Suzanne!
Ann!
Welcome back sweetie,missed ya.
Oh Canada.
-G
hey busted
FDL has been rocking tonight.
Thanks, Jane, posters, mods, and backstage crew.
Is she wearing pants? At all? Or just boots up to here? Wow!
a quick drive thru to say hi *ndfg waves at Suzanne & other awake Firepups*
Daddybrain, get away from my computer!!
*waving back to ndfg*
Suzanne!
i’m thinking daddybrain is thinking that mommybrain needs to buy a pair of those boots
newtonusr!
LOL! A girl can dream, true… I’m sure I’d look just like that!
Tell us a story about the weather. Had a fair amount of rain here today.
Ana’s wiki
got .72″ so far and am checking toes for any signs of webbing
Saw several comments on several blogs talking about watching Stewart and Colbert. As for my house, we will not cross the WGA picket line. Period. I hope others will do the same.
Fan of “Smallville”
Nice.
Bluesy tune with some kick ass jammin’.
I love it when they play it like a slide geetar. I could listen to that all day.
After watching some reruns of candidates’ speeches tonight, I think Obama’s concession speech was a better victory speech than Clinton’s victory speech…
Hadn’t seen her; she’s hot. Good licks. Good clip to put up…thanks, Suzanne.
check out her shaking her thang
Great video choice.
I just looked for Patty Larkin’s Not Bad for a Broad, didn’t find it. Your choice is probably better anyway.
MrWhy, there is so much that is not available on utubes yet.
Dayum, she’s got it goin’ on!
Where’d you find her?
I am going to have to check this out some more, find out if she is comin’ anywhere near Portland in the near future.
tangentially, Lucinda Willimas – Can’t Let Go
Found her on the utubes, busted. she’s pretty hot in europe but looking at the utubes, she’s done some stuff here in the states recently.
errrr, Williams.
Goodnight all.
New Hampshire has shown the Democrats that we still have a horse race.
…and the Gopers still have a whore’s race.
g’nite AT
pun, thanks – no such thang as too much lucinda :)
She definitely kicks some butt wrt the blues.
I am listening to some clips at her website.
I see a niche for a site that does something for music videos (including retrieving every old video possible before they were standard issue) something like Graceland that has a free section and a subscription service for downloads. This would be a very complete list.
Maybe there are some now I don’t know about.
John McCain’s speech would have been great if it had been delivered by a 19 year old at a Toastmaster’s event.
-G
Not Graceland lol
gracenote
I’m a headbanger from way back but I think I like the blues even more. Especially get down and dirty blues heavy on guitars and soul searing jams.
Sux Ass I gotta git up and go to work, otherwise I’d saty up and enjoy this more.
Maybe a weekend late late night we could pull an all niter blues fest like we did with the cartoon awhile back.
Thats something I would go back to over and over digging new tunes.
g’nite busted – that’s a good idea
Finished my Sibel Edmonds post. I tried several sites for downloading YouTube to your desktop, but they’re all out of commission. Is there any YouTube download site for Macs currently working?
et, i don’t think you can download a utube – they are playable but not downloadable
but I see the YouTube logo on lots of videos on blogs. How do they do that?
I’d like to go on a Blues Cruise!
She’s great.
If you open the link for her website in another tab you can sit and listen to her songs in the background while doing this, some good stuff.
Now I gotta go ta bed.
et, you want to embed the video in your blog post?
Hi Suzanne great tunes as usual, love that R&B. Glad to see you are a music lover. But oh by the way you can download them using Real Player I doing that now. We have a friend who used top have Band called Soul Commitment. They were really good, unfortunately he went back to Connecticut and the group dissolved.
Has everything calmed down in your neck of the woods?
nahant, really? you can download and save the utubes to your computer? man, i’m gonna have to look at realplayer again.
only .72″ so far from today’s storm. news is still showing folks without power from thur/fri who are getting rather pissed and not happy about another storm coming in.
ET- Try this
http://max.subfighter.com/flv/downloader.php
hey margot, one day i’m gonna do a blue’s cruise too. there is some wicked cool sheet on the utubes, delbert, paul thorn, jimmy thackery, etc all on blues cruise stuff.
et, to embed a utube into a blog post (like i did here), if when looking at the utube page, on the right side is a box and at the bottom of the box is the coding for the embedding. i just cut and paste them into a post over at my place but at the lake, i use a video editor thingie that word press has.
Suz whats with all the double posting today? Thats a new wrinkle for the lake, I bet the back room boys are pulling their hair out over all the glitches. But all in all things went really good today and congratulations to all the staff that made it happen, I know it was a lot of work and they derserve a lot of credit. The conservations got a little heated but what do you expect from a bunch progressive democrats?? Every one has their own opinion.
Tube TV is a new freeware program for Mac OS X Tiger and above which enables you to search for, save, and convert Google Video and YouTube videos to a format suitable for playback on your favorite devices.
I’m into Sibel. Look forward to reading your post. Bmaz asked a couple days ago why people were hyperventilating on Sible info, and I told him, it’s because almost all of it that’s relevant has been State Secret buried by the D.C. Circuit and the Supremes denying cert. when the ACLU filed briefs.
its a glitch with the refresh comments thingie they are still working on, nahant. a hard refresh of the page will remove the double comments for you
I wasn’t bothered by it just the techie in me likes to know these kind of things. I do use a hard resent when ever a site goes squirrelly I know that sometimes that will clear it up. I guess I have spent too much in the back rooms keeping things running smoothly. Your choice of music great I would say, keep them coming!!
Thanks for the help, Pete! I’ll try it in the morning.
thanks, nahant. i play ‘audience’ instead of an instrument
et, you are doing some serious ass kicking at your blog. its on my must read daily list.
Pete,
I was looking at something called videolan and VLC media player. Do you know anything about them? I have many YouTubes on my favorites list and they keep getting taken down for various reasons. Would love to save them.
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
and
http://www.techcrunch.com/get-youtube-movie/
I used to play bass but raising 6 kids kinda gets in the way. So I am also in the audience these days. My lady plays in a woodwind Quintet (oboe) and sings soprano, two years ago she had the solo soprano in a piece named ” The Lord Nelson Mass, Mass in D Minor by Hayden, she brought me and most of the audience to tears, boy did I have those chills running up and down my spine.
Chanel 7 weather more RAIN on Thursday, not as strong, I hope they are right.
I don’t watch 7 – have boycotted them since Spocko brought to my attention their radio hate speech crap.
6 kids? reminds me of bb’s line about ‘i gave you 7 children… and now you wanna give them back’.
Thanks!
I love to write. My HS senior class – Highline HS (south of Seattle) ‘65 – voted me best musician and best writer. But most of my writing up until internet discussion groups and blog commenting was writing reports (Suzanne DOES know what I mean) and technical papers.
Some of the longer comments I wrote here over the past 2 and a half years got me going. The feedback from you and others was so very helpful!
I kept on waiting for somebody in Alaska to do what I’ve put up. Nobody did it. I stopped waiting.
Great pick Suz, on that song. Reminds me of the first Greatful Dead album, they covered it, too. A Jimmy Martin Martin bluegrass hit song long ago, written in 1925 by obscure people, The Dead just RIPPED it up rock style.
I can’t find a youtube of The Dead doin it, but here’s a good approximation of HOW the Dead did it, back then, and that would be about ‘67 I think for the first album.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KmlHRxZFB8
The bluegrassers at the fests I frequent have so many verses for this song it’s insane.
Always fun to play, always done the bluegrass way.
I prefer The Dead’s version, from so long ago.
But then, The Dead wrote this, on their first album:
See that girl barefootin along,
Whistlin n singin, she’s carryin on.
Got laughter in her eyes,
Dancin in her feet.
She’s a neon bright light,
Lives on the street.
Hey Hey indeed, on our Golden Road To Unlimited Devotions. *G*
oy, i know reports, et. yanno, the first couple search warrants were kinda exciting to type but after a couple years…
Wouldn’t give them back for anything!! All but one are out on their own and he goes to Chapman University down in Orange City. He is a junior in the film school, he also has a collection of over a thousand DVDs. We don’t rent movies in this house.
We now have six grand kids, last one born in Texas December 29.
So you can we love kids!
Speaking of BB we used to be to see him and muddy waters at Barney Steels her in RWC quite often
Hey nahant – I have four kids and still play – I don’t think of them as kids so much as home-grown roadies!
That would make you and me the same age ET I graduate from Boston Technical same year!
hey larue, i’ve added that utube to my favs. thanks, kicks awesome tushkie.
I just turned 61 in November.
Work got in the way and the guys I played are now all over the country. So now i let my sweetie do all the performing… she puts me to shame got her degree in music and a minor in education.
hey alicia! i thought of you when i saw the organ in this utube.
dang, i feel so so… so young at 53. unusual feeling, usually, i’m the old fart.
I will catch up at the end of May… Never too old to have fun though!!:)
Actually, Suz, channel 7-KGO is unrelated to radio KGO even though they have the same call letters. I learned this when teevee was reporting on the liberal radio talker who got arrested for the kidpr0n.
But I still like 5-Eyewitless the best, although I miss Samantha Mohr, lovely weathergirl.
hah! Suzanne said organ.
On that note, hurray for Democrats and g’nite all….
Yeah, Suz – me too! Luv me some B3.
teddy! really? dang (checks turning red and face feeling hot)
i’m central coast so 7 is the abc with real local stations doing nbc and cbs down here.
g’nite teddy
night Teddy!
nite teddy!
Ya mean with those Leslies spinng at either end of the stage? Great organ but hell on the back if you don’t have some heavy lifting roadies:):)
Don’t dream of Ann C. Teddy those nightmares are hell on ya:)
My Hammond (A-102) never leaves my studio. I have a 251 leslie, but when I play Hammond, I either rent or there’s one at the venue.
Google up Greatful Dead and Sittin On Top Of The World on YouTube . . . *G*
There’s a few sound checks from ‘87, with the boys doing that song like they did it, 20 years before.
FAST!
*G*
Didn’t post that cuz it was kinda not on spot but thought you’d like to know.
I’m trippin all over that first Dead Album now. Loved Cold Rain And Snow, and Çream Puff War, especially.
Alas, Sandman beckons . . . may all pregressive’s find their dreams before the elitit’s find our wallets. *G*
ZZZZ
hey alicia, i’ve been meaning to ask – how goes the book?
g’nite larue
well, it’s done (my part at least!) and is now available for pre-order on all of the online booksellers. The waiting part begins. I feel like I’ve manged to say what I want to say, but I haven’t seen the edited version yet!
It’s supposed to be in stores in March.
Boding well for the Dems? New Hampshire vote totals indicate a swing away from the GOP.
What follows are vote totals in the three recent NH Presidential primaries by year. What I find myself encouraged by is the differences between 2000 and 2008 with a swing from a solid Republican majority (60%) in 2000 to a respectable Democratic majority (53%) in 2008
Year: 2000
Dem:…154,639….40%
GOP:…236,802….60%
Total:…390,441
Year: 2004
Dem:…219,787
GOP:…..67,833
Year: 2008
Dem:…~270,000….53%
GOP:…~238,000….47%
Total:…~508,000
I tell you what – I’m wondering if we shouldn’t just let a Republican stay in charge and own the big fat mess that’s coming.
I wonder how many of those R’s voted D to try to game the D side. (taking off tin foil cap)
They’ll be so desperate for Democrats that we could probably elect Kucinich!
Delegate counts
(you might be surprised!)
sleep-blogging teddy or driveby on the way to bed for realsies?
Fuckin’ Rudy is so done!
i was surprised teddy. dang, not as much diff on the D side as i expected
Re:
Oh, gosh, I’m going with not a single one. I’m going with the story that all the Rs who switched are genuinely repulsed by the Bush version of Empire. Whaddya think? Am I being too kind to their kind? (wink)
I DON’T THINK SO! I would rather be dead than go through 4 -8 more years of these rethuglians, beside I want my kids and grandkids toa have a shot at a good life!!
Pam Spaulding neologizes:
Yay! Tweety is an effect!
Ray, have I mentioned lately that I am an R?
Apparently Chris Bowers hasn’t yet discovered the magic of superdelegates…
And what pray tell, what kind of an “R” are you:)
Lifelong
Just butting in here – they don’t all have delusions or grandeur.
LOL
Me too – that’s why I want blame to go where it belongs – not dumped on some Dem who didn’t create it. In 2012 we’d be saviors instead of fall guys.
I know that there were and I respected for the views. but I don’t know of any in office now!
Superdelegates may have endorsed, but being electeds they are the most fickle and likely to change should the wind blow another way. Also, S-Ds can change their vote regardless of their endorsement.
But, have you an up-to-date superdelegate count?
They (yes, even some of the good ones) lashed themselves to the Chimp -in-Chief and have been unable to disengage.
Re:
That could be. The chatter on this board was so intense earlier this evening that I simply gave up on it. So what kind of an R ‘r ya? A Goldwasser gurrl? A Rockefeller limosine liberal Repug? A John Anderson thinker? A U.S. Grant drinker? A Medea Benjamin CodePINKer (in drag, of course)? Curious minds want to know?
You look to me like you could be a “Billionaire for Bush” type.
I think we would be in a worse mess. They certainly don’t what to do any thing to help the 47,000,000 citizens with out medical coverage. I shudder to think!! When the Bushman got annointed I told my lady we we in for trouble. Maybe I shouldn’t have said any thing and thins would be differen’t…na wishful thinking.
I’m a Billionaire for Bush – my nom d’argent is Tiffany De Trop
LOL I love to visit that site once in a while. it warms the cockles of my heart.
im one who believes in the constitution, and not a person who takes well to being called a guurrl or having my sexuality questioned (and no, i’m not a drag queen)
Superdelegates:
The data that I have is from last week. If you regard that as current, I’ll post it. I suspect that you mean current post-NH primaries, and I sure don’t have that at my fingertips. -R.
Check this out Stevie and Chuck Berry

My point (and right now it’s satirical, but I may get serious about it) is that if a Dem gets in in 2008, everything bad that is the consequence of these last 7 gruesome years will be blamed on the poor hapless Dem in the WH, and if we have the same kind of weenie-roasters in Congress, we won’t be able to make decent policy changes once the Repubs band together like they do.
nahant, i saw that when i was looking for the SRV i used the other night. george thorogood in there too :)
Not that again…
;>)
Hi and bye, DB!
Current Delegate Count with superdelegates
Clinton 138
Obama 71
Edwards 41
Well we just gonna havta help them so it don’t get too bad. Do what ever we have to make this work for us Dems.
Beside we can blame Bushco just like they blamed Clinton for everything!
hey DB
Hi-bye, Alicia…Hey, S.
;>)
Are you troubled by a particularly gossamer epidermis, or did the bard of Avon-upon-Stafford write a play about you?
Ray!
Are you trying to make enemies, or prove yourself a stain?
Is condescension your default mode?
Apologize to your endlessly tolerant hostess.
Jesus Christ!
A little over a year ago, YouTube had about 35 or so videos of Dmitri Shostakovich – the greatest Russian composer of the Soviet Period – playing or being performed by somebody else. They now have 751!
No, Ray, I’m just in touch with my inner bitch – after 24 years of being a bitch with a badge, its kinda an automatic response to demeaning sexist assumptions.
In fact, it makes no difference when the Dems get, they will be blamed for everything that is wrong. It also doesn’t matter when they get out; they will be blamed. Witness the attempts to blame 9/11 and our lack of preparedness for Iraq on Bill Clinton, who by the way had already achieved the stated purpose of Bush’s invasion of Iraq with very little cost and no spilling of American blood. (The embargo was hell on the Iraqis I’m told.)
Re:
Oh, I wouldn’t fret about that. If a Repug takes the White House in ‘08 the Dems will still be blamed just the same.
My favorite Russian.
show-off
Iam as liberal as I can be ( Kennedy type) but conservative as hell about Our “CONSTITUTION”!! Don’t fuck with it! It works real good when it is adhered to!
And Ditto be nice to Suz
bmaz,
What is your source for the superdelegate count? Last week CNN listed 169 delegates for Clinton. Are we to believe that there’s been that much erosion in her superdelegate endorsements in the past couple days?
I wish I was good enough to play that!
I was just playing the first movement from his 9th piano sonata this morning. I’m supposed to play the waltz from Cinderella late this spring.
Here’s a fairly weird but very happy Shostakovich video with Andre Rieu. I can’t figure out where or why they’re doing this event this way.
I swore an oath to uphold and defend the constitution and just because i’m retired don’t mean i’m gonna stop.

Hey, I’m late to the party, and don’t have time to read the more than 100 comments before commenting, so here goes:
I saw Clinton’s victory speech tonight, and was immediately impressed by several things. One is that I thought it was a great speech– maybe one of her best.
Second is that I could see her doing something that also happened in 2004: It is as if her staff had a meeting with this central question: What are the strongest talking points of Obama and Edwards? Followed by this question: How can we appropriate those talking points?
I don’t have a transcript of her speech in order to provide you with pointed examples, but it seems to me that I heard her appropriate some of Obama’s main talking points, and some of Edwards main talking points, and my impression was that she did it well.
I’m listening to Edwards now, and he’s doing it too: He’s talking about the importance of “hope” and “restoring the American dream”.
So I think we’ve entered a new phase of the campaign: stealing each other’s best lines. Who can do it best, and most sincerely?
I saw this happen in 2004: As Dean’s candidacy was sinking, others were appropriating some of his main talking points. This is not necessarily a bad thing.
Anyone else notice this?

darkblakc,
I’ve used your Ted Stevens in Flames picture and your Don Young with bags of money pic on my new blog. People have gone to your site from my link. One told me, “You’ve got some weird friends.”
I reply, “But talented, for sure…?”
“Yeah, talented – but weird.”
I say, “You could use some of that kind of weird. You’re too un-weird.”

Alicia 107, so much for the ‘change’ idea. Glad to be here.
Time to put some hurt on those domestic enemies of the constitution. Damn, I wish we could convince the Democratic leadership of that.
You mean your Electra Glide, don’t you?
i hear ya wigwam – i am so wanting some frogmarching, big time.
nope, that was ex #2 who rode the Harley and wore the knee high leather boots.
I took an oath also when entering the Army, But I don’t need the oath to know we have to defend it from both foreign and domestic enemies. If Bushco decides he doesn’t want to leave office, then I will join with other like minded citizens of this country to remove him from office. I do not want my grandkids to be denied their constitutional rights.
With all I am seeing I am honestly afraid this might come to pass. I just don’t trust him and Cheny.

Good to see you blogging.

bmaz,
Thanks, I see the counter on the LH side there.
In contrast, cnn.com now shows 183 delegates for Clinton.
So what we are apparently dealing with are two separate methodologies.

Re: bobschacht @ 135
Well it’s like a recipe. Mix and match the best and most inspiring ideas to expand your message.
The thing is, those candidates better mean it. Obama won big with the whole ‘change’ slogan. You know, the slogan that MSM has been pruning for months, and putting in the minds of millions. Hillary ‘Experience’ versus Barack ‘Change’. Yeah yeah yeah, I got it…
..So change won. SSuddenly, -everyone- was in the piggy bank. Even Romney and McCain incorporated ‘change’ into their slogans or speeches. Despite the fact that they want more of the same..whatever..
..So the trick is to make sure that Clinton, Romney, and whoever else uses that ‘change’ slogan isn’t trying to short-change the voters.
That’s how I see it. And that goes for Obama as well. Yes, Barack, we want change. But please don’t short-change us progressives.
Re:
I’m afraid the curmudgeon in me already sees that Barack Obama will most certainly shortchange those of us who want “the progressive agenda”.
Universal health care? Off the table.
Instant withdrawal from Iraq? Off the table.
Hands off on Iran and Pakistan? All options are on the table.
Relief for bankrupts? That chicken has flown the coop.
Nope, Obama he be berry good for da corpawations, da. For da peepul? Not so much.
Ray Duray,
I hear you.
I think more people ought to go into these elections like they are buying a car instead of like they are going to Church. These candidates ought to be seen as car salesmen, not preachers. I think the voters and Americans are better to see them in this light. I want details, figures and timelines, not messages of hope, fairytales, and optimism.
