He was the only one who was fair. Honestly, how are all these blog “Kings and Queens” going to regain their credibility when Hillary wins the nomination? They are doing more now to ruin our chances in November than they realize. I just wish they would shut the f**k up!
I dunno, but I, for one, want to see absolutely as muchh as possible, of the remaining two candidates, because I was an Edwards supporter – now trying to decide who to support.
The more I see, the better, I think. Somebody now needs to convince me. Bring it on – no such thing as information-overload here…
Everyone who talks about Arnie’s endorsement of McCain forgets that the California GOP primary is closed — independents can’t vote. And the California GOP, generally, hates Arnie. So his endorsement will do McCain better outside California and, in my opinion, may actually hurt him with California GOP voters.
The Mittster flip flops on CA emissions control standard within hours of Debate. Need to flood whoever is throwing the next wrassling match with this. The question would be “Did you flip flop after the debate? What is the half-life of your credibility?”
Debate Mitt
Q: Just so I’m clear, you said you side with the states. That means you side with Governor Schwarzenegger —
ROMNEY: I side with states being able to make their own decisions, even if I don’t always agree with the decisions they make.
…
After Debate Mitt
But Romney didn’t want to side with the environment for too long. The AP reports that “[a]fter the debate,” — and after Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R-CA) endorsed Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) — “Romney’s campaign issued a statement in which he said that the federal government, not individual states, should set limits on carbon emissions.”
Thanks for the non-Drudge link! I’m really surprised that they are still openly going after McCain now that it looks like he’ll win. Maybe they’ll give up after Super Tuesday? There is no way they keep this up until November!
wesgpac, i’m looking at casting my vote to where it will do the most damage for the r’s. aint no way in hell i’m voting for an r in the general – just trying to wreck as much havoc with my one little vote as i can.
Keep in mind that we live and breathe this stuff every day. Most people I talk to really don’t know much at all and tune into the debates to see what’s happening.

Fox News political contributor Karl Rove.
President Bush’s close political adviser Karl Rove will reportedly be joining Fox News as an on-air contributor to be “used throughout Super Tuesday coverage.”
I’m not so interested in interview “tactics” or “skills”, so much as content management. He herds the big minds very well, sits back and lets them do their thing.
The GOP hatred of McCain is deep and real. Also remember, Bain Capital owns Rush Limbaugh, and Mitt=Bain.
McCain partnered with the evil Teddy Kennedy on immigration, and the evil Russ Feingold to limit free speech (where $=speech). Also, McCain voted against their precious taxcuts (twice) and stood in the door of Cheney’s torture chambers like George Wallace in the schoolhouse doorway.
And, deep down, McCain embarasses all the chickenhawk GOPs with his real life heroism. His life in the Hanoi Hilton wasn’t a videogame.
Though it would cost the potential buyers around $600 million in breakup fees, THL and Bain execs are likely pondering Clear Channel’s – and the radio industry’s – recent performance. On January 22, CCU lost more than 7% after reports revealed radio industry fell more than 5% in December. What’s more – as mentioned previously, the deal is valued at $39.20 per share; however, CCU stock is now trading 25% below that mark, at $29.50 a share.
MONTHLY CHART OF CCU WITH PRICE AT BEGINNING OF THE DEAL VERSUS NOW
Mitt was suppose to have bought ClearChannel by now but he has been dragging his feet. Either Bain Capital does not have the cash for the deal not that Mitt will ever let anyone independent look at his books.
Or Mitt does not think that Rush can make him enough money to justify the price of the deal! Bwahhaha!
A valid criticism of Olbermann is that he has few dissenting voices on his programme. The response, of course, is that the other 23 hours, on every blessed channel, are open to the “dissenters.”
Good luck with your choice, Suzanne. I am surprized Arnold is still popular, since he has plopped out on most of his promises. He hasn’t fixed anything he said he would in CA. The first thing I heard this morning was Arnold on the radio saying he’d support anyone for President who would send CA $14 billion right away. Wow, real conservative self-reliance and expert responsible management there.
arnold is a lying sack of shit who will do anything or say anything until he gets caught (spitting) forker will sell out CA to the low bidder as long as he gets his
I agree with that one. I can recall KO hosting Turley one night, and KO was stunned to hear Turley say that he was in favor of impeaching Bubba. Rocked him back.
Isn’t it fantastic that we blogfolk, along with John Edwards, totally screwed over Fox News by not giving them any Democratic debates? It’s nice to celebrate a victory once in a while.
Just waking up in Europe-sounds like a great debate. Really enjoyed seeing Ariana, Josh, and John with KO (now that KO has come out of the blogger closet).
It’s FANTASTIC to see real liberals on the TeeVee for a change.
Super Tuesday shoulod be very close-don’t seee any blowouts.
thats a complaint? its all neocon repug TPs on faux and cnn and most of misnbc….. i say thank god for keith!! and plz give us more enlightened commentators…..
arnold is a lying sack of shit who will do anything or say anything until he gets caught (spitting) forker will sell out CA to the low bidder as long as he gets his…
I didn’t vote for Arnold of course. But I think overall, he has been good for some purposes. He really is a the camel’s nose in the CA GOP tent. He started lots of good initiatives and now we can say that they were first seriously considered by a Republican. The insane CA GOP hates his guts, and say so or act it out in public often enough so that it sticks in peoples’ minds how crazy they are. The recent GOP stunts in the legistalture no longer have the cover of any rational explanation other than that the CA GOP is crazy bad.
And he is a true actor type. He can be swayed by public approval.
But has to be watched like a hawk and requires constant pressure from CA Democrats, otherwise, his reactionary instincts come out.
But, I really cannot understand his popularity. What promise has he kept? Not one. Except, no new taxes.
Oh, yeah, even his tax cut stunts are good in the long run. REcently he tried to remove farm land tax breaks. His gimmick was to redefine small California farmers as a special interest group. So his transparent and increasingly Mittster like contortions to escape his nonperformance, I guess might be good in the long run too.
In his State of the Union, the President asked Congress for $300 million for poor kids in the inner city. As there are, officially, 15 million children in America living in poverty, how much is that per child? Correct! $20.
Here’s your second question. The President also demanded that Congress extend his tax cuts. The cost: $4.3 trillion over ten years. The big recipients are millionaires. And the number of millionaires happens, not coincidentally, to equal the number of poor kids, roughly 15 million of them. OK class: what is the cost of the tax cut per millionaire? That’s right, Richie, $287,000 apiece.
…
Of course, there’s an effective alternative to Mr. Bush’s plan – which won’t cost a penny more. Simply turn it upside down. Let’s give each millionaire in America a $20 bill, and every poor child $287,000.
And, there’s an added benefit to this alternative. Had we turned Mr. Bush and his plan upside down, he could have spoken to Congress from his heart.
Hey Kevster,
Thanks for being here. This, in my opinion, was the best debate yet. I really hope this means a ticket for the two of them. May they lead us out of this long, long, nightmare.
Super Tuesday should be the moment.
KO’s guests on the occupation:
Wes Clark – DLC Democrat.
Richard Clarke – Conservative Republican (possibly now a Conservative Democrat).
Bernard Trainor – Conservative Hawk.
Thomas E. Ricks (author of “Fiasco: The American Military Adventure in Iraq) – Hawk.
As for space, and I hate to compare, but I’m thinking of Tweety, who doesn’t give folks room to breathe.
Aww, Newt, ya wouldn’t be dissing Keith, now would ya? His lineups compared to most other hosts’ is analogous to the Dem Prez Candidates compared to the Repugs’ slate…
I just voted for Obama in MoveOn.org’s online ballot. They asked for a comment, so I said this:
‘Unfortunately, the few important remaining differences between the Democratic and Republican Parties are support for women’s choice and workers’ unions, and opposition to homophobia and racism. The Clintons crossed the racism line, not grossly, but it’s supposed to be a bright line.’
*g* They were in Calleeforney today for the big macho love fest and I thought that was a precient comment you made as to Arnie’s endorsement on California voters. It probably has more favorable national implications for McCain.
Comments like KO’s on FISA/Mukasey should be delivered on the floor of the Senate and put in the face of the lying Chambliss, Bond, Hatch, McConnell, and the rest of the clowns who think Americans are stupid enough to believe the Telecoms deserve immunity.
Great line from Obama during tonights debate, “you not only need to be ready on day 1, you need to be RIGHT on day one.” Great job hitting her Iraq vote.
Most distasteful, IMO, was right before Obama’s line, as Hillary again defended her Iraq vote.
Saddam was bad, a megalomaniac. My vote was right, Bush’s judgement was wrong… …that is just not doing it for me.
I’m a John Edwards’ guy — I think he made a monumental change in the debate on the Democratic side vis a vis the economy, health insurance, caring about the poor and the middle class. I’m just sorry that his personal campaign didn’t catch fire.
But now you see both Obama and Hillary following his lead and coopting his message. Edwards was in it, fortunately, for the poor and working class people. He’ll be okay. But we still have to worry about the poor and the middle class in this country.
Both Hillary and Obama have promised Edwards that they will continue his message. I hope and pray that that is so.
However, I trust Obama more. Why? Because Hillary is too tied to the status quo (plus, she voted for the War on Iraq and for the Kyl-Lieberman bill against Iran). She’s too willing to risk the lives of young Americans in stupid, preemptive wars.
Obama could possibly be a transformational leader like JFK (I make no promises), but Hillary will never be a visionary President. She represents the past, the status quo. She carries too much negative baggage, both in her connection to Bill, but more importantly, in her votes for War against Iraq and the silly resolutions against Iran. She’s a captive of her own “triangulation.” Obama has the freedom to unite and inspire our entire country. Hillary does not. Advantage — Barack Obama.
I really wish people would stop bringing up Kyl-Lieberman as somehow indicating a difference between Obama and Clinton. This to me is one of the most disingenuous moves Obama has made, and is part of what makes me roll my eyes when I hear how Obama wants to practice a new style of politics. The fact is, CNN reported that all of the Senators were notified the night before the vote. If you look at the vote, 98 Senators showed up. The only two who didn’t were Obama and McCain, both of whom were campaigning.
But more telling to me is the fat that Obama co-sponsored S970, the Iran Counter-Proliferation Act of 2007. This is taken directly from the bill, Section 3(8), Sense of the Senate: “The Secretary of State should designate the Iranian Revolutionary Guards as a Foreign Terrorist Organization under section 219 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1189) and the Secretary of the Treasury should place the Iranian Revolutionary Guards on the list of Specially Designated Global Terrorists under Executive Order 13224 (66 Fed. Reg. 186; relating to blocking property and prohibiting transactions with persons who commit, threaten to commit, or support terrorism).” Obama co-sponsored this bill, along with about 70 other Senators. Then, as he has done in the past, he manages to avoid going on the record with a vote, and proceeds to criticize Hillary for her vote. Could someone please explain to me why Obama isn’t held to the same standards for hypocrisy that Clinton is?
BEWARE !!! Hillary’s so-called ‘Universal’ Health Care Plan is to make it AGAINST THE LAW FOR ANYONE TO NOT BUY THEIR OWN HEALTH INSURANCE (LIKE AUTO INSURANCE)That’s not health care….that’s just a law (that’s what mandate means) !!!!! Under Hillary’s health care plan everyone who breaks her law and does not buy their own health coverage (if not offered through their job) would be fined and wages could be garnished. Also, everyone would have to prove that they already have health insurance (show an insurance policy) before they could get a new job if that new job does not offer coverage. If people could afford health care they would have it.To make it a law will just make people unable to afford the coverage afraid to go to the hospital when ill in fear of getting caught breaking the law (without coverage). TERRIBLE !!! DON’T BE FOOLED AMERICA !!!!!

I had a brain fart on the last thread. It’s not Amato who shows up on CNN weekend afternoon, it’s John Aravosis from Americablog. D’oh.
John was the best of the three..Arianna didn’t come across well..she really has a “thing” about Hillary.
All kinds of fun new FDL buttons tonite!
Amato is hella cute.

Careful, Looks can deceive.
So, is the Drudge/McCain Asian slur going to end up being a Macaca issue for McCain?
-G
greg b – i put an article up on the ticker from the san francisco chronicle – it was the chronicle that originally ran the article drudge dug up.
here’s the link – tis the second post from the top
That asian-slur story was from the 2000 campaign — do GOPs remember that long? Or do elephants never forget?
He was the only one who was fair. Honestly, how are all these blog “Kings and Queens” going to regain their credibility when Hillary wins the nomination? They are doing more now to ruin our chances in November than they realize. I just wish they would shut the f**k up!
KO-
‘Let the voters decide, what a concept’.
I love the guy’s snark.
John is definitely DeNiro’s kid brother.
Yeah, I remember that matter in 2000. The ever in love with McCain media gave him wide berth.
I don’t think McCain would be allowed to call his captors the N word had they been Black.

What’s the story that Drudge is pushing?

Keep in mind that we live and breathe this stuff every day. Most people I talk to really don’t know much at all and tune into the debates to see what’s happening.
CNN is starting to rerun the dabate. Now.
Oh. Well, guess you can scope things out pretty well. Might be best to vote for Mitt, then. He has the surest greaseball touch I have ever seen.
I laid down for a half an hour it didn’t take, the sleep I mean. So I’m reading this and I’m wondering, Suzanne when are you gonna make an honest woman of yourself and register Dem?
Yeah this is to good to pass up we need Mitt and the other GOPers to weigh in on this. We need our Presidential Candidates to deplore the Hate Speech. I’m surprised Obama has not responded by now? Maybe his press people are distracted by the debate?
Making Hate Speech an issue can only help us. I want people to talk about this issue more!
No, I’m tired of debates too. I try to watch as much as I can, but the whole thing? Nope.
Suz, then I’d guess voting for Romney is the ticket. Just to flip McCain’s lead somewhat.
Am I the only one who thinks KO’s interviewing skills are less than what one might hope for?
ixnay on the avochay, you’ll have Rove reading all your emails…
i keep going back and forth on it. on one hand, it complicates things during primary season. on the other, i sure fork up their statistics when taking polls and i get all the propoganda from party headquarters.

He could be better but he is better than the rest of the MSM. What do you suggest that he can do better?
Drudge was also running a story about McCain considering a switch to the Democratic Party in 2001.

Coulter said she’d vote for Hillary before McCain.
Rush said McCain will destroy the Republican Party. Repeat as necessary.

P.S. Al Sadr is contemplating an end to his cease fire/truce because of continued attacks on his followers.
perhaps you are being punished by the gods of Democracy until you come over to the light side. You might want to consider that.
(writing that last sentence I got a flash of Fargo, I need to see that movie again)
So I have to choose debate or KO?
Ouch.
Oh, yeah, there’s that whole John-Kerry’s-running-mate fiasco for McCain as well. Really, the man’s hardly a GOP at all…..
You’ve got to be freakin kidding me.
Rove is gonna share “his math” with us?
Heh, that’s what we had to decide earlier, too… 8-P
Actually, my criticism is that he refuses to sit back and let them do their own thing. Rather, KO attempts to herd them down his preordained narrative
Just another reason to add to the long list of reasons of why not to watch fox.
If you watch Faux Spew…! Of which, I don’t…! ;-)

Would’ve been perfect if he could have wiped his mouth about 2/3 through…

STANDING OVATION !!!!!
Bonus points, he said treason, out loud, to Bush.
I’m partial to ‘messianic petulance’ myself…! ;-)
People who lobby congress for retroactive immunity are obviously criminals.
Thanks Teddy…:-)
And thanks for the post Jane! It was wild in the Spin Room trying to do that interview…
