He doesn’t know much about anything – let alone economics. His experience with economics involved wrecking companies and getting bailed out by his old man’s friends. Arbusto – dry wells and busto. Baseball – he traded Sosa.

In his last SOTU, Mr. Bush’s petulance and deception were on full display. He threatened vetoes of ANY tax increase. He demanded bipartisan support to cut government spending, while being the most partisan president in at least a century. He claimed to support making “healthcare affordable and accessible for all Americans” shortly after twice vetoing SCHIP. Sadly for Americans, his rhetoric was once again wildly out-of-step with his actions and interests.

Mr. Bush’s comments about the Constitution were reprehensible, as was his Rudy Giuliani-like references to 9/11 – “on a clear September day” – and his “bring ‘em on” promise of retribution – “we will bring justice to our enemies”. Equally dumbfounding was his claim to having “changed course” in Iraq militarily and to having improved the daily lives of Iraqis. Our troops are not coming home because of his policy of “return on success”. They are coming home because they are exhausted and we have no one with which to replace them. Even his GOP supporters couldn’t muster any credulity when he claimed that Iraqis were taking responsibility for their future.

Mr. Bush claimed that some in al Qaeda will not rest until they attack us here in Washington. Note to George: al Qaeda did that when you were a freshman president. The man who accomplished that, Osama bin Laden, remains at large. Among the miscellany sprinkled throughout his speech, Mr. Bush declared that he wants authority to buy food products directly from foreign farmers and other producers, bypassing the intermediaries he refuses to bypass when we dole out arms and reconstruction projects. He closed with his best zinger – “we must pass liability protection” for telecoms – including those who knowingly and repeatedly violated the law. Finally, he wants us to trust the hearts and minds of the American people – just not those who work in government.

George W. Bush’s last State of the Union speech confirmed the long-held diagnosis: this weak, small-minded, small-hearted, and destructive man is delusional. And will someone please tell him that the chimp smirk is NOT the most appropriate body language for his every message point.

West Wing writers and other pilots shows have people who research and have English degree’s!
