I got mad and told ‘em to shove it.

The ladies here are really really upset.

But, there’s a difference. I got mad at the Obama supporters because it was obvious it came from them. The ladies are mad at Edwards because of what they perceive he meant. Meanwhile, most men don’t see anything wrong with what Edwards said. He didn’t mention gender when he said campaigning or being president was difficult.

Tell me, what if we learned Obama’s campaign had set up Edwards with a reporter asking pointed questions meant to draw out something that could be twisted?

It certainly fits with the other nasty things we’ve heard in the last 72 hors from Obama supporters!

Think about it and wonder, is the Obama campaign capable of such deviousness? Is Karl Rove?

This is a very ugly story and it sounds a heck of a lot more like a Republican scheme than anything Democrats would even dream of doing. Wouldn’t it be more fun to hate KKKarl more than ever than to turn against one another?

As a young man, I’ve noticed how my peers are all-too comfortable being absolutely hateful towards women (and girls) because they, too, believe that slurs are just common foul language (Hell, today they’re used as synonyms for “woman,” “girl,” or anything that is degraded) and that all anti-female bigotry is either trivial, justified, or a result of “nature.” That even extends to violent acts of anti-female hate. This could only be valid if we assume women and girls are not human because last time I checked humans were entitled to basic rights and civil liberties, which dehumanization and demonization deny them.

Honestly, sometimes I felt like I was operating in a parallel world from the rest of my school. Just give me the degree and I’ll be on my way, thanks.

Another anecdote: I met a dad who helped coach his daughter’s softball team. The girls would come to practice in the skimpiest clothing and it really bothered him so much that he sat them down one day. He said, look, you need to wear athletic clothing for athletic activities. Plus, it isn’t appropriate for you to wear what you are wearing in front of a middle aged guy like me. So give me a break.

He was just really honest about what they were communicating without being aware. They shaped up.

As for the Britney saga; I am truly bothered by the media stalking of the train wreck. My life is not better informed or improved by reading about her. It just feeds on itself much to the detriment of her kids. etc etc. Also, some of these bimbos really believe they are following in the footsteps of Marilyn Monroe (or something) and really want to emulate the legend. Sorry, girls, but MM owns that story. It was her life. Write your own story with a happier ending please.

All that said, presentation is important (just ask Hillary!) just know what you are trying to communicate.

I didn’t think Edwards response was misogynistic. I thought it was competitive. I think he might have said the same thing about a male competitor. Was it a good move? I don’t know. I just don’t think it was the Big M.

OTOH. The press makes a mountain out of any tiny little molehill they can. It’s disgusting. I for one am glad to see a few citizens get extremely vocal with the press. The same press that ignores demonstrations against the war has to find some stupid idiotic nonsense to report instead.

The people who yell “iron my shirts” really are trolls. I’m curious if they would yell “shine my shoes” to Obama in public.

I do not support an amendment to the constitution that would prevent children born in the U.S. to illegal aliens from automatically becoming American citizens. I have no intention of supporting a constitutional amendment to deny birthright citizenship.

It would be nice if no one fought or always fought fair and stuck to the issues, but nice is not reality. And so much of the time, the actual “issues” are unspoken…and not always between married couples.

When I was married to my ex-husband, whenever we’d fight he’d start right in with: “don’t you dare cry…that’s just a woman’s trick because women fight dirty”…or words to that effect. I wasn’t a big crier anyhow, but I got to where I never cried in a fight.

This past summer, about 25 years later, I finally figured out that as soon as he said that, I should have started bawling my eyes out (onion in the hanky, if necessary). If I’d have cried, I’d have won every battle.

Most men really don’t want to see themselves as bullies. A person in fighting mode provokes a fighting response in a man – no matter who started it and no matter if the antagonist is male or female. And sometimes a man feels “unmanned” if he backs down from a fight, so the fight goes on and sometimes escalates, to no one’s benefit. Even if the woman is the aggressor and strikes the first blow, the man usually cops the charge when the police get called.

A woman crying gives a man an opportunity to back down or negotiate and still save face. It’s acceptable to be “the bigger man” and back down in the face of a woman’s tears.

I’m just talking about some regular people, not real nutcases who will beat you up for breathing. The whole man/woman thing is very tricky.

But I am just a person rambling in a conversation on a blog. I am not the mainstream media.

The real big question is why the MSM is making an issue of Hillary’s tears AT ALL and yet there’s minimal mention of the behavior of the jackass who prompted this thread.

Well, it being the MSM and all, there’s also minimal mention of real issues.
