Last night after the State of the Union address, John McCain revealed what he really thinks of Joe Lieberman — either that or it was a horribly timed moment of acid reflux (YouTube).
Maybe that’s why Lieberman is begging off:
Sen. Joe Lieberman, an independent who nearly won the vice presidency as a Democrat in 2000, says there’s no way he’ll be Republican Sen. John McCain’s running mate should McCain become the party’s presidential nominee.
”No, I’d tell him, ‘Thanks, John, I’ve been there, I’ve done that. You can find much better,”’ Lieberman told The Associated Press during an interview Tuesday in his Senate office. ”I’m not seeking anything else.”
The Connecticut senator said he was unequivocally ruling out sharing the GOP ticket with McCain.
I know Florida’s in the bag and all, but watch your step John. Reach across the aisle and ask your Democratic friends — Holy Joe can be a real vindictive prick.
Update: NBC is reporting that Rudy will drop out tomorrow and endorse McCain.
(thanks to scarce for the video)

Yo Ho!
Frightening thought.
With or without the vindictive, Joe is a real prick. Or to use the vernacular, schmuck.
”No, I’d tell him, ‘Thanks, John, I’ve been there, I’ve done that. You can find much better,”’
That’s the understatement of the year!
Until today, only Cindy and the previously disposed-of wife had seen that face.
Thanks Jane. I think.
Beerfart Liberal here reporting from The City Beautiful. You know, anyone who’s been in Orlando for more than just a vacation can’t help but be reminded of the last line of that old Bruce Springsteen song, “Thunderoad.” This is, indeed, a town full of losers And I’ve never seen Rudy look more relaxed, at ease and right at home than tonight. But he ain’t pullin’ outta here to win.
Flori-duh has voted and the votes are still being tallied. The final count is expected in, oh, say, about 4-6 weeks, give or take.. It looks like a close one, but the big winner tonight is clear – the people of the State of Flori-duh. No longer do they have to deal with this, the lamest group of insufferable, pandering motherfuckers, in the history of American electoral politics. Go away!!!! All of you!!!! And don’t come back!!!!!!! And, hey,Pualtards!!! Tomorrow — no, no, TONIGHT, get your asses out there and pull up the hundreds of signs with which you have blemished this, The City Beautuiful. For what? 3% of the vote? Every goddamned one of them. Gone. Tomorrow.
Beerfart Liberal from the City Beautiful. I’d tyhrow it to our guy on the Gulf Coast but don’t see him. So, back to you, Jane.
Really did not need to see St. John’s O-face.
*shudder*
Jane! Don’t be shy, you can tell us what you really think of Joe!
Sounds like Old Lord wants Hucklebee to be his running mate.
“Rudi invested his heart and soul into this primary….”
With McCain’s win in FL, does that mean Rush is now impotent?
Saudi Arabia is running out of…. water and will cease all agriculture in 2016 and be dependent on IMPORTS… hahahaha that’s a hoot.
Self-knowledge is a beautiful thing to behold.
“Thanks, John,…You can find much better.”
probably the only time I’ll ever agree with Short Ride.
War War War and more War… thats what he stands for!
With McCain’s win in FL, does that mean Rush is now impotent?
Nah, he can still go fuck himself.
KO: MSNBC and the National Journal confirming Rudi will endorse McCain in CA tomorrow.
With chemical assistance
”No, I’d tell him, ‘Thanks, John, I’ve been there, I’ve done that. You can find much better,”
Why the fuck didn’t he say: “No, Al, you can find much better,” 7 1/2 years ago?
Unless Bain also has the patent on V**gra. Hard to tell. They do own Clear Channel though, so Rush et all will keep pushing their home grown “product.”
I guess that explains why Joey Short Ride isn’t lurking around on the stage next to McCain
Sadly, with 71% reporting, the property tax initiative is at 64% yes to 36% no. Absolutely stupid.
the lighting on McCain is really screwed up … makes his look sepulchral
Because sometimes, “Double Gitmo” just isn’t enough.
Rush will be apoplectic.
McCain will ask Rudy to be his running mate.
Must see at TPM.
LOL.
can he find the teleprompter … oh … there it is!
McCain: “There’s nothing in America that is inevitable.”
Yeah, loser. Like you ever being president.
But it makes teh gay guv look hot.
The truly scary, and Machiavellian, ticket is McCain/Huckabee…
If I were going to smear John McCain, I would just say he asked John Kerry to be his running mate.
Yeah. And he seems to be reading a teleprompter, so he weirdly stares at the camera, like he’s staring into your soul.
nighty night
Anybody watch FOX? I had it on a few minutes ago. Krystal -hey, that’s what they call “White Castles” down here – was babbling. Corndickie was making no sense whatever. Brit was saying how unfair the press had been to Rudy…..
you mean the guv?
Lieberman is playing hard to get. Judith demands access.
I guess “heart and soul” was all he could afford to lose. Cuz, no money. And now, no heart or soul. Like he could have taken that to the bank.
I cannot fathom Mistress Judi settling for the Naval Observatory — unless she believes St. McCain will croak in office. *g*
We’ll trade, water for oil.
Just kidding, but I did get a good laugh out of that.
McCain/Perry
EPU’ed from former thread.
I like the way McCain and the neocons try to sell neverendingoccupation to America as though we do not understand.
We understand, we just disagree and will never cotton to this agenda. McCain will not be our next President. Read this now and believe me later.
It. Will. Not. Happen.
OFG
Rudi has run a one-day campaign.
g’night, Raven…
floorblogging mccain’s victory speech:
o. m. g.
the anti-excitement candidate.
sincere. slow. slurred.
cue the rocky theme…
Rudee will endorse John Boy
What a match made in hell
I noticed that ….
but forgot completely with that weird little laugh McC gave at the end …
spooky
Both his eyes do not focus on the same place … quite eerie, and the lighting … visions of Max Headroom …
So how are the rank and file repug voters going to take to a guy who wants 100 more years of war and doesn’t know squat about economics?
Sheeple.
Siun – do you know who is the ghoulish fellow that was standing to McCain’s left?
And now I’m gonna throw it over to our guiy on te Gulf Coast, Jim White.
Jim, Williard’s over there. He was babbling right from the first sentence. Is he done yet? he was talking about when he was a kid. He isn’t going through his whole goddamned life is he? What can you tell us?
Why do we never see McCains black child? How old is that child now? I’ve never ever seen him/her.
It shows you just how much Jane thinks of Lieberman when she only used two words, she probably didn’t even want to waste those.
An important point I should have mentioned in my Sunday Late Nite about the apostasy of Old Lord.
Oh, jeez, Tweety’s talking about Bloomberg now.
I don’t know how to argue that – what does Perry bring? Huck brings the nuts… Perry?
That’s Crist standing behind MCStain. Were Crist and Giuliani tanning together? There were/are allegations that Crist is gay, but none of them stuck. Not enough to damage him in the Redneck State. Crist won handily over Jim Davis (possible Garfield cartoonist).
touché.
Mr. Lieberman. Perhaps you do not quite clearly understand how much many of us Democrats, who voted for you as veep, a few years ago, dislike you now.
If he ain’t McGreevey II, I don’t know what he is.
Texas
Pills, inshannity and the rest of the “true conservatives” are on the wrong side of history.
They had everything they wanted the pResidency, both houses and an obliging media and they came up with bupkus. A historical low on the most meaningful measures of our country. [stating the obvious]
Rush was trashing McCain so what whimp is he for?
I think I’m going to use the speeches Huck, McCain and Willard gave tonight to introduce my (voting age) Seniors to them this week. Time to get them familiar with the possibilities before we vote on the 19th.
Willard tells us he knows where jobs come from and where jobs go.
I think he’s jealous he didn’t the job from Crist that McCain did.
Both from the southwest though
u funny
Stranger things have happened
I think if I was forced to gauge, Lieberman would come up front and center as the most despised politician in our view in this house.
LOL. He knows enough about economics to have married a very wealthy trophy wife.
Something that many men never master. s/
His speech pattern leads me to think he’s *anexed to the hilt though.
Jeez, you’d never have thought Tweety used to practically fellate Rudi on-air.
“9-11 Tourettes”
“burping 9-11″
McCain just as soon needs Joe on his ticket as Clinton or to some degree Obama – they are all ”moderate” – mainstream – uni-party or whatever you want to call it. (Your placement of them on the contineum may vary).
From the bit of pundit puke I have heard it seems they would be correct that a evangelical-type VP sounds likely to get a good chance of victory. After all if someone like Huck can deliver 10 percent that would not show up in certain states that could be the difference. However taking into account McCains so-called mavrick staus I could sure see him joining up with a croney with more conservative (or neo) cred – but I tend to think those people will ”hold their noses” and vote for him.
Hard to tell since the media does love them some McCain.
McCain’s laugh is one of the creepiest things about him. I’d love to have someone who’s really adept at reading body language translate that for me…
There have been hints that McCain is reaching out to Rush through intermediaries. If McCain is the heir apparent, expect detente, however staged and clench-jawed…and won’t that be putrid?
Like I’ve said. I know somethin’ about gay governors bein’ from NJ an’ all. No doubt in my mind about Charlie Crist. I’ve told the people here that but they just don’t believe me. Soon enough I’ll be able to say that I’ve lived in the only 2 states with openly gay governors. That an’ a token will get me on the subway, I guess.
I long for the day when I see Mr. Lieberman humbled.
*gasp* … what about Chin- ee ?
David Gregory sure loves him some crashed flyboy.
again, I’m interested in the K.O. vs. Tweedy dynamic…
K.O., obviously has the better thoughts, upon which he bases questions. But Tweety simply won’t shut up.
Who’s winning this one?
Rush is owned by Clear Channel which is Owned by Bain Capitol, Willard’s company.
Follow the money.
I had to laugh when Rudy was giving his speech. My 5-year-old son was snuggling with me on the couch, falling asleep. The last thing he said before he dozed off, “I don’t believe that guy.”
Yeah, David Gregory is in lovvvvvvvvvve with McCain. He can already picture himself as White House press secretary.
Thanks, Deb, for the paycheck reminder. I had wondered about Vicodin-boy’s enthusiasm for anybody but Old Lord. Watch it ramp up — big time — this week.
Yes, but will Willard see the light…and contemplate a second chair? Follow the money, but also follow the changes in perspectives as we move through Feb. 5th.
… sounds like a future Firefighter … *g*
I’ve heard the hints, but Rush has been rather direct about the dim view he takes of St. John. There’s not a whole lot of room to walk things back, even if Rush wanted to, and Rush doing the whole Emily Litella thing (”Oh . . . never mind.”) is not going to happen.
It’s called painting yourself into a corner, and it couldn’t happen to a nicer radio personality.
LOL. See, thhose endorsements from Crist and Sen. Mel gave McCain a boost.
I couldn’t vote, man. I have a discrepency I have to get fixed so I can vote in the general.
That’s just amazing about prop 1. Who’s voting for it? Everyone – no exaggeration – everyone I’ve spoken to (Dem aand Rethug) said the voted against it. I guess I talk to the wrong people.
Bomb, bomb, bomb…bomb, bomb Iran….Yeah Baby…
or
Achtung Baby….Blackwater Gestapo….Yeah Baby…
Come on Amerikkka???? Come on Homeland!!! Come on….Nevermind the Constitution…bring on more killing…yeah…executions…yeah….death….WTF is the matter with our country?????
Bring us the Amerikkan Dream!!! Yeah, that’s what I’m talkin’ about!!!
More wars, more killing….yeah…The Dream…
Turn away, turn away, turn away from this violence.
SPIT!!!
Where are the cheerleaders????
Aaaahhhh. And here I thought it was orders from Cheney. Thanks for clearing that up.
Didn’t Romney buy all these radio stations just recently? You’d think there’d be a law against that!!
Wouldn’t our side prefer running against Mitt ?
LOL.
Heh. It’s almost impossible to lie to children. They can see clearly.
With McCain running out of the dough it will be interesting to see who bankrolls him now. That will tell a lot.
Rush is owned by Clear Channel which is Owned by Bain Capitol, Willard’s company.
Insane in the Bain,
Insane in the membrane
I would.
They got tax cuts. They took a big bite out of social services, va benefits, education, took a good whack at Social security (missed but not completely – they got the public repeating their talking points), gave a ton of money to the MilIndComplex, Big Pharma, Giant Agribiz, Gutted regulations, chopped down trees, poisoned water and food, exported jobs, reduced real income for workers, bankrupted the treasury… If another one gets in, he could finish the gutting.
Yes, he’s 5, so firefighter, superhero, Army man, archaeologist, or Brett Favre are his current career choices.
When has anything Rush has said in the past had any impact upon what he says in the future?
there used to be. Then the repigs gutted the laws. But that isn’t exactly news around here.
Maybe now that it’s a little clearer which way the wind is blowing, some more money might shake loose?
Hate to be redundant, but …
Welcome to France, Ambassador Lieberman!
McCain….Keating 5, McCain…where are the 750,000 documents from the Abramoff investigation??? McCain??? McCain???
72 years old and sick???
Beware of a VP choice. Beware!!!!
Yes.
Another episode of simple answers to simple questions.
What is wrong with America?
Good point.
Especially given the notion that McCain will most likely pick Mikey as his running mate …
Same here. I would say I should get out more, but those aren’t the folks I want to run into.
It believes its own propaganda.
“America isn’t easy. America is advanced citizenship. You gotta want it bad, ’cause it’s gonna put up a fight”
From some of Aaron Sorkin’s best.
What is wrong with America?
Good Christ – how long you got?
Yes; I don’t like the idea of running against a teflon media darling. Again.
It’ll probably happen anyway, but I don’t really see the steely-eyed independent thinker media narrative coalescing around Mitt like it has around Dubya and McCain.
Ohh Ohhh Ohhhh Ohhhhh (channelling Horshack)
Hullo … how ah ya … what’s wrong with America is that the smartest person doesn’t get elected … the one who wins is the one who is best at marketing to the American public …
I voted against the property tax ammendment. I voted for Edwards.
oops. forgot link.
I want edit back!!! PLEASE ? ? ?
Well folks it’s the end of another long day for us. I just can’t understand why “my kids” (students) don’t get excited about math like I do. Lahoma has indicated a question about how I feel about coming upstairs and editing a presentation she is supposed to deliver tomorrow to school administration. So it’s goodnight dear people.
L and okk.
Whenever it might appear that his “talent on loan from God” might have been called in. For Rush, changing his mind is a mortal sin. Unless he’s referring to his marriages.
I’m on a slow dialup, so I gotta ask–what DID McCain say about Rape Gurney Joe?
A rare visit for me to the Lake at night…
So. Explain this please.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/new…..world.html
Frankly, I’m amazed he hasn’t been struck by lightning. If there *is* a God, He is very indulgent indeed.
It’s only a fifteen second video, so even on dialup it shouldn’t be much of a wait.
And it’s not what McCain said, but the look on his face when Tweety said Romney was bashing him for all his bills working with Dems, like “McCain-Feingold, McCain-Lieberman . . . “
Rush is God’s way of telling the Netroots, “Y’all have more work to do !”
Blitzer is pissing me off,and so are the pundits talking about Hillary’s win. We constantly gripe about apathy among democratic voters, and when they show up in Florida, where no democratic delegates were rewarded, their voting is discarded as irrelevant.
Party leaders in Florida decided to break the rules and move up the primary. The voters and the vote by these Floridians should not be dissed by these asshats.
Rush is God’s way of telling the world that there’s no such thing as karma.
I want edit back!!! PLEASE ? ? ?
Welcome to my world – where, immediately upon hittin the “Submit” button, I think of about eight things that would have put the thought forward more clearly.
Which is not to mention the times that my comment has already been addressed, if not answered, which I should have thought of, before commenting at all.
What is wrong with America?
Wall Street banks and financial institutions are literally out of money.
Won’t be long now.
Lock’n load.
Not only is the President asleep at the wheel, so are the American people!
Rush is God’s way of telling the world that there’s no such thing as karma.
Being a Republican means never having to say “I hear you”.
Evidently he’s a member of the in crowd.
OK so who is planning to go to Austin to Netroots Nation next summer? Show of hands please.
Was I too politically incorrect before? Let me try again. Are John McCain’s children ever seen? How many are there? Does he keep them hidden away?
I hope that’s just an FDL thing, and not a Sunday morning prayer during the sermon. “Uh, let me rephrase that last comment . . . “
*g*
Not that I’ve ever said that to myself during my own preaching or anything . . .
*G*
The best argument against democracy is a five minute conversation with the average American voter. (Present company excepted)
Anybody know where this quote comes from?
Saw a picture the other day with his children. Can’t remember where.
Hillary on MSNBC
Hillary on with ko
No Peter, just an FDL thing. On Sunday morning when it’s out, it’s out and I’ve already spent too much time rehashing and editing by the time I’m in the pulpit.
Sen. Clinton beaming about her “great victory” tonight.
Lots of exposure for no delegates and a “pledge” to not campaign in FL.
I guess she must have had her fingers crossed.
Gotta give Hill props for coming on MSNBC
I shuddered tonight at the prospect of a Clinton-McCain general election. The win for both of them tonight really put in my mind that it might actually happen.
Was I too politically incorrect before? Let me try again. Are John McCain’s children ever seen? How many are there? Does he keep them hidden away?
Not at all – I meant to respond to that very pertinent question, and wondered the same myself.
That having been said, I have no good answer, other than suspecting fear on the part of McCain, and fear of retribution by the same folks that crucified him most unfairly in 2000.
Clinton wants to reward the Florida Democrats for breaking the rules, because it appears to be to her advantage to do so.
“I want to be held accountable”—Ha!
I just want to see Lieberman on the podium in Minneapolis, schmoozing with whomever-it-is. He doesn’t need to be on the ticket. :o)
Goddess forbid.
here ya go
It rhymes with switch…
“the country I’ve been visiting all year”
jeez, Hillary really isn’t good on her feet.
Peterr,
years ago I wrote a spiritual piece about a King snake and a rattle snake. If you are familiar with the way these two act and the disposition of the King snake, you will understand the empty hand versus a tower of fang and venom.
The King always wins weaponless. It’s a good piece, but very easy to put together yourself.
I really don’t like anyone waiting on the results and then changing the rules … it’s just unseemly.
I just can’t stop watching that YouTube. It’s addictive.
We didn’t do too much to shelter our kids from the public when I ran, but that was for state Assembly and not Preznitz. Having said that, our public appearances involved parades where 4-5 year olds could throw candy to other kids and pass out stickers – tailor made for them, and they loved it.
I couldn’t imagine being away from my kids as much as this kind of race would require. I actual can understand Fred’s half-hearted attempt at a campaign (and I’m not talking about his wife, either).
I *think* that that one was Churchill’s – minus the “American” part, which I don’t think is actually part of the quote…
An earlier commenter suggested that Hillary has a lock on the nomination and the MSNBc guys seem to think tha Giuliani and Huckabee will side with McCain, so …
‘typical campaign jargon’
jeez, Hill
I don’t think you’ve got to worry about offending the present company, as I’d say that the present company is all above average. Modestly speaking, of course.
I don’t know the source for sure, but it sounds like Churchill to me.
McCain will not be our next President. I thought I was clear about that.
Put down the mouse, and slowly step away from the monitor . . .
Please, I’d like to sleep tonight…
Did anyone else see Tweety’s sign off smirk with Hillary? I mean, really, isn’t enough ever enough.
ding!
Clinton’s laugh really is annoying when she uses it to avoid responding to the merits of a valid question.
Yes, the average voter quote is Churchill.
And, Plovering@124 is right:
Watch the “smart” money. When it starts heading for the Caymans and Zurich (If it hasn’t already) we’ll know that we’ve been written off.
Of course, if they leave, maybe we’ll win big enough this November to pass legislation to KEEP them out.
Got a good friend whose daughter is a corporate lawyer for one of the two biggest bond raters in London. Two months ago, she pulled everything out of her investment ‘folio and put it in a bank. Smart lady, I’d say.
Oh. I think she also HAS POSSESSION of a wad of Kruggerands.
I shuddered tonight at the prospect of a Clinton-McCain general election. The win for both of them tonight really put in my mind that it might actually happen.
I’d say McCain vs. Clinton is our weakest matchup among all the top tier candidates. I have no way of knowing that, just a gut feeling.
Well, I figgered I’d butcher it somehow.
Hillary didn’t “win” anything tonight except a bunch of PR, just like Michigan. We’re always complaining about how Dems don’t have the Party discipline that Repubes have. She should be shunned by all Dems for her Michigan and Fl actions.
Isn’t it interesting how when Hillary has to campaign head-to-head against Edwards and Obama, her huge initial poll advantages disappear to nearly ties or downright spankings like S.C. These two states where Obama and Edwards didn’t campaign, her “wins” are closer to last Autumns numbers, which I think were based mostly on name recognition.
When she has to directly face her opponents, the voters leave her. Interesting, isn’t it?
The retirees of the community of Boca del Vista have spoken “You’re outta here, you shyster tryster!”
Same as Rudi
She’s trying to leverage it for positive publicity, heading into Super Tuesday …
Bingo.
or in another setting a “tell”
The people of Florida have a Message for You, Rudy
Hey OFG
When is Oklahoma’s primary or caucus, and how does it look?
I was thinking about that today. Here we are, all FISA frenzied…and there are murders being committed on our behalves…
Totally appreciate all of the FISA info, though. Gotta say.
Waving to Jane,
By the way, I’m glad to see you’ve got to know Thom Hartmann. I hear you on his show from time to time. Those with progressive audiences coming together is a fine example of coalition building. High-level discourse is the antidote to hate-radio.
OK = Hill, Edwards, Obama right now
Tim Egan had a great headline in yesterday’s NYT: “Goodbye Rudy, Tuesday.”
Thom Hartmann is awesome.
I honestly cannot conceive of any R other than McCain getting the nomination.
They are all so pathetic.
IMO any serious R would be sitting this one out (except McCain who cannot afford to sit another one out)
Full disclosure – in 1999 I didn’t give W much of a chance either and was CERTAIN that despite running against 8 years of prosperity as VP and the lamest running partner since Dan Quayle, Al Gore was a shoe-in.
So what do I know?
LOL !!!
Scarborough: McCain’s Platform Is ‘Less Jobs And More Wars’
We are part of the Super Tuesday in Oklahoma. Last I looked, Edwards led on the Dem side and Huckster on the Pug side.
Wild huh.
Probably worth noting that Gore won.
Rudy will throw his support behine McCain tommorow morning at….
wht time?
Should have been a fuckin’ landslide though.
I see mccain’s age as a factor. His dad died of a heart attack a yr younger than he is now. He would be 72-75 and that’s kinda old in my book. He has had skin cancer 3x, limps, long record for dems to go after.
On the other hand is this good looking younger richer business man that most don’t know shit about. At this time, I think it mccain would be easier to beat.
I, also, miss ‘edit’
I blame Kathleen Harris and Scalia for that travesty… :-(
Agree completely.
((( newt )))
OMG! That is really nice. Just to think that there are genuinely caring people heading up groups of people….
Sure, McCain’s dad died before he reached John’s age, but look how long Cheney has been around after he died – I mean, it’s amazing! Even Walt Disney had to resort to cryogenics!
John McCain can cut in on some moderate Democrats?!
I’ve heard logical arguments about how McCain can’t win the nomination, and similarly logical arguments about Romney, Huckabee, Rudy, Thompson, Paul, Hunter, and Tancredo.
Some of them have proven to be true already, but eventually one of them will be wrong. Somebody *has* to win it, right?
Unless things end up with an open convention . . .
Newt? Cheney? Someone else?
Petro!
How’s Leopard?
I’ve been a bit surprised how well he seems to be holding up to the campaigning. The pace looks to be grueling.
We stop them from killing there so they won’t start killing here.
Sounds like Johnny Cash.
Great !
I have to get iLife 08 Trial software … anything out there ?
I think it will be more a matter of ‘not losing’ rather than ‘winning’.
Jomentum has spent a lot of facetime in cowshit the last couple of years. He’s due to get pissy or get gone.
I have the registered iLife 08 at work and love it!
I wonder who the poor sap was that got stuck telling judy that her tiara wearing hopes for the coronation are over? poor fella, hope he wore kelvar and nomex.
It’s great, ‘cept the new iMovie. But the old version is retained in the upgrade. $80 is fair.
Now that I’ve looked again at some Churchill quotes, I’ll list a few that I like:
Ending a sentence with a preposition is something up with which I will not put.
He has all of the virtues I dislike and none of the vices I admire.
I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly.
If you’re going through hell, keep going.
Man will occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of the time he will pick himself up and continue on.
Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.
I’ll stop there.
And Roberts was down there helping as well. Only to become Chief Justice of the Supreme Court later. Incestuous. Oh, and did I mention, disgusting?
Ya didn’t loan ‘em your set? How rude! ;-)
My main concern in Oklahoma is if Hillary gets the nod, our down-ticket Dems could take a beating, further reddening our state. There is an irrational hatred for anything Clinton, especially if it a not-man, by Oklahoma Republicans.
In other words, six more years of global warming denier homophobe Inhofe and no to Andrew Rice. This will effectively shut Oklahoma out of any progressive programs (green-collar jobs) because we don’t need them if there is no such thing, which will further drive down the opinion of Democrats.
See how that works?
Yup. Could be ugly. She’s not been looking like a happy woman of late.
lotsa blame to go around
Harris
Scalia
The Corvair guy (whatever the fuck his name is)
At the end of the day, I still blame Gore for letting Clinton’s failings distract from all his accomplishments.
That and really stupid ways of presenting fundamentially smart things like “The Information Superhighway” and The Lockbox”
Enough of that shit – the Dems this year are at least on message.
If the positions are not as strong as I would like, they do seem to be getting a clue about what is happening ‘on the ground’.
Just keep the “Democratic Strategists” out of it, and we will have a better president next year.
Heh, I’ll bet he was wearing a Brooks Bros suit too…!
McCain/Huckaby is their best shot in the general
I hope they don’t mae that choice.
I FBed you last week … it might recognize my Sony MicroMV videocamera and clips. I need it for 2-3 days, if it works I will buy the software.
I’ve heard that iPhoto08 does not recognize some photos that the the previous version does …
Would a ticket headed by a black Chicago lawyer or a smooth-talking trial lawyer from Carolina do any better, for those down-ticket candidates?
I’m not disagreeing with your assessment of things, mind you, but wanting to take it one step further.
Could someone do me a huge favor? Could someone please add these numbers?
Every time I do, I get a different answer.

McCain/Romney solves all their problems.
Oh, I think throwing his “hiney” was quite accurate as well.
i think i remember seeing a photo of him at the time in a rented dracula costume.

Excel is my friend.
McCain/Huckaby is their best shot in the general
agreed, and have said so here several times.
Again, I loved your “Vote the primary with your heart, and the general with your head’ line…
My experience is the a thoughtful thumbnail upgrade (no messing with your Mac while it’s setting up) keeps this from happening. And a database rebuild has solved it every time I’ve needed it.
The thing I don’t like about the new iPhoto is how it lumps all the photos into one file instead of the hierarchical folders, like the older versions did. Makes it very difficult to work with files they way I am accustomed to, being a cross-platform guy at work.

“Rush is God’s way of telling the world that there’s no such thing as karma.”
well put, Eli!
i got the same total.
I understand both sides. I don’t want one or two states deciding who becomes the Nominee (imagine if NY and California deci8ded to pull a Florida), and I don’t think it’s smart to decide who is to be the nominee a year before the electtion. There has to be some semblance of order in the process where all delegations have a role. That’s why Florida and Michigan were “punished”.
They will definitely be allowed back into the process and may even be decisive at some point at the convention. If the nominee is Hillary and that’s already selected by the time of the convention they’ll be in. If Obama wins the nomination ABOVE the number that MI and FLA could alter, they’ll be allowed in. Or the delegations could offer to accede to the nominations by the other states and yet still participate in the rulesmaking.
But if they are decisive if giving Hillary the nomination then there will be a floor fight about seating them. Is it fair that Hillary surreptitiously campaigns in those States and wins the delegations when the other candidates followed the rules in spirit and letter? Isn’t that unfair to the voters of all the other States? States who followed the rules?
One possible suggestion to resolve this issue is that the primaries in these States be considered “open” until a later date. That is, people who didn’t vote in the Primary could submit absentee ballots until that date. Only at that point would balloting be complete and delegates selected.
In addition, I’d throw your party leaders out on their ears for pulling this stunt.
upstairs with Jane and the fellow we all really want for President
New Thread Upstairs!!!
Edwards would be the best choice for downticket dems. Seems we still have a small problem with racism here, so Obama would be damaging to the ticket in Oklahoma. The sexism of a potential female President is on par, in Oklahoma, as the racism is for a potential black President. Add, the name Clinton and the resolve to defeat any and all democrats go up exponentially.
I have no hard data to back this up, but everyone I talk to about this, and I talk almost exclusively to Republicans, this view is virtually universal. They rebuke the notion of racism or sexism and base their views on the Clenis’s wife and the Muslim.

Once iPhoto 08 is installed and launched, it updates your existing photo database. The trick is to leave the machine alone while this is happening.
If there is a problem once this is done, rebuild the photo database. “Help” will tell you how.

The two hipster daughters from his first marriage are constantly out there, sometimes even butting in and answering questions the media asks McCain. I think his adopted son is over in Iraq, or at least has been. The adopted daughter I haven’t seen.
Excel says: 1,820,531
That was for the first set of numbers, not the second.
I agree with everything you have said, but would it be so hard for a national teevee newsreader or pundit to congratulate and commend those Democrats in Florida for showing up and voting, even knowing no delegates would be awarded?
Hold them up as true patriotic Americans is more encouraging than declaring them DOA, stepping over their bodies and calling it a meaningless “Beauty Contest.”
I think we may need some help with turnout to challenge the Bomb Iran Party.
Senator John McCain will visit Connecticut on Sunday, February 3rd at 1pm at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield. Senator McCain will be joined by Lt. Governor Mike Fedele, Senator Joe Lieberman, Representative Chris Shays, former Congressman Rob Simmons, State Senator Tony Guglielmo and – possibly – Governor Jodi Rell.
The “Super Bowl Sunday” campaign stop will be at the University Commons, 5151 Park Avenue in Fairfield.

Well, in a way I think it is great that McCain has won, although Mittens would have been great, too.
If I were writing a General Election add for the Dems against McCain, it would be the easiest thing in the world. The Republicans will say it’s ‘below the belt’ but I’d sure want them to explain why and how:
“Mr. McCain: for all of us with mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, grandmothers and grandfathers who have not survived their skin cancers (or any other cancer) because they did not see doctors in time for fear of expense or because they had no health coverage; please explain to me why you are more important and deserved doctors and superior care over my mother, father, daughter, son, niece, nephew, aunt, uncle, grandmother or grandfather by virtue of being a US Senator. Mr. McCain, explain this to me. THIS is why I am a Democrat!!!”
