The major ”news” organizations shared MoDo’s and Tweety’s prejudices and predicament.

Abc’s Charlie Gibson and his elf-like commentator George somebody [sic] were again caught off-guard when the facts refused to align with their program. Their recovery amounted to, ”She won (!?), but it was such a surprise, no one’s here to help her celebrate except the busboys; maybe someone will show up later.” And this gem, ”Hillary benefited from the sympathy vote,” elicited because the boys beat her up on the playground a few days earlier.

The coverage is so pathetic, it would, well, make a grown man cry.

Re:

The appearance of impropriety?? Any takers… or will silence and censorship trump critical thinking skills, and fairness.

I wished I were your knight in shining armor on this one. Of course what Schwarzenegger proposes reeks of corruption and corporate welfare. But alas, I’m not in California, I’m not a lawyer and I’m fighting a losing battle of my own with a local hospital in Oregon.

One of my absolute heroes is the late socialist Premier of Saskatchewan, Tommie Douglas. Today he’s recognized as the most beloved Canadian in history. In the 1960s he fought an uphill battle against free-market doctors and various right wing ideologues to introduce North America’s first Medicare system. He’s a national treasure to Canadians, and all too unknown to those of us in the United States of Amnesia.

Re:

Yes, Julia, it was hard on me, to watch so many “progressives” voice support for her and speak of her as if she were a small child being whipped

Exactly. What the heck was up with that? Sheesh. I was mortified at how few people could understand that the New Hampshire vote as all votes should be about the policies that we seek through our representatives so we can rule ourselves, and not about the personalities who hope to lord it over us.

STATE MANDATED HEALTH INSURANCE, CONSTITUTIONAL?

Are there any “Lawyers” with expertise who would comment on the Constitutionality of States to “Mandate” the taxpayer purchase Health Insurance? In Massacusetts Tax Exempt oraganizations lobbied via tax exempt Political Action Committees, Beacon Hill and Mitt to pass a law that now uses the tax code to penalize taxpayers who do not comply with this law, while a large number of the corporations in the process are 501 c 3’s. A religious oranization is precluded from partaking in polical matters, or risk losing tax exempt status. However corporations with the identical tax exempt status in the health service industry buddy up to state legislatures and utilize PAC, tax exempt also, to aide in crafting law that now mandates that health insurance must be obtained, while many entities in the process making the law benefit finacially from the mandate? Do IRS Rule of Inurement apply in this instance to the corporations who now collect the health insurance premiums??? The links below are relevant to this issue.

http://www.guaranteedhealthcar.....elievable.

“Yesterday most of California’s major insurance corporations (Blue Shield, Kaiser, Cigna, etc. etc.) testified in support of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s healthcare reform bill…and the donations they have given to Assemblymembers was money well-spent, as the bill passed and was sent to the Senate.”

http://www.guaranteedhealthcar.....hcare-scam

“So much for the overblown rhetoric about shared responsibility in healthcare reform. Apparently the Massachusetts officials who enacted the law that has been hyped from coast to coast as the model for other state and national plans believe that only low and middle income individuals and families should carry the financial burden for resolving the healthcare crisis.”

“The common denominator is expanding and entrenching the role of the insurance giants who are largely responsible for the current morass by transforming our nation’s health from a system that delivers care to one that has become a funnel for higher profits, usually made by denying care. It’s time to stop expecting the insurers and the market will solve a crisis that continues to financially benefit them. Only one solution guarantees healthcare for everyone, ends insurance industry interference with care, and actually does share responsibility with fair share costs on employers, government, and individuals alike.”

Juia@99; thank you for the sympathy.

It was hard for me. I had hoped to see one more stake driven into the heart of the candidacy of the only politician in america who can keep the white house in republican hands and return control of congress to them.

Who, co-incidentally, just happens to have been a staunch enabler and supporter of the worst presidential foreign-policy decision in our history.

Who, co-incidentally, has been part and parcel of the beltway process which made that decision possible, and who has not shown one iota of political courage in denouncing it, nor has she taken a single political risk on the behalf of the progressives who WERE her natural constituency.

Yes, Julia, it was hard on me, to watch so many “progressives” voice support for her and speak of her as if she were a small child being whipped within an inch of her life in New Hampshire, by the big, bad, mainstream media, so as to extend the chance that she can make it through the primaries and capture the democratic flag and then emerge into the happytimes of the “fair and balanced” treatment she will receive at the hands of the gentle, tender-hearted, republicans.

You have no idea. Really.

MS,

You express support for Hillary, who happens to be a war monger, from all indications. And then you suggest a “deux ex machina” with the declared anti-Iraq War Al Gore riding onto the stage to save us all. What’s up with that? I kinda feel my schizophrenia coming on…
