Starting about 2 years ago I began handing out “Impeach Bush” bumperstickers. We’ve distributed about 2,000 so far.

I can say that about the nurses and techs I’ve worked with.

We just have to keep spreading the word and maybe start pestering the rest of the Dem congressman to help. Then tell Nancy and Harry the table has no more legs to it. Impeach now! That will rev up the base

I’ve probably learned more indiscreet vocabulary from reading than from all the time I spent in beer bars and pool halls. And the Internet is the greatest resource I’ve ever had; at least once a year I learn a new word for male or female genetalia. Even my biker friends from San Quentin don’t know word that I do. But, when I tell them, they’ll say them in sign language to the guys from the local school for the deaf.
We live in a very wierd culture.

I’m curious, is there anything of an activist scene up in Washougal? Here in Bend I kinda feel like a fish out of water. The right wing crazies are the dominant life form out here. I expect evolution to catch up with this area in another four centuries or so.
Ray, i’ll probably be in Bend this summer. if you want to hook up for a beer and talk let me know …..
Good gawd. That song takes me straight back to walking three miles through the cotton fields to get to Chicken George’s house. Chicken George was the bootlegger.

-G
I’ve not been following the news real closely. It was mentioned on NPR this afternoon with an interview with an BBC journalist. I came in late on my way to home.
Per NPR (and some other stuff I heard on my way to work on NPR and/or AAR), we dropped 23.5 tons of ordinance on a sparsely populated province just south of Baghdad that has long been an Al Qaeda refuge. The British guy said that there were 20 unconfirmed Al Quaeda fatalities, but he had no data on civilian casualties … “but the area is sparsely populated.” Fucking YUCK!!!

Lefties will enjoy this update of the “Internationale” by Maxx Klaxon:
http://www.new-mp3s.com/downlo…..0-Mp3.html
Arise you workers from your slumber
All you wage-slaves, everyone
The revolution comes like thunder
And the age of hypocrisy is done
Turn off their televised illusion
Stand up and look them in the eyes
Declare your mental liberation
Shake off the dust, and claim the prize
Chorus: (2x)
So comrades, come rally
And the last fight, let us face
The Internationale unites the human race
We’ve got something, something to prove
And everything to gain
We’ve got nothing, nothing to lose
Nothing to lose, except our chains
Chrous
We see through their disinformation
Designs to dream us into war
And soon the soldiers in formation
Will break their ranks and fight no more.
And if those thieves think it’s their right
To sacrifice us to their dream
They’ll see we’ve just begun to fight
It’s time to change our world regime
We’ve got something, something to prove
And everything to gain
We’ve got nothing, nothing to lose
Nothing to lose, except our chains
We’ve got something, something to prove
And everything to gain
We’ve got nothing, nothing to lose
Nothing to lose, except our chains

and this is the main reasons why i am NOT a Hillary fan. every Hillary Clinton supporter needs to come to grips with this aspect of her candidacy. it is immoral, unexcusable and will continue leading the US on the road to failure. it is in no way a progressive facet of any future administration. it is a recipe for moral condemnation.

I don’t see it as any victory. Weren’t many of us infuriated at the passage of the current status last Summer? And now an extension of it is a victory? Sorry.. I don’t like it and I don’t want continuance of what may very well be unconstitutional activity.
Did I mention I am nasty too?
But that was the Idea!!

will do so today
I wish i was fluent! As it is, i could probably make some educated guesses on what they say. Though i do have a few friends that ARE fluent in it(instead of my piecemeal half immersion learned stuff.)

Indeed, one of my best friends is Japanese and now lives in Tokyo. But, alas he’s working for Guiliani, so I’ve been avoiding. But, perhaps it’s now time.
Quelle suprise! lol
Ray,
Yeah, i’d have to enlist my friends. I can barely keep up with it. But it definitely is on whether it was worth having the SDF take part in the wars or not. Or to keep supporting the US in the first place. That much i caught. My gods, *eyes cross* The ‘des ka’ ‘dasai’s…i thought i’d heard polite japanese before, that’s just beyond. I need to listen through to see if they got into the more sarcastic politeness i’ve heard from them before, that’s very much akin to the british version i’m familiar with.
I’m sure it came up in those debates, among the formalities on top of fomalities in the Diet. (when they dont’ decide they want to brawl.)
*listens a little more and tries not to trip over the formal language too much*

what’s on my mind?
Recounts… why they are unnecessary, and why they should be conducted anyway.
Last things first. The reason why they should be conducted even if they are not necessaary is to ensure that anyone considering messing with the vote tabulation equipment knows that it will be caught.
As to why they are unnecessary in New Hampshire…. because the polls were accurate. If you look at the internals.
Because the internals tell you that the electorate was extremely volatile, and that a large percentage of voters had not made up their minds.
Take for example the Suffolk poll, which was conducted on Jan 6-7. The “headline” was that it was Obama 39, Hillary 34. But the internals told a different story.
It was a story that was within 1.5% point among fully committed voter — and that was because a much higher percentage of Clinton voters were committed to voting for her.
And the internals also told you that the poll assumed a 53 female, 47 male demographic mix. It is crucial to remember when looking at these polls that they are adjusted to a pre-determined demographic mix — and the less the actual electoral conforms to the mix used by poll in key demographic categories where there are distinct variances in levels of support for each candidate, the less it will conform to the final results.
(This isn’t a margin of error issue — MOE is based on the assumption that the demographic assumed with be identical to the final results. Public opinion polls are just that…opinion polls, and not predictive of behavior.)
The polling done in New Hampshire between Christmas and the Iowa caucuses showed Clinton with an average of just under 35% — and again, this number reflects a demographic assumption of 53-54% female, 46-47% males, and because the percentage of that demographic was off, these polls underestimated Clinton’s actual support by a couple of points. Add to that the fact that it includes an average of around 16 percent showing support for Dodd, Biden, Gravel, Kuchinich, and “undecided” and assuming a maximum of 4 points total of Kucinich and Gravel, you had 12% of voters who had either not made up their mind, or had indicated support for candidates who dropped out.
There was no “Clinton surge” at the end… all there was was a small “waver” of voters who had been leaning toward Clinton for months before Iowa, started leaning toward Obama right after Iowa, then went back “home” to Clinton before election day. Clinton picked up only 3-5% of the “up for grabs” vote (including people who were “leaning toward Edwards”), and held on to the support she’d had in New Hampshire all along.
The Obama surge was very real, however. Before Iowa, his polls were at an average of under 26%. Obama picked up most of the undecided/Dodd/Biden support that was available, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Clinton’s long term, committed support.
Got it. just was telling you a little story bout tucker…is on the way
Sounds like a good reason to Impeach
I’ll see what i can do. I’m more familiar with the ‘tones’ of the language myself, since i’m not fully fluent and need actual formal classes to get what i haven’t picked up on my own. It’s enough to get me through their entertainment without too much help, but political language. Oh dear gods i’m not THAT good yet.
If it’s taking place now? It’s a definite power play on the part of the party doing the questioning though. It’s fully couched in their most formal and neutral forms of the language, which is quite telling on its own. If they were more familiar it wouldn’t be much to think about. I just don’t have the rest of the knowledge of it to grasp the full context. And Nihongo is swimming in context, about as heavily as english does when it comes down to it. (and why i LOVE it as a ‘hobby’ language i want to pick up fully.)
Re:
Thanks for that translation. It’s nice for me to understand the context within which the discussion came up. There is a lively right wing in Japan which remembers the glory of the Co-Prosperity Sphere and they are certainly being egged on by our merchants of death like Richard Perle and the RaytheonLockheedL3BoeingNorthrup greedheads.
I look forward to your further insights. Thanks.

Anybody else think Rudy is the best thing that happened to the Democrats this cycle?
He is a singularly unattractive candidate (I don’t mean the ugly fucker part) who embodies the awful wrath that the Goopers have unleashed on the planet. And while dragging his party to extremes with his 9/11 bravado bullshit, he dooms them all (the other Goopers) to the same standing as Chimpy.
Makes nearly any Democrat a breath of fresh air…

Hi luasiak,
Can you define “internals” for us? The link that you provided does not contain that word on the page. I’m getting the heeby-jeebies here reading your post and wondering if this is some variation on tea-leaf reading or a seance thing you’ve got going with that page. All I see there from my bare knuckles take-no-prisoners, show-no-quarter Chicago ward politics background is that Barack Obama’s hockey stick meteoric rise in the polls after the Iowa stunner leaves little reason for me to doubt that the fix was in up in New Hampshire.
Internals = ?
Put it this way. The japanese? When they get as stiff and formal as the british. Be careful. They’re just about as cutting verbally and otherwise. Some of their most infamous cultural villians? Use the most polite forms in their shows. Sometimes not even the ‘villians.’ The good guys use that ideal as well. There are ways to tell the sincerity but it takes time to learn, and usually you have to learn it IN the culture itself.
My friend has a better angle on it than i, because she lived there for a year. I tend to use my sources and experiences with the UK cultures, because both societies use formality and politeness in similar ways. All the way down to the insults couched in the most formal language possible. Once i had the grasp on the ‘forms’ of it, it helped me figure out what as there, and my piecemeal knowledge of the words and concepts. That’s where i lose out though, since i don’t have the full grasp of it. So…off to my friend it will go.
*grin* I’ll stop geeking. I need to get to bed so i can work! *yawns*
Night all I have a cord of Almond coming in the am, It will the third one this season… used up most of two already …been colder than usual. talk at all of ya next late night
You’re right on. For reasons I could never imagine, the RNC establishment hung all of their hopes on what seemed from here to be a sure loser. When he crashed and Mitt flared out, they had nowhere to turn but St. John (and perhaps some vain hopes for Bloomberg). The problem with Bloomberg is that he is unlikely to win and IMHO would likely take more votes away from the Republicans than the Democrats.
The Republican establishment is extremely well funded and well connected. They are very dangerous. (Not to be intimidated, but not to be overly confident either.)
nite eureka
nite nahant
Forms and tones, i should say. bleargh. When you’re an audiogeek, it makes languages interesting just on audio level. I like spanish just because of the ‘flow’ of it for one. Japanese? The context and the rhythm of it. The Queen’s English? I grew up with. I have a godmother from Liverpool. *grin*
My only foreign language is a smattering of High School French with some additional time spent on reading their news in the vernacular. Japanese is as lost on me as Quecha.
Bon Chance!
The Japanese culture is so foreign yet bizarrely familiar to Americans. At some level they have refuted American culture, via “reductio ad absurdum.” It’s frightening! Do you realize that they are developing nuclear reactors to heat and power apartment buildings, prepackaged with 40 years of fuel?
basically, internals are the data used to come up with the stuff that shows up in the press release announcing the results. Sometimes the ones that are released just include the questions asked, and the answers given. Sometimes they provide breakdowns for the answers in certain demographic categories.
And the ones that people like me love are the ones with “cross-tabs” which break down demographic categories even more (I.E. one that has one axis that breaks down the data based on one or two variables/demographic characteristics, and the other axis breaking it down based on one or two different variables/demographic characteristics. I mean, don’t you want to know what percentage of protestant unmarried women with children under the age of twelve were leaning strongly toward Hillary Clinton two days before the primary! ;-)
The thing to remember about internals is that as the size of the subgroup decreases, the margin of error increases. So a poll of 500 people that is 50% male and says that 40% of men supported candidate X would have a margin of error of +-5, the minute you break that down to married and unmarried men, the margin of error increases, because the group you are looking at is men, and the sample size of the men is only 250, and the bigger your sample, the lower your margin of error.
If i have my way, i’ll likely be fluent in three languages by the time i get over to canada. Spanish and Japanese in addition to the english i grew up with. Both forms, so the british spellings don’t faze me at all because of growing up right next to(and spending whole summers with family in) canada. Much less hearing and seeing french as the secondary language. I just don’t LIKE french. *shrugs*
I need something to do in my spare time, or will if i can’t find anything else to do.
Okay, Bed! for real this time. *waves and wanders off to bed* Kon ban wa!
Yes, they are a spitting cobra. And there is nothing, nothing they will not unleash upon the Democrat.
It’s partly why I believe that Edwards is the best shot we have at McCain. Of the 3 still standing with a real shot, he can debate McCain up one side and down he other, should he choose. When Edwards confronted Shooter about Haliburton doing business with Iran during sanctions in the 2004 veep debate, it got very little play, and Shooter sloughed the accusation off with his usual means, never challenged. That won’t happen again.
Really, the Dem in this race doesn’t need to tie McCain to Chimpy. He just needs to remind the electorate about how much McCain and Rudy have in common.
30 years ago, I had a friend who decided it was essential that he learn Japanese to communicate with his future bosses and Spanish to communicate with his future subordinates. I insisted that a fool like him would work for both, and be fortunate to have a job at all.

I find it funny that they pay you MORE if you’re fluent in at least one more language in the US. I have no idea how they play that in canada, but if it’s the neither of the two primary langauges? I bet they’re game to use it, considering their immigration policies. It helps in the long run. (also earns ‘points’ on their tests)
I heartedly agree. What are Obama and Clinton going to say when McCain says we need to stay in Iraq 100 years? They had their chances to say they’d get the troops our. And, they finally did it, but that was only under pressure.
This nation needs presidential candadates who are leaders, not fools who at the 11th hour pick up talking points from their opponents. Fucking YUCK!!!
Re:
I trust you are being facetious here. :) Otherwise, no, I’m not interested at all in what pre-teenybopper females think. I’m surprised anyone would think they do.
Which reminds me of the old joke about the abortion controversy. This is probably not P.C. so let’s not have the thought police get agitated.
At a confrontation at an abortion clinic a pro-lifer shouted out to one of the staffers, a tough-minded Jewish woman of a certain age, “what if you had aborted your son? Just what age do you think he became a human at?” The clinic worker shouted back, “just as soon as that bastard graduates from medical school!”

One of my Canadian friends said that they don’t want a melting pot; they want a salad. I really enjoyed all of the ethnic cultures and cuisines I enjoyed in Montreal in 1966, but I can find better in the U.S. now.
OK, so if a person can speak two languages is bilingual, and a person who can speak three is trilingual, what do you call a person who can only speak one language?

I still think that Hillary may try to “revise” her position on the AUMF vote. I’m certain they’ve had the language sitting on a shelf somewhere, waiting to trot it out, should she get herself in a mortal bind in the race. Obama, while not exactly clean wrt war funding and aggressive rhetoric, has a built-in out, not having been in the Senate when it was voted on.
She has cards, but I have my doubts that she has the skills to play them.
Yeah, that’s not PC. But it’s funny as hell.
It is, however, Late Late Nite.
That’s why I really like Jane’s “put up or shut up” posting this afternoon. She challenged both Hillary and Barak to show that they’re for real as “the agents of change” that they claim to be. “Go back to Congress and do something, anything.”
Dog Lovers check out this video.
Marion Jones was convicted by a federal judge for perjury and taking performance enhancing drugs 6 months in prison 2 years probation and 800 hours of community service. Lost the medals and the records are expunged she is shamed and broke.
George Bush ordered the murder of 600,000 people and the loss of 4,000 servicemen and women, He ordered the complete destruction of a country of 25 million people. He drove millions out of their homes and millions more fled their country.
So sickening, Judge Kalas’s decision fot no leinency. She has a 7 month old and a 4 year old. This is so sad. In Austin Texas the fascist capital of America where dems are no longer a force.
Is there any chance of Dems taking back Texas, ever?

And here I thought Jane was simply baying at the moon.

It’s been said that in abour 4 billion years the Sun will burn out and expand, ending all life on Earth. So if you are waiting for hell to freeze over, I’d give it about 7 Billion years.
Always if Hightower has anything to say.
I want to know who appointed that judge.
Re:
Unless he’s Chinese, and then he’s probably Wong.
that would be amazing. I’m under the impression that they both want Edwards out of the race, but they both need him to stay in. Full-on conundrum.
But if either trots back to the Senate in the middle of the campaign to rescue a whatever that’s really important, the other would have to follow. It would be theatre to be sure, but it would do 2 things at least.
One – it would allow either/both to show something to their constituencies, that governance is both hard and important.
and Two, it would end Edwards then and there.
Edwards peeps would be up for grabs. This may be riskier that waiting for him to become marginal (more than he is now), but it would settle it long before the convention, giving either time to make up ground
Talking out of my ass here.
I have a special love for Texas liberals, like Hightower and Ivins, Charlie Wilson, etc. I never liked LBJ, but his social-rights legislation may have been the biggest thing in the U.S. in 150 years. In fact, much of the crap that progressives face today is a by-product of his excellent legislation. God Bless him for that. (I’ll not go into my gripes with him.)
An oldie but a goodie:
A new threat!
At New York’s Kennedy airport today, an individual, later discovered to be a public school teacher, was arrested trying to aboard a flight while in possession of a ruler, a protractor, a T-square, a slide rule and a calculator.
At a morning press conference, Attorney General Mukasey said he believes the man to be a member of the notorious al-gebra movement. He is being charged by the FBI with carrying weapons of math instruction.
“Al-gebra is a fearsome cult,” Mukasey said. “They desire average solutions by means and extremes, and sometimes go off on tangents in a search for absolute value. They use secret code names like ‘x’ and ‘y’ and refer to themselves as ‘unknowns,’ but we have determined that they belong to a common denominator of the axis of medieval with coordinates in every country.”
As the Greek philanderer Isosceles used to say, “There are 3 sides to every triangle,’” Mukasey declared. When asked to comment on the arrest, President Bush said, “If God had wanted us to have better weapons of math instruction, He would have given us more fingers and toes.”
“I am gratified that our government has given us a sine that it is intent of protracting us from these math-dogs who are willing to disintegrate us with calculus disregard. Murky statisticians love to inflict plane on every sphere of influence,” the President said, adding, “Under the circumferences, we must differentiate their root, make our point, and draw the line.”
President Bush warned, “These weapons of Math instruction have the potential to decimal everything in their math on a scalene never before seen unless we become exponents of a Higher Power and begin to factor in random facts of vertex.”
Attorney General Mukasey said, “As our Great Leader would say, “Read my ellipse.’ Here is one principle he is uncertainty of: though they continue to multiply, their days are numbered as the hypotenuse tightens round their necks.
Very sad. I want changes in drug laws. No freaking way she should be doing jail time for this.
Good, gracious. It’s way late. G’nite all.

Apparently you missed the Chicago Tribune article today about Obama’s entry into politics? Because if you had read it, you would certainly not be foolish enough to think that Obama isn’t working every angle to kill of Edward’s candidacy. What I loved about the Trib’s article was that it made clear Obama’s “show no quarter” attitude toward opponents.
Which reminds me of the story about the street hustlers down on Sunset Boulevard. They got a saying down there:
“If you ain’t workin’ an angle, you are the angle.”
I think all three remaining contenders are working every angle they can conceive of. Don’t you?

Re:
We need more of this. We get closer every day and Marion is probably feeling a lot like me. Tom Jefferson wrote that this nation could use a revoltion ever generation. We are long overdue, and the hypocrisy of our country is driving more of us to the brink every day.
District Judge Kenneth M. Karas 2004 George W. Bush apppointed. How many more unjust decisions will these madmen inflict on Americans that are not part of the 1% that rule our Republic as enlightened despots withgod granted divne rights like the French kings that were eventually lost their heads. This is a madman that need to be removed now/
Ready for nightmares? This is for all you tinfoil hat types:
9/11 evidence which makes it very difficult (or impossible) to go
on blaming “hijackers” for 9/11 has been ignored and suppressed by
the government and the media…

http://911blimp.net/vid_WTC1explosions.shtml
http://911blimp.net/aud_BushImplicatesBush.shtml
http://911blimp.net/prf_911commRpt.shtml#pentagon
http://911blimp.net/prf_FreeFallPhysics.shtml
Is it honest to continue to blame 9/11 on “hijackers” even after
we know that we can not blame the too-rapid, too-energetic
demise of the WTC skyscrapers on “airplanes” (or even thermite)?
Democracy Now had a lot on the Guantanamo ‘detainees’ it orange. I want to know what information was obtained from those tortured.
Bill Moyer had a black man from Stanford who criticised Barack for being a bargainer with whites to gain their support by expunging their guilt. Hmmm.
The name of the game is perjury traps. They scare you with time for conviction you wiggle and squirm…they know what you want to do…you are tempted and trapped. The crime you did you plead but don’t get a bargain, Maybe threatened with the loss of your kids. It is a nasty game ask Barry Bonds and now the baseball pitcher.
14 year olds are on performance enhancing drugs to be competitive. The Governor of California had a Doctor in L.A. that prescribed body building drugs and tested him and others for liver damage. Dr. Kerr if I remember.
The justice you get is what you can pay for. We should have free health care and legal care for all.
Re:
LOL! It’s time to consider deep politics? “What is that?” you ask?
Consider that those declared to be the perpetrators of 9/11 were actually mere patsies. What then? Then we don’t know exactly who the real planners and perpetrators of 9/11 are, but we can categorically say that they are homegrown terrorist, operating in the netherworld of crony capitalism at the nexus of the military and the industrial organizations that dominate America today. Did we attack ourselves? I cannot categorically state that, but one of the most sophisticated researchers into deep politics is Peter Dale Scott. If I could make a suggstion, you might want to pick up Scott’s most recent book, “The Road to 9/11″.
Scott does not have an answer to who did 9/11. But he makes a convincing argument that al Qaeda, the Guantanemo detainee and anyone else blamed by the U.S. government for 9/11 were certainly not the perpetrators.
Or, as Lily Tomlin puts it, “no matter how cynical I get, it’s hard to keep up.”
The Video Liberation Movement
When the mainstream media becomes just to odious to stand any longer, consider the alternatives.
Actually Obama stated his opposition to the war long before Edwards did. Edwards refused to renounce his support for the War Authorization Resolution during the 2003 Primary season and advised Kerry, who was considering renouncing his vote, not to. Edwards told Kerry “It’s a trap, we’ll be tagged as ‘flip-floppers’ once again.” Edwards only renounced his Iraq vote a full year after the 2004 election debacle. Of course, Obama wasn’t yet in the Senate and Edwards was…so maybe they had different pressures on them. But Obama has held to his position. Edwards only retracted his vote when now WMD’s had been located, and the occupation started to look like it was going to be a total disaster.
Despite Obama not being in the Senate (and facing the pressure of facing a home constituencies “anger” while the war was apparently going well) Obama actually decided to run for Senate despite his well-known stance. Keyes made regular comments about Obama’s “failure to support the troops” and therefore supporting Iraqi “terrorists.
I have a question. Hasn’t Hillary stated that she would have voted against the AUMF if she had known about the Administrations fudging on the intelligence and absence of a political-military strategy for occupation and withdrawal? Isn’t that the same position Edwards made in his mea culpa? Both assert that they trusted Bush not to invade until the inspectors had actually discovered WMD’s and Iraq refused to dismantle them.
They have a similar “withdrawal” plan that requires residual forces to remain in Iraq. Edwards also throws in several brigades as a rapid deployment force “over the horizon” in Kuwait.
Good Morning everyone.
Good morning pups!
Good morning yee with one of the geographically Blueish of BlueBayState Handles, and may the gods who have smiled on Brady and Jacoby (Brajacoby?)and even Predoia (BrajacobPredo sounds too much like a predator) and all the BBState’s team smile on you and the candidates (Blueish) and party of your choice.
Goodmorning Millineryman and all.
See me @15 for a bit of fun and a chance for early birds to do something for FDL.
I’ll be back on the first AM post.
Good Meaning egregious
I just let that typo stay in there, my eyes are all bleared up
Just a stay-at-home weekend for a change? Or are you and your boots out walking…
I’m going to punished in this life for that earworm
before leaving you, a bit of good news. (crossposted last nite on EW) Some of the our favorite DOJ criminals are not gonzo, but demoted. Including the BlueBayState’s summer resident, Susana Lorenzo-Giguere, who just got demoted, along with Tanner’s other foot soldier, Yvette Rivera. Don’t know what Rivera did wrong, but she was in a good position to do lots of it as head of, according to the Muck,
Section Five unit, which has the responsibility of reviewing election laws in parts of the country with a history of discrimination. Encouragingly, her replacement is Tim Mellett, one of the staff attorneys who in 2003, found that Tom DeLay’s Texas redistricting plan violated the Voting Rights Act.

Good meaning…like intending to do good? These boots are walking thru white stuff in Michigan, visiting aunt and then Marcy [no relation].
Reply is a shard from the cut and paste from EW, not an order, although I would love to hear Egreg’s thought on the Good Meaning of this.
Back in a little bit on the morning post.
Oh Hi BSRH,
Here’s what I want to eat, maybe it could go in the cookbook
french toast waffles
I’d make them if I had any idea what I did with the waffle iron. The maple syrup has to be hot and there has to be cinnamon.
AND on the more important note, that really is good news, thanks
Bad guys demoted at DoJ? Skip the coffee, I’m wide awake now! Yahoo!! It’s very difficult to fire somebody from the federal government, but pushing them aside means they have less potential to do damage. And the move sends a signal to other Bush creeps that there is change afoot.
Top of the fold in WaPo: Baghdad Embassy Called Fire Risk
Because, you know, we didn’t pour enough money into this project?? Not enough to do it right anyway.
the top post video is an effective earworm cure
whew!
Inspectors are endemic of regulation.
And we all know that regulation hurts the economy (of the .01%)
Good morning, pups. It’s TOMC and Bob Herbert in the NYT today. TOMC has turned her attention to the Republicans. She says there’s something about Mitt Romney’s perfect grooming, his malleability and his gee-whiz aura that seems to irritate both the other candidates and the voters. Well, he certainly irritates me. Mr. Herbert says the significance of Barack Obama’s achievement is the fact that he might well be fashioning a positive change in the very character of our nation. I think that may be a bit hyperbolic, but I haven’t had my tea yet so I may be being cranky.
http://mgpaquin.wordpress.com/
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are now ready, and I’ve got toasted Thomas’ English muffins with a variety of jams. Try the pear preserves — there’s no sugar in them, just pears, concentrated grape juice, pectin and lemon juice. Yummy! Have a great day. Elliott — the French toast waffles sound delicious. I may have to try those…
Not so good morning. Judge on appeals court threw out the GITMO case saying that torture was forseeable!!!! FORSEEABLE.
Words fail.
Regarding “Put up or shut up”: If I were cynical, I’d worry that Reid’s postponing the FISA vote is all about protecting the Dem candidates. And after the election, they’ll give the telecom companies the immunity they want.
GooD Meaning, Good Morning again and Happy Trails. Just woke up from nap that I started at 6:45 am.
from the article you cite:
It appeared to be the first time that a federal appellate court has ruled on the legality of the harsh interrogation tactics that U.S. intelligence officers and military personnel have used on suspected terrorists held outside the United States since the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
This is the undeniable implication. For there exists at common law the principle that ‘no man can be held accountable for the failure to foresee illegal conduct by another’.
Yup – torture is legal, and just part of the job, thank you very much.
And to think Janice Rogers Brown was the good guy! Remember how hard we fought to keep her off the Court for her RW views?
Obama says he didn’t vote for the AUMF, but when asked if he would have he said ‘probably yes’.
Obama is a hypocrite, opportunistic, machine pol and a confessed cheat (he said he cheated in Iowa because Howard Dean had done it in 2004).
Hillary is simply a triangulator extraordinaire. Nobody knows what she stands for, but she takes a lot of money from people who do know what she’ll do for them!
And people are worried if Edwards is a phony?
How many times did Senator Obama vote to reauthorize and fund the war?
