some people will never learn!

I don’t think anybody here is dense. It’s just like the media blackout on Kucinich or Edwards. If you don’t see it you can’t believe it still exists in this modern world.

But, when someone like Christy tells you it’s true you should listen and believe it.

Does the US have the option to do without further nuclear and coal?

We have to try. And, we have to develop clean technologies, regardless of what energy source.

Clinton wants windfall profits taxes for energy companies…

Sounds good. How is she gonna prevent them from passing the added cost (of lost profits) on to their customers?

Obama would end Yucca Mountain

Oh, and put the nuclear waste where?

Is that a new position for him? Is he trying to be creative since the nuclear issue came up in NH and is apropo for NV?

I lived Maine for five years and met quite a few who lived close to the edge and if they couldn’t hunt & fish they would go over the edge. By they were fine people and I made many friends with them.. Some just don’t understand being spoon fed all their lives!! You tell her Christy!

MrWhy — Having worked with a lot of impoverished folks in my legal practice, both doing criminal and abuse and neglect representation in private practice and then on the other side of things as a prosecutor, for some folks on the edge, it can be the difference between eating and going to bed starving. As can having a garden and canning the produce therefrom.

There are people who live hand to mouth far more than most folks in America realize. It is a quiet problem precisely because a whole host of people are too embarassed to admit how close to the edge they are really living. And, having worked so much with the children in these families, and seeing what malnutrition and other problems can do to those kids, yes, it can be very important for some folks. Very much so.

And it isn’t just in WV. It’s all over Appalachia, the Great Plains and the Rockies. Starvation in rural areas among the poor who have little to no job or education opportunities, and whose families are in a cycle of poverty is a huge problem…and one that gets far too little attention because they aren’t the folks who can afford to hire the likes of Jack Abramoff.

ban the word “homeland”…… this is a country.

I’ll say. It symbolizes how poorly Homeland Security and Chertoff have performed, and how their main priority has been on policies that take your liberty away and don’t protect you any better.

“Homeland” belongs where I first saw it, in Henrich Ibsen plays I had to read in grade school.

As a city-country person, I have nothing against hunting & my freezer demonstrates that. There’s got to be a way of distinguishing between those guns & guns used in crimes. But as usual, the Ds haven’t figured out how to frame it.

BTW how many shots does it take to bring a freezer down nowadays?
