That’s what I’m sure they’ll tell us, anyway:
A new St. Petersburg Times poll shows the former Massachusetts governor and Arizona senator neck and neck among Florida Republicans, while Rudy Giuliani’s Florida-or-bust strategy has been a bust.
Among Florida voters likely to vote in Tuesday’s primary, 25 percent are backing McCain and 23 percent Romney, a statistical tie, while Giuliani and Mike Huckabee were tied for third place with 15 percent each.
Meanwhile, Rudy got pwned — again — by Ron Paul last night.
Senator John McCain has won the Republican party’s caucuses in Louisiana while longshot candidate Ron Paul took second place, the state party said Wednesday, citing preliminary results.
Rudy’s winning like the surge has been a success.

are we all alone here?
Rudy — the man in the blue surge suit.
Hi, you’re not all alone. Given the figures above it appears that “Undecided” is beating Rudy again.
At this point I really don’t care which of them wins Florida, just so long as Ron Paul steals Rudy’s lunch money again…
Poor Rudy was harassed by a 16-foot rat today, seems some firefighters don’t much care for him
Ouch! That may leave a mark. The firefighters do loathe him.
Maybe Fred Kagan and Michael O”Hanlon can pen an Op-Ed
for the Post explaining why Rudy’s plan is working.
BTW, will Ron Paul be at the MSNBC debate?
Hate to bleat and run, but adios for now.
Poor Rudy…he’s the last guy to notic…that laying on a beach in Florida, sunning himself, drinking cocktails with the 3rd wife, while waiting for the other republic schmucks to show up to the Florida primary was not the right strateeeegery! Love it.
I guess it would be left up to Bobo to do the job for the Times? I’m not really sure how Bobo feels about 9iu11ani — he had to live through his tenure as Mayor.
The only people who ever supported Rudee were in the media
Less and less CNN mentions Ron Paul’s primary status. They pretend he doesn’t exist.
Here is torture that needs to be reported to Amnesty International – getting into bed with Rudy every night.
Wow, this is great news for the Republicans!
When/if Rudy tanks, then on to Mittsolini, Squirrelster, and McSurge…
The Obama and Hillary sniping fest is tedious….
Bring on Edwards…
C&L
What is the procedure for removal from the caucus?
With one strategy bust under his belt, Rudy is a great choice for the Republics as their new Decider.
too bad he won’t be on the ticket, he was the easiest of all to beat
They way I see it if there are 60 votes needed for a cloture motion, then all it would have required one of that Gang of 17 to jump ship. I don’t think the Republicans wanted to test their loyalties. So it’s off ’til Monday, just an hour or so before the Wretched State of The Union Address.
I imagine that the pugs will be welcoming McCain back, and most of the Senators won’t be absent. So the question is, how many of the Democrats can be peeled off that group of 17. Some of them may not want to irritate their colleagues by blocking Amendments from being voted on individually as it could come back to bite them.
And perhaps things could get so heated that Bush may have to wait for the Senate to recess before he can give his speech. That could be embarassing, and a defeat of the cloture could even get him more than a little heated and thrown off his composed speech.
don’t forget krystol, get everyone who is always wrong to tell us rudy is winning
Hey: what if they fillibuster? Would that could that come in the middle of his big speechifying? That mite be sorta cool.
Re Rudi and FLA:
HE WILL WIN. Seriously. Mark my words.
I am saying this as of today, 1/24/08.
Those FL diebold and ESS machines will say whatever they want them to say. Rudi wins big in FL. Another “big surprise.” And more moaning about how the exit polls got it wrong. Not a word about the obvious vote fraud.
I mean, let’s get real: they’ve stolen the last 2 FL general elections so why not steal a primary.
I am trying to do the math..49 thugs…McCain will be no show..48 Thugs+Lieberman+11BushDogs. I guess blocking cloture is possible but I can’t see 11 BushDogs jumping ship.
Actually, a flagrant theft of Florida by Rudolph would be EXCELLENT. You can bet that Mitt & McCain will go after that like stink in a garbage can.
Good point!
It’s one thing to steal an election from the American people. It’s quite another to steal one from other Republicans.
wow, that is a great prospect;
*roots for rudy to win florida*
I personally am gonna miss RudyPatooty. I mean how many more crossdressing Presidential candidates are we likely to see in our lifetimes? Oh wait, I forgot, Jeb Bush IS waiting in the wings ain’t he.
We note that Obama, Bill and Hillary are still playing nasty in the sandbox. We think John Edwards suits us just fine for our next president.
If only there were enough people like you to get him elected …
Rudy needs to be vetted.
Hi folks….
You know, that is a great scenario….
Let’s all rout for Rudee and a Florida win!…
boy, it took a long time to get an answer.
I was startin’ to get a complex…
Kinda like Democrats caving to Bush will prove they’re in the majority?
Mr. S watching Nightly News: Boner’s laughin’ at Nancy.
Who isn’t?
Had the very same thought—-you know—great minds thinking alike—-
Rout for Rudee and a Floria win!….

Did you know that there was actually a Republican caucus in Louisiana last night that decided 15 delegates? Bet not! The MSM didn’t even mention the debacle that occurred there.
Turned out the Louisiana Republican Party got wind that Ron Paul supporters had amassed huge numbers to win the delegates. So the party officials tried to decertify many of the Paulistas by challenging if they were really Republicans, and discredentialing them if they weren’t on the party voters lists. That led to near riots, so many of the Paul voters placed provisional “challenged ballots”.
Then the unofficial results were announced. Somehow McCain ended up winning a bare plurality to get number one. Paul was the number two CANDIDATE. But the Paulistas assert that they had far more voters in every caucus than McCain. Romney came in third.
But what was really odd was that there were no votes for Giuliani, Huckabee, Thompson. Instead they created a cartel, with some of Romney’s supporters and they fixed the vote. First they tried to give some supporters to McCain. Then they created a “Non-Committed” group called “Pro-Life, Pro-Family” (PLPF…which was a joke since Giuliani is hardly Pro-Life) that in fact got the most support and thus blocked Paul from winning the delegation.
The Paul supporters are screaming like banshees and berzerkers about the Louisiana Republican Party robbing them, and have threatened to “make you lose everything in November”.
I think there were plenty of Republicans who supported the idea of Rudy (as it was packaged), but the better they got to know the real thing, the less they liked him.
We want to know all about Rudy’s business dealings and his connections. We know about his judgement (Kerik). But we we feel there’s more, at this point, to Mr. G., than meets the eye.
I hate to see him leave. It would have been really fun to have him in the general election.
Particularly since he came out against retroactive immunity for telecoms and in favor of Sen. Dodd. We like him.
I totally agree with that.
AP – The Bush administration is willing to send a small number of U.S. combat troops to Pakistan to help fight the insurgency there if Pakistani authorities ask for such help, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Thursday.
So many Repugs to indict, so little time …
Edwards is rising! My money’s on him. He can beat any of the Puke candidates.
Bhutto who?
These guys are Nucking Futs … having Americans on Pakistani soil will bolster Al Qaeda throughout the country … Pakistan is already a tinderbox, let’s not strike a match …
They love to play with matches….
One step closer to The Rapture, don’t you know…
Any predictions as to what will happen in Pakistan by the end of this summer?…
I don’t think anything is going to stop that train wreck….
No offense, but I don’t see much difference. Stealin’s Stealin. I never met a thief who cared about WHO he was stealing from.
So far Edwards seems to have the thickest skin and takes the best punch. Obama needs a lot of work..the thugs will beat him to a pulp.
According to TPM, the “PLPF” group was composed of Thompson supporters who switched to uncommitted when it looked like he was going to drop out. Do you know anything about that? (If so, it makes me sorry Fred didn’t stay in a while longer — we could have had four GOP candidates who had won a primary!)
They will have elections, Mush will hand off the whole mess to the incoming President and flee … kinda like what will happen here in January ‘09 …
I don’t think anything is going to stop that
trainIran wreck….One positive point — as far as I know, the fundies don’t have any prophecies about what should happen to Pakistan.
I noticed MSN has the MSNBC gooper debate billed as “do-or-die”. They should bill the gooper debate as the freakiest horror carnie show on the planet. I’m sure people would watch then.
Why John Edwards has sent a personalized letter to li’l old me … “It’s wrong for your government to spy on you.” …
Well, I’m in Canada, but I agree with what you’re saying … keep fighting John, the others are running out of steam …
RUDY!
We know what Mitt and Rudy think about the FISA, but Rudy is getting beat by Ron Paul. I checked his site but did not see any current press clip on FISA (only his policy position tab, not releases). Hey – he should be able to tell me in the debate tonight at 9pm ET.
I think Mitt gave the most Bush like answers in the Presidential Powers questions from the Boston Globe (other than the RUDY! and Fred types that did not answer):
Candidates on executive power: a full spectrum
They assess use of signing statements
RUDY, now Mr. 4%
One thing that really annoys me about Rudy’s candidacy is that he was the presumptive nominee for like an entire year. And he’s totally crashed and burned in spectacular fashion.
Yet, there’s not much chatter how badly he’s tanked, and how that money being basically wasted on him affects the GOP.
Candidates on executive power: a full spectrum
They assess use of signing statements
http://www.boston.com/news/nat…..stionnaire
In a way, it’s kind of comforting — even if you have lots of money and a strong organization, if the candidate sucks you can still crash and burn.
Our felonious ex-governor of CT, Rowland, now apparently has a gig as officer of economic development in Waterbury(?) Which is to say, arrest a gooper for stealing and they pop back up like a bad apple. It’s the G. Gordon Liddy Rule. Night all.
Yup, I believe that train has multiple stops in the Middle East…
On that note, gotta go do something slightly productive….
Aloha pups!….
Um … foment an uprising in a Nuclear State ?!!
Seems like it’s from the Fundy Playbook to hasten the rapture …
I guess you can look on it as a warning not to elect bozos like ours, who will do to you what ours have done to us. John cares about you!
OT..Nice picture of Dennis and Liz a C&L
link
I’m sure that couldn’t have anything to do with the fact that it’s being broadcast on MSNBC… “It’s exciting, people! Really!”
Most likely to secure the oil pipeline route…this Administration is not spiritual in any way, shape, or form.
Putting the fox in charge of the chicken coop and G. Gordon Liddy rules.
And I would love for John and Elizabeth to be in the White House for the next 8 years !
That would be such a contrast from the two who currently reside there.
We do have a Bush clone as our leader but he has a minority government (score one for the Parliamentary system) and will NOT ever attain a majority …
oh, I am SO sorry they are throwing their money in the incinerator, SO sorry
Damn, hadn’t thought about it that way. A fundamentalist government in Pakistan is way more plausible than the “Left Behind” scenario where Russia tries to nuke Israel for no apparent reason, but God saves them.
Assuming that your is right, since it usually is, does that mean that we have the entire weekend to barrage the 17 Senators and any Rethugs that might be inclined to our side with letters, faxes, phone calls, the communication weapon of your choice basically, and insist that they listen to us? Let them know we’re paying attention! Repeat often that we are their base! Demand constituent services in the form of protecting our rights (their main job, after all.)
And Wolfowitz is being appointed to some new State Department post, apparently. If you’re a Republican “resigned in disgrace” means never having to say you’re sorry.
I wish the Dems had followed Kagro X’s strategy of impeaching all these lesser Bushies specifically so they can never serve in government again.
In a way, it’s kind of comforting — even if you have lots of money and a strong organization, if the candidate sucks you can still crash and burn.

Should he even get a golden ticket into the race though. Also it seems he is financing his whole operation (other than the slave labor) on other peoples dime so his book rights & speaking fees will go up. The only one he would go to DC to blow would be Bush but the idiot suggested Kierak the criminal instead of himself like Dick.
Good Heavens, what will DK do all day, if he loses his seat in Congress … *g*
Rumsfeld and Wolfie…they’re all still here working in Dick’s shadow government.
BAH HA HA. LOL
Tweety Mathews gets the band and the tube all blowing in his earpiece!
Yes, DK story is covered before Rudy tanking story.
Tweety seems whacked out with Mitt going for the crown. Didn’t McCain get a halo last time?
I’m not sure his fees will go up; he seems to have lost quite a bit of credibility by crashing and burning.
It’s interesting to speculate about which Gooper ends up losing out the most by failing. Will Rudy have trouble getting speaking gigs and girlfriends now that he’s a loser? Will Fred Thompson still get acting gigs? (Okay, those are probably the only two, but still.)
Oh, and now breaking down a story.
Sylvester Stallon endorses McCain and is sending him after Chuck Norris of Huckabee.
!
HOLY JOE.
He just called his state FLA as buyable — “yeah”.
Joe Scarbrough.
Excuse me. I meant to say to Cinnamonape: Assuming your analysis is right…
… as if the circus really needed another clown …
…eep, I just said Mary’s magic word … *g*
clinton and obama are dead to me if they dont oppose the tlecom immunity by JOINING the filibuster.
I will not vote. If we have to have a gooper president or DINO president, let it be without my vote.
I speak for my family, who are 7 out of 7 election voters–four of us.
Why wait until jan 2009 to lead. LEAD NOW. come to the senate, trailing the campaign reporting tail, and call bullshit on this bogus effort to hide criminality by Bush under the guise of protecting America.
Tweety is making fun of elderly people. THen he screams out a huge laugh all to himself rising a bit off his chair…he is literally off his rocker.
Petrocelli, You can be sure our government is spying on you since you live in the godless land up north. ;-)
LOL !!!
I think they’ve given up on us now that we’ve labeled America “unsafe for Refugees” …
Who ever thought the 9/11 hero would run such a cowardly race, and think this put all the chips on Florida strategy would actually work? What a shocker.
Get us a video clip; and Jane or Christy, help us get it to AARP, that is to the right people there.
Once AARP gets ahold of Tweety he is dead meat. Not that there is a lot of meat on a tweety.
Who really thought that Rudy was a 9/11 hero ?
not even rudy
but I bet bush bought it
Bush knew the truth, he just sold Rudy as a hero to bolster his own image.
Why, Tweety of course!
I hope he wins. That’ll give them, what? 4 different winners? All losers, too. But he’s tankin’.
Agree with you, BT. Some threads way back, I suggested that those with relations in FL to report on what they are hearing at the pool or the publix supermarket. Even true Blues must know some Republicans.
Tweety knew the truth, he just sold Rudy as a hero to bolster his own image … *g*
Remember, the AG, Howdy Doody McCollum is Rudy’s state chairman.
But hey! Floridians. We gotta get on the horn with our spaceman senator. Where is he on this FISA situation?
Article te other day down here about how the Repugs are all over Flori-duh and totally ignoring Hispanic voters. Remember when Mel martinez was made chairman of RNC? All that talk of bringhing Hiospanic voters into the fold? Didn’t happen. That party is in shit shape. I wish our people would just realize that.
BSRH, I posted a link to that newspaper article-from the Sarasota paper, I think – that picked up the NYT “Mr. Nasty” story from a yesterday or 2 days ago. Didja see it? I think you asked specifically for that. He had an event down here a few weeks ago and there’s just no buzz. He’s got a lot of support, still. But things aren’t trending well. Everywhere he goes people ask him why his poll numbers are going into the shitter. He’s a jerk. he’’s been spending $$ to run TV ads all over for a few weeks now.
there’s alot of TV markets here. That was alot of $$. Ya know what? Nobody was really paying attention. Now Willard & McCain are running their ads. Tey were smart enough to wait. Rudy pissed way his money.
Here are some links to Paul supporter and other Republican websites about the composition of the PLPF slate that was used to block Pauls access to real delegates.

From the Ringside site you can see how Thomson’s withdrawal led to others using his supporters to block a Paul victory.
And don’t forget! It’ll be good for McCain.
