Thinking of the repubs. I used to be most afraid of Rudy. But, let me tell you, Huck is just as scary. Not as a nominee, but as a pres.

You and me too! Of all the potential Republicans running, he scares the daylights out of me. Think of a Jim Baker in Billy Graham clothing with the charisma to charm the socks off the evangelicals and the gullible. Beyond that, he has no comprehension of foreign, or fiscal policy.

Personally I think, make that hope, that the Repub party will somehow put an end to his run, one how or another. I don’t think they want to be saddled with this fanatic.

As for SC, they have always been the renegade people of the South. Think Strom Thurman. They voted for him well past his senile years without regard to his ability to be effective, just because they …..? Got me beat. Some South Carolinians can be downright contrary.

BTW we should get together sometime…maybe with Mary. I just got back from a half year in Asia but live in Sacramento. Heard there was a FDL meet-up in my absence.

That’d be great. And actually I’m in Citrus Heights (who knows where that is right? unless you’re from here). But tomorrow I’m coming down for the rally.

I guess the meetup was in the Bay Area, but Nefarious Leslie is the local coordinator for Drinking Liberally (which I’ve missed attending for too long) and the local chapter of the ACLU has started a monthly meetup which I think is also the second Thursday of the month — I don’t have the info right now but can get it for you (I’m on the board so I should know this, but we just began it last month)

Yea, and we have to bring Mary as well as Nefarious Leslie and Donna and LindaR and scarecrow’s son fierro (probably incorrect spelling, sorry).

You know … they’re all really great people and I feel very fortunate to have met them

Unbelievable! And taking the “Unclear On The Concept” Prize for today is the remarkable Mr. Moulitsas…

From Kos:

Update: Edwards joins Bill Clinton:

Edwards, speaking truth to power: “Ronald Reagan, the man who busted unions, the man who did everything in his power to destroy the organized labor movement, the man who created a tax structure that favored the richest Americans against middle class and working families, … we know that Ronald Reagan is not an example of change for a presidential candidate running in the Democratic Party.”

Kos’s clueless and crass snark: “A nicely crafted straw man argument, if I’ve ever seen one. Bravo, John, for being an ass and dishonestly distorting what Obama said!”

Huh? WTF? Earth to Kos: Edwards was speaking for me, for my brothers in the Carpenter’s Union, for the Steelworkers, for all the working people of the nation. He was specifically not distorting what Obama said. He was taking that saccharine and essentially pointless pandering to the Reaganites and making a non-trivial statement of our struggle to take back our country from the forces of malevolence and mendacity who have stolen it from us.

Dear Markos Mouolitsas, what part of “unity within our ranks” don’t you understand?

“Which Side Are You On?”

Come all you good workers,
Good news to you I’ll tell
Of how the good old union
Has come in here to dwell.

CHORUS:
Which side are you on?
Which side are you on?
Which side are you on?
Which side are you on?

My daddy was a miner,
And I’m a miner’s son,
And I’ll stick with the union
‘Til every battle’s won.

They say in Harlan County
There are no neutrals there.
You’ll either be a union man
Or a thug for J. H. Blair.

Oh workers can you stand it?
Oh tell me how you can?
Will you be a lousy scab
Or will you be a man?

Don’t scab for the bosses,
Don’t listen to their lies.
Us poor folks haven’t got a chance
Unless we organize.

John ~ Totally agree, but you get the same sentiments in the foothills and some parts of the Central Valley, Redding, Bakersfield…down to Riverside, Barstow. That’s Red-Meat land…although changing a bit in places like Fresno and Modesto as they get refugees from the high-priced Bay Area.

BTW we should get together sometime…maybe with Mary. I just got back from a half year in Asia but live in Sacramento. Heard there was a FDL meet-up in my absence.

Doesn’t look good for Obama. Clark County (Las Vegas) is still about half out, with Clinton taking about 55% of the vote there. Obama doing better up North near Reno and Carson City…but less population (and delegates) up there.
