Brother can you spare five dollars for a carton of milk?
What’s on your mind tonight?
hi ES
Zed?
everybody quit?
Hey there, ES.
(TB, ygm @ fb)
TexB!
Wiping icing off my lips. Hi!
Almost all of my facebook messages arrive on fun-wall these days.. which I can never find.
Even though I said goodnight, you know I had to peek in when the new thread broke right after I said it. *g*
Excellent Choice on the YouTube ES.
I just added it to my playlist yesterday.
Laura you have mail too. Both fb and regular.
Click on your profile and scroll down a mile or two.
Hey ES,
Just this weekend created a Facebook page. Don’t have a clue what I’m doing. Did see the wall, help?
it’s such a warm old recording and the video reminds me of the country store where I used to charge baloney and cheese sandwiches on the farm account.
Rachel Maddow is speaking very intelligently tonight (not that she ever doesn’t)
Add me?
I didn’t watch the debate tonight, but apparently all of the candidates took Rodney King’s advice.
Why is Pat Buchanan screaming? (Don’t answer that.)
Hey Tex,
Maybe you will help me in facebook? I have a profile, but after my daughter left, I’m left just looking at it and thinking, I can’t put too much personal information here…
Rachel on Obama verses any Repub. Godzilla v Bambi – I love it!
Hi Christine, I think you can click on the little blue “f” by my name and add me.
Yes! Tell me how…
click my name.
then click “add to friends”
not my name, that link on 14
Matthews is becoming incoherent, misspeaking himself multiple times in a single sentence. He said something about the “Denver” caucuses this “Friday…actually, they’re Saturday” when he meant the Nevada caucuses. That thing in Denver is a national convention, not a caucus, Tweety, and it doesn’t happen until summer.
OK I think I added you (sorry Pups for this personal stuff–look for me?) Hey can you check?
So not one kind firedog has 5 bucks for a carton of milk? /s I thought I would be making chocolate milkshakes by now.
dang – check out the graphics in this Beck video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IErLSzWhzoM
The demographic for Mittens in MI:
kos
Also $5 for a lb of grapes here. Yikes.
Thanks Betsy,
Did get your blog. Will check facebook for friends.
It worked. I just confirmed.
i wonder if his blood sugar is off tonight. i’ve heard he has problems controlling it even with his meds.
Hi, Suzanne!
hey neuro (shhhhh i’m really not here so don’t tell anyone)
OT..
link
Christine,
I sent you a facebook message, at least I hope it was to you!
Click on the ‘f’ by my name here and add me.
Nice and something I would have thought tried long ago.
Suz!
SHH
SUZANNE’S NOT HERE, MAN…..
Jeffrey Toobin on CNN says the Repub party is a “demoralized party.”
Yeah, I’d be demoralized, too, if I were to blame for foisting eight disasterous years of bushness on my country.
Found it! Thanks. Isn’t is just so silly that things like this seem like best friends. “g”
I bet State Del. Lionel Spruill, has a lot of issues.
I don’t know about robo-calls, but robo-steppin’? Hell, Yes!
That makes sense. I thought maybe he was bipolar. Some times the guy is quite lucid and insightful. Other times, he makes no sense at all.
From Bev Harris
Yay!!!!!!! I am Christine’s newest BFF!
And not without reason. They’ve got St. John, the Mittbot, and the Huck guy. Maybe they could bring in someone from Mexico and/or Canada.
geez louise (shaking head) there goes my low profile around here (laughing)
I hope a lot of low info Dems are catching a glimpse on their television of former VP candidate Lieberman behind McCain and waking up a little.
No wonder there is talk of changing the Constitution so the Governator could run for preznit. They are really scraping the bottom of the barrel now.
I think she’s top notch all the time.
I especially liked her shot back at Buchanan’s familiar refrain that the Thugs would “chew Obama up in the general” to the effect “are you kidding me–with these Bambie wussies you have running to pick from.” She’s right.
I don’t know what candidate Buchanan is thinking of, and the Rove/Gillespie machine isn’t going to roll if whoever is the candidate tears in to Bush’s shit/shit record. Bush has teed their butts right up for kickin’. I think KO is exponentially better than Tweetie and the patrician Mrs. Greenspan.
Much of the time KO comes up with prescient insights and his comment that Romney running against the Washington establishment as if Bush never existed was right on target. If Romney is their man, and I don’t see anyone beating him right now, and Romney tries this outsider who is going to reform and change Washington when he is Bush Redux position wise, I hope the Dems dissect what is a ridiculous position.
Did anyone else catch the Bloomberg presser on CSPAN today? I would give the Bloomberg team about a two on the Fred Thompson richter scale.
OT..Dems need to push it’s the Bush/Thug economy.
Asian markets are way down..Hang on for the NYSE open in AM..”It was said” a month ago that the DOW at 12,500 was the “firewall” before marker free fall..well the market closed at 12,501 yesterday.
Margot,
After thirty minutes, I can’t find you. I added Betsy and Eureka Springs, but can’t find you. Your little “f” sends me into limbo land where my password ends. blah
Look for her by clicking on my name and looking at my friends. Except that I have 200 of them. But she’s in there! You’ll recognize a lot of the names.
laura, ygm
Christine, add me as a friend. I’ve been lurking, then with the facebook talk I went and looked at stuff. I just got through looking at my daughter’s photo album. A new way to find out what your kids are up to, huh???
ES,
Here’s another suggestion for a donation bucket those with Loose Change might want to aim for….
Someone willing to speak for our side, Dennis Kucinich.
From a friend:
“After A Reno Fed. Judge ruled in Kucinich’s favor yesterday saying he was to be allowed into the debates tonight, Tues night Jan 15th, on MSNBC, that corporation along with NBC have gone to the Nevada Supreme Court today to try to prove that they have the right to control our Democracy and determine who are the legitimate Presidential candidates here in America. This corporate domination of our Democracy must end!!!!!”
UPDATE: Nevada Supreme Court denies Kucinich access to the debate, ruling in favor of war profiteer General Electric.
You can kiss your democracy goodbye. Put a fork in it, it’s over.
Can anyone give me some advice about Digg? I signed up for Digg recently so I could Digg posts on FDL, but I don’t really know much about the site. I received an e-mail from Digg that read as follows:
“Hey there! [a certain screenname] is your latest fan. She became your fan because she likes what you are up to on Digg and wants to see what you think is interesting. You can either leave her as a fan or add her to your own list of friends. Check out her profile here:…”
What is a fan? What is a friend? What happens when you add someone as a friend? Does this give them access to any of your personal information? Do those of you who are registered at Digg routinely accept fans as friends?
Any advice would be welcome. btw I might know who this person is, but am not sure.
TexB, what happened to your little facebook icon? (here, by your name in comments)
Absolutely.
I think we’ll be in the epicenter of a recession in the late summer leading toward the election.
Ray, I couldn’t agree more. Talkleft has the lowdown on the courtroom details. The whole story really fries my chicken.
christine e – ya need to do what i did – just go through the threads clicking on all the f’s and add them as friends.
don’t forget to f me.
Rachael is such a class act. She totally clown Matthews. God, I wish they’d give her a show of her own!
Washington Monthly: In “The Unbearable Inanity of Tim Russert,” in our January issue
ugh. glenn beck. I have not previously been exposed to this creature, although I have seen him bashed here and on Countdown. I am watching CNN now because MSNBC’s live coverage has ended and they are now rerunning the debate. The appearance of the beck entity makes me want to turn it off. BTW, CNN is discussing MSNBC’s debate. Do networks routinely discuss other networks’ debates?
My crystal ball is revealing the work McMitt. No, it’s not another burger that tastes like leather. Mitt beat out Huck for the evangelical vote tonight in Michigan.http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/01/15/how-romney-won-economy-evangelicals-local-ties/
To win, the Repugs need to get the corporate/militry/MSM/evangelical vote.
Ergo: McMitt
Ditched it when I was angry at them for posting people’s credit card purchases. Never put it back.
I am off to sleep. Night all.
Ray it was the Nevada Supreme Court.
This isn’t my idea of a page turner.
Order in NBC Universal v. Eighth Judicial District Court (Kucinich) (50889)
I think when the site migrated to its new format a lot of people didn’t do the log in. there are a lot less f links than there were before. For those of you who played the facebook game on the old site – go to the bottom of the page where the orange torn piece of paper says RSS/XML Feed ] Login ] etc. and log in with your screen name, or as they say, your “nom de plume”. heh.
pain free sleep wishes tex
Yikes! I missed that one!
Glenzilla had a very good posting on this matter this morning:
Yep. That’s a great piece. Drew a big red circle around the Goopers claims about “activist judges” being demonstrable bullshit in a whole new way.
I think they decided not to share info without express permission due to the roar of protesting f-bookies..)
No kidding! When did that happen? I must have been away.
Chris,
Do you see the Inbox on the top right of the facebook page? If it says (1) then maybe that’s mine. I sent a friend request to someone I thought was you. I’m working on why I don’t show up, i don’t get it.
thanks suzanne. night y’all
Seriously! Good on Kucinich for working, behind the debate, for our democracy.
A couple or three months back. (ish)
The term “activist judges” used exclusively by the Right who never do the background reading to understand and context the caselaw, and most of whom wouldn’t be capable of it, has always meant opinions they don’t like period. It’s become a right wing buzzword used by thousand of people who wouldn’t know a caselaw or an opinion if it bit ‘em repatedly hard in the ass.
2 weeks before christmas.
More pages than you could care to read on facebook’s beacon feature!
You’ll have to tell me about it sometime. Not now. I am going to hit the hay, like you. Although I am sure your bed is much more comfortable than mine. *Sigh*
Evening all just stop by to say hi. watching Boston Legal, great as usual. a good debate by the Dems tonight but the goonies who who were asking the questions sure leave me wanting… Our candidates… any one of which would make a good president, but Edwards is still my choice…
BTW Interesting that none of the pundits is mentioning yet another polling screw-up on the eve of the Election.
The Zogby/CNN poll had this a 1% race with McCain leading 27%-26% over Romney (15% for Huck). The American Research Center called it 31% to 30% McCain (19% Huck). The Detroit News also had it a 1% race (27% McCain, 26% Romney; 19% Huck). So where is all the commentary on just how flawed the polls are?
One would think that there is a story about the pattern of these “late surge” polls consistantly being wrong by large numbers. But nary a peep from the MSM.
So, I suppose the question is where was this snark in early 2001 when we really needed it?
“David Letterman Presents: The Bush Administration, 26 Percent and Falling”
I suppose that David Letterman and CBS were being obsequious because Sumner Redstone was seeking special privileged regulation and legislation, and back then Letterman knew that if he told the truth, he’d lose his show. Too bad America is such a cesspool of hypocrisy and brown-nosing bullplop.
“The men the American people admire most extravagantly are the most daring liars; the men they detest most violently are those who try to tell them the truth.” –H.L. Mencken (1880-1956)

I will do my best!
God, yes. Ain’t Glenzilla great? I love the smell of scorched wingnuts in the morning. There’s no better way to start the day.
Geez,
Should we look again?
Carton of 1% milk at Palmer Alaska Fred Meyer today – buy two 1/2 gallons for $5.00.
Busy blogging about and researching state politics this evening, getting a cold, and finishing up after the first day back teaching after the holiday break.
A lot warmer – almost plus 20F today.
Margot try editing your FDL profile and adding your face book location again. Something have dropped of your FDL section for your facebook URL.
Chris, try again, I changed something…maybe it will work.
weren’t you -19 below yesterday or some dog-awful cold number?
two days ago. It got warmer and snowed. We’re going skiing tomorrow. Beautiful powder!
With 99% of precincts reporting, here are the results:
So, given that he didn’t make 5%, I presume that Guiliani will be barred from the next debate. Right?
Hi ET. Per KO, today is “Edward Teller’s birthday.” Thought you’d like to know. (But probably you already knew.)
tweety will be in tears
That great that Paul basically trounced the ghoul.
Paul’s numbers were one delegate less than the combined total of freddie and rudy rudy rudy
Sounds like the fix’n for a good front-pager to me.
It’d be an interesting compare and contrast of all the collected polls vs. the opinions of the talking heads.
Still broken link it goes to persons page who is clicking your “F” and not your profile.
Yessir, i did just that. Thanks.
http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=552166933
Yes. Can’t you just hear him detumesce?
I just watched CNN for about three minutes and some old gal is claiming 3 percent for Rudy tonight was a real good thing. Just how far off the stage would anyone be laughed off if they claimed 4 percent was a good thing for Kucinich?
The real ET’s birthday! Let’s blow something up that glows in the dark to celebrate, huh?
It worked for me!
double crap.. bolton and his moustache are on TDS tonight. ack, i can’t stand it (switching to nature program on pbs)
I read that earlier tonight on a blog, but I thought it was a joke. Someone really said that? OMG, they’ve all lost their minds.
Ok, not a surprise to firepuppies, but come on. Do they pay the pundits to say this crap?
Got milk??
Milk! I knew there was something I forgot at the grocery. There’s this teenager in my house going through a serious growth spurt.
Rudy 912 only beat DK by 3000 votes there.
Suz I guess this is who you mean… Got Milk
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_R._Bolton
tis enough to make me swear off milk if i click on that, nahant. and i happen to like milk.
I got here late and didn’t get the general reaction to the debates.
FWIW, I found Russert and (to a lesser extent) Williams to be embarrassing. By contrast, I was favorably impressed with the candidates.
I still favor Edwards, but now (for vague reasons) I feel better about Obama and Hillary than I did earlier.
A couple of months ago, an extremely bright friend of mine has had some official interactions with Hillary. He was amazed by her command of details. He said that for their meetings she was one of the best prepared people he has ever met. He said that she is either extremely bright or has an awsome staff; and probably both. Tonight for the first time, I got a sense of what he was talking about.
wigwam, i missed the debate. i was forking cleaning
Green collar worker training was my favorite little new line tonight.
He is definitely on my shit list along with most of Bushco’s admin.
speaking of cleaning, time for me to head back to it. don’t tell anyone i spent my time here – yes, i’m looking at you margot (laughing)
off to clean the (gasp) bathroom
Colbert’s puss milk skit keeps popping into my mind :S
I caught that one to… pretty good line… but there is a lot of hiring here in the Valley by the solar companies,,, most are looking for people with no solar background but a good track record in former employment..
A bit of good news from Washington State in terms of impeachment:
Impeachment in Washington State House as Well as Senate
A DOUBLE HEADER IN WASHINGTON STATE!
By Linda Boyd, http://www.washingtonforimpeachment.org
Washington For Impeachment is delighted to announce that Representative Maralyn Chase will introduce a bill calling for the impeachment of George Bush and Dick Cheney in the Washington State House of Representatives. The full text of House Joint Memorial 4027 will be accessible online on January 16th on the House website: Access Washington.
Representative Chase should be commended for her response to a resolution supporting impeachment from her legislative district. She works with the full support of her constituents.
PUBLIC HEARING ON THURSDAY:
The public hearing for State Senator Eric Oemig’s bill, SJM 8016 is scheduled for this Thursday, January 17, 3:30 p.m., room 2 of the Cherberg Bldg. on the State Capitol Campus in Olympia.
SJM 8016-2007-08, updated by Senator Oemig, calls on Congress to conduct a full investigation and trial for the President and Vice President. The bill, first introduced Feb. 15, 2007, was heard before the Senate Government, Operations and Elections Committee on March 31, 2007, with over 500 impeachment supporters at the capitol that day.
In a vast improvement over last year, Senator Oemig’s Bill to impeach Bush and Cheney will be heard in the Senate Government Operations and Elections Committee in the first week of the session. Last year, the bill was heard one day after the cutoff date, and didn’t move out of committee.
Momentum for impeachment in Washington State continues to expand with public disclosures of destruction of torture tapes, intelligence from the NIE reporting that Iran does not possess nuclear weapons, and continued belligerence towards Iran. More that 1,200 protesters turned out in downtown Bellevue in August to protest George Bush’s visit.
Washington For Impeachment, Citizens to Impeach Bush and Cheney, and a broad coalition of citizen’s groups are working closely to achieve a significant victory for democracy.
Please thank Rep. Maralyn Chase for her committment to her constituents and the rule of law! Please send a postcard to:
433 John L. O’Brien Building PO Box 40600 Olympia, WA 98504-0600
Please also send a postcard to thank Senator Oemig: 416 Legislative Building PO Box 40445 Olympia, WA 98504-0445 .
If you are unable to attend the hearing, please send written testimony in support of SJM 8016:
or mail to POBox 40466, Olympia,WA 98504, Attention Wanda Cahill
Please also copy testimony to WFI: info@washingtonforimpeachment.org
Impeachment is on the table in Washington State!

Contrast this happy news with a statement from Rep. Brian Baird, the Bush dog Democrat who represents my conservative-voting district, who last night in front of a group of Democrats said (this is not word for word, but the gist of what he said): Who will get the blame for Iraq? If we (The United States military) stay a little longer, not us but the Iraquis. He went on to say, when a Vietnam veteran called him out on his blame statement, that what he meant is that the US needs to establish a security buffer so Iraq can handle its own security, and that Iraq is not the same as Vietnam.
It was about this time that my head exploded and I could no longer take notes.
Perhaps we should have a contest:
The question before the FireDogLake debate judges being:
Is Bev Harris
A) A complete pain in everyone’s ass?
OR
B) A national treasure who deserves much greater respect, admiration and audience size?
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Jury,
You be the judge, and be sure to let us know what you think.
[Note: Just to put my thumb on the scale, I have to admit that my admiration and respect for Bev Harris have only grown over the years. If I might make a modest proposal, I’d think that we at FireDogLake would feel much more intelligent and empowered if we were to chat on our stream-of-consciousness thread about a wonderment of the firmament like Bev Harris and leave behind white trash like Chris Matthews, whom we could bury by ignoring the bastard quicker than we can by allowing that slimebucket to continue to encourage controversy, and thus ratings and thus profits for his evil war contractor bosses. Just sayin’…]
OSTRACISM FOR OLEAGINOUS OLIGARCHS!
That’s GREAT NEWS, Votus!
Impeach!
They sat that Romney wasn’t built in a day. What’s next with that fraud?
OSTRACIZE OLEAGINOUS OLIGARCHS!
IMPEACH, INDICT, INCARCERTATE, Champale!
Impeach and fork Baird!
Sweet! Thanks, Votus.
Doing what?
Oh come on! “Champale” is that any thing like water boarding but using champagne?? If so what a waste….used motor oil would work better!
nite suz!
im out, too
lol, good night all :)
Re:
I believe there’s a blog that captures the essential nature of the stupid is as stupid does crowd.
Will they ever learn? Sadly, No.
Learning and doing what needs doing for the business sort of like any start up you wear many hats. Most of the companies are just starting up and need good reliable people…. Info from SJ Mercury
I agree. It gets even better when you realize that we have Democrats in control of our Washington state House and Senate, and our Governor is a Democrat. Ya gotta love it.
Agreed! And with that, I’m off to bed. Night all.
you want to trade governators we get yours and you get Arnoold?
To much excitement today what with the debate and all, so G’night all you pups!!
Rub it in, why dontcha, Votus…
We intend to fix that.
My “hobo” blues have finally subsided a little bit. Think I will turn in as well.
good night all..
I’m sure you will.
nite eureka
Now instead of sour grapes, we have sour milk.
Thanks for the blues, ES, whom I see I’ve just missed. Hearing about hobos and riding the rails always reminds me of how much of human history has been lived in almost total darkness. The 1930s hobos were often really young kids, too, as the lyric suggests.
Re: DIGG
DIGG was created and is run by a bunch of right wingers who are entralled with the notions of Big Brother-ish data mining. You can find all sorts of interesting articles about the service on the web, with a minimum of sleuthing.
Here’s a couple links:
I regard Wired as a trustworthy source of tech news. They have found much to criticize and comment on regarding Digg.
Faking your way up to the front page.
You ask:
I assume “a fan” is a euphemism for FBI, “a friend” is the NSA, you are alerting dataminers to the evidence regarding your thought crimes when you add someone as a friend. You think you have personal information? What a marvelously quaint notion. I don’t dig Digg, and I don’t think I have any plans to join anytime soon.
[The proceding message is brought to you by the TinFoilPropeller Hat Company, Be sure to visit our website http://www.noneofyourbusiness.us.
ES,
This is rather discouraging. Kucinich’s legal team apparently didn’t have a clue how to argue the case before the Nevada Supreme Court. Look for “Big Tent Democrat”’s comments in thi article for the explanation that Kucinich’s team failed to present the appropriate rejoinder to the flaming bullies from war profiteering NBC.
http://www.talkleft.com/story/2008/1/15/202937/764
We got any legal eagles up here tonight who might care to kibbitz?
Thanks for the link and the opinion as well. :)
Thanks! Glenn is one of my heroes. :)
all alone,ES?
anyone there?
