Dan Froomkin raises an important question — if the Democratic frontrunners all want to be considered agents of change, what exactly are they doing to change anything?
[R]eporters should be asking them a simple question: What kind of leadership are you showing right now? Why should we believe you have great leadership ability if you’re not showing any on critical issues currently facing Congress and the nation?
By contrast to the Republican presidential candidates who talk as if President Bush doesn’t exist (see my recent piece for NiemanWatchdog.org, Rating Bush on a scale of 1 to 10), the Democrats talk about him a lot. But they act as if he wasn’t still very much in charge, still ramming legislation through Congress to fund his war in Iraq and generally subvert other key Democratic goals.
It’s understandable that the presidential candidates themselves want to focus on what they would do once elected. And sure, being president is awfully different than being just one member of a political party whose majority, at least in the Senate, is tenuous. But to the extent that part of their promise to the American people is that they will be strong leaders, that they will have the courage of their convictions, and that they will reach across party lines and build working political coalitions – why shouldn’t journalists ask for evidence in the here and now?
Very good questions, Dan, I’m glad you asked them. If Hillary Clinton does want to stand up to George Bush, why doesn’t she go back to Washington DC and do it? The opportunities are multitudinal. And if Barack Obama wants to get Republicans to reach across the aisle and join with Democrats to carve out important legislation, why doesn’t he shut down the nay-sayers by doing so now? What’s stopping him? John Edwards doesn’t hold elected office at the moment so he doesn’t have the same number of opportunities, but he could certainly lead an anti-war demonstration. A march on the White House would be nice.
The point is — campaign promises are a dime a dozen. If these people all want to be "agents of change," they’ve got the spotlight and the power at the moment to do so.
In common parlance — "put up or shut up."

Jane! Now!
here’s the first thing they can do to be an agent of change;
bring those that committed crimes against this country and her constitution to the bar of justice
that will be the first step to reclaiming our integrity
Wow. Two zeds in one day. Still far off the record, though.
I totally agree. Do. Something. Now. This is exactly what I told the Hillary people who asked.
Maybe now that Hillary has found her voice, she will use it?? Or maybe not.
It’s the pure life.
*g*
As in CLOSE GUANTANAMO NOW!
Talk is cheap. It seems as though only Cris Dodd is capable of putting words into action. Now, that’s a real leader.
Excellent suggestion.
In truth we need the presidency and Congress to be able to do this. But equally importantly with the way that Congressional budgeting has been transformed in the last 3 decades (look at the HUGE increase in lobbyiests since Mills left) we are stuck in a system defined largely by big corporations. To change that we need to change congress, or start changes in the states for the same.
Plus, one can say what one wants about campaign promises, but Bush essentially promised the evangels he would deliver on the supreme court, and corporations he would deliver on big bucks, and the wealthy 2 percent that he would deliver on tax cuts and he did all three.
Plus, elections are a form of war. I haven’t gone downstairs yet to see if anyone responded to me on the Lawrence O’Donnell business (as Hillary’s race baiting) but this is part of that whole mess, and Hillary (and Bill – remember the viciousness of Carville?) are very good at dishing if it suits their purposes – either themselves, or here (also for ex. Cuomo) in having surrogates do it for them.
here’s something practical that they can do to show that they are agents of change….
Endorse, and help raise money for Donna Edwards, Randi Scheuer, Gretchen Clearwater and other progressives running in primaries against BlueDog Democrats — and do the same for progressives running against “traditional” democrats in primaries for open seats, or seats held by Republicans).
NOTHING says change like taking on the entrenched interests in your own party — and if Edwards had any sense, he’d be leading the pack on this.
Lovely thought. Action now
Start by introducing some progessive legislation to the senate floor.
Also back some resolutions to stop the bloody war and the escalation policy that may get us all killed
bush had the NERVE to claim he would have bombed Auschwitz
I’m wearing orange
You’ve been right on the money a couple of times on this subject Jane. I wish somebody would listen – besides your devoted firepups.
I do totally agree with Froomkin (and I knew somehow he’d get sucked into campaign issues, as much as he tries to only cover the current White House). Totally agree.
But just to play devil’s advocate, it’s hard to see how the candidates can try to craft compromises and shit like that when they’re campaigning nonstop. There are only so many hours in the day. And given how obstructionist the Pubes have been, they’re probably figuring waiting until after Nov. 08 means they’ll have more Dems in Congress (which they will) and legislative compromises will go more their way.
Where’s the orange? I only see it on Caltrans workers. Guess I have to do this by myself, again. I am so glad you are all here or I’d think I was living in a vacuum with me, myself and I.
Hi all
I was thinking about this last night. Why should we support either front runner if they stay away while Bush is stealing the rest of our country.
And on a similar note… There should be signs and protests against both of them to support Dodd. Its a time where protests count when they are running their multi-million $$ campaigns.
Sara over at last hurrah had a nice explanation of how party politics works over at Marcy’s old site. I have never considered what hoops dems have tp gp through. Is there a way to permeate that caucus/party good ol boy/girl system and inject these goals. The California liberal dems have a convention of their own where more progressive goals are disscussed. It seems to be about comfort levels of the ruling class of the party.
1968 Daley was ushered of of the convemtion floor in Chicago while peace movement was outside getting clubbed by his troops and tear gassed. It took a lonf time to stop the war. Afterwards we here were sorry it was all a mistake.
How does one get into the control room? No free press. Is it the streets again?
As in publicly drawing the analogy between the Hormuz kerfuffle and the Tonkin hoax NOW, before Bush starts another war.
Thanks for mentioning this. I bring it up constantly whenever anyone mentions the senators. It was one of the reasons I found myself backing Dodd. Neither Obama or Clinton has done much leading the past couple of years. They seem to wait until it has been safely proven by others that a particular position is popular and non-controversial before they act.
That’s not what I’m looking for in a candidate.
Bush loves to talk like a toughguy. Of course, he never puts himself on the line. In fact, the whole family has been that way since WWII.
Lead, follow or get out of the way are the unofficial road rules on our narrow, curvy mountain roads.
Amen.
Leadership outside of Congress? Edwards has twice interrupted his campaign to stand with striking writers and show his support of unions–once on the west coast and once in NY–and he also interrupted his campaign for 3 days for a “poverty tour” (you know, that voter issue that no one is supposed to care about). John began his campaign in New Orleans, deliberately calling attention to a city that our legislators seems to have forgotten. John stood up to the CBC’s attempt to have a debate on FOX, pointedly saying that FOX couldn’t seriously be considered as anything but a Republican propaganda channel. All in all, I’d say he’s the only one besides Chris Dodd who’s shown any leadership, and that’s one of the reasons I’m voting for him.
O.J. Simpson is in custody in Florida! Suspend all reporting on other news! May as well suspend all campaigns since they’re not going to be covered for a while.
Bush said that he’d be the candidate of change if he was running but he probably meant chump change.
This business about change is empty rhetoric by Hillary & Obama. Don’t know about Edwards. Hope it isn’t anyhow.
sounds good to me, I’m right behind you :)
Only democratic candidate, Dennis Kucinich, would change anything.
All the other democratic candidates are owned by Wall Street.
Only Dennis, bless his heart, is not addicted to the status quo.
I am really getting depressed watching what is going on in the Democratic Party.
I am back to thinking that the Republic is in it’s dying days.

“…if Barack Obama wants to get Republicans to reach across the aisle and join with Democrats to carve out important legislation, why doesn’t he shut down the nay-sayers by doing so now? What’s stopping him?”
Because in his heart of hearts he knows this post-partisan talk is all Bullsh*t?
I agree Jane, it’s time to put up or shut up. Or how my Dad used to put it, “sh*t or get off the pot”
A very good place to start for Hillary and Barack would be to sign on with Chris Dodd and publicly, and collegially, but very forcefully call out Harry Reid for his pushing FISA

Hi QuakerGirl
I’m coming up the hill tomorrow to canvass for Edwards
If you haven’t read the US is now claiming that shot were fired at Iranians in an earlier incident.
We have the reports of the Iranians ‘dropping boxes’ into the ocean.
So, anyone wanna guess who’s gonna get the blame when a US ship hits a mine in the Persian Gulf?
Anyone wanna guess how many Democratic candidates will fall over themselves screaming for a ‘harsh response’ to such an ‘attack’?
-G
not sure I’m ready to give up on the Republic, but I sure am frustrated and depressed like you are. *futile scream*
Yes, the table has been set for a “Gulf of Tonkin” incident.
JFK never did anything either when he was in the Senate, except preen and get himself ready for the big run. LBJ, on the other hand …
Yes that is very doable too. Not a major request at all. The litmus teat to see if they support they fascist corporate lobby.
Read this story.
Sorry for the link to Drudge crony Brietbart.
Read the Admirals comments.
I am coming at you.
-G
Yes, it should be the last days of the Republic Party. Instead we have Democratic leadership that seems determined to allow the Republics to quickly rise again from the ashes of Bush.
their “jobs” now are essentially running for president. they are not senators for the next year. showing “change” in the record is valid. but for “now” … i say the important questions should be about how they are running their campaign. is the campaign throwing fear … or changing that tune.
But JFK did inspire, no small thing.
Which candidate inspires us now?
*futile scream*
One can only hope.
…was Eisenhower’s boy, Brown&Root’s boy, and J. Edgar Hoover’s boy
in the US Senate.
!!VIGAH!!
ASK WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR COUNTRY
The Mr. President Song by MM
Bobby was my Man in the Kennedy clan he fought the Southerm establihment for equal right he was truly a BRAVE AMERICAN
Agents of change don’t vote for the status quo!
And by the way, agents of change vote (I’m looking at you, Barak).
He was a great American.
we wuz robbed, sorely and sadly.
You’re not alone, QuakerGirl:
Worldwide Protests Mark 6th Anniversary of Guantanamo Bay
Or here in L.A. either. No pix until later today, but I’ve seen quite a few orange-wearing folks, & freeway signs saying “Close Gitmo” & “Gitmo is National Disgrace.”
What’s wrong with now?
Well, right now neither Barack nor Hillary have the clout of the White House, or a mandate from the American people. Instead they are just 1 of 100 US Senators, with a Republican President who will veto anything good that they might put together.
FWIW.
Bravo, Jane. If not now, when?
I’m going to point out that in the wake of Katrina, one of these three candidates actually did go to NOLA and actually did work to help the victims. My African-American friend pointed this out at the time and said he wasn’t voting for the other two because of this key difference.
In hindsight, I wonder whether the first primary shouldn’t have been held in Louisiana.
Actually, there’s alot Edwards could do. Tell people not to drive on MLK’s birthday for example. Or to use that day to do something good for others –like cleaning up trash on the highway or visiting a nursing home or …
Is that too Pollyanna?
“All hat and no cattle” as has been said of our Deal Leader. Only Edwards may kick some butt. Obama troubles me due to his Chicago roots (Daly machine & ward politics/corruption) and his touchy/feeliness, no substance, while Clinton will be status quo & ship more jobs overseas.
OT, and I’m sorry if I’m repeating something that has already been noted, but Bowers notes the WSJ editorial pretty much declaring Telecom immunity dead for now.
Is the Gigot/Murdoch editorial page to be believed on this? Even if it doesn’t call for a party, maybe I’ll raise a glass of Prosecco in celebration.
Perhaps you wondered why the RNC types were so thrilled about Obama. The dirt is starting to make its way to the surface: http://www.dailykos.com/story/…..7/6/435272
How are they suppose to get anything done while they are raking in cash and campaigning?
Making empty promises is hard work.
/snark
Here’s doing something
they need to establish their intentions and they need the their votes recorded, they need to stand by their claims
the movement doesn’t begin till people make their stand and it doesn’t gain momentum with people waiting around a year for an election
this president has succeeded in presenting an excuse for the next president to continue our occupation of Iraq
we need to make it clear he has no excuse, we need the votes now
Way too petty. I would surely hope that Edwards wouldn’t waste his time with stuff like that.
He’s been to NOLA and on WGA picket lines and rallies. Those are actions of substance that also are in line with the values he is running on.
Hillary might be convinced to do that if it can be presented in a triangulating way.
I think that’s a good example. I do not want a Senator who votes present. I do not want a senator who delays his or her vote until the outcome of the vote on legislation is already determined and his/her vote no longer matters one way or the other.
I want someone who LEADS on issues and shows up for votes and votes early to show where he or she stands.
And yes, Edwards could get out there an lead a protest march
Jane you are so right
Great post
I think members of congress should be looking at the new registrations Democratic turnout and thinking why aren’t I an agent of change.
I totally agree why do we have to wait until January
Or the Senate can demand a special investigation into destruction of the CIA tapes? (ACLU Action.) Support the fight against telcom warrants and basket immunity (I doubt Obama will honor Ned Lamont if that was in the deal.) or demand the shut down of Gitmo. So far only Dodd has actually taken any action with FISA.
DLC dishes Edwards, declares it a two person race…
after one primary????
fuck them with a rusty shovel.
http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes…..wards-out/
Sh*t I totally forgot today was orange jumpsuit day.
Nonsense. All of them have a bully pulpit and scores of newsies following them around. If either of them were to stand up on the floor of the senate and say that FISA “reform” is dead and they will see to it that it expires and reverts back to the original law—which happens to actually support the rule of law—they would have a chance to stand up for something that was right AND educate the public as to how our rights have been trashed.
Either of them can put forward a bill ordering the closing of GITMO and get headlines.
Either of them can grandstand for CHIPS.
There are lots of opportunities to take an actual stand. Yes, it would be nice if we had the votes and could actually DO something constructive. But these people aren’t even showing up for a fight. They are conceding the high ground, the middle ground and the low ground.
Feh.
I forgot that Edwards did that as well.
Looks like O.J. didn’t forget.
Bingo.
They are in the national news until next year…what an opportunity to promote peace, a progressive aganda and protecting our constitutional rights!! Sorry not getting the leg lassed by this president is ni excuse for not bringing the message to the people. To many back room and washroom deals.
This is an opportune time for one of those Senators to make a stand. Why don’t they? (Rhetorical question.)
Hello John -
I’m just signing off of calls to get people out to vote in Nevada. Thanks for your work. It is a mighty effort.
I plan to cast my vote, and influence everyone around me, to vote for Edwards. I keep telling people it’s about delegates at this point. I don’t think we are going to squeeze much else out of H & O at this time. They are two peas ina pod.
see what I mean about inspiring?
Thank you RevDeb, you inspire me.
That is very cool..WSJ against telecom immunity…. go Dodd
DLC dishes Edwards, declares it a two person race…
Time for Animal House wisdom?
I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody’s part.
Gold hit $900 per ounce today. Up from $250 per ounce in 2001.
Good thing Bernanke is more concerned with the economy than inflation, or we’d be in tons of trouble.
I beg to differ.
They do have a mandate: Is it that still 70% of the American people are against Iraq? How many people want healthcare? How many want their infrastructure maintained? How many people want social security preserved? How many people don’t give a rats ass if Jimmy and Booby their neighbors are gay? How many people care about the environment?
And as far as not being able to accomplish things because they don’t hold the executive branch? Just look at the California legislature, many people would say it’s dysfunctional and unworkable but they hold Derr Gropinator’s feet to the fire for the most part and Don Perata (Senate leader) wields his gavel like a banana republic dictator against anyone in his party who goes out of line — I’m thinking Joe Lieberman would get his ass handed to him six ways to Sunday if he were somehow in the California legislature
Like I said, I respectfully disagree
Amen, and that’s just the short start to a long list.
Last night in the FOX debate Thompson made a point that Huckabee was a member of the “blame America first” camp for previously accusing the Bush administration of having a bunker mentality. The “blame America first” crowd is defined by Thompson as the liberal democrats but really means “anyone that dares to criticize the Bush administration for any of it’s failures.” Thompson is trying to paint any GOP candidate as a democrat if they have had any liberal leaning governing policies in the past, thus making himself appear to be the genuine conservative in the crowd. Thompson thinks this name calling will get him somewhere with short attention span republicans.
a very long list!
Never too late to get on it, mui1. But I’ll warn you, i had to borrow an old longish jacket from my daughter (& remove the assorted black diaper pins still attached to the front) to get some orange garb:
http://www.aclu.org/safefree/d…..anamo.html
I keep reminding myself that no matter who the Repub’s nominate, that person will have to debate the Democrat’s nominee.
And then I smile.
Working at home – I don’t imagine squeezinng orange juice counts :{
*Democrats‘ nominee.
Apostrophe police.
Wnderful QG I went to Edwards site to see how to plug into his campaign we have a lot of young folk who would help. Say it again wonderful. Let’s support a candidate who tells big Corp where it can stick it.
I’ll be at the Smithridge HQ wearing my blue coat with my name stenciled on it (got it from work) ;-)

this is not surprising but it’s distressing never the less;
from think progress
qualified immunity for acts taken within the scope of their government jobs.”
which has now been judicially recognized to include torture.
I don’t even recognize this country any more.
Six months ago – or even three months ago – I would’ve completely agreed. It’s regrettable that, with the exception of Dodd, there’s been little leadership by Democratic candidates. I don’t give the candidates a pass for that, but it is depressing that Dodd got little reward for his leadership. Democratic caucus goers in Iowa clearly were unmoved by it. In that sense, voters are as much to blame as the candidates. If leadership is so important, we ought to be rewarding it.
Now, however, I think it’s unrealistic for them to do it in the midst of primary hell. They have a lot of states to cover and little time to do it. Sure, making a play in the Senate might help them, but they would be conceding precious time and energy that could otherwise be spent campaigning (and, as I said, leading sure didn’t help Dodd). And, let’s face it, they aren’t likely to accomplish very much surrounded by the weak-kneed Democratic delegation in the Senate and then it would not just be Democrats failing, it would be that particular candidate failing.
Honestly, the candidates have got to be exhausted. I read somewhere that Clinton was getting 2 hours of sleep a night in NH. I’m sure the others have been doing about the same. I think the lack of graciousness from Obama in his “you’re likable enough” comment was probably exhaustion speaking more than anything else, whether he was too tired to come up with a more clever response or hide is dislike of his opponent.
The time for them to lead was before they were running for president, IMO. Now, they aren’t going to focus on anything other than the race.
wow, you hit the nail on the head, the courts have now recognized that torture was part of rumsfeld’s job
what country is this?
Qualified immunity for torture? WTF? How could they ever meet the qualified immunity standard?
All the more reason to protest a known U.S. torture site in any way that you can today:
U.S. Appeals Court Dismisses Guantanamo Torture Suit
what country is this?
And what the hell has happened to its judiciary?
A court cannot, or at least should not, throw a bullshit opinion like that out without first examining whether the act complained of was in fact LEGAL.
If not, then by definition, it cannot be within the scope of one’s employment.
I haven’t been able to find the decision, but I’ve got twenty bucks that says they never even looked at that issue.
(turns heads and spits)
Yeah, that was pretty much my response, wondering since when breaking the law fell under the “scope” of official duties.
Is Alice around anywhere? Where’s that Looking Glass? I know it’s here somewhere…
You make a critically important point.
Now if only we could have you moderate a debate, or at least pose this question as part of a panel. Such obvious questions seem avoided. I am so sick of the Russerts, Blitzers and Gibsons who are corporate entertainment tools, who waste our time with “a show of hands” (WTF is this, first grade?) and generalized questions.
Why aren’t these tough questions being posed with tough follow-ups? The American people don’t want to hear one more word about Hillary welling up. Enough of that BS.
“When and how have you actively worked and/or spoken out to end this war Mrs. Clinton?” And when she’s done spinning at her podium, insist she “Give specifics.”
“When I’m president, I will end this war” is how Hillary insults our intelligence with talk of experience and leadership. Why do we have to wait one year and the blessing of her presidency to see her do something she has the ability and mandate (New York’s majority wants it) to affect right now?!
It is no surprise the Dems in Congress, with the exception of Dodd who came out against retroactive immunity-pretty small potatoes these days, and Feingold, don’t do much of anything to rock the boat. Even Obama who opposed the Iraq war, couldn’t find his way to the Senate to vote against Kyle-Lieberman, although his abstention was better than Hillary’s “yes”.
We excuse ourselves-we are fine liberal types who suffer a failure of leadership-who think there’s nothing we can do. We can’t(won’t)stop going to the movies to support the writers. We don’t do much of anything but bitch. Maybe we can’t do anything, but why throw in the towel at this stage of the game?
“multitudinal”. i love it! wish I had read this sooner. it would have been my word for today. it still is, but i only have a few hours to work it in.
On Bill Moyers tonight, or coming soon to a PBS channel near you. Can we really expect change in Washington? (or something like that) Here’s the program:
Worse than that, apparently Obama’s opposition to the war dried up once he became a DLC bagman and now? His remarkable pledge to the Foreign Relations Council to increase U.S. troops strength by 100,000 soldiers and Marines, all the while maintaining the farce of being a “peace” candidate
Appreciate your tip on the Bill Moyers PBS broadcast tonight! Do you know Shelby Steele’s take on candidate Obama?
I, too, am looking for someone who walks his or her talk. The best candidate, in terms of impeachment, NAFTA, healthcare and Iraq is Kucinich. He is not afraid to lead, and in fact has current legislation in the HJC awaiting more work. I live in Washington State, and our caucus is Feb. 9th. I plan to vote for Kucinich. But, we will have to see what happens–there’s a lot of primaries between then and now, and things change–like campaigns run out of money. I can’t wait to see primary results from western states.
“I’m wearing orange”
Me, too.
Bob in HI
All the bla bla change bla bla reminds me of a quotation from the Simpsons episode where Kang and Kodos, the aliens, pass as Bob Dole and Bill Clinton:
“We must move forward… not backwards, not to the side, not forwards, but always whirling, whirling, whirling towards freedom!”
Slap the word change in there and you have our democratic agenda!
I tyried to find out what John Edwards WAS DOING in the years since he lost the campaian back in 2004. Was he out there fighting cases for the underprivileged and making fees from that?
No, he broke up his law firm and started working as a coprporate lawyer for something called the Fortress Investment Group. Turns out this is a massive offshore hedge fund based in the Bahamas that offers wealthy investors a tax-shelter. Edwards was, according to his FEC filing paid $479,512 in salary from FIG!
And contrary to his assertion that he doesn’t take corporate money look at the number one source for his contributions (outside of contributions filtered through Blue America…which may also be from concealed corporate sources). Yep! #1 source of donations $188,000 is from…tada…Fortress Investment! Then Mr. “I don’t accept corporate donations” has $77,000 from Goldman Sachs; $54,750 from Deutsche Bank and $49,000 from Citigroup.
Oh…and a ton of lawfirms (of course, NO LAWFIRMS ever are lobbyists…no sireee, nope they never lobby).
I’m an Edwards fan, but if Obama could demonstrate his magic power to inspire Repubs to work with him by getting just ONE Republican senator to join him for just ONE day in joining Dodd’s filibuster, I’ll quit my job and volunteer for him full-time until November.
It would be a feat that put an end to questions about the post-partisan love-fest hope plan.
Oh dear cinnamonape – just did a quick google of Fortress Investment Group and visited their web site. Then phoned a trusted friend and stock broker and asked what he knew about FIG. I learned that it is a respected hedge fund and designed to protect wealth assets from volatile markets. Here is a linky to wikipedias site explaining how hedge funds operate.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hedge_fund
This kind of financial stuff is way out of my league but then the very rich – and I assume the Edwards are at least in the rich, if not very rich, category have every right to work with and protect their assets.
Am just saying that if John Edwards did have any taint of scandal or egregious greed in his past surely his rivals would have likely dug it up long before now and spun it and all that awful crap.
If all three of them pledged to join the filibuster (couldn’t they let Edwards speak, at least from the floor?), they couldn’t argue that they were missing opportunities on the hustings while there opponents weren’t. They might even get some FREE news coverage. So how likely is that? I didn’t think so either.
Or for that matter what was wrong with every single day up until now?
Or what was wrong with when you had Hillary on FDL? What was wrong with then?
Perhaps it’s worth noting that Technorati is tracking over 10 million blogs.
Obviously we are embroiled in an election cycle that will determine the future direction that this country will take. The sides are drawn and will not deviate from their entrenched position. Obama realizes this and to accomplish
his goals he must mobilize a movement of Democrats, Republicans ,and independents that it is so powerful that it will be able to sever the strangle hold which special interests has on our government. Obama needs us to make that possible.
It’s about time that the people expressed their frustration with protests at the bar of injustice.
I watched the broadcast. Shelby Steele is a pretty confused guy struggling with his own identity.
The other day she told a crowd “fired up” “ready to go ” she suddenly says ” this is personal with me” she is now taking on the establishment and wants change. She changes with the weather. Check out her campaign finance report. She loves big oil and big pharma. Has done pretty goood for a public servant
who shows between 5-25 million just in her Citi bank accountalone . She mishandled health care her only asignment in her husbands infamous administration, was W”’s handmaiden for war. Offerred carte blanche in Iran by again siding with W and Lieberman. Triangulation she would try strangulation to be President.
I don’t think her money is separable from his money, and Bill has been raking it in from speaking fees. Hillary also got a million dollars from the sale of her book.
Hillary’s enemies turn her into a sympathetic figure. Her candidacy should be opposed, but not for the wrong reasons. There are plenty of right reasons not to support Clinton for President.
