Five Years ago, February 5, 2003 — a date which will live in wankery — The United States was suddenly and deliberately attacked by loathsome and venal forces of empire of the PNAC.

It was on that day that Colin Powell decided to spend all of his credibility to sell George Bush’s War. The war John McLovin’ wants to last 100 years. A war that costs us more than $100 billion every year "off budget" (and probably about $2 trillion so far and counting down the road even if it ended tomorrow) and thousands more dead this year.

I don’t know about you, but I have not even gotten a f***ing t-shirt! Meanwhile, a lot of fine and brave young men and women (and some not so young) of the United States Military have gotten beautiful funerals and prosthetic limbs. A lot of Iraqis, some brave, some not, have gotten even less.

But George Bush got himself reelected by starting an unwise war, planning it badly, and then using it as an issue to accuse everyone else but he and his sycophants of being cowardly defeatists as we march onward toward the ever undefined, ever more elusive, "Victory".

Damn, how flippin’ awesome!

Ah, but the memories (most memories not eligible for treatment for you Veterans).

1. The Power Point presentation of the world’s most dangerous "biochemical weapon labs" that turned out to be used to inflate balloons.

2. Powell holding up a vial of what he purported to be ANTHRAX (remember that stuff — and how it was used to sell the war?). In actuality, it must have contained crack.

3. The reaction of our brave, brave Democratic candidates, except Howard Dean. Note the especially wankerous Joe Lieberman’s reaction.

I joined with Senators John McCain, Bob Kerrey, Trent Lott, and others to introduce the Iraqi Liberation Act, which made clear that containment of Saddam Hussein was no longer enough to protect America’s security or world security. Instead, it said, we needed to assist the Iraqis in changing their regime and ending Saddam Hussein’s brutal rule. That bill passed. It has been the law of our land for five years now.

Yes, some people have a dream, like Dr. King but Joe Lieberman dreams the dream of the eternal war that he helps create so that others can fulfill his dream with their death and dismemberment. Thank you so effing much. Let’s give him a Medal of Freedom already!

So what are your memories of this "special day" in American history? And will there be gifts?
