Zed?
‘allo?
Wow. Right place at right time.
Leaving one step ahead of the sherrif, huh?
Basically Matt Blunt is saying that he’s scr**ed as many people as possible in the shortest amount of time and he doesn’t think that he can top that.
And Jane, how did you ever remember that Simpsons’ episode? Genius.
Hah!
Thought it was time for a new thread.
Good work, eCAHN.
Hi, Jane! You getting any response from the Edwards campaign vis a vis FISA?
FunnyD
He’s trashed the joint alright, but I refuse to believe he was in anyway done with us. I think he his a proverbial canary in the scandle coal mine. The truth will come out, and by the look on his face in the video, it’s going to be good. Good riddence!
That was rich, rich, rich.
Is this the guy that will be exposed soon? If so, I can’t remember who is doing the exposing. Could someone tell.
So what was Blunt’s malfeasance du jour? These people don’t give up power unless forced out by scandal or kicked out by constituents.
Whoooooohooo! Maybe Blount should have said he had now had ambitions to be Mayor of Springfield!
I can’t stop smiling. :oD

Polls: After Fred’s Departure, Mittmentum Grows In Florida
By Eric Kleefeld - January 23, 2008, 4:12PM
Two new polls out today give Mitt Romney the lead in the Florida primary, an apparent sign that he’s the biggest winner from Fred Thompson quitting the race.
From InsiderAdvantage: Romney 24%, Giuliani 19%, McCain 18%, Huckabee 12%.
From Public Policy Polling (D): Romney 28%, McCain 25%, Giuliani 19%, Huckabee 15%.
If Mitt Romney were to win Florida, he would not only take more than 50 delegates from this winner-take-all contest — he would also throw John McCain right off his game a week before Super Tuesday.
That gets “commment of the day,” lisadawn.
If Rudy gets his ass handed to him in Florida, there should be one more gooper headed to the exits. That’s about the only progress we’re going to see.
For those interested in why Gov. Blunt decided to resign after “fulfilling all his goals” (including amassing a multi-million dollar re-election fund, deleting executive office emails, and leaving several million Missourians without medical coverage) you can look Matt Blunt. Talk is that Papa Blunt (R-Springfield…seriously!) may be returning to try his own hand at being Governor.
That’s gotta be a first…son resigns and Daddy tries to take over….reverse dynasty! Maybe grandpa could run for Congress!
somewhere somebody’s drafting a cease & desist letter.
Blunt is a nasty boy. And he keeps very bad company.
“Blunt received considerable fundraising support from his father’s supporters and from out-of-state Republicans in his 2000 Secretary of State bid. Senior political strategist Karl Rove appeared at an April 21, 2000 fundraiser in Springfield. The state Republican Party contributed $160,000 to Blunt’s campaign, having received $100,000 in donations from Rep. Roy Blunt’s PAC, and the 7th District Congressional Republican Committee - a fundraising group affiliated with the senior Blunt - donated $40,000. Contributions from 84 of Rep. Blunt’s colleagues in the U.S. House of Representatives totalled over $65,000. Matt Blunt defeated his Democrat opponent Steve Gaw with 51.4% of the vote, to Gaw’s 45.1%.”
Yer killin’ me, really.
There are 57 delegates from Florida (50% of the original 114 - stripped down because of moving the vote up to January). If McCain and Romney are close down the road there likely will be blood on the floor of the Convention about seating the full delegations of Michigan and Florida. It looks as if Rudy has made a rebound in one of those polls. Short of St. Paul or the Huckster making a huge upset I’m sort of maliciously hoping Rudy pulls it off in a very, very close race with lots of recounts.

That almost beats ”Hillary thinks cats are expendable; can you trust her?” as the silliest thing I’ve seen on the intertubes today.
I have disagree, the country will be far safer if a stake is driven though the heart of the Ghoul’s candidacy. You can’t be too careful and he is really, really scary.
Ooops. Matt Blount didn’t “resign”…he just decided for quixotic reasons of his own, not to run for a second term. My booboo. Probably just wanted to spend more time with his family.
Matt reminds me of another self made boy. Mitt.
Agreed. And bleed off some money from the other Goopers. :-)
Matt endorsed Mitt.
How on Earth did you ever dig that up? Let’s get hopping on this FISA legislation folks. Someone give me a plan to keep me busy. It’s too easy hitting my redial number to Reid’s office.
Off topic but a point of information…
The Democratic Party is in place to restrict Free Speech and Workshops during the Denver Convention.
Living as an activist in Denver the logical place for Free Speech and work shops is at this Campus..notice Pepsi Center on top(Convention)

Now the Campus will be closed at this time..

Our own Party will not allow us to be there…
We now return you to the scheduled thread..
I think there is a big ole’ turd getting ready to hit the fan, in re the attorney firing scandal.

The question arises for me. What adventure will Matt now embark on in service to his country? Perhaps he could be an astronaut, or a cowboy, or a scientist, or a pirate (robber baron, ceo of Halliburton or Blackwater, etc.). The prospects are endless for ’self-made’ men. Look at Georgie and Mittie.
*mtttt !

My husband just came into the room foaming at the mouth. Apparently, Gouliani said that our government spent hundreds of billions of dollars on Katrina.
I thought I was going to have to take Ron to the e.r. for special anger decompression.
See eCAHNomics @ 22. It has a link to a BRAD BLOG article that is informative.
It’s amazing how much he lacks knowledge, and how willing he is to display it.
I increasingly wonder why NYC functioned so well under him and how he did his job as USAtty. Perhaps he suffers from a wasting brain disease,

Nuclear reactors across the Southeast may have to throttle back later this year because drought is drying up the rivers and lakes that supply cooling water.
Bittersweet for the little fishies, huh?
One crazy theory is that Republican Senator Kit Bond is going to announce he is not going to run again, that Papa Roy Blunt is going to step down from the House to run for that, and then Matt Blunt will “fulfill more goals” by running for Pappy’s seat (and use that re-election warchest he’s amassed there).
Those waters are also great wildlife preserves and even have alligators. What a shame this drought is.
Tweety goin wall to wall on the Obama/Clinton wars. Fuckin boring. Who gives a fuck?
I know the feeling! It was on Hardball, and he said Katrina’s cost was $100B. This had to do with some sort of Insurance backed by the Fed or something. All spin for the Florida race. I had to turn him off.
The good thing is I happen to turn on Ellen long enough to see a wolf and a Barbary lion. Much more interesting than Rudy.
That’s actually a great piece of video.
Thanks!
Obama and Clinton? Say no. Yes to Edwards. Please. ;0)
I liked my scandal theory better. Oh, well. I’ll keep my tin foil hat on anyway.
Gaza up on the NewsHour now!
showing happy Palestinians, shoppers (oh so dear to Bush’s heart) and Joy.
a taste of economic freedom
Once worked for a company that did a big campaign on endangered species- including the american alligator. The alligators didn’t play ball though- between the design of the program and the roll out- the american alligator made a major comeback- and by the time the ads ran- they were in everyone’s backyards and swimming pools. Didn’t work well.
A Palestinian Exodus.
Now on NewsHour, your NewsHour reporter reports debate on econ stimulus
Dayam, I see FISA is rearing it’s ugly head again…
From Fired Up Missouri;
Buried halfway down in a St. Joseph News-Press story today about reaction to the Blunt announcement comes this bold gem of a prediction:
Rep. Jim Guest, R-King City, predicts that U.S. Sen. Kit Bond, R-Missouri, also will step down soon for health reasons. If U.S. Rep. Roy Blunt, Matt Blunt’s father, is appointed to the senatorial post, Mr. Guest said he believes the current Missouri governor will go after the congressional seat.
Maybe Bush gave them an economic stimulus package too.
What’s up with Hill and Kittiez? I thought Frist had a lock on that one.
Joseph Stigletz (Columbia U) and William Beech (Heritage Foundation)on the stimulus
Of course Hillary is right- cats ARE expendable.
Hopefully, the Carnahan Family to the rescue.
Is this kind of activity legal in Missouri, even among consenting adults?
I love the swamps and bayous of Florida, Georgia and Lousiana. And the gators too. Seriously.
Sure is.
I beg your pardon?
Yeah, we could see this coming…
Saw this great show about the wildlife that seems to prefer living near the nuke plants. It was beautiful as long as they did not show that great lurking thing in the background.
Looks like we have a handsome young ex-governor witing in the wings to run for vice-president on the GOP ticket?
Power vacuum, From The Politics Blog;
Steelman might jump into governor’s race
This just in from State Treasurer Sarah Steelman’s office:
“I want to wish Governor Blunt, Melanie and Branch all the best as they have decided to open a new chapter in their lives as a family.
Just yesterday I announced my intent to seek another term as Missouri State Treasurer at my parent’s home in Jefferson City. Since my announcement, I have received hundreds of calls from Missourians of all walks of life who have encouraged me to seek the office of Governor. These Missourians have shared one message with me, “return the power to the people.”
My family and I are earnestly considering the many calls we have received with one criterion, how I can best serve the people of Missouri. We will be announcing our decision soon so as to help lead Missourians in the best possible direction.”
OH MY GOD, Jane, your headline is the exact first thing I thought when I saw this news last night. Great minds . . .
OT/FYI - From Glenzilla’s comments
Hey gang,
Sorry for the o/t and if someone already mentioned this:
I know many of you are honoring the WGA strike by not watching many shows, but if you can catch the rerun of Colbert today, you will not have crossed the picket line. There’s also a post about it on the Huff Post with vids.
Colbert is amazing not just because he is a funny man but because he is also sincere. Check it out.

China Angle to Market Story
by James Fallows up on NewsHour now
That’s actually a great piece of video.
Thanks!
The Clintons are obviously unfamiliar with the whole premise of “good cop - bad cop”. It tends to work best when one “cop” is actually willing/capable of being the “good cop”.
Bill, once again, coming across as a condescending, bullying asshole. And Hillary seems similarly incapable of producing a ‘warm - fuzzy’, more than once every couple of weeks.
That act needs some work, kids.
Stop the war. Save lives. Save $15,000,000,000 per month. Invest the savings in our children’s future. Repair our infra structure, create jobs that will help our environment and invest in education and health care training. That’s an economic stimulus package.
stop making sense
Awesome! Translation: I am going to lose. I think I got a good amount of money for myself and my future spouse, and got some pretty messed up rules on the books - but I guess I have to wait for one of my kids (sons) to sober up and be President.
you ain’t going to be needing no stinking congress, just Dik and the diktater and they’ll keep condi on for the new and improved a-qiadia threats that nobody could have ever imagined.
Finally there’s a guest on NewsHour who talks normal speed.
Nooooooo! No. No. No!

Empathy Deficit————
http://www.crooksandliars.com/
The House [debated] the override of the President’s veto of the revised bipartisan SCHIP (State Children’s Health Insurance Program) bill. The President’s veto on December 12 denied health care to children of hardworking families across America just as the country began experiencing an economic downturn, with families increasingly struggling with the costs of heat, food, gas and health care.
Unfortunately, the House Republicans sustained Bush’s veto, by narrowly denying the two-thirds necessary to override the veto: 260 in favor of passage versus 152 against, despite the veto-proof margin in the Senate, meaning 42 Republicans voted with the Democrats. Rep. Charlie Rangel:
“I stand in support of overriding the President’s veto,
Blunt is VERY unpopular in Missouri, he would be right at home in DC
All of my neighbors around me voted for him because he’s a good Christian man. Make me sick.
Won’t you please send an email of support to Senator Dodd on his efforts on FISA. Thanks. ;0)
I commented on this on an earlier thread. Colbert’s pure genius. You might as well have brought the picket line inside and put it on the show!
I’m sure this is really worrisome to Jon Stewart. The strike is threatening to shut down the Oscars, that he was supposed to host for the second time. Disappointing, much?
A few weeks ago, I posted Commander Huber’s analysis of the Iranian Sea Battle.
This week, he analyzes the requisites of a Commander In Chief.
http://zenhuber.blogspot.com/
Yeah, humor and enlightenment. SC just totally rocks. So did the choir!
I love stewart as well but didn’t think his humor translated very well to the Oscars. I think the Film acting audience doesn’t really like being mocked by “TV people”. Or something. It was a tough room the first time as I recall.
I did that this afternoon, and wrote a diary over on John Edwards’ blog (with poll). Someone also suggested I write to Senator Domenici. His fax number is 202-228-3261. Phone number is (202) 224-6621.
