for startes …what happened to Bennie?

I spoke to a stranger today in a doctor’s office waiting room. He said he was an Independent and just didn’t know what to do this year. I didn’t push him to explain, but our conversation then took another interesting turn. He said his brother had a Pakistani doctor here and that this doctor (who was also a lawyer) actually knew both Musharraf AND Bhutto when he was in Pakistan.

I asked what the doctor had to say about Bhutto since her death and he said he hadn’t talked to the doc since that. It would certainly be an interesting conversation.

But, considering what we’ve learned about ‘Bennie’ in the reports about her here at the lake it was nice to hear that the doctor said she was well-regarded and considered to be a good person who was very bright and just a little too greedy about money. I think that probably matches what we’ve heard.

What a sad story that is and how tragic for Democracy and her supporters in Pakistan.

Usually I’m too intimidated to post anything here because I’m not sure I have anything to add. I just thought some of you might be interested in little bits of what’s going on around here.
