccain?
Another one into the sausage grinder.
I don’t care who they drag onto the ballot, they’re toast this time around.
now ur talk’n :D
Dole will cut off Rush’s viagra connection. Limp dicked Republicans getting nast with each other.
Given the winner-take-all aspect of most Repubican primaries, the nomination is likely to be decided today, after which the Republicans can stop beating each other and focus their efforts against Obama and Hillary. Also, they can begin canonizing Saint John.
It’s not going to be pretty.
Hi, Biodun! Actually, besides getting some income producing work done, I’ve been too depressed to read about the weak-kneed, lily-livered Dems that are about to throw away our Democratic Republic in favor of acceding to Bush’s demands to grant him plenary powers of the Presidency. So I took a few days off. If Michelle (I’d have to think about voting for Hillary) Obama hadn’t pissed me off royally today, I might not be here now.
I’ve still decided to vote for her husband, but somebody, preferably him, should tell her the facts of life. They are the same for all of us: it’ll be either Hillary or Obama on our side, and if she wins, it’ll be her or McCain. To say she’d have to think about voting for Hillary is the same thing as saying she’s entertaining the notion of voting for McCain instead, and not to vote at all also means potentially voting for McCain. That leaves our Federal Courts once again in the hands of Rethugs. What the hell is she thinking! IMO, she doesn’t really deserve to be First Lady. Maybe she could learn to STFU. Or is she thinking that Obama will pull a Lieberman and run as a third party candidate if he loses the primary? Oh, well, so much for my rant! And I haven’t even touched on the fact that Bush is sabotaging next year’s budget yet!
Romney Rising…ha!
Back from voting.
cool, now we get to watch all the Paulites go into a lather :)
Jello Jay displaying testicular fortitude.
I don’t know as that’s particularly encouraging either! Well, I’d rather have them euphoric than terrified… I think… maybe… ??? [sigh]
He’s already said that he intends to support the nominee. We’ll see.
More proof came out this morning that the economy is likely in/or headed towards a reccession. Wall Street will be crying for more rate cuts. “B-52″ Ben better watch out because he’ll be shooting blanks soon.
So jello ain’t a cube today?
Romney: “Freedom requires religion.”
Republics: “Not so much your religion.”
What did Jello Jay do now?
McCain would make a horrible president. His view of the world is so perverted.
Did you see Bill Maher last night on Larry King? He was ripping the Mormons up and down. Of course Larry was none too pleased.
It was Lieberman.
Hey BT and pups!
Sounds good to me. Count me in.
I dropped off the edge when Edwards sang his last & turned away.
Been drifting ever since. I probably should have been dutifully pestering our congresscritters as bidden by our noble leaders of the pack.
But I’ve BEEN doing that for ages, endlessly, and they surely are as sick of it as I.
I said all I could say to them. I was blunt. Polite but hard as a hammer, rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat. so telling them again is just not going to help. Helping the good one stay in office will help. Dumping the bad ones makes more sense than pretending to talk sense to them, since they’re worse than useless.
Thanks for staying on the scent, pups. I’ll try to keep up when I can.
Little bitty bright spot on the horizon: mittimitt on the skids? no kidding!!! I’ve been watching him a little lately. he reads his stage instructions quite regularly, just like junior, only he’s almost bright enough to have memorized them…. McLove is a scary scary dude. Come to think of it, so are all the pugs. And, if I see liarman in the front row of their supporters one more time….. blergh
So…. Obama’s the one, I guess. Just so long as he promises to consult early and often with Edwards, Kennedy, etc. etc. etc. etc.
I think he’s smart & savvy and committed to serve, so I think I can count on him. I hope so. Still, I’d like to see Edwards on the ticket or in the cabinet. We need what he would bring to the task.
Shame! He would have been easier to beat!
Bush is still madly pounding nails in the coffin of the GOP.
By the time November rolls around, crazy man is going to have pissed off even more voters, coupled with the negative ads that are soon to be flying thick and fast, seven years of insanity and an economy already over the cliff and gaining speed.
Yep, Good times.
Jello Jay gave a mild rebuke to Rs in his intro to the Senate Intelligence Committee Open Hearing.
Kit Bond up now. Sez we’re winning in Iraq.
Republics will one day look back at rhe Bush era as one of missed opportunities. They had the chance to put Reagan’s image on our currency and didn’t. The dime, the half dollar, perhaps most coins, might have Reagan’s hearty grin today had the Republics not been distracted by plundering opportunities.
To make up for it, I suggest that they officially add Reagan’s name to their party name.
BWA HA HA HA. Excellent way for me to start the morning. Thanks, twolf1.
I’m fairly new to this site, but I’ve noticed a pattern that I’d like to ask about. Why does the first person to reply always respond simply with the bloggers name (or in this case, initials) followed with an exclamation point. Am I missing something?
do tell?
Don’t you find this going on with a lot of Obama’s supporters (and maybe Barack himself)? Just askin…
-MS
I hope the coffin includes supply-side economic policies. These Bush deficits are going to be difficult to clean up.
Seems to be. It’s funny to see how Romney dropped after this was published. But McCain was surging even then.
Hi CF!
to me it’s a way to greet and thank the poster
must be somethin’ religious? NAH. not quite. but just fun. Try it.
keeps the adrenaline going…
Yeah, you’re missing the in-breeding, i.e. tradition. Have you been here for zed declarations? Comment # used to start with zero, aka zed, & some (many) still declare first that way. Sometimes a FDL hero gets salutations at the beginning, such as Fitz! Bear with us. You’ll get used to it. The benefits offset the costs.
On Glenn Beck’s pathetic radio program, he said Romney is up 7% above McCain in California according to one poll. Of course, the reich wingers at this point will say anything to take any “power” away from McCrazy.
Can you imagine if McCrazy won the presidency (stolen election, of course) this year? Bubbye republic party!
interesting! thanks.
DNI McConnell up on C-SPAN3.
Sez Protect America Act needed.
110th congress is painful to watch.
Nice, that. If I ever get there in time, I’ll give it a go.
Thanks.
I do think McCain will be the toughest to beat. However, he seems far less stable and less able, as a speaker and campaigner, than he did in 2000. His movements adn expressions are eratic and don’t always coicide with the statements they’re supposed to be related too. He may have a harder time getting the MSM and independents to love him. Also, his support of comprehensive immigration reform may go ways in immunizing the Democratic candidate against a large zenophobic uprising. I know he can reverse on that issue, but it may not be enough.
-uh- stranger things have happened, in case u hadn’t noticed.
scares me witless, & i didn’t even have enuf wits to strike a match before.
Maher was just saying how the leader of the church is also a prophet who speaks directly to God. Maher pointed out that Mormons accepted polygamy until Utah was admitted statehood. To gain admittance they had to disavow polygamy. Of course they dropped it faster than a hot potato. Also Maher pointed out that Mormons were segregationists until the late 1970’s. it really made King squirm. Maher was just pointing out how silly it is that a religion changes its tune to whatever wind is blowing at the time.
McConnell sez we should be afraid of terrists.
I would certainly think so, it’s so damn obvious! Pisses me off because he may actually have the same attitude, and that’s not good at all! Then again, he hasn’t exactly denied it!
Romney is Beck’s boy. In case you didn’t know, Beck is a Mormon. I’ll give Mormons one thing. They are extremely clannish(Meaning they look out for one another).
careful there youngin’. you’re competing with masters of the art.
in the meantime, WELCOME to the Lake! ;->
I do. That is one of the things that has always bothered me about the Obama campaign. It’s either their guy or the highway. But I think that if Hillary ultimately gets the nomination most of them will support her. I know I will.
I have Yes! Which caused me even more confusion!!
Glad I could get that all cleared up. I love the site!!
All true. Read Under the Banner of Heaven—A Story of Violent Faith by Jon Krakauer.
Mormons have to be clannish considering how they are viewed by many non-mormons, particularly evangelicals.
You got that right.
Given his age, McCain’s pick for veep will be quite important to everyone.
I just came back from voting. Inked in Obama, but it broke my heart to see Edwards at the top of the ballot and not be able to vote for him *sigh*. But at the end of the day, it has to be a Dem. I would vote for a rancid, stinking sock if that sock was a Democratic sock.
I will vote for and support whichever Dem. wins the primary.
I think I have a lot of company.
It’s a spiral. Their clannishness is offputting to everyone else, so they engender enmity thereby.
OT, but it should put your minds at ease:
I just read where the Bush Misadministration is monitoring the markets with great interest.
I’m
very afraidrelieved.Don’t forget about Kolob…
The way I see it…when Huckabee won in Iowa, the republic party saw exactly what their party had become, they then panicked and realized they had to prop up a ‘war hero’ who loves war, so they chose the ‘ugly guy’ over the ‘plastic & perfect guy’ such as Romney.
Of course, none of these republics like McCain. For the first time in a long time, the republics are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Hell! Even Ann Coulter is now saying she’d vote for Hillary over McCain and I don’t think she’s saying that for the reverse psychology to get her party members to vote for McCain either! She too is desperate and feeling the weight of how screwed up they’ve all become.
Which leads me to think this: if Obama gets on the ticket, out will come Newt Gingrich/Jeb Bush to run for the presidency. Oh boy! Because the reich wingers are so desperate right now, they’d write in ole Newty very quickly I suspect.
thanx, I also youtubed some of it, he said something like;
‘really, they promise you your own planet, that’s a little beyond social security’
pretty good stuff there
Well, welcome.
Why don’t I have C-Span3?
When the Libby trial was going on, there developed a sort of competition to be the first commenter on a post. At the time, the commenters paid tribute to the prosecutor, Patrick Fitzgerald by making the first comment “Fitz!” Now that the trial is over, the competition continues, but now we pay tribute to the post’s author instead. Initials are used for the sake of speed. But it’s all just a silly game we play for the fun of it; there is no depth to this, no secret code or anything.
Oh yes. I know ole Glenny is a Mormon. ;-)
why do they hate mccain?
I don’t get this
Well I watched him yesterday scolding Feingold via EW. Jay seems to think that Probable Cause is an outdated quaint concept. He also believes that any information obtained illegally by the US program should be allowed to be used by the government. His views strike me as being straight out of the Soviet Politburo days.
Lol. It won’t be necessary to go deeper than a yellow dog.
On my cable, it’s part of a higher price package. You can watch online http://www.c-span.org/watch/cs…..8;Code=CS3
He ain’t called Jello Jay for nuttin’.
somebody needs to ask point blank to one of these idiots;
“what do you think will stop an official from using the cover of their office to steal?…to gain market information and become millionairs overnight on the backs of you and me?
tell me, what do you think will stop that from happening?”
bingo
BTW, What was he scolding TEH Repubs about today?
Badwater, you are the master of understatement!
It’s pure nonsense, but it’s seems to be unstoppable.
Because in the minds of the warmongering, “we love to torture anyone who doesn’t agree with us!”, “spying on Americans is patriotic”, crowd….McCrazy is a liberal. Huh? He’s too liberal? Yes. That’s what the wingers are saying on the radio and online. Is Mitty liberal? Yep! Does Ron Paul have some liberal views? Yep! And what about Huckabee? Nope, but he represents the Fundy Zealots that the republics want to keep under wraps after having one of these weirdos running our country for the past eight years!
See?
They’re stuck between a rock and a hard place and I love watching it. I will cringe, however, if Newty and Jebby come out of the shadows. The Powers That Be will definitely make sure there is a mandate in this election with these two running and they’ll steal the election worse than any other time they have.
Have I mentioned how much I despise the republic party today? LOL
OT,
I am not sure as I watch McConnell on mute whether he looks like a mortician or bureaucrat, but I suspect our civil liberties are gone.
I can sense the FEAR coming out of him.It oozes from this whole gang… all they have left.
General incompetence in foreign policy. Stuff like not catching OBL & diverting resources to Iraq.
The constitution and a national security state cannot co exist.
If Cheney decides to give up the VP office, Jeb is ready and much younger than McCain.
I have never discounted the Jeb! factor.
Why bother? We can always sell bonds to pay the interest.
If that were going to happen it already would’ve. Cheney’s there at least until U.S. bombs Iran.
If they did catch OBL and had a fair trial we would find out that the narrative was BS and that all eyes would then turn to the national security state and their mischief.
They will never catch him and he will never have a fair trial. Bank on it.
I do have to credit Jay with one good line. At a roast of Pat Buchanon, shown on C-Span some years ago, Rockefeller said that Buchanon’s idea of a good weekend was the rent the movie Roots and watch it backwards.
watch and listen to him for awhile.
he’s certifiably terrifying when he starts babbling about his plans, real &/or imagined. he’s the crazy uncle they should give some tranquilizers and put to bed, nice and gentle-like, and … watch carefully to make sure he don’t run out nekkid into the nite.
if he gains the reins, what we’re in now will seem like a picnic.
jmho
ymmv
He is creepy for sure. Did you see Harry Reid “lambaste” (I use that term lightly, because Harry never yells. I want yelling from Harry! Lots of it please!!!) McConnell this morning by calling him Orwellian? Loved it. Harry went down the list of all the republic criminals that have come through under republic leadership in the House & Senate and then went on to list out the “pet projects” of the Democrats in the bill, which is money for our soldiers, the elderly, those who need help now throughout the winter for their heating costs, and others who need the help. He basically was telling McConnell to shit in his hat and pull it over his ears. ;-)
Elaine Meinel Supkis’s blog Money Matters provides world monetary insight with a dash of parable humor.
http://elainemeinelsupkis.type…..y_matters/
GWB is desperately trying to maintain the status quo of America’s all-consuming love affair with cheap loans and imported goods. Our largest export is the death and destruction industrial military complex. The US economy’s GDP consists of 73% consumerism. The banks and Wall Street have fallen face down into their vomit from the drunken frenzy of the last seven years. The G-7 are meeting in Toyko this week begging for more free money. Their drunken singing of Sheryl Crow’s “All I wanna do is have some fun” fratboy kegger party is over.
The piratesThe central banks and Wall Street’s biggest fear; a post consumerist society.I LOVES me some Mitt.
I loves me some Got Mitt signs.
Sometimes I think goopers nominating a mormon leader was a great big gift.
McConnell sez Chavez economic policies are leading Venezuela economy to ruin. I guess you gotta know one to see one.
Lends to my hypothesis I spoke about over at EmptyWheel. I believe some of our Congressional members honestly believe that we are dealing with an administration so incompetent that they need any and all tools to help them perform the basic function of protecting the citizenry. Even if it means temporarily giving away our constitutional rights.
Imagine in a year if HRC or Obama were asking for these type of powers. The GOP would be flipping out. They did when Clinton sought them with the Carnivore program. Oh the hypocrisy of the GOP.
vote for any dem except not for a dem who doesnt stand against telcom immunity and warrantless wiretaps.
OB and HRC better do the right thing in the Senate this week, or they are dead to me.
remember the pic of that startled prairie dog?
What a fighter that Harry Reid is!
I find McConnell’s statement appallingly shallow. It’s not even as informative as a NYT article. For this we pay $40 billion per annum!
Maybe our collective phone calls will tell Harry to stand up to this railroading. Seem that every bit of legislation is done this way to emasculate the Legislative Branch.
And these congresscritters believe that be giving an incompetent administration the tools to lie, cheat & steal, such administration will do a better job? Defies logic!
understood.
agreed.
and we’re all cooked to a crisp.
If anyone, ever, picked jebby their life expectancy would be about the same as 1st Lt in Vietnam. The bushies would have the prez dead before the ink was dry on the inauguration.
Hayden sez CIA working better with foreign counterparts (and then tries to sell us the Brooklyn Bridge).
Why do they wear military uniforms when not working for the military? Intimidation tactics, I ’spose.
I don’t have it on my cable TV either. So I have to watch it on the computer thru the Cspan site. I usually use Firefox and put the Cspan in a separate window.
Too late for that.
It’s okay if republics do it! See? Very Orwellian if you ask me.
After seeing Cheney, the Bushies may have decided that stealing is much easier for a VP. VP Jeb can really boost those family trust funds.
Are you being sarcastic? LOL Harry did have the last word so Mr. Orwellian couldn’t respond back. Isn’t that what a chickenshit does when a bully is around? Say something fast and then run inside the house? *smacking hand over mouth quickly* I think it is.
Hey, I suppose it’s better than Harry saying nothing, right?
in response to the erudite discussion this weekend with Tom H—
Sheldon Whitehouse called it the Stampede America Act yesterday while he was talking about the unprecedented powers, the faiure of the act to allow courts to enforce rules on issues they were charged with overseeing and the general fecklessness of Bush.
Classic psychological projection. W et al do it almost every single time. Keep your ears open for it & you’ll be amazed at how often it happens.
Don’t forget “who let the Bling bling dogs out– woof woof.
i have a better use for that man-size safe than shooter does…
Like that Whitehouse.
I will take the Venezuela model over greedy capitalism any day of the week
This makes for interesting reading daily.
50% of CIA personnel has been hired since 9/11. WOW.
there are parallels here!
http://www.newline.com/properties/willard.html
to quote the last line from the above link:
When Willard’s world is turned upside-down by tragedy, those responsible must answer to his rapidly growing pack of ravenous, fearsome friends.
in the end……williard will take up with them…to the end.
ah how life parodies hollywood…..or is that the other way round – go figure
It could be McCain/Cheney ‘08. The VP has no term limits.
OT
Phoenix Woman says the Super Tuesday distraction may bring FISA to a vote today…love those little birdies who feed our Blogswarm.
Amazing what Cboldt and others have taught us Thanks!
One eerie thing to me is that the Republicans are still opposed to a FISA amendment which would sunset the current law in 4 years, rather than 6; this at a time when there is a fair possibility of a Democratic president.
Fort from State Dept. INR is up. Since that’s the one that got it right, I’ll be curious to listen to what he sez.
The decent ones quit.
Just got back from voting. Despite registering in time I wasn’t on the list, had to use provisional ballot. Machines had a paper receipt. Everybody working there was really kind especially when I told them I had just moved here 3 days ago. Was the first one in line at 7am, but suddenly there were a dozen more behind me. The poll workers were surprised to see so many people for a primary. The guy with the provisional ballots looked at me and said, “Democrat?” Now how did he know?
with any oluck mccai’s vp pick being critical because of his age will be as frequent a MSM meme as MAVERICK this and MAVERICK that.
Or get outed.
Thank goodness for mortality
whutchutawkin?! bionic veep? mankinda term limits ain’t t’only sort.
What is funny is that I remember Jeb coming out for Mittmentum way back when the race first started. I never heard anything from him after that. I wonder if the Jebster pulled his support at any time because he wasn’t campaigning for Mitt in FL.
Perhaps because you didn’t look depressed.
Yep. The republics are masters at it. Harry, however, was pointing out to McConnell how hypocritical the republic party is to say that the Democrats are cramming the bill full of ‘pet projects’ which are to help out needy Americans, while at the same time, the republics have stolen money, have abused their own powers (Harry pointed out how Delay changed the rules of the House to make himself feel better when he was connected to Abramoff), and have basically ruined the foundation of our country. It was a beautiful sight….though I wished history in the future would have shown Harry yelling and pointing at McConnell! Nope. Just a low-keyed speech. Oh well. I suppose it’s better than saying nothing. LOL
I would like to see the graphic of how many quit because of what their agency has become and what the administration asked them to do
I know. I just never saw that stat before to realize how huge the turnover was. Of course, there’s probably been some increase in headcount at CIA since 9/11 too.
Nothing sinister I am sure. Look at the Democratic turn out so far this primary/caucus season. It’s beating the pants off the Rethuglican turn out.
You wanna talk about someone well deserving of a blog swarm? He fits the bill. Don’t tell us, tell him. In fact, we all should! He needs a re-education camp!
707!
Wouldn’t it be juicy if the FISA bill sunsets and goes back to it’s original intention (protecting American’s privacy while at the same time having a paper trail) and right after a Democrat takes the presidency, Osama is found using this “old FISA” law? Personally, I’d love that a lot. ;-)
What’s going on with FISA?
Is anything going to happen today?
If not, why not.
Does anyone really believe there is an iota of difference between McCain, Romney, Clinton, or Obama? They all are in the pockets of the Wall Street, the banks, and corporations. Which one of these idiots is going to institute policies that increases the average Joe’s economic status, national healthcare, job creation instead of job exportation, and living wage implementation? Restore good fiscal policy for the 90% and tax the 10%? Target tax free off-shore pirate havens? Cut military spending, withdrawal of our Robocop World policing, and restoration of civil liberties? Which one?
you were smiling, sweetiepie! ;->
Oh well, Fort an empty suit. His prepared statement sounds like one of those empty-of-content space fillers that investment bankers always lard their presentation books with. And he is from Goldman, Sachs. I have vastly revised down my opinion of that firm since the W admin.
http://www.state.gov/r/pa/ei/biog/72993.htm
“Democrat? Now how did he know?” ~ Egregious
Reminds me of the 2006 mid term election in the town I was living in at the time. Right after I put my paper ballot into the machine, I did a “woohoo!” like my team had just won the championship, and this old lady sitting next to the machine said to me, “A vote for change?”. LMAO
Yeah, but I’ve just always wondered why the Republicans outside of the executive branch wanted the vast executive powers if there was ever a chance of a Democratic president. I always wanted them to imagine Janet Reno, who they portrayed as evil incarnate, as AG again. I also always wanted to ask the NRA what they thought about the vast increase in executive power to monitor their correspondence.
yes, we all believe there are huge differances between any republican vs any democrat
the republicans have to answer to their base and their base are mindless marionttes
the democratic base has to answer to us and we are educated and will unelect them the very next election
Mulleer sez building anti-terrist facility to be on par with their anti-crime one.
DOH! Of course, thanks for waking me up.
Sort of OT
Durbin is worth watching on Cspan-2. Apparently the shitheadinchief, in his new budget, has cut off funding for the illegal invasion in the middle of next year.
my new word, just invented for the republican base;
‘marionittwits’
tee
marionettes
Muller talking about preventing cyber attacks. Seems to involve a lot of “public-private” partnerships. Bwahahahaha.
Yep. Every trick in the book.
That is a WOW. Is it due to an enormous expansion or attrition? I imagine a combination of both. That tells me that ther is a lot of inexperience in the CIA.
No way ..
silver goes to Huckabee. McCain will need some support in the south, and Mitt is not the answer.
As an afterthought, now I’m not sure whether you meant he’d come in second, or get the nod for veep.
Yeah, both. I’d like to see the dissagregation between expansion vs. quits. And the best people quit under Goss, which was his raison d’etre.
I would say it’s because republics are backwards thinkers (regressives) and can’t see what the future brings for their actions today. This is why most modern day Americans can’t relate to this party anymore, because it’s become so obvious that this party feels more comfortable living in a lawless country, because they don’t want to have to remember the laws and they certainly forget that their party will not always rule the roost. Will they support Hillary spying illegally without a paper trail? Nope! They’ll fight it tooth and nail and we bloggers will point out their hypocrisy once again, and the republic party members will forget what they did from 2000-2008 and will say, “We never did that! We respect the Constitution, this country and her laws. See, look at the flag pin I’m wearing”.
Bunch of dumbasses they are…
with support like that….
That’s good. Can I use it if I give you my “warpervs” for those who really get off on killing folks who aren’t ‘Mericuns?
Well, the first givaway might have been that you weren’t foaming at the mouth… Glad to hear the polls were busy.
I meant “silver” in the sense of second place in the primaries, not second place on the ticket. I was mocking him because that’s what he said every time he finished behind McCain, riffing on his 00 Olympics role.. No, he’ll never get the Veep slot.
That to me is the big question as to why the Republicans weren’t exercising their oversight authority. They basically let Boosh/Darth Cheney/Rove crap all over them. They handed Bush the scissors that he used to cut off their cajones.
Well, I’m off to go vote! See y’all later! Have fun. If anything bad happens, please don’t tell me; I don’t wanna know!
We voted in a democratic congress for change. And all we got is a Reid and Pelosi ‘impeachment is off the table’ sing-a-long emceed by George Bush. More of the same. Nothing changes until we have public financed campaigns. Until then, the unwashed masses get to vote for the corporate choices.
I got the impression that Porter Goss started a pogrom against dedicated civil servants.
HEY!!! I resemble that! (just kidding… *G*)
Well I was, a little, but I think it was from the latte.
Give us a report when you return.
we have a deal
There is a factory that produces agentclones preprogrammed with skills such as murder, waterboarding, lying and general ignorance.
oops…unintentional of course
A reminder to those voting today: YOU CAN VOTE FOR EDWARDS IF HE’S ON YOUR BALLOT OR YOU CAN WRITE HIS NAME IN…even though he’s not in the race anymore. It’s not considered a wasted vote at this point. The caucus/primaries is to vote for the person you want and not for the candidate picked out by the ROM (republican owned media). This is probably the only time your voice will be heard loud and clear, because as we all know, Diebold seems to be the one to choose the president come election time. Dammit. ;-)
They were rewarded for exercising no oversight with large quantities of plunder.
I was just gonna say!
perris, you shouldn’t cast aspersions on our Marion
we will do our best to un elect them, and then see if the next group doesn’t do what they are elected for
There are three serious defenses they would make.
1. Senate is dysfunctional because of 60 vote requirement.
2. W will veto everything. (That’s why food stamps & unemployment insurance aren’t in the stimulus bill.)
3. Reid & Pelosi need to keep the Blue Dogs in the fold.
I’m as disapponted as you are, but you need to put yourself n their shoes & recognize their difficulties as legitimate.
OT:
A book salon with Frank Sesno (”The Commission”) would be very interesting…
http://wamu.org/programs/dr/08/02/05.php#18145
It certainly would be interesting to see if the attrition rate was higher than normal at any given time. Goss is not a nice man.
they needed to do what we elected them to do, bring enemies of the state and criminals against america to the bar of justice
they refused, they need to be removed
Goss’s whole raison d’etre was to get rid of the good CIA agents who opposed the “reality creation” school.
That’s what we’re working on. It’s a long slow process.
Yes. During Watergate, there were some honorable Republicans, like Lowell Weicker and Bill Cohen, who understood the separation of powers and fought to maintain it. In this case, I’ve seen no one like that (sorry Arlen).
there isnt a gooper in the federal govt that I would throw a lifebelt to in a storm.
Chenney has Big Love for Romney.
Hayden on torture. Army manual is not relevant to CIA, any more than army manual on grooming would be. CIA must not be constrained.
Bond asks why enhanced techniques are critical.
When asked about that yesterday, Bush’s budget director said that he did it because the congress is in the habit of funding the war in pieces. See? It’s Congress’s fault. Bush is just doing what they want!!
I wouldn’t mind if hagel survived
Patience.
We’ve already made a significant difference in the Congress. You can’t expect a bunch of newcomers, who are greatly outnumbered, to come in and change everything right away, although it’s obvious we need new leadership however.
We have a real chance of getting perhaps the leading fighter against the Military Industrial Complex by making sure Blue America candidate Alan Grayson gets elected. This is very exciting!

Onward ho Liberal Soldier!
Sidenote: With Edwards dropping out, I just started reading Obama’s “Dreams” book (a gift from a few years ago), and gotta say I think the guy is quite Liberal thankfully. He wrote it around 15 years ago, and talks about in his entire life, he’s had to learn how to “fit in.” Once he wins people over, he can start getting them to believe in his ideas. This is exactly what he’s been doing in his campaign and U.S. Senate time. I know many around here are worried about some of this stuff, but I feel pretty good about it more and more. Regardless, an Obama will help swing the pendulum more towards justice. Vote!
Now I see; like the difference between the Wehrmacht and the Gestapho.
Mitt the Shite == John Kerry (R)
I was so hoping he would make it into the general (just a bit more than Rudy, since Rudy is an easy win…but should anything go wrong and he make it the end of the world would have been upon us).
I find it so amusing that ANY republican would want Romney, because these were the same people who said John Kerry was too wealthy and too yuppie looking.
Oh that’s right. Republicans are hypocrites and can’t remember what they did yesterday. Nevermind.
I wish I could cast a vote for Grayson!
Hayden sez CIA has detained fewer than 100 & 1/3 have had enhanced techniques used, 3 waterboarding: KSM, AZ, Masiri, cause though attacks on homeland imminent.
He then tried to sell us the Brooklyn Bridge.
I wonder if he can pee for himself
They’ve vote for the corporate interests, their financial interests, and their future corporate/board of directors jobs first. They will vote for our interests when penalities and imprisonment are instituted. Until then, I’m not holding my breath.
I read Obama’s Hope book. Thought it was just as empty & glib as his speeches.
Mueller argues that immunity for carriers is only thing that will allow FBI to do its job.
Ask Condi.
Hence the Double Gitmo talk.
Hayden reinforces Mueller. CIA lost coorperation from corps on the revelation of the SWIFT program.
Yikes!! Is this the first time they have actually admitted waterboarding?
The Job being illegally spying on Americans.
DiFi up. Asks who carries out coercive interrogation. Hayden sez it’s a mix of CIA & private contractors. Not aware of a CIA detention facility where it’s only contractors. Not being outsourced.
Don’t think so. Think those 3 have been admitted previously.
you don’t need to hold your breath, all you need to do is your best to unelect them when they vote for their power rather then for their country
of course democrats make a differance over republicans, they will answer to us or they will be out of work
DiFi asks abut Piero on 60 Minutes. Mueller sez he established a bond with Saddam Hussein to extract the info they got from him. FBI policy is not to use coercive techniques.
and we’ve prosecuted war criminals for water boarding
HELLO…ANYONE HOME, ARREST THESE YELLOW BASTARD PUSSY SHIT MAGOTS
have you see the Yes We Can video?
All armed forces use Army Field Manual (ahem what about military contractors????). CIA is only one that uses coercive techniques.
They will suffer just like Scooter.
I wanted to share, Silver State Helicopters filed Chapter 7 Bankruptcy meaning 2,700 students have nothing for their tution of $70,000 they paid to the firm, to become helicopter pilots.
Sheldon Whitehouse up
Morning, all. Coffee’s good. Sounds like all the pups are ready for the big day. I am so looking forward to this and don’t plan to get to bed early tonight. FORWARD !
Telecommunists with impunity.
I will. Just got ready to leave, but before I go, I have a question to pose: Isn’t it essentially unconstitutional to basically negate the fourth amendment as they’re intending to do with the FISA revision? If it is, why haven’t any of the Senators brought that up, and also, if it is, what would it take to get the Supreme Court to say so once they pass it? If a new administration appoints an AG with guts, could the new AG press a case to throw out the FISA fix on the basis that it negated Article Four of the Bill of Rights without the correct procedures to amend the constitution, ie., a two thirds vote in all the States like we went through with the ERA? What am I missing here? Hopefully, by the time I return from voting and shopping, the questions will be thoroughly discussed and the answers will be found. Since I can’t see how I’d find them, will someone send me some definitive answers on my facebook page, please?
I don’t know about that one, but the book with his life history (Dreams of My Father) is fascinating to me. He’s been through a lot, and he’s been very Liberal through all his life, although I’m just getting to his Harvard years, so I’m curious if his opinions change much as he gets older.
Whitehouse extracts from head of DIA that they don’t use coercive techniques no matter what the ticking timebomb might be.
Whitehouse asks about W acolyte op-ed about how politicized the Iran NIE is. Talk about softballs.
Yes I saw that video. Funny enough…didn’t really like it. Just didn’t think the music or editing were very good, but the theme is cool.
McConnell defends Iran NIE, including making it public.
OT – Delaying tactics at work, they are having a “Request Attendance” vote in the Senate.
Jay recesses for 6 minutes owing to senate floor shenaignas. Bayh asks Q anyway, about Iran NIE.
I got back from voting a little while ago. I was number 70 (Dem) in my little 10k population Hudson Valley town. The poll watchers said that the turnout had been good on the D side.
THIS LINK
belongs on the colon powell thread dowstairs but it is a must read

Jane has a brand spanking new post up about Chelsea Clinton being fair game. Sounds upsetting to me. Also, sorry gang, had to let the dogs out before I went and the new post came up before I was out the door. Hope you’ll still consider my questions?
Where there’s death, there’s hope.
And way down in EPUville:
OT-voted just now & was it crowded! In Santa Monica, not unexpected. Many Dems, a few Repubs. Got my “I voted” sticker & I’m finally going in to work now. But first…
