Jane!
Yeah, that was a fun interview! I’m going downstairs to let them know we’re here.
We’re here!!!
Crazy doesn’t begin to describe it. Does anyone have any hard information pertaining to the rumblings that Short Ride may be tapped to be St. McCain’s running mate if their convention goes that way? Would THAT be enough for Harry Reid to boot him out of the Democratic caucus and strip him of his committee seats?
Damn, I missed it! Willard was surreal last night.
Hey, Keith’s wearing his “Special Comment” tie…
(note to self - get a life)
McCain looked formidable to me last night. I know a lot of people to whom he might be really appealing. They would probably bitye on Joe , too.
Christy…
Thanks for the answer downstairs re Taylor. I think the world of you and Jane. Two of the finest people I look to for some sound thinking.
We are living in some rather frightening times and things seem to be going from bad to worse each day. I hope some of the wisdom I read on this site can find its way into the main and move this country back in the right direction. You guys sure are doing your best on that score.
As a child of Illinois, the Faux News whacko who didn’t apparently know that Lincoln was shot ought to be deported.
WPITW indeed.
Well, I was really bummed before. mayeb I’m comming out of it. Is this something everyone has seen/heard before except me?
MY NEW CAR
I bought a new Lexus 330 but returned to the dealer the next day because I couldn’t get the radio to work.
The salesman explained that the radio was voice activated.
“Nelson,” the salesman said to the radio.
The Radio replied, “Ricky or Willie?”
“Willie!” he continued and “On The Road Again” came from the speakers. Then he said, “Ray Charles!”, and in an instant “Georgia On My Mind” replaced Willie Nelson.
I drove away happy, and for the next few days, every time I’d say, “Beethoven,” I’d get beautiful classical music
If I said, “Beatles,” I’d get one of their awesome songs.
Yesterday, a driver ran a red light and nearly creamed my new Lexus, but I swerved in time to avoid him. I yelled,
“Ass Hole!”
Immediately Hail-to-the-Chief began playing.
I see a McCain Lieberman thing coming. Oy… Can’t these people just go away and let some grown ups take the con.
According to C&L CNN has benched Carville and Begala for partisanship.
Ha?
When we lived in CA, Mrs. Peterr was never home in time from work to see KO. I would tell her about bits and pieces of it, but she’d look at me a bit oddly, as if to say “no, it couldn’t possibly be like that.”
Now that we’re in KC MO, she gets it.
I bailed on the NYC FDL meetup and went to an Met Opera dress rehearsal. It was wonderful to escape this madness for a few hours. That meet up should be interesting.
What we’ve got to do is tie the rotting corpse of W and Iraq around McCain’s neck like an albatross and beat him with it like a gong. (How’s THAT for mixing a metaphor?) But I trust you get my drift…
He may actually have been quoting Bush….! I’m not surprised…he should be deported for a variety of reasons…!
I’ve been saying that for a while, too. People looked at their bogus field and laughed. they are laugable, really. But McCain could be problems. Esepcially if the uncritical view that “the surge is working” gains much more traction. Then he can say he stuck with it and now we’re winning while BO would habve cut & run & Hillary doesn’t know what she wants. I’d much rather Willard was running for them.
707!!! No spew alert though — not fair!
My first thought was, “Well, if you’re gonna start eliminating those that show partisanship, you’re gonna hafta go alot farther than them!”
When Lincoln got shot did that, like, start the Cuban missile crisis?
Which opera? Gawd, I miss culture…
KO’s worst person in the world was a Fox News reporter, doing a puff piece on Bush. At one point, he (the reporter) talked with Bush about Lincoln and the Civil War, and they compared the two presidents, and saying something along the lines of Lincoln not being well liked as he left office.
“Left office?” said Keith. “He had just been reelected, despite all the casualties of the civil war. And he was shot. He didn’t leave, he was killed.”
The best part, though, was that it wasn’t completely clear whether this was the reporter or Bush making the comparison. “If it was the reporter, you can write it off as part of a puff piece. But if it was the president, there’s just one thing we can do: MOVE!”
(paraphrasing, from memory)
No no no, silly.. Grenada.
Well, it’s a start…
I thought Castro was behind Lee Harvey Oswald. You mean he planted John Wilkes Booth, too?
McCain/Leiberman
do it—please–do it
talk about a loser idea—-Joe tanks another?
I live in Orlando. Finding culture is about as easy as finding a decnt bagel. There’s really no point to looking.
The surge is working because no one is reporting from Iraq. I think the have continued the same level or MORE bombing since the beginning of the way.
The Iraqis in Sadr city are demanding no US bases and they want the US outta there.
Anyway it’s election season and pocket book issues seem to dominate… as if the economy wasn’t going to hell in a handbasket for the last 7 yrs.
Who did the anthrax attacks in 2001? What’s with out spooks.. can’t they solve that one?
What a media we have.
Manon Lescaut by Puccini.
Oh, lordy, I’m sorry. How do you manage to escape The Mouse?
i cant stand either of em,but that is trully rich, chicken noodle news!
Oh, I am SOOOOOO jealous… Who was singing?
Were it not for Opera, ballet, the museums I would give up on humanity… and sailing which has nothing to do with humanity.
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Pucccini
Eli is upstairs discussing Stupies taste in art.
Me too!! Sigh…
Karita Matilla was Manon.. she was great… and Des Griex was Marcello Giordani.
The Met Opera productions are incredible. If you come to NYC give me a shout and we can go to the opera. It’s mind blowing.
I was born and raised in NYC, but finally it was the noise that got to me. The incessant noise… I booked 18 years ago. I still miss going to opera and the Philharmonic in the park…
Of course it is so expensive and I was fortunate to get a free tic to a dress rehearsal which is virtually the same as the real deal but in the middle of the day. Love the dress rehearsals at the Met.
I may be there in 2013 for my 50th high school reunion — if you’re still there I may take you up on that!!
I moved out of the village and now live in quiet southern westchester 20 min from Lincoln center. I don’t think I could live now without ballet or opera performances… especially ballet.
Come sooner! I may be gone by then.,.. it’s getting hard to take this country… really I am ready to leave when the wifey retires.
LOL…
Everybody knows it was Battista and or the mob that shot Lincoln.
Italy La Fenice
I heard it was the British to get back at him for starting the American Revolution.
Didn’t you realize that it repeats @ 9 pm West Coast time [as I have to constantly remind my West Coast buddies]? Or wasn’t she home in time for that either?
