UPDATE: NBC projects Mitt Romney to win the Michigan primary. Markos' fiendish plan works.
Kucinich won't be part of the Nevada debate tonight.
Michigan Messenger liveblogging the primary results.
Early exit polls say independents just aren't that into McCain, and indicate Romney may get his first gold.
Marcy Wheeler reports that Michigan turnout is expected to be abysmal. Election officials say it could be 20% of Michigan's 7.14 million registered voters.
TBogg reduces Dean Barnett: "Only nitpickers would look at Mitt Romney's poor decision making abilities, insincerity, cynicism, ego, phoniness, and naked political ambition and not see what a great President he would be."

Hi Jane!
Fingers crossed for Romney. Please, please, please.
Marcy Wheeler reports that Michigan turnout is expected to be abysmal.
Which is exactly what the Willardites were hoping for.
What does *that* say about his campaign?
How do you make a “raspberry” sound on a computer?
If Teh Bible does not say “Huck wins MI,” then maybe, notsomuch.
Love live the KOS!
Except in her district. Cause/effect?
Go Tagg!
Hi,y’all.
Russert’s head is gigantic. I never noted it before.
Hi Jane, are we just the sick bunch, hanging on for every turn?
literally, figuratively, or both?
PBBBBBBBBTHPT
that’s yer raspberry noize right there
Good gawd. Mittie? My party better damn well put a Demo in the WH next November. Or they can count on losing two 39 year straight Democratic voting voters. Lahoma and me.
Both, definitely.
What gives them the right to exclude Kucinich?
I heard on Democracy Now that a judge ordered MSNBC to include Kucinich in the debate and that an appeal was on hand.
LOL it’s just right
His name ain’t Punkinhead for nuthin’!
Lahoma and I will vote Democratic next November. Regardless of our party nominee’s name, gender or ethnic background.
OT
So I was walking home from seeing Kite Runner (highly recommended) this evening, when I noticed dark cars with flashing lights, kleig lights, a big boom, scores of people standing around doing nothing, all the trappings of movie making a block away from my apt bldg. Funnily enough, they’re using the same bldg as the movie Fur, about Diane Arbus, (weirded me out, but good movine nonetheless)that was made about 2 years ago. How much of a cliche can Hollywood get?
Actually it’s a very interesting bldg. To me it looks neoEgyptian, with 3 or 4 round brick columns, about 3 stories tall in the front. It actually houses municipal rec facilities, like swimming pool, basketball court, etc. Was built in 1911, and here’s some history:
http://mobile.nycgovparks.org/?id=11992
I couldn’t find a photo online.
The new movie is called International and it’s an action movie, which means I probably won’t be seeing it.
PBBBBBBBBTHPT
that’s yer raspberry noize right there
And thumbs in both ears, waving fingers.
kiddo, I am with you and lahoma only because I know any Democrat will hold the Supreme line before it goes 6-3.
I can quit watching primary returns any time. Really.
Sam Seder is awesome!
Giuliani looks to be bringing up the rear, again.
Huckster wants to bring back public stoning for adultery, among other things.
I finally figured out who Romney reminds me of. The robot kid in AI. And right now, he’s communing with The Blue Fairy.
Randi Rhodes says it is purely a contract issue and she spoke to Kucinich as he left the NV Supreme court at 5pm EST. He hadn’t been told the results then.
Why is MSNBC choosing our candidates for us?
egr, we can just drink wine and chat?
We like Kucinich. We like Edwards. We like Dodd. We don’t like Hillary and Obama. But… the movers and shakers in the Democratic Party (our party) and the DLC doesn’t listen to us.
It’s growing.
Jeralyn has the link to the NV Supreme Ct decision but:

Dems made a big mistake not doing the Michigan primary, should not have let the republicans get the attention.
http://p2plendingwithprosper.blogspot.com/
Huckabee represents the Talibanic wing of the Talabanic Party.
I posted this earlier today - seems appropriate for pre-debate:
The poll further shows that 77 percent of Americans believe the country is on the wrong track, topping a record high in early 1996, when Republican congressmen shut down the federal government in a dispute with Democrats over funding.
So the George W. Bush is *less* popular than a total shut-down of the federal government. And the Democrats, tonight, might very well spend their time trashing *each other*!!
Come on, Dems. Shoot at the big easy target. Talk about the elephant in the room. I won’t think less of you.
http://rawstory.com/news/2007/....._0115.html
20% of registered voters is actually pretty good for a primary where only one party has a contest. Isn’t that more than half of the registered Republicans?
It is most ironic, that Michigan has to endure lots of people out of work. Gloalization is bad enough, but a ineffective Democratic Party has also failed. They gave their state a renegade and meaningless primary, with a very low turn out. Of course there are plenty of timid Democrats, but this is a lesson. A Democratic Party that does not fight for working people will fail. Death to Globalization.
If Iowa meant that God wanted cHuckleby to be our omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent President, do the results in New Hampshire and Michigan mean that God has decided , “Ehhh, not so much!?” I guess God believes in the wisdom of the separation of church and state after all. Thank God!
Tea please.
Jeralyn has the Nevada Supreme Court decision up on her site, TalkLeft, regarding exclusion of Kucinich from tonight’s debate. Basically, NSC says lower court exceeded its authority–Dennis should have petitioned FCC for relief for the regulation in question, not the Nevada courts.
There are those in the GOP who are investing in rock quarries as we speak.
My block, too.
MSNBC exit polls: Republicans hate Bush.
50% Republicans angry or dissatisfied with the President
68% think economy is not so good or poor, #1 issue — way above the war, terrorism or immigration.
Independents did not show up for McCain. One in ten voters Democrats.
OK, egr. Tea. For you.
No real Dem primary means turnout down all around. Repubs will turn out in higher numbers if there is a parallel primary. Comptetiveness of appearance.
Stand alone primary and Repubs would rather not deal with snow. Feel the excitement.
And can someone remind me why the mainstream media still mentions him constantly as an “important” Republican candidate?
Oh, right, he is going to “sweep Florida”, and then, the nation. Sure.
Not to pour water on those stats, Jane, but some of those folks who are angry at Bush are angry because they think Dubya should have thrown all the Dems into Gitmo just for questioning Dear Leader.
Kind of like a number of us are angry with Congress for rolling over every time Bush says “terror!”
GO MITTENS!!!!!
I hope the Dems start talking about the Bush and Republican recession..over and over..
Aha, I was wondering where you lived. Did you see Fur? Got your email & will get one out for next FDL NYC area meetup, probably tomorrow.

Thanks for the pep talk. Sigh.
Kiddo and Lahoma…I have a response to your support for Edwards that got EPU’d if you really wish to see one. Just visit the last post.
BTW I will vote for Edwards if he is the nominee.
Verry interrresting! I keep wondering what all those leaders in the Middle East are thinking as they hug and kiss Bush and give him big gold necklaces. “Jesus H Christ, why do we have to even talk to this stupid asshole anymore? Nothing he says mean jack shit anyway. Even his own country thinks he’s a total schmuck.”
Who’s “Uncommitted”? I mean, I know he must be an old white guy, but i don’t recall having seen him.
On the other hand, I hope he kicks Freddy T’s ass.
betcha Barney pisses on his leg
Didn’t see “Fur”. I don’t watch movies. The last one I saw was about porno actors or something, with Bert Reynolds.
almost live-blog time!!
I’m guessing that “Jesus H Christ” wouldn’t be the exclamation to erupt from the mouths of the Middle Eastern leaders.
Otherwise, I think you nailed it.
it says a lot that in a state where unemployment is 2nd in the nation, that Romney looks he will win. He made his money in Bain capital …one of the worst in the private equity world…AND known for Union busting…In the company I worked for (I was laid off by a Bain company in June after almost 10 years) workers tried to organize because they were underpaid. Bain closed the warehouse and laid off over 150 people. Then opened another warehouse 100 miles away…
Romney = Greed id good

I was trying to think of what Israelis, Palestinians, or Saudis would use analogously, but I has no clue.
just plain EVIL
We have a cat named Mittens. Please do not take his name in vain.
msnbc announcing a mcain win..
NBC is already declaring Mitt as the victor…
oops - correction - Mitt the Twit in 1st…
Typographical error, or timeless truth?
My lady and me are keeping our eyes on the prize. We want the WH back in Democratic hands. Lahoma wants for me to say hello to you. ;0)
Romney 37% (projected winner by MSNBC)
McCain = 31%
Huck = 16%
9% reporting
MITTENS WINS!!!!
KO just announced Mitt…
Looking at actual results and exit polls that sounds unlikely, Mittbott 37% to St John 31% at the moment.
OH SORRY….me and my feline cohorts beg a million pardons
Rudy
3%
McCain? I was giving it to ”Teh Bible.”
breaking: WBLMP calls it for Ron Paul
poor Il Douchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhe
limo at eleven
Are the stones supposed to be large enough to cause suffering, but small enough not to cause immediate death? I think that’s in the Scripture…but maybe just the Talmud.
Kumbayah has commenced.
Just wait for Florida! Rudy’s the man!!
Perhaps “In the name of all that is holy” would cover it nicely.
I wonder how fast the spinners for McCain will start saying that Democratic and independents appear to have put Mitt Headroom over the To-To-To-To-Top (head vigorously twitching).
Any exit polls on how “Independents and Democrats” voted…or did they bother to ask…and were the “crossovers” honest?
new debate thread upstairs
