The key is to have presidency and the congress so something can happen instead of endless stalemates.

And we need to watch what they do and speak out when they stray. I think the media is losing its stranglehold on the dissemination of information, so you can have an informed electorate.

But taking the long view is important, that is how the republicans got their power, they invested in think tanks, groomed candidates and supported them. It took them years, but they stuck with it.

We’re getting a break with their monumental screwup (Bush Jr.), but we have to pull together and capitalize on that screwup.

No, we are in this mess because we didn’t win the last 2 presidential elections.

I’d say we “lost” those because of the purposeful splintering of the DemocratIC Party by the DLC factions, namely the Clintons. I personally feel the DLC was created specifically to destroy the Party from within, which they’ve been able to do.

Whatever the case, I may be able to get behind what you’re saying (essentially if Clinton is the nom) because of one thing that’s different now – the Netroots.

Unlike in the 1990s, if the Clintons are in WH again (ack!) we’ll be able to keep them honest this time around, and this does give me hope. Now I just hope it doesn’t come to that.

I’m absolutely in favor of making sure we gain ground in Congress, but we have to take back the White House.

We have 3 strong Democratic candidates. We all have our favorites; many of us have problems with one or both of the others.

One candidate will win the Democratic nomination, regardless of which one you support in the primaries we need to support the Party’s nominee.

We must recapture the White House and solidify our control of congress.

You have to look at the bigger picture. The Supreme Court, and hence the Constitution, is in peril.

Ya know, this is all I’ve ever been told my entire adult/voting life. And what’s happened in that time? We are in our current Constitutional Crisis precisely because too many people have that attitude. We need to demand better Democrats.

This is why I’m so thrilled with the “More and Better” movement. Finally people seem to be waking up to this fact.

The last 1-2 months, Obama has made up an amazing amount of ground to Hillary, just as Ned Lamont did in the DemocratIC primary with Likuderman. Obama like Lamont needed to get past an incredible amount of name recognition/familiarity first, and when it got to be nitty gritty, head to head people chose the newcomers. The question is if there’s enough time yet to overcome the years of “hillary is inevitable” that’s been beat into everyone’s head for the last nearly 10 years now (I remember reports when she was first running for Senate).

Do you think he’s hit a wall now and maxed out on his support? I don’t, in fact I think he’s just getting warmed up, and Hillary’s dropping fast.

We MUST win the presidency in addition to solidifying our lead in Congress.

Primaries are primaries, when the General Election comes I’ll be voting Democratic, regardless of who the Democratic nominee is.
