I don’t wanna beat up on McCain on account of his age. I hope I’m in as good shape when I’m that age. (Can’t have a wife that much younger, though. I guess I could get a divorce. But I’m a democrat. My vows mean something to me.) But anyway, I was watching the Giulinai endorsement and the guy’s mind really seeme to be wandering. Maybe that’s unfair to McCain. Rudy can do that to ya. But then Mccain called Rudy a hero. Could somebody – anybody – tell me what Rudy ever did to be called a hero?

I try to imagine each of those characters as neighbors. Huck would be trying to get me to church, a bit of a do gooder in the Ned Flanders vein, Ron Paul would be mingling with unsavory elements that exist under the “libertarian” banner, closet nazis, crypto racists, probably be some gun fire, McCain would be stealing drunk, stealing my yard nomes when he is in a balckout, and Romeny would be looking down his nose at us working folks. No wonder George Bush was the GOP nominee the last two times. They are pathetic. I hope we can beat them…….how could we screw it up this time?

I disagree, Rudy campaigning for McCain in the Northeast will work against McCain …

I didn’t watch. But he’s been doing a good job day-in and day out from what I can tell bein’ folksy an’ all. So I guess he’s entitled. Would have been better not to do it in front of a national TV audience. I guess it’s commin’ down to a two man race and he’s not one of ‘em. Maybe that’s got him pissy. He seemed OK last night, though.

The press will do a good job of portraying McCain aa a safe and comfortable centrist. One thing I fear about a McCain candidacy is that I will spend a lot of time explaining to well-meaning friends with good values that such a McCain is a con and a fiction. Problem is that a lot of reasonable people want to buy that con becuase it makes them feel good.

On other hand, a campaign against McCain that emphasizes policy positions and direction of the country stuff would be effective. “A good man and an OLD war hero who deserves our thanks has wandered off onto a very wrong and dangerous path for the country. More in sorrow than in anger we oppose him.”

Problem is that if he keeps lying his ass off and weasling at this rate, that approach will be difficult. He seems to be heading off into Bush/Rove hack and smear territory too, but then I haven’t listened for the last half hour or so.

But then, there will always be the ‘less jobs more war’ option.

He’s fighting Romney for the Bush-lover voters, and sounding “Bush-style pissy” was no doubt a carefully crafted, long-practiced, scripted attempt to reach them with the nonverbal message “If you liked the smirk at the SOTU earlier this week, you’re gonna love me.”

I think they are all Bush style pissy at the core. You put them on the spot long and hard enough and it comes out. So I am never surprised at seeing that. I may have tuned out by the time whatever you are referring to occured.

With the press I think it works if you can combine it with threat of some kind of violence if you don’t lay off (not physical violence, but general threat of heavy manners).

Huck was off his game tonight, imo, in direct proportion to the extent that he was being ignored, and forced to bitch about it.

1) Could you please release the donors to the Clinton library you’re refusing to release and their ammounts because all large fund raising by any candidate is very relevant? There are a plethora of large foreign contributors including Saudi Arabia. Americans would like to know all the contributors and amounts. We thought Denise Rich’s near $400,000 contribution and the pardon of her husband, a fugitive from federal criminal charges was relevant and a bit analagous to the Libby sentence modification/commuting by Bush.

2) Are you aware Senator Clinton that Waxman introduced legislation to make you reveal the donors that passed in the House but has been “stalled” for months in the Senate?

3) Why is President Clinton covering up the byzantine financial ties between him and billionaire pal Ron Burkle?

4)Why have you and President Clinton refused to release 3,022,030 health care documents from the Clinton library given that you assert health care is a major issue in your campaign plank?

The trick is in the timing. You have to make sure that it’s submitted while he’s on the campaign trail so that he can’t “pull it”…or when he’s scheduled to give an important speech or something and has to rush back. Then all you’d have to do is get enough votes to really make the Republicans have to deal with it.

I’d think the best moment would be after he has enough votes to actually win the nomination, or pretty close. That would be best because it would then result in a backlash and Romney would be able to extend the battle out longer. Drain their campaign war chests, keep the Republican base at each others throats, even get many of those that supported McCain having regrets…but allow him to win the election based on the delegates he has (or throw it open to a bloody floor fight)!!!
