No one could have foreseen Bush not giving a damn!

The Bush administration has failed to nominate any candidates to a newly empowered privacy and civil-liberties commission. This leaves the board without any members, even as Congress prepares to give the Bush administration extraordinary powers to wiretap without warrants inside the United States…

Previously, this board had been set up by the Bush Administration and staffed almost exclusively with cronies who always managed to find that, lo and behold, Bush never did anything wrong! It was so miserably partisan and kowtowing to Bush that even Lanny Davis (LANNY DAVIS?!!) the sole Democrat on it had resigned in protest.

In 2007, with the Democrats in charge the Board was made into a typical bi-partisan commission requiring the approval of Congress for it’s members. As of January 30th, all of the previous lackeys members terms have expired, without any replacements named. All while FISA provisions are being considered by Congress.

But don’t worry Joe Lieberman and Susan Collins are on the case. I’m sure they will demand FISA be held up until this group can monitor and attempt to prevent unwarranted intrusions into your privacy.

Just kidding, of course, worry.
