Hooray, Bush's credit line just went up again!
"Funding for U.S. operations in Iraq and Afghanistan and other activities in the war on terrorism expanded significantly in 2007," the Congressional Budget Office said in a report released on Wednesday.
War funding, which averaged about $93 billion a year from 2003 through 2005, rose to $120 billion in 2006 and $171 billion in 2007 and President George W. Bush has asked for $193 billion in 2008, the nonpartisan office wrote.
And, of course, the great thing is, old dudes like Bush are doing it NEW STYLE.
Not only do they make young people go fight in their wars (that's Old School), but because they don't raise taxes to pay for it and just pull the money out of the air and put it on credit they make those surviving young warriors PAY FOR THEIR WAR (and really it's not a war it's an occupation) after BushCo dies of old age (that's the new manufactured reality!).
Bush has opposed paying the cost of waging war in Iraq and Afghanistan with tax increases or other specific offsets.
That means that nearly every penny spent gets added to the U.S. debt. The CBO estimated that just the interest payments on the debt would total $234 billion this year, more than the likely $250 billion budget deficit for the year.
These annual deficits and steep interest payments on borrowing all get rolled into the running tally that is the government's debt -- the more-than-$9-trillion figure.
The debt problem snowballs long-term, especially if the escalating costs of government-run health care and retirement programs are not reined in and if the United States maintains a large long-term military presence in Iraq.
So for the politicians who started the war and perpetuate the occupation, they pay absolutely no cost whatsoever. In fact, they politically profit by pushing the "ephemeral" concept of "victory" or at least "non-defeat". While those who actually fought it by their orders get to pay for it both coming and going.
Hope you weren't counting on the government being able to afford to treat your PTSD someday soldier?

Shit man, I checked this Bush dude out at freedcreditreport.com and they say they’ve never heard of the guy. Are you sure you have the right country?
Hmmmmm. I just now had an idea for a stimulus package.
362!
Gee, Attaturk, combined with the mortgage money pump we were talking about last thread, you’d think someone was fighting a class war against us or something. You know, someone who’s always quick to accuse the other fellow of doing so.
In a similar vein (do I ever mean that!) Prof. Cole gives us reason 5,358,970 why we should celebrate our leaders in Congress for keeping impeachment off the table:
The philistines among us would have thought that if you have a stubbornly law-breaking and willfuly insulting regime in the Executive branch, by impeaching and just possibly removing them, or at least doing enough subsidiary activity to keep impeachment a credible threat, you might be able to keep them from trying to pull crap like this out of their asses. We seem to have been misinformed.
I sure will be glad when this full moon is over.
Rachael Maddow was on KO tonight and said that, given the current circumstances, taking impeachment off the table was an insult to the constitution. Given that the Senators and Congressmen take a pledge to protect the Constitution against all enemies both foreign and domestic, that means that Nancy and Harry have violated their oaths of office.
time to rethink my bold because it’s not even an occupation
it’s a purge
we aren’t securing any area but the one we want to keep intact, we are supporting tribal leaders who then proceed to commit genocide
so I repeat the Epiphany I had as I read your post attaturk
it’s not even an occupation, it’s a purge
Something I’ve been thinking about for a while now. Is there any place to find out the detail of where this money is actually going. It’s easy to lose the decimal point with all these big numbers, so I wrote this down and counted the zeros.
A hundred and fifty thousand troops at forty thousand a year is six billion a year. But these are not new troops, its money that would, absent the war, have been spent for the same troops stationed in some other godforsaken Army or Marine base. These costs should be offset by savings at the other locations.
The cost of fuel, ammo, increased maintenance and wear on equipment is a proper charge to the war, but it’s not going to be all that much. We aren’t losing billion dollar bombers or carriers, just HumVs that are maybe 50K each.
Just how much is going to “private contactors”? These numbers do not pass the smell test at all. Maybe by a factor of ten.
1,735 DAYZ AND THE KILLIN’ GOEZ ON AND ON AND…
Citizen Attaturk and the Early Mornin’ Firepup Freedom Fighters:
So jest when do the “allies” storm the beaches and liberate the “homeland” from these fascist bastards…and trust me, Mrs. Clinton ain’t gunna say “boo” about the SOFA that will keep US troops in-country until the rest of the Arab world finally has had enough and throws us the fuck out. We have had a “friendly fascist coup” that moved slowly and inexorably from 1981 to the present so now there are almost as many elected Democrats who are fascist enablers as there are Republican-fascists.
Boy…makes ya wanna jest take ta the street and carry all the bastards out to the city limits on a rail with a nice coat of feathers.
KEEP THE FAITH THEY GOT THE MONEY NOW THEY WANT OUR CHILDREN!!
Bravo Attaturk for returning the dialogue to the point…stop the fucking goddamn sonofabitching genocide slaughter. Stop shopping… stop working.
A national strike would stop the neocons.
Someone on the blogs beside the norseflamethrower is wanting the war stopped. Stop the goddamn war. Stop funding the war…oops to late on that one. Call in Grenpeace they can give an effective non violent strategy while we still have a constitution.
Let’s exercise our freedoms, get organised the elections are require hipwaders to keep the bullshit off. Help!
I saw Rachel’s moment of impeachment advocacy and it damn sure cheered me up. I really, really like Rachel on a microphone.
O/t but interesting. Poll today fr FL fas Rudy trailin both McCain & Romney and tied with Huckabee. Note that the poll had a pretty large margin of error. Still, it can’t make Rudy happy. I heve te gut feeling it’s not that accurate. But still, it can’t make Rudy happy:
THE RACE IN FLORIDA
January 24, 2008
REPUBLICANS
John McCain: 25%
Mitt Romney: 23%
Rudy Giuliani: 15%
Mike Huckabee: 15%
From Scott Horton, “The New Keynesians”, on the current economic unpleasantness.
(And in which we learn that if you’re reading too fast, the phrase “Berthold Brecht” looks just like “Borscht Belt.” Take it slow, ladies and germs.)
Good morning, pups. It’s TOMC, Roger Cohen and Nicholas Kristof in the NYT today. TOMC jumps on the bandwagon and says if Hillary Clinton expects anybody to get misty-eyed about the first woman president at the inauguration, she’s got to send her husband home. Mr. Cohen says it’s time to look to the French. They’ve got their heads in the right place, with nuclear power enjoying a 70 percent approval rating. Mr. Kristof writes about “China’s Genocide Olympics” and says China’s leaders are tarnishing their own Olympiad by abetting genocide in Darfur and in effect undermining the U.N. military deployment there.

362 days of W left. The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got banana pancakes with Vermont maple syrup to share. Have a great day. I, for one, am buoyed by the fact that John Edwards issued a statement on FISA. Let’s see if anyone else does or, even better, if they show up to do the jobs they were elected to do.
I am not betting on it…there might be a “catastrophu” and he just might suspend elections
he has that power you know, and they have used every single power they have
No. How could that be. Aren’t polls like the eastern star that we all follow, lemming like, to the promised land. Instead of “margin of error” how about “maybe factor”
Polls? Wrong? When did that ever happen?
Polls? Wrong? When did that ever happen?
B-rrrrrrrrrr!
but it’s a good morning here, hope it is where you are!
Can’t wait for the FISA fight, you pups dialing for FISA all ready?
G’Morning maid marion. G’Morning Attaturk. Thanks for reminding us to put our Fisa calls on our to do lists, front and center.
Off to make some Irish oatmeal, alas no maple syrup, as the real stuff from friendly treess is all gone. But there’s the bright side. Tapping is just a month away, about the time of something called spring training.
That’s it for a while. Will check back later. Have a great day.
Beerfart Liberal. I believe you are in FL. If so, you might want to look at the nyt front page video of Rudy campaigning in Fl. No link available. It’s under politics.
The bad news is that they like him for what he did (or what they think he did); the good news is that they are undecided on whom to vote for even ‘though.
Has any FL paper picked up the RudyTheRevenger story from the NYT in FL.Any bloggers? here’s hoping.
That’s it for a while. Will check back later. Have a great day.
Just something to make your hair stand up this morning — the front page story in the Savannah Daily Disappointment, which is all about an Army Chinook helicopter making a visit to Calvary Day School (yes, it’s a church school, used to call itself Calvary Baptist) to “attract future soldiers.” Check out the picture. To me that looks like about a 10 year old girl… Does anyone here know if that’s even legal?
Here’s what’s coming up on

Most of the blame is to be laid at feet of the compliance
Democrats..the country voted in 2006 to end the war and they are the ones that kept it going..
they are ALMOST indistinguishable,disgusting!!!
I think lots of bloggers have.
This is from a Sarsota paper:
http://www.heraldtribune.com/a.....5/-1/RSS01
as far as the democrats, most of that blame lands at the feet of Nancy pelosi
she acknowledged when she first took office that high crimes would not be investigated, that despots would be allowed to run cattle and maneuver over our constitution
NANCY PELOUSY is the biggest dissapointment to woman,in this country…the 1st woman speaker of the house, cares more about her ARMANI suits, and coiffures, than her constituents,or as RACEL sez…the CONSTITUTION,impeach her first!
Orrin Hatch breathlessly pushing the retro-immunity bill on Imus this morning…gotta have it, need the tools for surveillance…the other guys are just partisan party line and you gotta call your Congressmen…
gotta get it done this week…side issues like civil liberties, what about the civil liberties of 3000 people…we gotta protect our people from these vicious terrorists.
We’re always going to have wars, we’ve gotta have an economic genius like Mitt Romney….
summing up this a.m. on Imus….
those photos of her fawning over the fukknozzle, are just vomit inducing
must…post….graph
bush economic results
this graph needs to be posted at the top of every candidates’ website and the progressive blogs should make it part of their header
uggg, does anybody listen to that geriatric hack anymore….either one of them
i want T-SHIRTS i tellz ya
we need to begin the marches against pelosi and make them even more intensive then the marches against bush
she is a benedict, she is an accomplice to treason
Please in a non-violent way not the usual hot tar but rather fibered cold process roof coating(the aluminum variety would let us see them coming in the dark) Keep on keeping on. Peace now, damn it.
LOL His credit is so bad it’s not even registering. In fact, you can’t see it when you view the homepage of freecreditreport.com, but ole Georgie is sitting in the corner with his nose to the wall. He’s bad!!!!!
that graph should be on the header of every progressive blog, it is STUNNING
and it’s only the beginning, the bush legasy will take generations to unfold….this is not even the honey moon for what we are about to face
we have some fun to look our for, check out this tastey morsel
yum

NANCY YOU SUKKKKKK ,i sent you flowers,im sorry i wasted my money
I respectfully but heartily disagree with all who blame the war on Iraq on the Democrats. It is BushCo’s doing, it was their idea, their plan, their failure.
Yes the Dems could have done a lot more and need to stop it NOW! but it was started with LIES, by abusing the trust of the American People. BUSH LIED and PEOPLE DIED
Yes, but don’t you think black is more becoming that line of work?
it is stunning,in its frankness, that graph would make lovely t shirts i shall try to make some…stay tunned
seriously….STOP FUNDING ANIHILATION …now
lovely indeed
take artistic license and make sure the important points are highlighted if you don’t mind
holy cow, it looks like his fly is open and her mouth is full of something
America is still being propagandized by Wolf Blitzer of CNN…
http://whitenoiseinsanity.com/.....y-in-iraq/
According to last night’s broadcast, the US Embassy is still in the scaffolding stage of construction. Bull crap!
the Bushies KNEW America would NEVER open up her pocketbook, for war AGAIN ,after NAM…it tooka 911 to get the public on board….funny dat
you mean Leslie Blitzer of the JERUSALEM post
biggest dissapointment EVER!
he was a REGULAR on the 700 club
Chalmers Johnson had a piece on the cost of the military that you may want to check out. It is at: http://www.informationclearing.....e19144.htm
Watching this Wall Street whore from the National Association of Mfg. on Cspan makes my blood boil. He claims his organization represents “millions” of American workers. He bemoans the fact that his organization supports the repatriation of foreign earnings, but that the taxes that would be charged are sooooo high. What BS!
I say revise the USA tax code on corporate earnings. Require combined reporting of any corporation that operates in any way in the US to include all subsidiaries foreign and domestic.
Public money is used to provide for the American military that essentially is acting as a strong-arm for American businesses abroad. If the fascists in Washington (R and D both) insist on fighting immoral wars at least require the beneficiaries to pay for it. Screw these people. Screw them!
New one upstairs!
morning!
It’s an ancient political playbook which takes advantage of the power asserted by the government to create money out of thin air by various means. It has ramified tremendously in an age where specie and notes are considered quaint and no longer required for transacting business. Money is created and distributed in mere nanoseconds with current practices. The possibilities for abuse of such a system endless. The only way to circumvent the tremendous downdraft of abuse is to go off the currency, return to a system of barter if necessary, until the government and it’s minions are brought to heel.
Yep! That’s the one I’m talking about. ;-)
Thanks to him, Americans continue to be lied to and Israel must be so happy. Spit.
Is there are YouTube or a transcript of what Rachael said about the constitution and impeachment on KO last night?
