Democratic candidates: All sound good. Responsible, substantial, won’t let the moderators drag them into pie fights.
Republican candidates: See attached YouTube.
Michigan exit poll here.
Heh.
Michael Chabon rips Richard Cohen. Well played.
Emptywheel agrees with Powerline. The space-time continuum fractures.
Tweety says Hillary made an "ad hominem" attack on Bush. I do not think that means what he thinks it means.

“Thoughtful question: When did you decide to run for President?
Sheesh!
What’s that brown stuff on BriBri’s nose?
Edwards!!!
Present.
PunkinHaid needs to be run out of business.
Dick Cheney Controls Tim Russert!
Edwards you go man
I hate these two mods. They are the worst. We need to get them out and Keith in.
Homestretach?
Just lucky! I have no idea how you guys are keeping up! These threads are moving way too fast for me!
Oh did I mention KEITH OLBERMANN!!!
Where for art thou Keith?
Dems to run UNOPPOSED for for POTUS
The candidates were all good. Edwards was GREAT.
MSNBC, not so much.
They make me proud to be a democrat. Any of them (altho i’m pulling for edwards) is head & shoulders above any of the republican field.
He is thanking Harry Reid. Thumbs down to Harry Reid for not supporting Chris Dodd’s principaled stand on FISA…
Jerk.
Blessed relief, it’s over.
they are all teh COMPETENT!!!
not too much to spin here
even though the pubs will try!
Why was Natalie Morales way out in right field? IS MSNBC racist? Anti-latino?
And now we’re off to get loaded and score some hookers!
KO!
Good debate. Good comments.
What will be the MSM spin. Oh, forget that I asked.
Ahhhhh Keith… that is better.
I was wrong.
Keith.
Up next!
OH THANK GAWWWWWWD for KO
C’mon BriBri, how about another one of your funny jokes about gambling in Las Vegas…ahhhh, c’mon
BW-”and we want to thank the NV supreme court for allowing us to continue our fascist domination of the democratic process”
My TiVo is changing channels to Jon Stewart. Yay!
Yeah – it’s right up there with root canal work.
Yeah. Our third-best candidate is better than all the Rethugs combined.
Why wasn’t Olbermann moderating???!!!
heehee
Thanks for the snark.
The good news is KO is up next on MSNBC – bad news is he has to share the broadcast with Chris Matthews, whose behavior lately is especially bonkers.
you’d better slow those mustangs down.
Love KO, cannot stand to see Tweety. Off to bed.
Romney just said he was a ’scumbag for America’……Wait, he said it was a comeback for America.
-G
It’s a Mitt-a-morphisis!
Don’t celebrate KO yet… Tweety will be along soon enough.
Michigan Dem primary — computer glitch in counting Uncommitted. Hm.
oh nooooooo TWITTY
Tweety. Yuck.
His head hopefully will explode on TV tonight as he is pissed that the candidates were “convivial” instead of firing at each other.
KO reporting voting machine problems in 20 counties.
We rate the debate thingie tonight this way:
Edwards
Obama
Hillary
We like Edwards more tonight than we did last night.
We’re going to bed.
I didn’t catch the debate but I just want to say in defense of Timmeh it is hard for him to ask questions with his head up his ass.
I was proud of all three of them…!
Hey watch it! I’ve never once gotten excited about a codpiece.
George Bush controls Chris Matthews
Dick Cheney controls Tim Russert
911 controls Rudy 3% Guilliani
Brian Williams stinks
Thanks you all who live-blogged the debate so those of us who couldn’t stomach watching could stay informed! I really am grateful.
Tweety is giving Hill the nomination already. Blech.
TWITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTY SUKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKS
Nite OK, Lahoma.
-G
Oh yeah. Are there no paper trails…will uncommitted ask for a recount.
Tweety callling for Hillary win. Well lets see who do the Rethugs want to be head to head against? hmmmm Hillary?
Tweety real mad because Hillary criticized the president!
Tweety calls it for Hillary. Says she was already president in her performance.
Olbermann is not as serious as Dick Cheney’s go to guy Racist Tim Russert. Hard-hitting Russert got to the heart of the matter – is America ready for a black or female president. He thinks they’re yucky.
Dead Fred got 4% I see…also Vampira died.
I WILL TURN OFF MSNBC
Oh f it is russert…icky.
Tweety is very worried that George will be belittled by Hillary …
projecting much Tweety?
In an earlier debate the ‘english only’ question was asked. Dodd jumped on it. Paraphrasing, his response was something like “We’ve got to stop with those divisive issues. We need more Americans to be bilingual. That’s an issue contrived to divide Americans.” Then he spoke Spanish.
I liked that answer better than the ones we got tonight.
What the frig is wrong with that guy? Just started reading KO’s collection of transcripts of his “Special Commentaries”, aka “Why George Bush is a Fuckwit”. It also has added context-setting narrative. It’s really good.
Anyone see any difference in the three candidate’s positions on what to do about Iraq? I didn’t.
Tweety doesn’t like that they didn’t fight…
KO came *this close* to saying that the Dems didn’t get into a fight despite “efforts to make them do so”. He stopped after the word “efforts”, and then went a different direction…
Fred Thompson popped out of his crypt to concede.
-G
It’d take a pretty big one but I’d sure like to see a cork sticking out of Tweety’s mouth.
I turned it off. I thought all were good and Hillary not as strident as usual.
Edwards led the content and they all borrowed from him.
I believe that what they say about Iraq is nearly completely irrevelant to predicting what they will do once elected.
no, I saw no difference except that Edwards would put the quick reaction force in Kuwait.
Off to the Sharks hockey game tied 3-3 in the third period.. go sharks
Probably someone in his ear saying “don’t go there”
uh-oh, Tweety announcing that Obama and Edwards are now a part of the Clinton castrada…
I thought all candidates did fine. No big differences.
Russert is tattling on the Dems. He played Gotcha! and he got ‘em.
He’s awake this late?
I hope the Culinary Local 226 is particularly inept when handling the serving of the MSNBC staff after that insipid performance by Russert & Company. Someone needs some hot coffee in the old crotcheroo!
None of that that tweety just said happened!!! he’s insane……
great debate! Edwards won this hands down ;-)
Can’t take mathews…… must go now……
Edwards!!!
Sweet Jesus, Matthews is an idiot.
Good Night, All.
But the more that they get pushed to the left by Edwards, the less flexibility they have after elected. None of them would ignore voters wishes as much as W did.
I would love to hear KO..but Twitty spitting at the screen is too much for this gal…no can do
Seeing what dumb-assed “insight” Tweetie drones on and on about has become one of my favorite things during events like this. At first I was horrified. Now I’m fascinated.
Should we be flooding msnbc’s email at this moment with how awful both tweety and phead are doing……. I mean they are spinning their heads off!!!
I’d have put more effort into it if I’d known…
No..the only thing new is that Rosa DeLauro and Clinton are trying to pass legislation to block Bush from using Status of forces agreement to keep us in Iraq forever.
They tried to get over the issue of race…yeah no thanks to the Mods.
why is tweety shouting?
trying to save his job perhaps?
Oooh. Mrs. Greenspan uses code word strident wrt Hillary (said Hillary wasn’t strident, wink, wink.)
I didn’t watch the entire thing, but from what I did see, I was glad that the candidates seemed to be determined not to let the commentators and pundits set their agenda. It’s about time!
Tweety needs to keep Hillary on top so he has an excuse to attack her all next week on Hardball.
No one proposed a resolution to force Bushkin to come to congress before bombing the shit out of Iraq.
andrea mitchell just complimented
hillary:
“She wasn’t grating.”
Sort of OT. I missed what George Steph said at the end of his show Sunday. It sounded like he said that from here on he would only be interviewing candidates that had won a primary or caucus. But, I’m not sure. Did anyone hear anything like that?
No doubt.
Oops
I mean Iraq.
Russert never stops whoring for Cheney – the race issue. He is awesome! Mrs. Greenspan up next with more centrist unbiased commentary.
HA!
Because he is awake at the moment. Of course, rumor has it he also shouts in his sleep — but that’s only a rumor.
I believe they will be greatly cabined by circumstance, geopolitical, national political, and military.
I’m proud of all of them, too, OC!
Ok these silly folks shall be resoundingly ignored. Love Keith but my debate enhancing wine is making me sleepy.
Hugs to all. I hope we get a great president no matter what!
Firepups!!!!
they are going to try to push the race issue some more…
Losers…
Edwards is missing from the discussion and from the autograph signing coverage. Where did he go?
Andrea is really good at pretending to be non-partisan, except when she appeared on the old Imus show.
Right (though it does not need to be so). But the starting point matters.
If Tweety or Timmeh were fired, would NBC get even one viewer complaint outside of Dick Cheney? There’s absolutely no public base of support for these clowns. In fact, it’s probably not too hard to make the case that they hurt ratings (think Tweety’s pathetic performance with Jon Stewart).
Makes you wonder why they’ve kept these jobs for so long.
OT:
Breaking news – At least 23 people killed in a bomb and grenade attack on a bus in Sri Lanka, police say. (per CNN — more to come)
Keith trying to make the fellahs seem like grownups, David going along. Tweety unhappy, stirring shit. Russert looking forward to his Halliburton package in the mail from Cheney tomorrow.

BREAKING: Wexler Demands Impeachment Hearings on Floor
http://www.dailykos.com/story/…..812/437533
Funny the things one remembers when they don’t realize what they will remember it until after the fact. The one thing that seems to still keep coming back to my mind is that Barack doesn’t do himself any favors when he points out that he is not the “executive” type. He made it sound like he doesn’t quite understand that the President is the head of the government and the chief executive office of the executive branch. I think he used a different word, but that was my perception of what he projected.
I love it when they talk about the housing bubble and Andrea gets reeeeaaaaal quiet….
Is the Frank Luntz segment next?
I wish Mitt would get 40% instead of 39%
Oh jeez, gold medal talk….
Neo-con Andrea Mitchell, phony journalist for the corporations: “Yucca mountain does not mean anything to the rest of the country.”
We are so stupid we do not know about the half life of plutonium. We are stopping her rich friends with their uranium mines. They know a lot about making money from the nuclear industry, because they are rich. Her husband Alan Greenspan is also rich. He is smart. I am poor. I am stupid. Stop Yucca Mountain!
are you sure?
No cat fight tonight!
Hmmm. Mittsters poll numbers have been exactly the same in Michigan as more & more precincts report. Guess he’s even better at the voting machine manipulation than Karl Rove.
Where the mainstream media wants him: disappeared. I have posted on this issue at my own blog.
I think you’re right.
Really??
What would it take to work that magic on Tweety?
Save our republic by having the Democratic Party vote with instant run-off ballots for out three leaders. Primary
delegates and electoral colleges don’t work. Horse transportation don’t work.
Agreed, all very similar. And although the numbers (3-4000 troops) are not as large as an occupation fiorce they are commensurate with some of the smaller deployments in Bosnia, Kosovo, Haiti and Somalia (yes back during “Black Hawk Down”). They are far above any other Marine deployment ever used to “protect the embassy”. That many troops only leads to targetting and mission creep, IMO. Throw in “Rapid Deployment Forces” (which obviously would be larger than the in-country units) over the horizon and this is a prescription for continued involvement.
Sorry, I don’t like this. We need to consider ways of getting entirely out of the Middle East.
I think Timmeh’s comment that Clinton did anything to “position” herself as in charge is absurd.
I also can’t remember Clinton being CEO of anything or close to it in every job she’s had. I see nothing that makes her more ready than the other to people at all to occupy the West Wing Day 1 unless the other people are the pathetic Republican candidates.
Debates are really overrated in respect to the choices people make in primaries–maybe they have considerably more effect in the general but I thought Edwards did a terrific job tonight as far as debates go.
http://www.democrats.com/peoplesemailnetwork/125
Go sign the petition to you Senators and you congress person!!
It’s not the Yucca Mountain I worry about…it’s the gettin’ to Yucca Mountain.
Romney didn’t do interviews tonite; Keith perplexed.
Mittster saying the Beltway crew is worried… Understatement…?
This I gotta see, BRB.
They are saying Edwards chose not to do interviews tonight. He’s headed for SC, and doing the Today Show tomrorrow according to the reporter just on.
I think the first step is get the republicans out of office.
I wish John McCain would stop saying “my friends.”
the mutt was kinda tired
AHHH Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!
Lieberman looks like he just swallowed a lemon, whole.
Scurvy fucking traitor.
McCain reading his speech again??
Well, did I hear that wrong, Mittens is who they were talking about, not Edwards? I could have sworn the reproted said “his wife Elizabeth” is heading to one state, and him to another.
Check out Lindsey Graham just bursting with joy joy joy behind McCain.
Wow! I think I looked like that when I tried ’shrooms in high school.
She was in the top 100 lawyers in the country one year i heard somewhere.
Smart.
Morning audience much bigger than MSNBC postgame.
Naw…he never even got out of his Hugh Hefner silk jammies tonight.
-G
These reporters who are embedded with the campaigns sound like they’re suffering from Stockholm Syndrome.
Looks like the cradle of the Confederacy, South Carolina, may choose the racist GOP’s nominee. Just like last time. How fitting.
I’m afraid I’m going to have to appropriate the term “big shitpile” for the group McCain had around him for his loser speech.
Hillary said she decided to run last year…thats not true she and Bill decided long ago

Anyone see any difference in the three candidate’s positions on what to do about Iraq? I didn’t.
No..the only thing new is that Rosa DeLauro and Clinton are trying to pass legislation to block Bush from using Status of forces agreement to keep us in Iraq forever.
Most excellent!
Yes, he did look awfully gay.
You know, as in happy.
All the reporters seem sad for Old Lord McCain. I think these guys want one of these races wrapped up. They are bored. Except Tim, of course, who wants to talk about race.
it didn’t look good – whatever that was…
Ready to break into song, even.
Seeing that bastard Short Ride standing there like a hopefull pencil necked geek just
Pisses
Me
Off.
Dude, you are goin’ down.
Does this mean things are not lookin’ so good for either Liarman or Paw-lenty’s veep chances?
heh-heh-heh….
Wow, I can’t imagine what help Joe Lieberman thinks he can be to McCain in South Carolina. Perhaps RGJoe won’t go home and no one will tell him?
Yep! It’s a long twisty road, sometimes with bad drivers and nasty conditions. But those in Nevada care about once it gets there. Everybody else is worried about those canisters just sitting around in places like Rancho Seco and San Onofre. But as long as Harry Reid is Speaker Yucca is Yeck-Ah.
Josh Marshall is having an unusually funny romp with tonight’s debate. Go over and read some of his color commentary. Very concisely funny.
that’s about right.
Well, ‘uncommitted’ on the Dem side is 39% with 89% reporting, I think it might be a little prob in Denver…
Oh no, Trippi and Axelrod.
Michael Chabon rips Richard Cohen. Well played.
nicely done, neighbor.
that Axelrod’s an ugly dude…
IRAN?
Wow, a black person on MSNBC. Whoda thunkit?
It’s all downhill from here….for McCain and Liarman and Paw-lenty….the peak done pukked.
except, as cinnamonape notes, for those of us who live along major interstates or rail routes and don’t want nukewaste tippin’ over in our backyards….
89% in from MI . . . (MSNBC)
Mitt Romney 311,658 39%
John McCain 237,944 30%
Mike Huckabee 128,841 16%
Ron Paul 50,298 6%
Fred Thompson 29,680 4%
Rudy Giuliani 22,623 3%
Uncommitted 16,254 2%
Duncan Hunter 2,609 0%
* * *
Ron Paul has lapped Rudy. Gotta like it.
Tweety cannot let go of this “power moment” when Hill started acting like the nominee. I missed this moment. Making lasagna here.
Since he’s behind CrazyTrain McCain, perhaps it’ll be this song?
http://youtube.com/watch?v=JRbPWcLode0
Hey, undead Fred passed Rudy Ghouli too
toobz seem to have unclogged…
Has anyone mentioned the way Mrs. Greenspan hissed out the words “these people” when she was talking about Hillary’s looking like the leader?
as in ” Yes, it looks like she’s now the leader among these people“.
Soundin’ real professional there, Mrs. G.
I think he’s saying that Hillary wasn’t “strident” and “grating”…no wait, that was Andrea Mitchell…was she implying that Ol’ Punkinhead tone it down?
Tweety sez Hillary used ad hominem attacks on W. I thought she was just stating the obvious. Is it one of the “emperor-no-clothes” moments?
Apparently the Michigan GOP announced that McCain had won and then had to retract.
-G
Oh no . . . I think it was a showtune from a Broadway musical that Lindsey was thinking of.
What do you mean by that?
Why do these guys go on teevee? Why do the candidates let them? Or are we the only ones watching? They are terrible and Tweety makes mincemeat of them.
Matthews getting ugly with Clinton’s spokesman…
I missed this moment.
Apparently it was when Hillary mentioned that George Bush hasn’t been all that great a president. Evidently, to Tweety that means that she’s left the primaries behind, and is now running in the general election.
It’s “Tweety-logic”.
“They are saying Edwards chose not to do interviews tonight. He’s headed for SC, and doing the Today Show tomrorrow according to the reporter just on.”
I think Edwards likes Matt Lauer’s informality. I saw him on Today before NH and it really went well.
Poor Huckleberry Graham he got caught releasing his inner-Clay Aiken for a fleeting moment.
-G
I think we are the only idiots watching these nitwits… nobody else has clue one… and why we bother ourselves with this is beyond me…
Well, the Clinton spokesperson sure isn’t helping Hillary. Unless I misunderstanding him, I think he just said there is no problem with the lobby environment in DC.
For those of you who feel that Edwards is the invisible candidate, now you know how it feels to be a professional woman 90% of the time.
Is that the same as Hillary’s Decertification of the IAUF Resolution? Or is that dead through tabling?
Tweetlo
One.
Singular sensation.
In every little stall we meet…
Re a status of forces agreement, if Bush negotiates this without bringing it to Congress, then all the Democratic nominees should say they will not feel bound by it. The Iraqis know that they will be dealing with a Democratic President and they could well defer on a deal with Bush as a result.
Tweety is very proud of having made an idiot of himself over whether the Clinton spokesman is a lobbyist. Cute smile, Tweety.
When will someone tell Matthews to go fuck himself?
Never has a man deserved it more, except Bush and Cheney.
-G
This is so true. And try having prematurely grey hair. Or used to be prematurely grey hair.
Is Trippi a good rep for Edwards on TV?
well, it looks like they finally found a clip to use to make it look like there was a fight.
Obama’s saying that Hillary was sounding like she was pushing the fear meme.
Would that any of the candidates had the gumption to make such an announcement. I would love it! It is well past time for Bush to settle into his lame duckieness and go cut some brush at the ranch till his term is done.
I did think it was great when Hillary said that Bush was letting the Iraqi Parliament vote on the Status of Forces but not Congress.
No one mentioned the old rule that the President not be criticized at home while he’s abroad. I guess it doesn’t apply when he’s just off to see his boss SA.
I’ve been blond since childhood & intend to remain so until death do part my hair. Helps a lot.
Teddy you are in rare form this evening.
And I thought you were joking. From the AP:
Yeah, that’s the party we want in the White House — folks who push the wrong button.
Well to be attacked by “ad hominem” one would have to show some degree of having the quality of humanity.
Nice point. And deservedly so. Though wait til you see what the Rs do to Prez C, O, or E now that the rule’s been broken.
Ding!
Good one Rev.
The fact Obama and/or Edwards could contest Hill’s delegates with a third of the MI Dem turnout voted ‘Uncommitted’ that’s a good chunk of delegates, however the DNC’s punishment of MI’s and FLA’s delegates pans out…
Noron is wearing black leather.
Where’s the whip?
copy that, eCAHN! More like 99% in my experience, tho.
A wise qualification.
They want to force any agreement with Iraq to be in the form of a treaty rather than a status of forces. The first requires Senate approval the latter doesn’t.
Ah…thanks. Hopefully it won’t be that close.
That could be solved by Bush just hanging out at Gitmo rthe rest of his term, or his vacation ranch in Paraguay.
Hiya Valley Girl, long time no see.
Professional women of the world unite.
My son is 36 years younger than me. He thinks that I make all this shit up. Once at a resturant when he was about 18, I was trying to attract the waitress’s attention, unsuccessfully. He got her on his first try. So I looked at him and said, “Now do you get the point about the invisible woman?” For once, he had to concede the point.
Would “ad chimpinem” work?
None of the reporting of Mitt’s big win in Michigan is even comming close to the possibility that dem voters helped him win. We’ll probably never know for sure.
I didn’t realize that The Spin Doctors were still around…
Nora O
referred to the huckster as
baptist minister huckabee – not gov!
they’re trying to get rid of him asap!
There was some commentary about how Ds & independents didn’t show up, but I didn’t catch how they thought they knew that. Exit polls?
Noron said, even as she was reporting Willard’s lead, that the “Daily Kos” effect obviously didn’t pan out… (?)
hey – nobody ever said she didn’t earn that name…
The worst wingnut at the group dinner table at the ski lodge in Utah had to admit that Hucksterbee was the Ds’ dream R candidate.
Yes. (See the link above)
I thought that Michigan’s delegates are not certified since the State refused to keep to the queue that the DNC determined. No one RAN in Michigan, and almost all the candidates weren’t even on the ballot.
The ONLY way that Michigan would be certified would be if the delegation is irrelevant to to the outcome of the election…i.e. if one of the candidates accrues enough delegates to win out-of-hand. Then they will likely say “Okay, you can come in”.
But at that point they usually call for the nomination by unanimous proclamation or something.
Heard him referred to as Baptist extremist cleric Mike Huckabee.
He’s here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Boehner
She’s gonna make this Boner cry. He’s been very naughty.
That was the report I saw, and the conclusions were drawn from exit polls. Which makes me wonder about that, if you’re going to cross over in an open primary for the sole purpose of keeping someone in a race, would you be truthful to an exit poll?
An early exit poll estimate was 10% D and I’s voting for Thugs.
Maddow up.
Yeah, early on Noron had the results that showed more than 65% of the GOP voters were GOPs, only about 7% were Democrats. She actually said, “So much for the liberal website DailyKos’ plan to swing this primary to Mitt Romney.”
I heard her call him Huckabeenejad.
-G
Rachel and Keith!
2 smart people commenting at the same time!!
baptist minister huckabee – not gov!
they’re trying to get rid of him asap!
imo, Huck’s campaign just toasted itself today. “Amend the constitution to reflect the bible”. That locks up about, what – about 5% of the vote? And 95% of the vote against him?
I could also see a situation where MI and FL delegations might be seated for the convention, but prohibited from voting on the presidential nominee. That is, they could vote on the platform and other business, but not cast any votes for the nomination.
OMG, Pat Buchannan just said the Republicans don’t look like the dominant part this year, out loud.
THUD
HAHA!
I know. She’s precious.
Very little crossover, MM! Much to the chagrin of Markos…
In fact, more Dems voted for McCain than Mitt…! *g*
He’s just pissed about W’s “road to citizenship.”
Buchanan (spit!) sez Obama has moved too far to the left to win in the general. And that if the GOP can’t beat Clinton, they deserve to lose.
Hey you, Busted! I was in CT for 2 weeks for Christmas and NYs, and was totally offline. It was huge fun. Except for the knitting part. I owe you an email.
Maddow-”the Republicans can’t raise money, they can’t get anyone to vote for them.”
BTW-Buchanan is a horse’s ass, no offense to the horse. Rachel is shooting down his BS about BO being so far to the left.
Keith is giggling.
Pat Buchanan saying that hillary is so yesterday
Yesterday, like ‘92 to 2000 – the good ole days….
“Chris, you were not right in New Hampshire” — Pat
Keith in stitches.
I agree. That ruined any goodwill his smooth talking and genial manner have won him.
That is radical stuff.

Some of the best MSNBC evah.
Is everyone still watching MSNBC? It’s hysterical.
Corrected for you.
Both Pat and Bay were on MSNBC this morning at the same time — he as a commentator, and she as a shill for a campaign. It was truly scary.
I thought that stunt by Markos was pretty lame and cheap and frankly not a great thing for Democrats to be tied to.
-G
Rachel just shakes her head as they go to break without her getting a word in against Buchanan’s plaintive banshee wail.
Some of the best MSNBC evah.
Yep – Tucker is nowhere in sight.
Remind me who Bay shills for now?
what was tweety sayin’ about Hilalry been a queen?
the man is off his rocker…
Steve Jobs, OTOH, knows a thing or two about stunts:
May I have the envelope, please?
Oh, please let it be Phred!
So Howard Dean is getting involved in the disenfranchisement of voters in Nevada…Good on Howard
http://ruralvotes.com/thefield/?p=229
oh please don’t stop.
can’t stand ‘em here, so the telly’s off, but am greatly enjoying yer play-by-play.
timmeh mz g & tweets will have to face it some time.
for all their pomp & sniffle, they looked like buffoons tonight, & all 3 candidates were terrific.
Still like Edwards, hands down. Obama & Clinton can’t come close on environmental issues. And I think he’d be the best to give us our Constitution back, not to mention dealing with terrah issues realistically.
all the repubbles are a joke in comparison to any of the Dems, including the ones who weren’t invited to the deebate.
isn’t it Mitt?
I can’t remember – they all look the same to me…
I can’t wait to see what happens next. Anyone that turned off their tv, turn it back on.
Romney.
Nevermind, Rachel’s gone. She was great.
Andrea sez Huckster has a lot of “Christian fundamentals” working for him.
he’s been in whine mode for weeks now.
it’s been obvious for quite awhile – he’s in agony, looking at what they’ve done to his once fine party – poor baby.
I do not think Andrea liked Tweety saying to Chuck Todd “You and I are the same age.”
Already the talking heads are floating the idea of a late entry GOP candidate. Wonder who??
Stocks looking a tad choppy in Asia.

This headline from TPM:
LOL
tweety says
the pubs have no nominee…
remember brother jeb…
Tweets just said, “We don’t have a nominee, they don’t have a nominee.”
BIG FREAKING WOOPS!!!
You could rank them by degrees of baldness. (Sorry guys, the devil made me say it.)
I’m hoping the R primary keeps tweety’s attention for awhile… I liked the debate. I don’t want it spoiled by the babbling…
Rerun of McCain speech–he can’t go more than 10 seconds without looking down at his notes.
Alzheimers?
Newt was on the Today Show this am . . .
Heh, if ya think Clinton Redux is bad, bring out Jeb! *g*
This from TPM
I’m off to bed. Been fun. See you all tomorrow.
Fuckin’ Romney – “Washington is broken”.
This while he agrees with every goddamned thing that GWB has ever done, except that maybe Georgie didn’t push all of those great ideas hard enough.
Hell, the next Republican debate could feature only Mitt Romney, all by himself, debating himself, and there’d still be some hellacious arguments.
Newt, Jeb, Bloomberg, Lou Dobbs. Lotsa possibilities.
. . . and he had an op-ed from his new book in the Moonie Times this morning, too.

Oops: Michigan GOP news release touts McCain win
from HoustonChronicle.com — Politics
The Michigan Republican Party mistakenly sent out a news release Tuesday night congratulating John McCain for winning the state’s GOP primary. It quickly issued a second statement praising Mitt Romney for his win.
Oh, just wait a minute & Romeny will declare that DC is fixed.
That Jonathan Capehart is pretty cute.
G.W. Shitheel goes on a ‘peace tour’ and the region responds:

The Newt, or Jebbie? What a disaster for the GOP! The skeletons rattling around in those closets would be so much fun to set loose. Honestly, I don’t think a late entry would be very much appreciated by voters. Why should they take up some Johnny Come Lately after slogging through the rogues gallery the GOP has presented so far?
Capehart sez the firing squad ended.
The Newt.
He’s baaacckk . . . just begging to be begged to step up “for the good of the party.”
New Poll out that will probably mark a change in every campaign:

79% of all americans- INCLUDING GOOPERS- say that we need to move away from anything BUSH>>>>
Goopers were banking on the fact that most goopers still give Clusterfuck a positive job approval rating- but it’s pretty clear from this poll that even goopers think he and his buddy Biggus Dickus- have fucked up badly…
Smoke em if ya got em- it’s now free season on Clusterfuck’s scrawny ass.

It’s late enough in the thread to go OT, Yes?

Dear Noron: black leather clashes with stoopid.
Alzheimers?
There is some new treatments that could possibly help Crazy John.

Does Jeff Gannon know this?
Noron sez three quarters of the uncommitted voters in Michigan would have voted for Barack.
Uncommitteds 73% Obama 17% Edwards in MI
Apparently Romney gave a victory speech- said that he was ready to believe in anything- or say he does- in order to become presidency. There is no matter so trivial or so grand that Mitt won’t lie about it for personal gain…..gooperism at it’s finest.
What, did the GOP think that Bush’s mid 20’s approval rating was a national figment of imagination? Idiots.
That’s why I’m not too worried about the Jebster.
From the crowd that hated ‘Slick Willie’. Time for the GOP to file for moral bankruptcy.

Enough fun and games for me, off to bed. Good night all!
Gnite Madmommy.
KO, just smack Tweety already…!
Well, when you think about it, it makes some sense that Clinton would only poll 3 percent of the people who voted uncommitted. Most of the people who “would have” voted for Clinton, actually did.
But those numbers don’t look good for Edwards.
Night madmommy. Don’t let the cajun butterflies bite.
Clusterfuck imperial liars now claim that Clusterfuck will be at 45% JAR before he leaves office….must be about to hand out some new kinda happy pills- or he’s eatin em himself.

I don’t think that Obama won the debate by any means – but I do think that he’s getting better at the whole thing…
At the beginning, Obama had to campaign to make up for his debate performances. Not so much any more – he’s pretty much holding his own – or at least coming a lot closer.
I don’t know. The DNC has sent their message to Michigan with the screwed up situation they have and maybe or maybe not the voters will retaliate toward Dingle. If they want to be really punish Michigan, not backing down, that’s what they would do. I don’t think they’d withold votes from Michigan precisely if things were close and critical and the votes were essential to the outcome. In other words, I don’t expect them to punish Michigan the way they’ve threatened to do when and if the chips are down at crunch time.
Sorry to be late to the party but I think I finally enjoyed watching a debate.
What Digby said:
edwards is probably fucked- and after tonight’s performance, I can see why. I voted for him- but now I wish I could change it. He wasn’t much good.
Clusterfuck imperial liars now claim that Clusterfuck will be at 45% JAR before he leaves office…
It’s a new kind of internal polling – they’re just gonna ask people who actually work *inside* the White House.
Still – 45% might be pushing it…
In a contest of who tried to look most like Bush, and voted the way Bush and corporate America, a major demographic of her doners Hillary does win there. I think people recognize that grain in her, and she’ll pay for it.

I only got to see about the last twenty minutes, I thought what I saw looked OK.
Tonight’s cake …. direct from Las Vegas
Hillary did the best job of attacking Clusterfuck- which is the fastest horse in the race.. A candidate right now can ride “The President it a Dumbshit” all the way to the White House-
She apparently noticed this first and acted on it….
Smart Chick!
India and China were meeting today.

Andrea Mitchell needs to eat a fuckin’ sammich.
She doesn’t look healthy.
Mrs. Greenspan’s hair appears to be having a bad night.
Nice one. Large slice, please.
No blasphemy, please.
Andrea suffers from dead dick poisoning- and “not breathing anymore” contamination.
which tier?
Clusterfuck doin a scimitar dance with a guy wearin his laundry on his head. Won’t go over well with the “base”.
Cannot stop laughing!
‘Parently those cocktail weenies aren’t so nutritious.
I thought Edwards did fine in this debate, although I’m not voting for him by absentee ballot tomorrow.
I don’t think debates have a damn thing to do with how these three would perform as President. Ever. They’re media ratings events, for legends in their own mind like Tweetie and Timmie, and particularly with the writers strike shoving prime shows off the air and 3rd rate reruns on.
Depends on what the dice are loaded with. If it’s rum, that’s mine.
Only if the woman doesn’t control the money.
Andrea Mitchell needs to eat a fuckin’ sammich.
She doesn’t look healthy.
She’ll be fine – I think that she and Natalie Morales split a tic-tac earlier…
I thought Edwards was better than ever. He toned down the anger and pulled both H and O a bit to the left, which is more than enough reason for him to stay in the race through the convention, imo.
Hillary was much more comfortable and pleasant to listen to.
Barack has the rich voice and seemed much less edgy.
I doubt anyone changed their minds tonight. Except rwcole, with post ballot regrets.
I agree with you that it is disappointing that they haven’t started carving Bush up more. There’s such ample material, and they could have gotten a lot more specific with Bush’s horrendous performance.
ok – I’m out.
Night all.

Ya ain’t sposed ta party with Mooslims if’n yer a gooper.
Nite you guys
The best thing I drew from tonight is that, love them or hate them, all 3 Dems are exponentially better potential Presidents than the Goopers offer. I like having at least this much pride in my party.

Agree—the dems outclass the goopers by a margin that approaches infinity as a limit.
Rachel up next on msnbc
Yep. And the numbers are overwhelming for Lefties now. They need to make this stick. There are ways, and tonight was a good start.
I think I’ve had enough for today myself, I got up too early this morning.
Y’all have a good night.
Despite the simple-minded racist view which requires that “we” be right and only English is acceptable there is also a big-picture perspective which is that having multiple languages can be very dangerous for a society. It becomes much harder to maintain integrity and the proper functioning of the nation as a whole.
It isn’t a simple question to tackle, despite the simple-minded answers that are available.
I thought Clinton & Obama still called for having combat troops inside Iraq, even after the ‘war’ was over.
Judging by my one trip to Ellis Island many years ago, immigrants to the U.S. didn’t learn the language but their children did. Don’t think anything different is going on now.
Wow! I like Wexler. Who is he?
Yeah, well it’s just politics and according to McCain it’s alright to fib in politics.
If my new-math skills are still good that 65% and 7% only add up to 72%. So, where did the other 28% come from? And, did those 7% all vote for Romnatron to give him the win?
Interesting that the Republicans outpolled Dems by over 300,000 in Michigan (853,241 vs. 561,886 w/ 97% counted). That’s just opposite of the earlier contested Primaries – so it could mean that Dems and Inds stayed at home out of boredom or jumped ship to vote in the Pug Primary.
It may be that folks simply didn’t reveal their affiliation if they thought that they were pranking the Republican results. But I did notice that over 30% of the exit pollers opposed the US being in Iraq and almost that were Union Members. 11% of the respondants were “liberals” so I would think that at least that crossed over to do ‘mischief’.
If all of those voted for Mitt, as suggested, Mitt would have lost by 3-4%. If they had voted for McCain it would have been an even greater loss. Only a 5% switch (5% less for Mitt, 5% more for McCain) would have given McCain the election. That’s only half of those that are acknowledged cross-overs!
LOL You working for NBC? or Hillary?
She also used that back in the late summer to early fall to avoid talking about issues with Obama or Edwards. It’s a way of avoiding the fight at hand and indicates a lack of connectedness with reality. It’s avoidance!
When I watched the civil discourse that masqueraded as a debate last night . . . but first thought was WOW! What 3 great candidates. Their differences were so minimal as to be almost indistinguishable . . . and we aligned with much of my belief system. A true win-win-win for all three candidates, despite Mr. Matthews’ attempt to frame the exercise as a WIN FOR HILLARY.
On further consideration, however, I have altered my view, and see this as a lose-lose-lose proposition for the contenders. Each of them had an opportunity to demonstrate how the abuse of corporate media power diminishes us all, limiting our exposure to only the candidates the corporate media defines as “potential winning candidates.” Had Obama, Clinton and Edwards, at the very last possible moment, departed from the venue to protest the exclusion of Kucinich and abuse of power, each would have garnered valuable media time as they explained their action; they would have truly stood up for the “voiceless” (both Kucinich and the American public); and they would have made a powerful statement that corporations have not yet attained absolute power. Instead, each apparently saw the additional face-time with the camera as more valuable than any statement they could have made about speaking truth to power.
