Like I said last week, there is no political campaign coming up this winter that is more important than the race to replace Denny Hastert in Illinois’ 14th congressional district. The Republicans can be counted on to nominate a far right extremist. On February 5, Democrats are choosing between a real progressive fighter, John Laesch, and a puppet of the Insider special interests, a wealthy Rahm Emanuel shill named Bill Foster.
I got an insider tip that in a week or two John Laesch, who has been endorsed by virtually every Democratic Party county chair in the district — as opposed to the Washington Insider crowd looking to install Foster — is going to get a major Illinois endorsement. Today, however, he got two other endorsements. Late in December PDA, Progressive Democrats of America had endorsed him (unanimously). Today the campaign announced that the national PDA also endorsed John. It makes sense because he’s the progressive candidate in the race and the reactionary and Establishment forces in the Democratic Party have been trying to undercut him.
But the Noam Chomsky endorsement, which is logical, was certainly not expected by anyone.
Noam Chomsky was an unexpected and exciting endorsement for us. One of our volunteers, a big fan of Chomsky, took it upon himself to email him about the race and give him some information about John. We were very pleasently surprised to see that Chomsky responded, stating he would be "pleased to be listed as an endorser." We are pleased to add Chomsky to our growing list of progressive luminaries, including Studs Terkel, Barbara Ehrenreich, Dr. Quentin Young and Mike Malloy.
Perhaps this moves you to reach for your credit card and help John pull this off? Visit the Blue America ActBlue page.

Hello Howie, you always bring good news.
Noam Chomsky is for us a giant. He is a legend in his own time.
WOW ! Hope this helps John. Off to give a bit more….
Noam… an intelligent insightful historian. This means he is marginalized.
A toast to future Congressman Laesch!
That’s great news. Way to go Laesch — wish my sister was in his district instead of my fundie FIL.
Howie,
Has Prof. Chomsky endorsed a candidate in a Democratic Party primary before? This is certainly good news for Laesch.
Wow! John comes across as someone that would not have been supported by Chomsky. For him to endorse a former religious missionary, evangelical, and a Gulf War Veteran is mind-blowing. Maybe Noam is a lot more nuanced and open to PEOPLE with divergent views and experiences than he appears in his books. I’m gonna have to rethink Chomsky!
This is a big endorsement and means that they likely have had some very interesting conversations.
Hi. Jane just helped me remember my user name. It’s been so long!!
I was so blown away by Chomsky’s endorsement of John. It has a lot of gravitas– unlike when some hack pol endorses someone. Was everyone impressed when Ben Nelson came out for Obama. Laesch tells me he has a HUGE endorsement coming Wednesday– but the endorser wants to do it in person and doesn’t want any leakage. Rahm’s gonna blow a gassket.
Welcome back and thanks for bringing good news along!
Welcome back, Howie!
Welcome back, HK, and thanks for the good news.
“Rahm’s gonna blow a gassket.”
Hee, hee, hee…
Fixed it…
I’m so happy to be home! It was great being in Asia but… there’s no place like…
I’ve been talking with Hilda Solis’ office about her coming on the FDL for a special Blue America chat so we can discuss the progressive perspective on immigration reform. Emanuel is doing tremendous damage to Democrats by using the issue in his divisive way.
I’m going home to grade a really tough trig quiz I gave my kids this morning. I was sent to the principle’s office a couple of weeks ago for telling my classes to tell their parents to vote next November for the presidential candidate who is most friendly toward public education. My principle, who I adore, told me I was being too political. Wonder what he will have to say when I assign my students to read something that Mr. Chomsky has written and to bring their thoughts to class? For one thing, I will hear my boss asking what does Chomsky have to do with math? I have an answer for that.
Howie,
What about Bill Durston? He is running against Lungren.
Bill has a pretty good chance of unseating the bastard.
I should look into Durston better. By the way the DNC is taking votes for grassroots endorsements today. Donna Edwards was left off the list but John Laesch and most of the Blue America candidates are on it. You can vote here.
Wonderful news and for those who have not yet read Chomsky’s latest on line article here it is http://www.chomsky.info/articles/20080101.htm
Now that it looks more and more likely that we will end up with a gooperlite in the WH it is essential that we fill House of Representatives with progressives and the Senate with any Dems we can get.
OMG. That should be “principal”. Hey I don’t teach English.
Do you think Obama and Hillary know who Chomsky is?
Ah, but we know it’s the principles that you really care about. Don’t sweat it. And thanks for caring about the kids.
I suppose the word problems that go something like this would be a bit much for your principal: “John Laesch received 53% of the votes cast, and his GOP opponent received 47%. If 57,249 people cast votes in the election, how many votes would the GOP have to steal in order to win?”
Another high ranking GOP slimebag bit the dust today. Mike Carona
iswas the Sheriff of Orange County and every bit as corrupt as you would expect a Republican sheriff or Orange County to be. He was indicted in October and finally resigned today. I sure hope this helps Ron Shepston in his congressional bid. Even Republican voters are getting sick of all this corruption.Howie — I would LOVE to hear Hilda’s take on all of that. Fantastic idea, and I hope she is able to do it. Thanks so much (for that, and ALL of your effort on Blue America. So good to have you home.)
Beware of spewing snake oil
Obama definitely knows who Chomsky is and I bet Clinton does too. Both of these people are well-read and intelligent. We’re not dealing on a Bush level here. In fact, whenever I get a little down about the Democratic hopefuls for president, all I have to do is think about Bush and the current crop of pathetic pygmies and Hillary and Obama start looking really good.
How is the polling in this race? A Dennis has a suburban district the fundies can only win if turnout is low. But if voter turnout is high because of a polarizing election then a lot of probusiness Republicans will come out to vote and they might like Rahm’s guy.
Lots of people in the burbs drive SUVs though and they hate paying higher prices for gas. That would be the edge issue I would use.
You need a picture of the mistress Gossip does sell.
Good question. I just John’s campaign a note and asked if someone can pop on here and answer it. I think the primary looks good for John and the Blue Dog’s going to go down… hard. John has built up tremendous good will locally.
Chomsky’s endorsement is all it takes for me to get out the credit card.
Thanks! That’s the spirit! I’m hoping we can send a good message today!!!
And Pat Tillman was fond of Chomsky’s writings. I think Tillman and Chomsky were planning to meet before Tillman was
assassinatedkilled. It’s been exciting to see all the old and tired storylines about Liberals being busted up in recent years.
Hi kiddo,
Re:
The real question is whether or not they’d admit to knowing him. Probably not, would be my guess.
Dear Goddess in Burma.. Thank you for sending Howie home! *s* Blue America is a major part of my balanced soul food diet and I was really suffering withdrawals.
Welcome home, Howie.
Now, off to vote in the DFA poll..
If in fact they know who Chomsky is, they certainly don’t appear to pay much attention to him. Now do they? And as to both of these individuals being intelligent? I might take issue with that. Actually, no “might” about it. I will take issue with that conclusion. Some argue that education and being “well read” does not necessarily indicate wisdom.
Done.
Since Chomsky has been mentioned, perhaps the words of his friend and fellow ‘giant’, Howard Zinn, who actually is an historian, might have some interest for those here gathered.
‘The people who control wealth and power today do not want any real changes in the system.’
…’Tinkering with voting procedures … may be a bit helpful. But still, in a society so unequal in wealth, the rich will dominate any procedure. It will take fundamental changes in the economic system and in the distribution of wealth to create an atmosphere in which councils of people in workplaces and neighborhoods can meet and talk and make something approximating democratic decisions.’
…’What has worked in history has been DIRECT ACTION by people engaged together, sacrificing, risking together, in a worthwhile cause.’
‘Those who have had the experience know that. unlike the puny act of voting, being with others in a great movement for social justice not only makes democracy come alive – it makes the people engaged in it come alive. It is satisfying, it is pleasurable. Change is difficult, but if it comes, that will most likely be the way.’
The above is from Zinn’s book ‘Declarations of Independence’.
My question: Are we there yet?
I wonder if she can convince the Dems to spend more on Spanish Media to get the word out to vote. Well first she has to shut Rahm up first.
If we can get the Hispanic vote then we can win big in many Western States and places like Illinois, Texas, California etc.
Last election the Immigrant bashing GOPers didn’t do so well so just why is Rahm pushing a plan that failed our enemies last time?
Sure I could say that Rahm is wrong or crazy but there are other Democrats backing his plans in the shadows. Are they all wrong or crazy or are they Racists?
I don’t care what the reason is either Rahm makes this right or we will have to deal with him.
I believe that HRC and Obama have not removed bombing Iran from the table. What does Mr. Chomsky have to say about bombing Iran?
Welcome home, Howie.
Got a big surprise in the mail today – state tax refund from 2003!! Huh, wonder if they paid interest? *g* I’m happy to share some of it with John.
Hi back attcha. ;0)
geez they must have sent it pony express. Happy for you.
Your right suburban people hate to vote I don’t think that they will cross party lines to vote for Rahm’s guy. The Fundies might but the local mega churches (Willow Creek) are not Fundi churches I don’t think they have the numbers there.
The corporate wing of the GOP runs nearby McHenry County I think they run Dennis’s district too.
Amazing!!! I just got a call from Fidelity telling me that a class action suit against AOLTimeWarner I had gotten involved with, came through and that they have a check for me! I’m blown away. It’s even better than a tax refund because it comes out of the hide of a big corporation.
I think in Illinois, Republicans have to vote in Republican primaries and Democrats vote in Democratic primaries. There’s no crossing over. And the Republicans have a lively primary as well, with a bunch of loons attacking each other viciously.
I’d love to see HRC and Obama debate Chomsky.
I thought you were talking about a Congressional primary and not the Presidential primary? Oh wait, you mean it’s happening at more than one level of the R party?
Never mind
How about Mitt Romney or Huckleberry or McCain? Giuliani? Wouldn’t that be even funnier?
The burbs are all about privacy and dignity/ignoring people an unseemly display by GOP Loonies will hurt GOP turnout a lot more than anything we can do.
Nobody wants to associated with crazy people, the neighbors would talk.
Perhaps.

“The corporate wing of the GOP runs nearby McHenry County…”
Doesn’t it run the Democratic Party too? And why aren’t people wakin’ up to how right wing Barak O’Lieberman is…JEEzus, Ben Nelson??!! Good God!!!
KEEP THE FAITH, THAT’S ALL WE GOT LEFT!!
You go kiddo, the kids need a good grounding in progressive politics and you know what I think about the principle…. I let you fill in the blanks:>)
Howie,
Since the NH primary, discussions here on the Dem Prez candidates here have gotten, well, uh, testy at times. A few commenters have even expressed total dismay at the grousing, saying they’re just going to go away for awhile.
I predicted a while ago that if fdl gets too enmeshed in thrashing out the differences among this fairly excellent field of Democratic Party challengers, that there would be whining and sniping amongst partisans. I’ve also stressed that the most good liberal political blogs like fdl can do for 2008, is to concentrate on the US House, where our efforts and money can make a big difference. Your blog – dwt – is an excellent example of how that dynamic works.
Do you have any thoughts on this at this time?
Spending more on Spanish media is a great idea.
Whenever I spotlight a post here and send it to various papers and radio/TV stations, I always include the Spanish language ones. They reach a ton of people.
OOOps that should have been to kiddo
n response to Howie Klein @ 16

Citizen Klein:
I hope yer right about the closed primary situation in Illinois, maybe some real progressives have a chance against the Daley-Emmanuel-DLC machine…but I’m more worried about what happens to the DNC and the national party machinery if the DLC corporatists win the White House with O’Lieberman or Mrs. Clinton. And what happens to the Congressional leadership under either of ‘em…is it possible to get even more reactionary leadership than we have now?
KEEP THE FAITH AND PASS THE AMMUNITION…THEY’RE ALL OVER THE FUCKIN PLACE!!
Lahoma told me last night: Where’s the Norske? She reads all of our comments and of course the posts. She is my editor in chief. ;0)
That’s pretty much how I’ve felt all along. Blue America won’t be endorsing anyone in the Democratic primary (although DWT endorsed Edwards). I did a story a few days ago about how I was more interested in the primaries in February for John Laesch, Donna Edwards, Mark Pera and Randi Scheurer than about the presidential primaries.
You are correct.
You have to declare party affiliation at registration.
I am not certain how easy it is to switch
;0) Lord help us. ;0)
More reactionary leadership in Congress than now? Well, I suppose Pelosi could resign and we’d wind up with Hoyer as Speaker and Emanuel as Majority Leader. Can’t imagine anything worse; it would be almost as bad as Hastert and Delay!!!!
Oh,
and Things…
You are correct. Rahm must be gone.
I intend to do my small part in uducating the 30% of his constuency that he thinks they do not vote.
I think he will be surprised.
Absolutely. There are many races on all levels that need our support and hard work. We need to be thinking from “the ground up.”
Wealthy shills family history:
Bill’s father was trained as a chemist but spent much of his career as a civil rights lawyer. He wrote much of the enforcement code (federal regulations) behind the Civil Rights Act of 1964 – the part that denied federal funds to school systems that refused to let black and white kids go to the same school. Bill’s mother worked in the office of Illinois Senator Paul H. Douglas, which is where she met Bill’s father. His mom came from a long line of inventors, but worked in her career to help law enforcement officers get college degrees, and to help college students become cops.
No way to primary Rahm is there? Too late? ANYONE possible in the pipe to flush Rahm?
The Illinois 14th Congressional District isn’t quite as grotesque as some of the Texas gerrymandering, but there are some facts of life to be noted nonetheless.
Here’s a map.
I grew up in the Ill. 16th CD, and my sister lives near Dekalb. What is most important to understand about this district is that it is transitioning in its eastern counties due to urban sprawl. Lots of exurb McMansions have been built in the past decade in the belt that is 40-60 miles from downtown Chicago. Almost all of these new residents would be categorized as GOP-leaning conservatives. Further to the West are a lot of relatively sparsely populated agricultural areas that have traditionally voted the GOP ticket for generations. Democratic Party strength tends to occur in urban centers such as Dekalb, home of Northern Illinois University, and to a lesser degree in formerly heavily unionized towns such as Aurora, Elgin, Sterling and Dixon. Much of the manufacturing in these cities has been devastated by NAFTA and the rise of China as the world’s workshop.
Looking back at 2006, we find that on November 7, Laesch lost in his bid to unseat Hastert, with Hastert winning 59.75% to Laesch’s 40.25%
I don’t want to be too discouraging about Mr. Laesch’s prospects, but it strikes me that demographics are determinative of most of our politics, and that’s why gerrymandering has been so devastating to a healthy renewal of Congress by means of maintaining competitive districts. My judgment would be that the IL-14 fails this competitiveness test. In comparison, progressive Cindy Cegelis came within within 12% (56% vs. 44%) against arch-conservatie Henry Hyde in the adjoining IL-6 CD, despite being outspent by 4-1. In 2006 Cegelis was betrayed by Rahm Emanuel and Emanuel’s hand picked candidate eventually lost the seat to the GOP.
Conclusion: Laesch faces two uphill battles. First against Emanuel and the Dem Party insider coalition and secondly an uphill battle against the demographics of his District.
Blue America is working on that too. We hope to have an opponent for him in 2 years.
Meanwhile, John Laesch would immediately seek to make the Progressive Caucus in Congress into a powerhouse with some real clout. If he’s elected, he’ll change the dynamics in Congress like NO OTHER FRESHMAN EVER HAS. That’s why I think his race is the most important one in the whole country.
Howie, are you thinking about Blue America getting involved in the North Carolina Democratic Senate primary between out gay Jim Neal and Kay Hagan? Pam’s got encouraging poll numbers (from December) for both of them against Do-Nothing Dole.
Speaking for myself only of course, I’d love to replace Nancy, Harry, Obama and Hillary with some actual progressives.
Hillary, Obama, Nancy, and Harry. Had enough?
1,726 DAYZ AND THE KILLIN’ GOEZ ON AND ON AND…
Citizen Kiddo and the Firepup Freedom Fighters:
I been on field exercises in Negril, Jamaica over the holidays under the command of Mrs. Norske…it’s taken me 2 weeks ta recover and I work nights – jeezus I’m too old fer this stuff. Say hello ta the good lookin’ one in yer household. (By the way, my oldest daughter jest started teachin’ high school math in the inner city and she loves it…who’d a thunk it?)
KEEP THE FAITH AND PASS THE AMMUNITION FASCISM NEVER SLEEPS
Word. It is not simply “more Dems”. It is supposed to be “More better Dems”. Better to feel a little pain now by scraping away the barnacles (to mix metaphors…or is it phosphors?) than to carry that baggage while also trying to dilute their poison with actual GOOD Dems.
Eject the DINOs wholesale.
I want to and I’ve been writing about Jim at DWT a bit. We spoke on the phone. I need to do more research on him and see how the other Blue America principles feel about the race. Pam did another interview with him this weekend and it was good. I left a comment on her blog that I thought they were being too optimistic about the demographics… but I would love to help Jim win there.
Good for her (your daughter).
lahoma
There’s hope in the race against Dole. She really screwed up on a big issue these past few years, i.e. a Navy carrier landing practice field in the middle of eastern NC’s Pea Island Wildlife Refuge (think tundra swans competing with FA-18s).
Dole held her town meeting on the topic in Charlotte! The entire debacle made her seem to be toadying to Warner, the state of Virginia’s interests and the DC establishment.
This is but one example. People are furious with her across the state. She’s ripe for the pickin’.
I’m over the “more” part. Let the DCCC worry about that. For me, personally, it’s ONLY about the “better” now.
In Illinois the guy who took Mike Ryoko’s job calls the Democrats and the Republicans the conglomerate I believe. They cooperate to run the government/steal everything they can.
But after one Chicago Mayor did not get the snow cleaned up in the African American neighborhoods in the 70’s and lost to a Woman.
The Dems and GOP realized that if a government fails to provide a service voters expect then voters will kick them out.
Happy voters though will vote for crooks.
Dems will make gestures toward the poor the Corporate wing of the GOP party in Mchenry though are to the right of Darth on economics, the war etc.
They just don’t like to cause a scene because people would talk. Also I think they drink more per capita than any other county in Illinois. BUt unlike poor people they can afford lawyers.
You mean like Keystone Kops funny?
‘Jus’ who was that masked nuance, anyway?’
‘That man is talkin’ circles ’round us, boss …’
‘This here town ain’t big enuff fur us and da likes of you, ya tinhorn
smart-talkin’ perfesser!’
Nope, too much like shooting fish in a beer keg.
I think Obama and Clinton, if they cared could find Noam quite easily up there at MIT, so, nope! that’s not gonna happen either. But that one I WOULD enjoy. Chomsky, whom I’ve met and seen in action many times would politely make mince-meat of the ‘dynamic duo’ benefitting all who care about language and substance.
I would expect the ‘exciting’ Hillary and the ‘charming’ Barack to make a very wide cirlce, indeed, around the likes of Chomsky.
We could add that to the list of their ‘profiles in discourage’ but I doubt that they give a fig what we think. Afterall, as Pelosi so eloquently put it, ‘We are the learders you are the ————!’
I just got an e-mail from John Laesch. He wants to come on now and answer some questions. He’s looking for his password
We (lahoma and i) are very unfond of blue doggies. We like yellow dogs particularly.
Do they respond? Is there any numbers on newsmedia response to the posts? This could give us hard numbers on our impact on the election!
OT
This must have been a tough weekend for John & EE.
http://www.wral.com/news/news_…..y/2299271/
Glad this was no worse and that Cate is OK.
As someone who lived in North Carolina out and gay in the 1980s, I found pretty amazing acceptance among the establishment. We were in Orange County, but not Chapel Hill. It was not the most enlightened part of the state, nor was it the least. Perhaps things have gotten better; I’d be surprised if having seven Fortune 100 companies hasn’t liberalled-up Charlotte a bit.
But there seems to be a lot of optimism about Jim Neal. Perhaps it’s more than starry-eyed optimism.
I grew up in the 6th and I thought Illinois Politics were stinky till I moved to Georgia. Talk about gerrymandering. . .sheeeeeet.
I have to say my ears perked up at that!
Norske very good to ’see’ you again and your daughter is obviously in the ‘right place at the right time’.
Welcome back!!!
Quality over quanity. That’s it! We in this house are trying to keep our eyes on the prize. Vote Democratic next November. That’s what we two think.
Things have changed a lot …even in rural NC. Don’t get me wrong, there’s still homophobia. However the changes in our culture have enabled a lot of native sons and daughters to come out. Hard to be as prejudiced, closeminded when that happens. And you’re right Teddy, the corporate presence plus homegrown businesses, like Replacements, have made a big difference.
My mother’s family home was recently bought by a gay cinematographer from SoCal. My grandfather would not have been OK with that but his descendants are thrilled.
Re:
Perhaps in small ways in unique places. But as a nation, we are becoming ever increasingly more atomized.
The rich have their influential K Street army marching up the Capitol Hill steps every day. CodePINK has their women’s army getting frog marched down the Capitol Hill steps on a regular basis. It’s good theater, but we aren’t the ones sitting as witnesses in the Congressional committee hearings where legislation is ground into sausage.
The Right has a profoundly powerful tool in its think tanks. ALEC, the American Legislative Exchange helps write legislation at the national, state and local level. Grotesquely, you will often find legislation that is accepted word-for-word by harried legislators who are grateful to ALEC for writing the bills. Similarly, and perhaps more profoundly, the AEI, American Enterprise Institute, has the ear of the White House and is exceptionally powerful in setting the national agenda.
Progresssives have a handful of organizations that aren’t nearly as well connected or as wealthy as those on the Right. Funding is, of course, a huge problem. I’m disappointed that some of the vast amounts spent by unions on campaign contributions that turned into non-productive TV ads isn’t more wisely invested in creating a progressive infrastructure. But then the problem there is that most prosperous unions always tend toward reactionary politics as they achieve success.
Citing Noam Chomsky and Howard Zinn are good things, don’t get me wrong, but in the case of CDs like the IL-14, citing these “godless commies” is equally likely to result in a backlash as it is to elict good feelings about your candidate.
Welcome back, Howie. Is there any way to donate to Blue America using PayPal?
No, but you can always send a check to our P.O. Box:

Thanks for asking
How much support does the GOP guy have. How much cash, who is giving, and is the state GOP really behind this guy or just going through the moves like they did when Alan Keyes ran.
What seem to be the issues people are most concerned about both on a local and national level.
Also just how bad does the GOP have to F$#^ up before the Chicago Tribune will endorse Democrats?
Are the Tribs new owners giving better coverage.
Re:
That’s interesting. Would there be any place to find statistics on this?
LOL! Ray the ‘core’ of the mindless have been with us since before this nation became a nation and frankly I think that the more people who are exposed to Chomsky and Zinn the better.
I know that you are not afraid of being called names and the measure I have of you is not as a writer who considers himself a member of ‘a threatened species’ but one who would prefer ‘to threaten’.
I say make ‘em squirm and hit them with the facts and all the nuance you can muster.
Let us not nambly pambly mumble off. Get in their faces!
Enough! I don’t give a damn what timid or bought little minds may snigger or bray about. And neither, my friend do you.
Look right under the post, you should see Share This and Spotlight. You click on Spotlight and go through it, sending it to whatever regional or national media you choose. I personally have never gotten a response, but I don’t think they’d write to me. I just want them to read the post and encourage them to report on the story/stories.
I don’t know if it makes a difference. I just encourage them to be the press that our founding fathers wanted for us to have, so that we can be an informed populace and hold on to our liberty.
Sometimes that is all we can do. Still I think that its effective too many stories get banged out here for weeks and then it seems the MSM decides to pay attention if we yell enough.
I was just hoping for numbers oh well:)
LOL! Ray my measure of you is that as a writer you choose not to be a member of a ‘threatened species’ but rather would ‘threaten’.
Let us not let little or bought minds make us nambly pambly.
I say get in their faces, the more people who know about Chomsky and Zinn the better.
Frankly, my friend, I don’t give a damn about the commie scare mongers, their day is soon done but only if we insist upon it and stand up (as I know that you do) everyday and say ‘This is what I think.’ If the only response they can muster is a tired old boogey man, then they are already in retreat.
Ray, don’t you enjoy giving ‘them’ hell every once and a while?
I doubt that it’s the new owners yet, but this morning’s Trib had the full Harris/VandeHei mea culpa from Politico on its op-ed page this morning. Not that Politico is liberal, but reprinting that is a start, I guess.
http://www.politico.com/news/s…../7822.html
Now back to the pile on my desk…
Gee, Ray, I thought my first response had disappeared into the ether.
A newspaper article I read a few years ago back when I still lived there. I don’t know the current numbers. Still Booze sales in the county if you can find those numbers cross checked with population of Illinois counties might work.
Thanks, but I’ll never get around to it. Why not set up a PayPal account; you might find that quickie impulse donations from procrastinators like me would add up!
Froomkin today discusses a very long article on DNI Mike McConnell that should be up at the New Yorker in the next few days. Shorter version: McConnell is a lying sack of shit and a thug. This is a view I have long held. No one should ever believe or trust anything that man says ever.
DW,
I’m about to found a “newspaper”(sic). Our masthead will incorporate the words of Garrison Keillor:
“Satire, kiddies. It’s your sacred duty, poke those sacred cows and make ‘em moo!”
Do keep me posted.
I thought ya was a moover and a shaker-upper from da foist tyme ah done seen yer efforts here-upon.
I jus knew ya wasn’t easily cowed.
Lake Woebegones be Woebegone!!
Up with Keillor! Up with Chomsky! Up with Zinn!
We all know what’s happenin!!
Hi Howie, I think John has a good chance on this second run. He made a good impression the first time and it has only gotten worse for Republicans in IL14 with a slimmer, richer, healthy Hastert DESERTING them to lobby early with his two sons.
The Hastert real estate Scandal was not lost on IL14, they hate Congressional Pork payola. I think those farmers and suburban voters have totally HAD ENOUGH of the old Republican party. Oberweis and Lauzen are going to tear each other to shreds in the Republican primary and I think the alienated Republican will vote for John Laesch. He is also the only veteran running in the race, and I believe his brother just came back from Iraq. IL14 LOVES vets and hates optional wars hyped on bogus intelligence.
Hello all! This is Kristen Lash, the Blog Team Coordinator for John’s campaign.
I don’t know if anyone is still watching this. Sorry I’m so late on the game, I had to work this afternoon. I just wanted to stop by and give a HUGE thanks to Howie for this blog and for all that he does. I also wanted to say thank you to all the commenters for your kind comments and donations. We are ready for February 5th and beyond, and I know John is ready to fight for us and make us all proud in Congress.
Thanks again,

Wow! I had no idea. Thanks for telling us. If we had to wait on the MSM to inform us we’d all die first.
So, who is in the race on the Dem side that might upset her?
After a long day of campaigning, I am finally dropping in to say hello.
Thanks for all of your support and thanks to Jane and Howie for getting this up. We have more exciting endorsements from Democratic leaders coming in the near future.
Call the office (630.801.8900) or go to the website (www.john08.com) to sign up to volunteer.
Take care,
John
Hi John,
Good luck with the election. I’ll be sure to call my sis and brother-in-law in Sycamore and ask them to support you. :)
Hiya John!
Good luck to you and hello to Jen. Hoping for the best of all possible outcomes — a WIN!
Evening John!
With you in this.
