This morning after a second cup of coffee I knew I had to call my Senator about his poor vote yesterday. A trip to the dentist sounded better than calling him again and I needed some motivation or a way to lighten things up before dialing. So I actually put on a foamy red clown nose and put this song on for background music and made my call.
We do what we have to do, for our Democracy of course. And remember, never let them take your flowers.

Eureka!
At the cost of criticism, play for us!
Eureka!
On my mind: Did the neighbors see you with that clown-nose on?
Daisies in gun barrels works, ES!
Good evening my fellow wildflowers..)
I drove around in my patrol car with a red clown nose on one halloween. figured it was better than a fake pig nose.
Evenin’
I am jammin to da blues on a local station.
The neighbors have seen me in less.. So they don’t come around much anymore. Which also wards off Jehovah’s Witness folks as well.
Wisely, so… *g*
Luv you…
I used to hold employee meetings where I made everyone wear clown noses.. It’s a great way to make a point without being taken to seriously.
i don’t do that since i don’t wanna cause any vision loss to anyone accidentally catching a glimpse
I’m bowing out early tonite, I bid ya’ll a fond adieu… Aloha Oe!!!
Does anyone with kids know who is singing this song?
Ciao!
g’nite CT
Give some green love to John.
Make sure John Edwards gets to Denver with as many delegates as possible.
All the Comfortable Rich have put their money on Hillary and Obama.
linky?
I’m reminded of the song
”Where did all the flowers go, long time passing.”
Well you know I only have a couple of neighbors over several surrounding miles.. They just picked a bad time to take a walk that day..)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=0NxJ5BudBug
Oh, no, you didn’t?
No clue…
Around here people just turn into pillars of salt. The deer like that, it’s all good…
don’t forget to digg this
Works like a charm, especially when you have something of a personal nature to critique.. People take it very well when a clown nosed boss tells them so.
Just hoping that Edwards has a good showing tomorrow. I know that Feingold is skeptical of him, and I understand why. But movements are made when politicians succeed with particular messages.
OT: I loved this story on Open Left about Man-on-Dog Santorum loudly dissing McCain during a train ride:

the salt would be taken out by our rain. so far, 5.82 inches since midnight
Ahem, so how do you feel about art history? Want to help me?
Holy Crap!
That sounds like what we got when it flooded like hell just a while back.
Though one spot got over 14 inches in 24 hrs.
nuts ‘n berries, man. great song.
*** blush*** Tell me more?
i’ve gotten 9 inches in one day (3 weeks ago) and been fine. i sit up on bedrock above the creek.
If this is paradise, I wish I had a lawn mower.
Ahh yes, the beauty of solid rock, paint it green and call it a lawn.
don’t leave me standing here; I can’t get used to this lifestyle.
that’s a lot of rain, Suz
We want to help anyone who has art, and hope to keep it, OR sell it. There are lots of folks who call me all time for auction values… it is hard to to tell someone that their Rembrandt is a museum print.
the moss keeps it green - naturally
Sorry, dear, are you stil here?
Love the talking heads. I saw David Byrne play at the Portland Zoo a couple summers ago. Evidently the song Perfect World was inspired by a female friend of his from Portland and something about her trips or some such. He told the audience all about it in candid detail, then proceded to put on one amazing show.
btw, the grassy outdoor ampitheatre at the Portland zoo sits at a high elevation relative to the surrounds so that the backdrop of ridges lined with tall firs and the summer sunsets make for quite a dancing scene.
That sounds beautiful, Muzzy.
…nine inches is a good size…rain
Heh
hey spidey - what the planets say about politics?
Sorry.. How can I help you with that? Unfortunately, as an antiques buyer.. I have a lot of experience telling folks they have nothing of monetary value.
we average between 60 and 90 inches a year. last year we only got 27 for the year - the year before, 75. before today’s storm, i was sitting at 21 inches to date. just checked the creek and its moving fast but not worrisome high.
…you read that sentence after posting I trust? :-)
uh the planets…well we’ve got Pluto into Capricorn today, the first time it has been there since 1742. For astrologers it is a big big deal and we are scurrying around trying to interpret the tea leaves…
ES, I had no idea about your profession. This is a major part of my job.
I live in a wonderful artsy community…Artists keep me sane (somewhat).
crap, i hate it when i omit words that i cudda sworn i typed
Is it Overindulged? That’s what the Myspace page is called.
Hiya, pups!
Just back from the open house for Diane Benson’s new campaign digs. The place had seemed a lot bigger without over 100 people in it.
The coolest thing that happened, IMHO, was when the Anchorage Tlingit and Haida Dancers did three dances, Diane finally joined in. She hadn’t danced with the group since her son - who danced in the group for a long time when he was a kid- lost both his legs in Iraq. But, she joined in the last dance. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room.
Snowed almost a foot last night.
Listening wind.
Mojique.

Sounds similar, thanks!
Suzanne, looking the maps, you are either in northern california or alabama tonight. If memory serves, you’re in the redwoods. Mind the gulleywashers.
We’re set to have 3 to 7 ” of snow on Mt. Hood tomorrow day followed by 12-18″ Sat night. I still ski and am actually heavy enough these years to negotiate a pleasing balance bewteen gravity and the deep. Looks like Sunday.
They were rumoring freezing rain out of the Gorge tomorrow. Great, I have things to do.
i’m in the santa cruz mountains along the central coast - north of monterey and south of san francisco/san jose.
we had about 5 to 6″ of snow on the summits all around me from the storms all this week. now they are melting in the rain just like macarthur park
Was nice to see Naomi Wolf posting @ Huffpo today.
I love me some MacArthur Park from way back- “someone left the cake out in the rain…I don’t think that I can take it, because it took so long to bake it…and I’ll never have that recipe again, oh noooo, {vibrato} oh noooooooo”
Speaking of condensation, clouds, and general atmospheric oddities, I just found this novel video/tune:
Sky Was Pink
This guy is going places.
http://rawstory.com/news/2007/....._0125.html
for some strange reason, i always get it confused with this song
I am not a Simpsons fan, but…
D’oh!
to da big house even
that is fine eye candy in that video
Procol Harum is another matter, but back to the first song, Donna Summer shreds Richard Harris’ rendition, imo.
I’d try to describe it better, but I can’t type in disco.
i’m one of the few donna summer fans
ok pups, that’s about it for me tonight. g’nite all
Testing.
hoo wee I’m sleepy too. Off to engage with my REM’s benign illusions.
I wonder what kind of dance moves Donna Summer would have generated back in the 70’s to these guys singing autobahn , hah hahn.
Buenos Suenos.
Gnite folks
“Was nice to see Naomi Wolf posting @ Huffpo today.”
Thanks for the link! good to know where she blogs.

ET was wondering how you were and where things stood in the state of the three senators–if you remember way back that I sent you a bunch of links to pages about Sen. Young. I have lost the link to you blog and could google it, but at this hour I should also think about going to sleep.
I am nostalgic for scandalitis, now that primarypartisanship has gotten progressives treating candidate proponents as if they were Lorita Doan or Idiot Johnson at a hearing. So serve me up a scandal I can relish.
on second thought, it you have time or inclination, another picture of Hughes’ list. I like to imagine receiving pictures of it unrolled in various places as it moves inexorably toward DC in time to arrive for a seat at the inaugural. Skipping the balls because it needs to be first thing the next day in the office of the AG-nominee. Regent university graduates falling to their knees as it rolls by….
Definitely time to go to bed, as I am clearly already dreaming.
nite all.
Like the gnome in the movie Amelie, if anyone remembers it.
BSRH!
scandalitis may resurface here soon. I’m working on other stuff right now.
I just tonight realized (h/t KO) that we are almost surely going to have an old-style nominating convention selecting the Democratic nominee (who will likely be our next president).
In a three-way race, nobody is likely to get a majority. Also, there are a huge number of non-pledged delegates — see here. So, it could easily happen that the person who wins the most delegates in the primaries will not get the nomination.
Excellent article by Naomi Wolfe, thanks for pointing that out. She also has some great links to follow from the Huffpo piece!
Apropos of the likely possibility of an old-style nominating convention, I found a link to this at truthout.
How much ya wanna bet these are Ron Paukl voters?
Apparently election officials are already noticing that many voters are writing in a candidate on their mail-in ballot that is a member of the wrong party. Very likely these are people writing in Ron Paul. The Republicans have closed their election to registered Republicans and thus inedependents and Democrats who wish to vote for Paul will not be able to…so they are writing his name in when they receive an inappropriate ballot.
Are Buttocks an excretory organ?
Is referring to “a man with three buttocks” a descriprtion of a sexual organ? Monty Python and PBS stations everywhere are in a whole heap of FCC trouble then!
Is Beavis and Butthead filthy and lewd?
Cinnamonape, are you back in the Homeland?
Hmmmm!
People are lured into predatory sub-prime mortgages and figure out Creative Ways To Avoid Paying Excessive Interest Rates
The banks who made the loans to them, and drove their neighbors out of their homes through foreclosure say “You’re cheaters!” Boo-hoo!
Yep! Back in Sacka-tomatos! And start teaching on Monday!
What do you teach? (and creative indeed!)
Well, I’m off to slumberland. But if anyone in the morning side of the US wants to discuss some things here’s a bit of the news caught on the Left Coast overnight.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/cq/200....._pyaKs0NUE">Another one bites the dust
Yet another Republican Congressman decides not to run next election. Could it be he needs to attend to “family matters”, or has he simply accomplished all his goals (i.e. no one is slipping him money under the table anymore)?
Badges? We don’t want your F*cking badges!
Pakistan decides they don’t want anyone watching!
And despite the Dow and NASDAQ declines yesterday, the Asian markets rebounded considerably. Someone has decided the US is not the place to invest.
cinnamonape,
before you’re off to sleep, who’s the congressman retiring? your link doesn’t work
hmm

Good morning Elliot. Seems quiet at the lake today.
Ahh, Good Morning Jim
it’s freezing here this morning, almost chipped the tip of my nose off on the door earlier.
just sitting here waiting to pull up a chair :)
We are having a relative heat wave today…up to 25 degrees after days at minus 22.
you must live in a very cold place! below zero is below my cold tolerance. Just chivvering at the thought of it
sane people are sleeping in.
I, on the other hand, am here. Mornin’ all.
Good morning, pups. It’s TOMC and Bob Herbert in the NYT today. TOMC is on the road with Rudy. She says that when a presidential candidate confides to his audience that he could give his speech in his sleep, it may be time for him to consider another line of work. Mr. Herbert has questions for the Clintons. He says it’s legitimate to ask, given the destructive developments of the last few weeks, whether the Clintons are capable of being anything but divisive.

The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and there are toasted Thomas’ English muffins. I’m headed upstairs where the topic of the day is gardens. I’m hoping for some good tips!
