YJ, The shirt is gonna be made at the end of the tour with everyone who buys one having their name put on it like you see with High School graduate shirts with everybody in the class’ name on the back. Trust that it will look cool though, all of her shirt designs are awesome.

I don’t usually comment on this thread because I am basically pretty clueless about music.

However, here’s something I’m excited about.

Backstory- artist is “Quinn Walker”- he’s the best friend of my “godson” George (small g bec. they don’t believe in god). I remember both of them when they were both running around in diapers. I was in CT for xmas, staying with best friend from college, godson’s mom. Quinn showed up during one eve of hilarity, after, I got an email alerting to an NPR piece about him.

I didn’t much like the cut that was linked in the NPR story. But, I went and checked out more of Quinn’s stuff at his myspace site, and I loved it. The music has just kept haunting me.

Wow, same day as Jobim (YouTube, “Desafinado”). And Benny Golson (YouTube, “Along Came Betty”), who sometimes sounds like Jobim, with those long beautiful phrases. (And I’d forgotten that Golson wrote The Flintstones theme, as well as much of the music for the M*A*S*H tv show.)

And many happy returns, JandiraFerreira!

My spin: River: The Joni Letters, a rare recent cd purchase. Tina Turner’s “Edith” and the “Nefertiti” redux are the real knockouts for me, but it’s a terrific album all the way. I hope it gets grammys.

Of course, a pow’rful case could be made for pairing “Along Came Betty” with “The Girl from Ipanema” instead;o)
