Buckwheat Zydeco - Ma 'Tit Fille
Midnight in New Orleans means it's Super FAT Tuesday! So find a Kucinich supporter and give them a hug (bless their heart). Be sure to ask for a paper ballot and mind your chads. I miss you Buckwheat!

Let’s get Fat!
hi ES
Eureka! You have the best taste in music, and such varied interests. GOOD for you.
ES remember katrina!
Eureka “Zydeco” Springs!
Hi ES…. Hillary is on my TeeVee…. Letterman…
Here in WA, we have a primary AND a caucus. Weird, but whatever. All the delegates are decided by the caucus, none by the primary (for Dems anyway.) So while I still don’t know who I’ll caucus for, I’m voting for John Edwards in the primary.
Yes, it’s officially meaningless, but it’ll make me feel good to vote for the guy I really, really, really wanted to be president.
It’s time for Obama to reach across the aisle to the progressives. Yes, the aisle has moved since last he looked. http://firedoglake.com/2008/02.....-election/
Laissez les bon temps roulez!
Darn it, I was gonna dive tonight before joinin the conversation. Here goes anyway.
Boing, front somersault, not quite straight in, a bit of a splash.
I’m out of practice, but will work on it. :)
nice - got the bulgarian judge wet
Redshit I answered your comment about McCain taking matching funds downstairs… He is….
Hmmm, that’s not gonna help my score.
got you points in my book :)
EPU’d:
We had about 30 or so people at our organizing meeting for tomorrow afternoon-evening’s Matanuska-Susitna Borough Democratic Party Caucus. In 2004, 35 people showed up for the caucus itself. This year we’re planning for between 200 and 300.
Zero F and blowing 6 knots out of the north.
Eureka “Zydeco” Springs!
I like that.
Here, have some Funky Meters.
Laissez les bon temps roulez!
Disappointed that I can’t vote for the candidate I like tomorrow.
Lmao , Jesus.
Dear California Democratic Party,
Thank you very much for inviting me and my fellow Green Party members to participate in your Primary Election tomorrow. I am happy to accept! Please put an X next to Mr. Obama’s name for me. And on a paper ballot, if you please.
Sincerely,
Hmmm.
Damn, ET, that’s fabulous!
Has anyone been to the French Quarter since Katrina? If so, does it still have the Big Easy just this side of tawdry charm?
Way to go!
Someday, I am going to clear the decks.
awwww - the Meters! ES - :D
Hi, Busted.
*hand on hip* And why not?
Right on ET!
Alaska has come alive this year.
Suzanne.. I really liked that youtube.. In my favorites now.
Hi ToW.
night all
pain free sleep wishes, tex (hand on monitor)
Bummer. We need to change this primary system.
Elmore has been there twice, both Saint games at the Dome… The French quarter is pretty much renovated & looks like nothing happened.
Gnite Tex.
OT - Drag that C-SPAN 2 isn’t rerunning today’s Senate FISA/PAA debates tonight.
Big Chief (not the tablet) with Deacon John on the street. Where is Mary? I think this is in the Garden District not to far from Tulane??
madmom is our resident new orleans person.
bye
I don’t think it’s that clear-cut, based on that link and other stuff that I’ve read. He applied for matching funds, but he didn’t actually accept them. Whether he can back out now is unclear, as the article says.
I’m excited about tomorrow and also thankful that the endless polls will end and we get actual votes.
hey, i just want to throw cyber beads on all the firepups! happy fat tuesday!
I can’t stand that mean Bulgarian judge!
Thanks, Skippy! And no, I’m not flashing my boobs.
(sigh) my boobs are too old to be flashed
Skippy!
You deserve a truckload of beads!
Awesome B.A.D. Weekend!
I am still cruising around checking out new sites. Thank you!
Dam and we wanted a show!!
McCain First Presidential Candidate Declared Eligible for Primary Matching Funds in 2008 Race
Also in WA. Thanks for explaining how this works to me. We also voted by mail today and were not sure we would caucus on the 10th because we did get the point. Now, we will.
Gravity catches up with everyone:>)
OT: Apparently, Senator Leahey has rolled back one of Bush’s power grabs: http://www.dailykos.com/storyo.....107/449417
A year and a half ago, Bush managed to get control of the National Guard of all states and to get the right to send them into any other state. It’s claimed that recently those provisions of Bush’s preparations for a coup have been recinded. (The above link is all I know.)
Neener, neener, neener!
taking glare off stun
Years ago I used to wander into the Cafe De Mundo and sober up on cafe au lait and beignets. It was open air cafe and damn hot and humid. In the distant background, through the dense fog, you could hear the barge traffic on the Mississippi and muted jazz from the clubs down the street. I scratched out wretched poetry on the paper napkins, chatted-up the waitresses and waited for the sun to rise.
I’m so glad! But the caucus is this Saturday, the 9th, not the 10th. That was probably just a typo, but wanted to make sure.
OT: Oh, how cheery. After May 11, residents of most states may be prohibited from flying. Maybe that‘ll be the thing that triggers general insurrection… /snark
That sounds nice. I have a detailed picture of that in my mind.
Thanks I knew it was Saturday, but got my days mixed up. Since I retired, I have to look at the calendar just to see what day of the week it is. I can still find my car in the parking lot though, at least for now.
Number one Digg story at the moment: “Is John McCain mentally stable enough to be President?”
Heh.
*sigh* Gawd I can smell and hear and taste it all right now. Put down the whiskey and have a cup o chicory so thick you need a fork with a Picayune cigarette.
OT: Oh, how cheery. Democratic Party using Internet Voting for overseas voters tomorrow. Good grief, does that crew never learn?
Have you been to Cafe de Mundo?
I look forward to retiring and having the same trouble keeping track of days!
Hi ES, thanks for the Zydeco links — love that music. Here’s an unusual SoCal Zydeco band that I like dancing to: www.lisahaley.com
But, how can someone with red hair and a blue fiddle play good zydeco?
No, I’ve never been to New Orleans. My loss.
OT: Ah! Finally found some good news!: Swiss experts say individuals with undetectable viral load and no STI cannot transmit HIV during sex
Wow!
I remember the greatest bar right at the piers in New Orleans a long time ago.
Can’t remember the Bar’s name off hand, but I remember the woman that caused the fight.
A little political humor

Heading off to bed…. tomorrow is a big day…. Nite all… sweet dreams
I’m working a different shift, so I gotta do that “early to bed early to rise” crap. Sweet dreams, firepups. *mwah*
g’nite tow
I have a line that I practice for bars like that: “God, man, if I’d known she was with YOU …” Now, if you get the right emphasis on YOU, he’ll buy you a beer, she’ll introduce you to a “friend”, and you won’t need hospitalization. Win, win, win.
Whatever happens with the Democratic nomination, I hope that people will be real with themselves in comparing the two candidates. In truth and reality, neither of them are above taking a position because it will insure their own political survival. If it were otherwise, neither of them would be where they are now. Unfortunately, that’s the nature of our system. Realizing that there’s room for reasonable differences of opinion on who will be best able to create real change, I hope that everyone making the choice will focus on that question and exercise his or her own independent judgment.
Yes Good night all and rest well, tomorrow is going to be sensory overload and there is fuckery afoot, count on it.
g’nite busted
I remember one particular late night Jazz Fest way out at the maple leaf with Walter Wolfman Washington and across the street Buckwheat Zydeco at Muddy Waters.. There was a huge all night flea market on the street in between.. I never stopped dancing or spilled my drink and made 8k at about 3 am.. with a couple of good buys. I moved to a much nicer hotel the next afternoon.
For Fat Tuesday

*waves weakly* Up from one of many naps today. Marked improvement and i’ve stopped trying to yark up a lung and all the contents of my stomach. At this point all i’m doing is regaining strength. Called into work again tonight so they’d have enough notice to get someone on hand for tomorrow too. I can barely think straight, i’d never be able to function at work like this.
Waving niters - am on duty for first poll watching shift. The ATT-Pebble Beach Pro Am also kicks off in the morning and traffic will be a bitch. Hasn’t been a thrill since Tiger stopped playing the tournament followed by too many other world class pros in recent years. Clint has been a very bad boy allowing Limpballs and his ilk inside the hallowed gates….and Bill Murray cancelled. Karma catching up with Dirty Harry & his merry band of corporate creatures. Hoping Phil Mickelson returns to defend his win last year.
and when you wakeup wednesday with a hangover, remember, those are ashes on that dude’s forehead. He didn’t get a really garbled tatoo. So he prolly wasn’t really drunker than you after all …
learned that one the hard way …
stay warm and glad you are feeling better…
Hope you get better soon! Best remedy is a good hearty chicken soup. I would send you some but my transporter is in for repairs>:)
Check out the FDL news ticker: Millions march against kidnappings in Colombia
Millions.
Gives ya hope.
yeah, keep ‘em honest, npb (sorry about the traffic)
Thanks. The fever broke too, so at this point i’m rehydrating myself to make up for all i’ve lost in the last two days. Can’t stomach more than crackers as of yet, but it’s still keeping something down. Something to work with. I just can’t seem to stay asleep for very long yet.
I just can’t seem to stay asleep for very long yet
Try watching some Fred Thompson rallies. :)
Seriously, glad you feel a bit better and hang in there. Will you be able to watch the magic unfold on TV tomorrow?
my mom would make us kids “jello water” for those types of illnesses. was jello powder from the box but with double the water - stayed down and helped rehydrate kiddies
I love the fact that the President of Columbia joined the march.
ya’ll need to digg this
( • )( • )
somebody owes me some beads now, right …
spew
Wow, my ‘puter allowed me to chitchat… Aloha, Ya’ll… ;-)
Here is a photo of my favorite bar on Bourbon Street. Built before 1772.
having pooter problems, ct?
i actually picked up some of glaceau’s vitamin water. The purple one heavy on the potassium. Between that and the canada dry ginger ale, i should be okay.
I’ll see how i can do for the primary watching for tommorrow. Wish i could get outside for the pazci’s though. *sighs* something to look forward to afterwards, methinks. When i’m able to eat again without fear.
No mooning, please. :)
Could we get a million to the mall for FISA or Iraq? I’d settle for a cool Mil… 8-)
Done dugg it!
Yes’m, I’m running 98-99% CPU usage we no programs running that I’ve started… 8-(
I imagine we might be able to .. (see Strong Majority of Voters Oppose Telecom Immunity) … but somehow I doubt we’d b able to get the President there like Colombia had. Just a hunch there.
ooo
ooo ooo oo
o o o
ooo o o
oooo{O}
You have Windows? Do you know how to tell which program is using the CPU?
Dang. Looked better in preview. *g*
This place is going booby! Aren’t we supposed to be changing the world, or some such thing?
You be infected I would say. Thy some of the online scans from Trend Micro and Symantec/Norton. But I would highly recommend Zone alarm Internet Suite. I have been using Zone Alarm for many years and have been able to stay bug free. It comes with spyware, virus protection and a Firewall that works great: http://www.zonealarm.com/store/content/home.jsp

When will they learn that you can’t repeal technology — it’s a one-way arrow; more firepower in the hands of ever smaller groups, until everyone in the world has their finger on a doomsday button.
mccain will be singing the second verse, same as the first, of that forking bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb iran
no, not at all
just making an observation was all - i did not think the subject of that video was what i would call eye candy
but again, my eyes are old
Technically beef cakes if ya know what I mean… but a great tune none the less
