I very much admire all of you John Edwards supporters. John and Elizabeth both have such beautiful and caring hearts, and their supporters do as well. I’m very sorry for the news today.

Although I’m a Hillary supporter, I have to say that I was very sad to hear the news about John Edwards today. He is a very honorable and caring man, and I thought he made excellent points during the debates. If he would have ended up winning the nomination and presidency, I know the country would have been in good hands.

This is heartbreaking. I just can’t get behind either Obama or Clinton right now. Yeah, I’ll vote for whomever gets the nomination but I won’t be very enthusiastic about it. In fact, I’m still voting for John on Tuesday. I know it won’t matter, but it’s something.

I am really sad about this news. I’m with LHP, my interest in this primary has just evaporated. Even though I knew the possibilbity of JRE getting the nomination was slim to none, I liked that his ideas were shaping the democratic narrative; and that he was defying corporate and media pressure to disappear. I liked the scrappy bulldog nature of his campaign.

I have a sad feeling that Elizabeth’s health may play a big part in this unexpected decision.

I also have a sinking feeling that we are now looking at a McCain presidency.

Regarding the permanent bases issue. I understand that Bush has already nixed the prohibition with a signing statement. So much for legislative attempts to stop Bush at that level. When the hell is Congress going to impeach them both. Thanks be to God for Vermont action to arrest P/VP for war crimes if they ever show up there. But how about doing it now.

Blessings FDLers.

I’ve been supporting John Edwards, and have an Edwards bumper sticker on my car. I’m disappointed at his withdrawal– not at him, but at the MSM, who just can’t seem to get it right. They never did give him coverage on a par with Clinton and Obama.

“let freedom reign!”

above should read “John is going to take the reins…”

but I hate it when people post an additional comment to correct an obvious error in their previous comment.

or when they ask the site admin/moderator to “please make the correction for me.”

as if it matters.

Here are my predictions- and some speculation:

(Don’t worry Obama people- I’m nearly always wrong about these things… but if I’m right, try to be happy and hopeful.)

John will not endorse anyone- at least until AFTER next Tues- and possibly not even then.

Most of John’s support in the upcoming primaries- contrary to what many of you seem to believe- will likely go to Hillary, and she’ll triumph next Tuesday- with Barack coming in a close second in most states.

Ultimately, Hillary will get the nomination- based on delegates- and Barack will agree to be her VP.

It will then be revealed that John is going to take the reigns at the Justice Department as AG (an offer made by Hillary to John during their private backstage meeting after the Myrtle Beach debate?)

So- ultimately- we’ll get all three of them: the administrator, the visionary- and the fighter.

It’s a win-win-win scenario.

Visualize it. Accept it. We can CRUSH any Republican when this team starts working together.

And if all goes well- we can control the White House with these three for the next 24 years.

Yes, and as Ian Welsh pointed some time ago, (paraphrasing, here); It will be difficult to be gracious if the d’s lose because they ‘picked’ a weak, defeatable candidate. Especially when they had a candidate who consistently out-polled ALL of the r-thugs and had a greater likelihood of pressuring for actual ‘change’ in both supporting ’single-payer’ health care AND in the shamefully inhuman, ineguitable economic system crushing our nation and the world into money-bubbles and oil ‘markets’ for the insatiably greedy and ‘powerful’ corporate ‘class’ aka the Ruling Class.
