Noonan is apparently too stupid to realize that the reason the Republican Party is falling apart is because it was co-opted by the neocons on the one side and the fundies on the other, each of which exploited the authoritarian vulnerabilities of the rank and file. This is the second time that feingold has teed off on Edwards. The first time I removed myself from all his mailing lists and emailed him why I was pissed with him. His better place would have been to say nothing or endorse one of the other candidates. As it was his remarks were only meant to “damage” the Edwards campaign. So here’s my response to that. Have the first phase of the thing be solely the construction of projects that have already been planned and prepared by state governments. Every state has a laundry list of these things. Roads or bridges or new sections of railroad that have been planned for years, where the transportation studies have been done, the preliminary engineering studies and planning have been finished and everything is ready to go, except that the money just hasn’t materialized. You could easily spend $50 billion of stimulus money on these types of projects and have ground breaking happening all over America within the next few months.

Did anyone catch the NYT’s endorsements of Hillary Clinton and John McCain? Naturally, they chose the two most hawkish candidates, but what I found interesting was that flip flops and inconsistencies that were used to disqualify candidates from Edwards to Romney were treated as minor quibbles when it came to the Times’ choices.

I guess one measure of the lack of importance of the Times endorsements is the lack of discussion about them.

Well, it’s going to be indoors. *g* And here in NYC we have public transportation, so don’t have to drive (though some are).

Bush (technically) didn’t destroy the Republican Party. It was the implementation of the Republican Party Agenda that did. Those ideas were around a long time before Bush. He was simply the one to carry much of those “visions” that most Republicans have, to fruition.

And it could have been far worse, Peggy!

Imagine if he had actually instituted those Personal Investment Accounts with a plunging stock market?

Imagine how utterly destroyed the Party would be if he actually had pandered to the pro-Lifers and won a ban on all abortions and started arresting obstreticians?

Or if he had been able to shut down the public school system through his “voucher program”.

Imagine the chaos, Peggy!

Well, if someone wins the nomination outright (minus those states delegations) the seating would not matter to anyone but the States. But if she needs those delegations to win she will NOT get the support of the other delegations. It’s dead in the water. I’m not sure why she’s raising it now.

Oh wait! The race in Florida…this might lure more people to vote for her there.

But it’s ultimately an empty statement. If Hillary has enough votes to pass this resolution, she’s have enough votes to win the nomination. If Obama has enough votes to win, but bringing in Florida/Michigan would lead to him losing to Clinton his delegates won’t support it. It’s all pretty obvious.
