Fresh on the heels of his debate performance last night, Fred Thompson gets the Human Events endorsement.
The wingnuts are ablaze with a fiery inspiration. Connecticut Yankee:
The Republican debate in Myrtle Beach was a clear win for Fred Thompson, and that seems to be the building prevailing sentiment. Everyone else seemed content to play defense and just attempt to hold ground. They failed.
As for Ron Paul… it was hard for both the moderating team and the candidates to hide their mix of pity and disgust.
Ron Paul won the post debate Fox News txt poll, 32% to Thompson’s 22%.
Fred Thompson came alive last night and today Ronald Reagan’s favorite newspaper endorses him. Let’s see what he can do with these in the next week.
Fred Thompson finished behind all the write-in candidates in New Hampshire.
The New York Times had an article yesterday about the two men who wheeled a dead guy to the check cashing store. I don’t know why that comes to mind.

Jane!
Jane !! Zed ??
Damn !! Congrats, Bio.
LOL! I saw/read that article yesterday. Some Hell’s Kitchen’s longtime residents (before it got yuppified) said that was quite bizarre, even for the old Hell’s Kitchen…
I kinda like the idea of running against Grampa Fred.
Jane!
Don’t I recall seeing recently that Human Events named Rust Limpballs as “Man of the Year?”
Of course they love Freddie of Hollywood
This Rip Van Winkle finally woke up, but it’s too little too late, and now it’s time to go back to sleep. Reminds me of that line in the Bladerunner, when a replicant said to Sebastian: “Wake up, it’s time to die!”
Hi, Jane!
The New York Times had an article yesterday about the two men who wheeled the dead guy to the check cashing store. I don’t know why that come to mind.
very funny, especially when combined with the picture
INTERVIEWER
Mr. Thompson, have you a comment?
FRED
(snoring, head back, mouth open)
INTERVIEWER
Ok…back to you, Dave.
From the “Human Events” endorsement:
“Sen. Thompson, you suffer, like most conservatives, from the built-in problem of not being a professional politician. It’s precisely as Rush Limbaugh said of you: “The problem with Thompson is, and a little bit with me, is I’m a depth guy. I like depth. Television doesn’t reward depth. Television rewards zingers, one-liners, cutesyisms. Fred Thompson produced a brilliant 17-minute video that was on YouTube that explains everything about every issue that he cares about. It’s clear he’s thought deeply about a whole lot.”
Deep thoughts. Hmm. Rush Limbaugh. Deep. Fred Thompson. Deep.
Okay, how can we ever seriously debate the issues here at FDL when the wingnuts come up with this kind of shit?
God, what a beautiful post. Especially that last paragraph.
When do Republicans ever care for deep thoughts and analysis?
Kos has an interesting push for toying in the Michigan primary to support Romney and prolong the gooper civil war.
TBogg has the exclusive photo op of Fred relaxing on the campaign trail.
As for Ron Paul… it was hard for both the moderating team and the candidates to hide their mix of pity and disgust.
Man overboard! LOL …love to see the wignuts eat their own.
Them’s fighting words…

I’m probably in the minority here, but I don’t like that idea. Romney is still absolutely viable, and I just don’t buy the idea that helping him, anywhere, is a good thing for Dem’s.
I respectfully suggest a massive write-in-ballot initiative for Duke Cunningham…
I’m pretty sure Frank Luntz focus group consisted of Fred Thompson’s family and campaign staff.

Larry Craig.
His campaign slogan: Put Larry Craig Back on Top.
-G
MSNBC and ABC are doing their best to raise the level of political discourse.
Lemme see if I’ve got this: Television isn’t “depth,” but a 17-minute YouTube video, that’s depth. Right.
The Dems with their printed words and website white papers are clearly the height of superficiality.
My favorite line from the endorsement is this:
Mmmmmkay…….
Ron Paul was forced to debate both Fox News moderators and other Republican candidates last night.
Yet, Ron Paul still won the debates in txt polling.
Were the twins there?
Yikes. He is a professional Actor, playing a politician on the campaign trail. Now that is depth for you. Only the GOP could embrace that type of logic.
what bothers me the most now is that Dems are rolling over on the the surge working. As you can read all around the reality network, more people have died and been seriously injured in Iraq in the 5 years the US has held the place than in the decades of Sadam rule.
The “acceptable” cost to the US–according to the Gooper campaigns–is tooling along at about 50 dead a month and 10+ billion spent.
Where is the outrage from Clinton and Obama? I hear some from Edwards.
Huck apparently said Grandpa Fred is on metamucil and that is why he was so grouchy last night.
Larry Craig.
His campaign slogan: Put Larry Craig Back on Top.
lol. Yeah, that’s better. Wide-Stance Larry it is…
Yeah, combining the title “senator” and “not a professional politician” in one sentence is pretty rich.
Of course, if they had a shred of honesty, they’d have to note that he’s a professional lobbyist, and then the true statement would be: “Sen. Thompson, you suffer, like most conservatives, from the built-in problem of making your living off the government teat while claiming to oppose its existence.”
Actually Freddie was a politician/lawyer prior to the acting gig. He was noticed by Hollywood as “photogenic” during the Senate Watergate hearings where he was the lead Minority counsel.
No one said the Hollywood types who thought him photogenic were intelligent.
Kos is right: we need a Romney win in Michigan to keep the madness alive.
They all had a good response on the “surge” in the NH debate, and showed that they get it, but I agree they’re not talking about it enough.
Well, they pegged him as a character actor, not a leading man, so they’re not entirely unintelligent. He’s a “type,” he doesn’t have to actually look good.
I could go for clinton or obama if I thought they would talk about the war during the campaign against romhuckson, or whatever. but i think they may just roll on that part.
It’s treu. Reagan had good hair.
It’s an absolutely bizarre, only in New York story.
And, it gets better – the guy who played Bernie in the Weekend at Bernie’s (I and II)? He’s had the script for installment III floating around Hollywood for a while. He’s now interviewed (in the NY Post, of course – they’re reveling in this story) and says he’ll try to find bit parts for these two knuckleheads (when they make bail), if the movie goes forward.
Like Ron Paul gives a fuck what any of the mods or his opponents think. The man is on a disestablishment mission and he’s got a lot of really big fans. Basically, Fox and Friends are practicing antidisestablishmentarianism.

I detested Richard Nixon and I miss that website by those mischievious lads which contained pics and videos of people urinating on Nixon’s grave. I believe it was entitled pissonnixonsgrave.com when it was still up. That said, Nixon was a very shrewd judge of chracter. He had Thompson nailed from the beginning. Don’t understand why he gives Tweety an erection.
Just payback, after all! Remember when someone criticized Mitt for voting Democratic? His reply was simple; that he was just exercising his perogative to vote in the Democratic primary to help the Dems select the worst possible candidate he could. He did so because he could. Turnabout’s fair play, I always say.

Said he was stupid and lazy. Don’t understand why Thompson gives Tweety an erection.
I hope the planners for Bush’s grave take sanitation into account.
If that man is photogenic I’m an ostrich anus.
I have a theory about how Fred preps for debates.
Basically it involves his handlers moving him from the real quiet far rear bedroom in the unused part of the house, to the back back bedroom, to the back bedroom, to the front bedroom.
This allows a gradual decrease in sleepytime for Fred, and it’s important that it be done in stages or else he’s just too cranky.
How this is going to work when the phone wakes him up in the White House bedroom and alerts him to a missile crisis, I don’t know.
Ron Paul was like their pinata
and I’ve only seen two gooper debates and I am already
tired of the Huckster’s jokes. It was a toss up as to who
hadmore forced one liners between Huck and Fred.
But all in all I thought Fred carried the day. Isn’t SC where the McCain supporter called Clinton a bitch? Mostly retired military and country club republicans. I think McCain or Thompson.
The march to war with Iran continues apace.
One needs only see the responses to the latest boating incident to see that the US will easily be gulled into an attack on Tehran.
US navy reports having fired warning shots at Iran.

Poor Mitt, the party must have done some internal polling to determine that a Mormon will never win with the base.
Now they are going to let him bleed money and fade away.
-G
I coughed up my coffee, well done!
It was great that Ron Paul snubbed Hannity by saying he had another commitment after the debate so he could not appear on the post debate show.
WRT Dead Man Rolling. . .prolly the most initiative the pair had ever undertaken.
Trainwrecks-R-us. I am pretty convinced that Lawrence O’Donnell’s tirade against Edwards (on Huffington) as a white southern man who would stand in the way of a black man was a Clinton hit piece – and an effective one. O’Donnell is a long time Hillary supporter and DCC man. The remark was intended to get southern (and other?) white men (and women) up in arms against Obama as a Johnie-come-lately and worse. You need to put this in the context of the Cuomo racist comments, and some of what Bill said in NH. Plus, the Clinton folks seem to be willing to do lots behind the scenes against the interests of the Dem party more generally. Why did she decide to go against the party in Michigan? And doesn’t she simply opt out there. In short, I think this really Stinks and she needs to be called out on it.
The following was written after the housing collapse of 1927:
“The lesson of the housing bubble is simple: whenever monetary policy is put into the hands of privately owned institutions like the Federal Reserve, those policies will invariably reflect the narrow interests of the men who own them and the members of their class.
That’s why Thomas Jefferson warned, “Banking institutions are more dangerous than standing armies.”
He undoubtedly had the Federal Reserve in mind.”
Watching the Democrats descend into this tribal madness is making me ill.

I thought it was Larry Craig: Come from the bottom.
Jane has a question upstairs.
Oh my….
-G
really? is that quote for real? they gotta be shittin’ me. fred stayed alert for a 17 minute stretch? I gotta get that YouTube link, seeing is believing and right now, i don’t believe it. Limbaugh is “depth guy”? Fred is a “depth guy,” too.? I thought he was a guy the good ol’ boys could relate to. you know, red pickup truck an’ all. this was a great strategy by fred and i give him credit — stay so far below the radar that you they can do a complete makeover from NASCAR guy to depth guy and nobody’ll notice. is he getting a wife who’s maybe 3/4 of his own age, too? Depth guys can’t be seen with bimbos.
I wonder if two guys have been wheeling Fred around?
So Freddy got the “Human Stain” endorsement. I guess he’s the type of man, who when he has nothing, will take what he can get, rather than working for the best.
Cunningham/Noe — Leading the way (for Republicans going to jail)
With more experience (in jail) than Delay/Hastert
What’s better than a candidate who was a war hero like Cunningham? A V.P. candidate who won two presidential races by any means he could find.
Yep, the Republican ticket is a real winner. Heh.
