Starting about 2 years ago I began handing out “Impeach Bush” bumperstickers. We’ve distributed about 2,000 so far.

A couple of months ago I was instrumental at getting our Deschutes County Democratic Party to sign a Resolution in favor of Impeaching Bush and Cheney.

BAGHDAD, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) — U.S. warplanes bombarded 40 targets of suspected al-Qaida safe havens, dropping 40,000 pounds of explosives during ten minutes on Thursday morning, the U.S. military said.

A military statement said that two B-1 bomber and four F-16 fighter jets struck targets in the Arab Jabour area, which is a stronghold for al-Qaida in Iraq militants in south of the capital.

“Thirty-eight bombs were dropped within the first ten minutes, with a total tonnage of 40,000 pounds,” the statement said.

The U.S.-Iraqi joint forces Tuesday unveiled a military operation dubbed “Phantom Phoenix,” which is designed to make the current security gains sustainable.

In spite of the ebb of violence, the U.S. military warned that al-Qaida is still capable of launching “spectacular” attacks in Iraq.

The attack came a day after the U.S. army announced the killing of nine of its troops north of the capital.

I’ve not been following the news real closely. It was mentioned on NPR this afternoon with an interview with an BBC journalist. I came in late on my way to home.

Per NPR (and some other stuff I heard on my way to work on NPR and/or AAR), we dropped 23.5 tons of ordinance on a sparsely populated province just south of Baghdad that has long been an Al Qaeda refuge. The British guy said that there were 20 unconfirmed Al Quaeda fatalities, but he had no data on civilian casualties … “but the area is sparsely populated.” Fucking YUCK!!!
