Florida: Florida is currently selling and distributing “Choose Life” license plates. Sale of the license plates has raised over $1,000,000. This money is being distributed to non-profit organizations that provide adoption services but also distribute biased, anti-abortion information. Although Florida counties are responsible for distributing the funds to organizations, some have delegated this task to religious organizations such as Catholic Charities, a Roman Catholic organization. The Center currently has an appeal pending in the Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

Actually, I’d prefer that he run. But I think Charlie Brown has a good shot despite the possibility that Doolittle won’t. The district is traditionally pretty Republican, but people are tired of the Doolittle “machine” and there is increasing effects from the subprime situation.

Seven days into 2008, Governor Tim Pawlenty released another set of proposals about immigration in Minnesota. Pawlenty made a proposal on the same issue on January 4, 2006, just four days into the last election year. The DFL Party said today that Pawlenty is once again using a go-nowhere immigration proposal as a wedge issue to divide Minnesotans in an election year.

“Every time Governor Pawlenty makes a proposal on immigration, its gets harder and harder to take him seriously,” said Minnesota DFL Chair Brian Melendez. “Pawlenty makes his proposal at the beginning of each election year, it goes nowhere, and its only purpose is to divide Minnesotans.”

As Melendez said, we’ve seen this from T-Paw before. Pawlenty has to know that it really isn’t going to work with Minnesotans, not anymore.

But he’s not doing this for Minnesotans.

He’s doing this for conservative Arizonans. Y’know, like a guy running for president and his base?

I found out yesterday that Timmy’s nickname at school was “Moon Shine Tim” or just plain old “Moonie”. A former classmate who chose to remain nameless for fear of retaliation said that the nickname came about this way: “You know, Promise the Moon, Deliver Nothing. Promise the Moon and Deliver Nothing, that’s our Moonie.”
